With all its difficulties and surprises, 2020 has finally come to its end. A year that was cruel on almost all of us, but it was worse for the music industry, when all concerts and shows were forced to be cancelled and left the bands not able to celebrate their releases properly with their fans. However, metal musicians released tons of great albums that cheered up fans who listened and banged their heads in isolation! Here, we listed 13 of the best of them for you that we recommend listening to, if you haven’t done so already.
There were also a few interesting and surprising things that happened in 2020 that we would like to mention here aswell.
In 2020, a few artists were able to be among their fans but in unusual ways. Doro Pesch was one of them, who played her metal for her fans but this time in their cars. Not as great as the usual shows but still better than nothing!
Between all the bad news, 2020 had a great surprise for die hard fans of ICED EARTH who followed them from their very beginning. Surely the news of the reunion of Matt Barlow and Jon Schaffer in a new project brought smiles to their fans faces and of course our Chief Editor!
For the first time in history, Iranian and Scandinavian metalheads joined forces to pay a tribute to the unique rock and metal legend, Lemmy and BRAVEWORDS is there to support! JUPITERIUM is proud to release ‘King of Spades’, a tribute song to Ian Fraser Kilmister, Lemmy; featuring amazing artists as special guests, Marko Hietala (NIGHTWISH, TAROT), Johan Koleberg (Ex-HAMMERFALL, Ex-THERION, WOLF), Niclas Etelävuori (Ex AMORPHIS, FLAT EARTH) via a lyric video which can be watched here.
The song was mixed and mastered by JUPITERIUM’s Ehsan Imani and artwork and lyric video is done by Mohsen “Stargazer” Fayazi at Stargazer MultiMedia.
“I think we can call 2020 many names but one can be the year of division, even in the metal music community, people are getting divided over their political opinions and this virus makes it even worse.” Stated JUPITERIUM’s Mohsen “Stargazer” Fayazi “I believe in situations like this, Lemmy, an icon over anyone or anything, could bring us all back together and remind us that we, metal brothers and sisters are more alike than different! That’s what we tried to do in this tribute project but still no one is like him! We miss you very much Lemmy! Gone but not forgotten!”
2020 is the twentieth anniversary of MOTORHEAD‘s iconic song, ‘Ace of Spades’ which was released on 27 October 1980 and stormed British music charts for weeks. This year is also the fifth anniversary of Lemmy who left us on December 28, 2015.

“We all hope that our fans across the world remain safe and healthy wherever they live or work! We all must band together to defeat this nasty virus!!! You are not alone – the ACCEPT Family will STAND TOGETHER and we shall all continue to help and support each other! We will stay connected … today and tomorrow and forever! The sad reality today: This is A PANDEMIC – but, when we wrote this song ten years ago, we were pushing the idea that it is THE LOVE FOR HEAVY METAL that is spreading like a disease; this is true for the past, the present and the future. Today we believe that when you are head banging’ to our song … that song is a Heavy Metal DISEASE, one that will make your day brighter and help you through this “other” disease!😊
Let’s unite virtually in metal, stand together STRONG. Please obey social distancing! #stayhome”
