After the 2016 debut album “Hang ’em High” by Bonn Area thrashers FABULOUS DESASTER was completely out of print, the guys decided to re-release it. Instead of a pure repress, the 2024 edition, which has just been released, contains 4 bonus tracks! 3 songs are from the band’s demo phase and were completely re-recorded for this purpose last year at Armin Rave’s Soundsight Studio. The fourth bonus track is a version of “Toxic Nuclear War” with alternative vocals by bassist Jan, who – unlike on the regular album version – also performs the track live.
To mark the rerelease, the band has also unearthed a video clip for the song “Faster Than Light”, which was originally intended as a graduation project and has never been released in its entirety to date! “Hang ’em High” is now available on all common streaming portals and as a CD directly from the band and in the MDD store.
American hard rockers LO-PAN have set their signatures on a multi-album contract with Magnetic Eye Records. The long-running Columbus, Ohio foursome will release their fifth full-length via the label in 2025.
LO-PAN comment: “It’s an honor to be a part of the Magnetic Eye Records roster“, drummer Jesse Bartz writes on behalf of the band. “We are very excited about the plans that we have for 2025 and beyond. Watch this space for more news coming soon!“
Jadd Shickler adds: “I love breaking new talent, but this label is also a home for iconic heavy bands, and that’s exactly what Lo-Pan are“, the Magnetic Eye director explains. “These guys have been intertwined with the riff-rock, doom, and stoner scene going back over a decade, but they’re something else entirely. They deliver classic rock that’s somehow modern, heavy as hell and at the highest possible level since they started. I can barely express the pride and pleasure it gives me to welcome Lo-Pan to Magnetic Eye! It’s been far too long since we heard new music from them, and we can’t wait to be the ones bringing it to the world!”
More info:
LO-PAN are an American hard rock band hailing from Columbus, Ohio, well-known for their powerful blend of driving rhythms, melodic vocals, and immersive sonic landscapes.
Formed in 2005, LO-PAN have laboured hard to earn a reputation as one of the most consistent and compelling acts in the modern heavy scene with their blue-collar work ethic with singular artistic vision.
LO-PAN came together in the vibrant underground Columbus music scene out of a shared love of vintage rock, stoner metal, and modern heaviness. This united four musicians with a passion for pushing boundaries. It was no accident that they took their name from the sorcerous villain in the cult film “Big Trouble in Little China” as the band set out to blend cinematic drama with larger-than-life energy.
From their earliest days, LO-PAN distinguished themselves with an intense live presence and a sound that combined classic rock grit with the crushing weight of stoner and doom influences. What further set them apart was an uncanny combination of weighty power and soaring melodies. Their approach pays homage to the lineage of bands like CLUTCH and CORROSION OF CONFORMITY while carving out their own sonic identity.
LO-PAN‘s 2009 debut album “Sasquanaut” was an immediate breakout, earning praise for its infectious hooks and monumental grooves, and established the band as a force to be reckoned with in the heavy underground. Sophomore full-length “Salvador” (2011) solidified their reputation, showcasing a more refined sound and greater musical maturity. 2014’s “Colossus” represented a significant leap forward, pushing into new territories with tighter arrangements and more expansive production by Andrew Schneider (PELICAN, UNSANE et al.). In 2019, LO-PAN released “Subtle”, which marked yet another step in the evolution of their sound. The band dared to take risks by exploring new emotional depths with a more introspective and atmospheric approach, which paid off with critics and fans alike.
LO-PAN have toured and shared stages with such heavyweights as HIGH ON FIRE, TORCHE, and RED FANG, among many others, and have taken their high-energy performances to audiences across the United States and Europe. One of the most vital bands in modern heavy music, LO-PAN inspire and captivate listeners with raw, honest, and unapologetically powerful rock that is both massively thunderous and heartfelt.
LO-PAN will release their fifth full-length via Magnetic Eye Records in early 2025.

Around this time last year, before the underground legends descended one last time into Menegroth, The Thousand Caves, Defeated Sanity felt like they were in need of an adjustment. Over the past 30 years, no other band has hit on more ways to spin death metal on its deformed head. But instead of concocting another heady bludgeoning of jazz-infused chaos, they wanted to double-down on the neck-snapping brutality that fans love about their earliest classics.
Judging by the reaction to Chronicles of Lunacy, it’s safe to say that Defeated Sanity delivered in skull-crushing spades. The band’s new album cracked Billboard‘s Rock, Hard Music and Independent charts.
“There’s something to love in everything Defeated Sanity has done, but I do think they may have veered a little too far on The Sanguinary Impetus for most listeners”, Metal Injection wrote in their 9/10 review. “This is not a knock on Defeated Sanity but I think a recentering was definitely in order. And that’s exactly what they accomplish on Chronicles of Lunacy“.
“Instead of doubling down on immense, yet spectacular, complexity…they go for the jugular”, wrote PopMatters, who voted Chronicles of Lunacy one of the best metal albums of the year.
As they gear up for their first headlining tour of Europe since 2018, today, Defeated Sanity are flexing their rabid technical chops with a double guitar playthrough of the album’s most infectious deep cuts.
Watch guitarist Vaughn Stoffey and bassist Jacob Schmidt tear through “Extrinsically Enraged”.
Their new album speaks to one’s inner caveman, but Chronicles of Lunacy isn’t Defeated Sanity for dummies. Each song chews over the kind of individual thought patterns that can rot the human psyche, though “Extrinsically Enraged” wastes no time in hammering its point. “It’s about contracting rabies”, vocalist Josh Welshman says with a hearty laugh. Stoffey and Schmidt gnaw at their fretboards as if their mouths are foaming. Their squealing riffs and scurrying grooves will chew a hole through the toughest metalheads.
Tracklist 1. Amputationsdrang (2:30) 2. The Odour Of Sanctity (3:36) [WATCH] 3. Accelerating The Rot (3:22) [WATCH] 4. Temporal Disintegration (5:52) [WATCH] 5. Extrinsically Enraged (4:09) [WATCH] 6. A Patriarchy Perverse (4:16) 7. Condemned to Vascular Famine (6:00) 8. Heredity Violated (3:48) Total runtime: 33:35
Chronicles of Lunacy punches you right in the face. Opener “Amputationsdrang” already has you pinned to the mat beneath its non-stop blasts. Get comfortable, too. Defeated Sanity don’t let the album up for air until “Temporal Disintegration” warps into a wiggling bass outro.
“We love experimenting”, explains drummer and founding member Lille Gruber. “But we realized that some of our oldest fans might have gotten lost after our last couple of albums. With Chronicles of Lunacy, we wanted to focus more on neck-snapping brutality”.
Acting like cavemen isn’t so easy when your band has a Mensa-level maestro like Gruber at the controls. “Lille’s drumming is just ridiculous”, says bassist Jacob Schmidt. Whether Gruber is hammering his snare, pinging between cymbals or riding a colossal groove, Chronicles of Lunacy flows like a never-ending stream of filth. Lead single “The Odour of Sanctity” opens like he’s puncturing a wound with blistering blast beats, only to spew over into a monstrously wonky syncopated stomp.
“He’s the face of the franchise, so we’re never going to abandon those head-scratching moments that set Defeated Sanity apart”, Schmidt continues.
Indeed, Chronicles of Lunacy isn’t Defeated Sanity for dummies. “Each song deals with a different form of mental corruption”, vocalist Josh Welshman says. “Odour” stinks of religious fanaticism. Early crowd favorite “A Patriarchy Perverse” cracks open the mind of co-ed killer Ed Kemper. “Sickness breeding sickness“, Welshman growls with guttural vengeance.
While it still hits from every odd angle, Chronicles of Lunacy does draw a jagged red line back to Defeated Sanity’s brutal origins. After all, the band now share a label with their namesake. New guitarist Vaughn Stoffey’s chunky finger taps whip “Accelerating the Rot” into the fastest song in DS history. “This album is rawer and more straightforward”, Stoffey says. “It gets back to what people love about Psalms of the Moribund and Chapters of Repugnance“.
To dig up the sheer brutality that long-time fans have come to crave, Defeated Sanity returned to Thousand Cave Studios. The underground hot spot served as the excavation site for their previous two albums, but with Chronicles of Lunacy, producer Colin Marston was encouraged to really get his hands dirty. “We still wanted some of the high fidelity that you hear on modern death metal records”, Schmidt says, “but this album also has the old school’s crushing low-end”.
The band execute this two-headed approach to monstrous effect on “Condemned to Vascular Famine”. At just under six minutes, the song delivers the longest ass beating on Chronicles of Lunacy. At times, all four members sound like they’re climbing up the walls in separate asylums, but after slipping in a brief nod to Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the band come slamming down into the album’s ugliest breakdown.
“That’s one of our favorites”, the band says. “It lands at a crossroad of the DS sound that we ended up with on Chronicles of Lunacy. Even though it gets pretty fucking weird at times, there’s still an emphasis on heavy, straight-up slamming”
They’re never going to drag their knuckles in a straight line, but on Chronicles of Lunacy, Defeated Sanity return to sheer brutality.
To celebrate Chronicles of Lunacy, Defeated Sanity are embarking on their first headlining tour of Europe in six years. They’ll be performing songs off their brutal new album alongside Wisconsin’s Putrid Pile and To Violently Vomit Forth, a tribute to Disgorge that features current and former members of the legendary BDM band.
Iniquitous Savagery, Strangle Wire, Asylum and Embryonic Devourment round out the two legs of this stacked bill.

Marking the 40th anniversary of ACCEPT‘s iconic album, “Balls To The Wall,” founding member and former frontman Udo Dirkschneider is reinterpreting this classic with a fresh and star-studded twist. Far from a simple remake, this project was born out of countless conversations with prominent artists across the global rock and metal scene, who frequently asked: “Are you planning anything special for the 40th anniversary of “Balls To The Wall”?”
These discussions sparked the idea to re-record the album’s legendary tracks alongside a stellar lineup of guest musicians, transforming the project into a heartfelt tribute. For both Dirkschneider and the participating artists, this endeavor is more than a celebration – it’s an homage to one of heavy metal’s most groundbreaking albums.
The reimagined “Balls To The Wall” features an impressive roster of talent, breathing new life into each track:
01. Balls To The Wall [feat. Joakim Brodén of SABATON] 02. London Leatherboys [feat. Biff Byford of SAXON] 03. Fight It Back [feat. Mille Petrozza of KREATOR] 04. Head Over Heels [feat. Nils Molin of DYNAZTY/AMARANTHE] 05. Losing More Than You’ve Ever Had [feat. Michael Kiske of HELLOWEEN] 06. Love Child [feat. Ylva Eriksson of BROTHERS OF METAL] 07. Turn Me On [feat. Danko Jones] 08. Losers And Winners [feat. Dee Snider of TWISTED SISTER] 09. Guardian Of The Night [feat. Tim “Ripper” Owens of KK’s PRIEST, formerly of JUDAS PRIEST] 10. Winter Dreams [feat. Doro Pesch]
This ambitious reinterpretation not only revitalises the original tracks but also underscores their timeless impact on the metal genre. More than a revival, this project serves as a celebration of the album’s enduring legacy, enriched by the enthusiasm and contributions of some of metal’s most influential voices.
“Re-recording “Balls To The Wall” was a big challenge for me. The album is a milestone of my career, of course, that’s why it was even more important to me to make the original songs shine in a new light without losing their initial essence. All guests have put their individual stamps on these classic tracks, and collaborating with such outstanding vocalists has moved them into a fresh and exciting dimension. The result is a powerful homage to all fans but also an invitation to the next generation to experience the songs not minorly passionate than I was when I recorded them back in the day. It’s a never-ending personal journey for me – “Balls To The Wall” will always be a part of me,” states Udo.
RPM managing director Jochen Richert expresses his excitement: “This masterpiece has accompanied me for almost my entire life. When Udo first told me about his idea, my initial thought was, ‘Can this really work?’ But as soon as he mentioned the first guest singers, I knew it would be great. When I finally got to hear the tracks, I was blown away. My nostalgic side cautioned me, ‘No, you can’t like this better than the original.’ But there’s no use denying it, I have to admit it’s at least as good as the 1983 recordings – if not better! Accordingly, it’s an incredible honour to be able to contribute to this opus.”
This reimagined “Balls To The Wall” is a fitting tribute to heavy metal history, proving that its power and influence remain as potent today as they were four decades ago. Don’t miss your chance to own this extraordinary celebration of a true classic. Pre-order here: https://dirkschneider.rpm.link/shopPR

Seattle’s hard-hitting phenomenon FIFTEEN STITCHES has inked a deal with Wormholedeath Records for their electrifying album, “Beyond The Wall”, set to detonate on January 24th, 2025.
Why does humanity treat each other the way they do? That is the overriding theme of Fifteen Stitches’ new album ‘Beyond The Wall’.
The second release by the Washington South Sound band, after their 2018 EP ‘The Void’, delves deeper into the human condition with heavy-hitting music, thought-provoking lyrics, and a freshly energized lineup. Tim Perdue (vocals), Chris Pasinetti (guitar), Rob Field (bass), and drummer James Ortega weave a powerful sound ranging from pummeling rock to more atmospheric songs. The lyrics of singer Tim Perdue both examine humanity and give hope that we could be better to each other — if only we can find a way out of the chaos born of those in power.
The lifeblood of the Pacific Northwest music scene flows through the band with a wide array of influences from heavy rock, prog, glam, and grunge to the birth of rock itself. Rob Field comes from the band Cries of Tammuz, a popular goth band with progressive elements from England, and local band Painted Window who performed in the northwest during the early 2000s. Chris Pasinetti has played in the Seattle/Tacoma area in many local bands: Nothing Sounds Good, Dem Zaing, and hillbilly punk band SixGun. Notably, drummer James Oretega performed with Don Wilson of surf rock and garage band legends The Ventures, Man of the Mountain, Negative Inside, SixGun, and Tremor Cats. Tim Perdue currently sings for Fifteen Stitches and Tremor Cats.

In the windswept grandeur of Scotland’s towering peaks and mist-laden lochs, the mythic resonances of Saor‘s sound rise once again. Today, the band are sharing a masterful playthrough for the lead single and title track off their new album Amidst the Ruins.
Amidst the Ruins is out February 7th, 2025 on Season of Mist.
Amidst the Ruins draws inspiration from a bygone era. On their fifth album, Saor merges black metal’s raw intensity with Celtic folk’s heartfelt melodies. The title track weaves together melodic guitars, heavy bass lines and blast beats. As echoes of forgotten paths and crumbling relics of history unfold before your eyes, this song serves as a solemn reminder of a heritage lost amidst the modern world’s clamor.
Saorwill embark on a journey across the UK and Europe next year. The band will share their majestic new serenades with fans far and wide during the Amidst the Ruins 2025 tour.

Tracklist: 1. Amidst the Ruins (12:41) [WATCH] 2. Echoes of the Ancient Land (11:41) 3. Glen of Sorrow (12:05) 4. The Sylvan Embrace (8:19) 5. Rebirth (14:10) Full runtime: 58:57
Out of the mists, where lore whispers in the winds, SAOR, the heralds of Caledonia’s primeval beauty and ancient tales, rise once again to enrapture souls far and wide. Their newest offering, Amidst the Ruins, is an epic voyage set to rekindle the fires of heritage and resurrect the valor that courses through Scotland’s vast landscapes.
Since their emergence in 2013, SAOR has beckoned listeners to transcend the mortal plain, intertwining the ferocity of atmospheric black metal with the gentle, haunting melodies of Celtic fold. Andy Marshall, the sage bard and architect of SAOR‘s sound, continues his pilgrimage through the verdant glens and stark highlands, revealing sights both ethereal and eternal through his music.
Building upon the chronicles of old, the forthcoming album Amidst the Ruins stands proud, a timeless sentinel amidst the sands of time. For in this work, Marshall, the visionary, has deftly woven strands of modern-life dissonance into the rich tapestry of Scottish lore, enshrining the enigmatic contrast between the remnants of a glorious yore and the often-elusive grasp of the present day. This auditory saga resounds with the resonance of ruined structures and forgotten paths, its melodies steeped in the reverence for sacred ground and a lament for the disconnect wrought by modernity.
Delve deep and you shall find Echoes of the Ancient Land, a heartfelt tribute to Scotland’s timeless landscapes and their profound ancestral connections. Through The Sylvan Embrace, SAOR imparts a harmonious sanctuary, a sylvan retreat where solace is found, and spirits are soothed. With Rebirth, the cycle is complete, weaving an intricate spell of transformation and new dawns.
The band’s odyssey upon the stage is nothing less than transcendental, as audiences bear witness to the heart of their aural fables brought vividly to life. These live performances stand as sacred rituals, bridging the veil between epochs, inviting all to partake in the shared legacy of the Scottish Highlands.
In Amidst the Ruins, the warriors of SAOR cast a clarion call to awaken from the lethargy of modern existence, to reclaim the essence of a heritage laid asunder. From the vibrant resonance of ancient battles to the hushed despair of Glencoe’s betrayed souls, every note spills forth like blood of the fallen seeping into the heathered earth.
As we stand on the cusp of this new era, Amidst the Ruins, the latest chronicle unfolds. SAOR‘s watchful eye turns to the horizon, the whispering woods, the twilight skies, and the sleeping stones bearing seers’ dreams, evoking the indomitable spirit of the realm. In their hands, the past is resurrected; its tales to be retold for those who would heed the call—SAOR, remain the ceaseless bards of Caledonia unbroken.
