Anticipation is building for the release of neànder‘s third studio album, “III”, set to be released on November 8, 2024 via Through Love Records. Today, the Berlin-based heavy instrumental outfit has unveiled the second pre-release single from their upcoming album, titled ‘Krater’, along with a music video directed and cut by Chariot Of The Black Moth.
Who says that a good chorus has to be sung? ‘Krater’, the new neànder single has such a catchy chorus that you won’t forget it it so quickly. It is played with: Guitars. Just like neànder makes the most elegant instrumental heavy guitar music ever. In ‘Krater’ you might think of Ennio Morricone at the beginning, the song has a Western feeling, contains traces of folk and then carries you away with monolithic riffs that take you on a cathartic power trip, all of this combined with majestic strings that were played and arranged by Judith Retzlik.
When it comes to the upcoming album “III” by neànder, you might have to imagine as if Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Prong, Mogwai, Black Sabbath, Ennio Morricone, Pink Floyd, Faith No More and Venom 2024 playing a session together. neànder always use the multitude of their influences in a song-oriented way.
“III” is a focused, tidy and therefore stringent album in the best sense of the word. “Reduction was more important than ever before,“ says Jan Korbach. “Where we would have played out a riff or passage endlessly in the past, this time we limited ourselves to the essentials.“
On “III”, everything is in motion, and with their upcoming full-length the Berlin band finally breaks the formal boundaries of instrumental alternative music. Set for release on November 8 via Through Love Records, the album is available for pre-order at THIS LOCATION

Ten years after its original release, Karisma Records is set to re-release a vinyl version of “City of the Sun”, the critically acclaimed debut full-length album from Norwegian Prog Rockers SEVEN IMPALE, which has long-been sold out.
Whilst “City of the Sun” is firmly based on classic progressive rock, SEVEN IMPALE’s use of elements usually found within the Metal genre, along with the inclusion of a Saxophone amongst their instruments, is the perfect illustration of how unafraid SEVEN IMPALE is to veer away from what one would normally expect from a Progressive Rock band. The resultant sound is, as you may expect, is not only much harder but it also contains a plethora of jazzy elements, thus appealing to a wider audience.
Commenting on the album itself, SEVEN IMPALE had this to say:
The process of making “City of the Sun” all those years ago put all seven of us into a rather confined space, recording it the good old-fashioned way. Not a click track or grid in sight! It was a sweaty, intimate experience that seems to have been the recipe for.. sweaty, intimate and jazzy prog rock.!
We can confirm that recording and assembling “City of the Sun” was a valuable learning experience for us as a band, and we are forever thankful for the friendship we formed, and have since built upon, with our producer Iver Sandøy. Iver will always be that “missing” seventh impala, and we will, without hesitation, return to Solslottet for the golden touches of the Sun King Himself.
Set for release on the 29th November, the Tenth Anniversary edition of “City of the Sun” will be available as a Limited Edition LP in Solar Flare Vinyl, and will include an insert sheet with the albums lyrics along with comments from both the band, and ENSLAVED’s Ivar Bjørnson.
Featuring its original artwork, track listing for “City Of The Sun” as follows:
1. Oh, My Gravity! 2. Windshears 3. Eschaton Horo 4. Extraction 5. God Left Us for a Black-Dressed Woman
Formed in Bergen, Norway in 2010, and featuring members from ENSLAVED, CLOUD PEOPLE, TROJKA and more, SEVEN IMPALE’s lineup consists of Stian Økland on vocals and guitars, Fredrik Mekki Widerøe on drums, Benjamin Mekki Widerøe on sax, Tormod Fosso on bass, Erlend Vottvik Olsen on guitar and Håkon Vinje on keyboards.
It is a lineup that encompasses a diversity of musical disciplines ranging from classical orchestra to big band, metal to jazz and rock to electronic, SEVEN IMPALE have fused all their experience and influences and created a sound that is uniquely theirs.
A video of SEVEN IMPALE playing the track “God Left Us for a Black-Dressed Woman” from “City of Sin” live at Festival Prog-Resiste in 2016 can be seen below.
Atlanta-based American guitarist Eddie 9V is pleased to announce the release of the official lyric video for their latest single “Halo“. Watch the video on YouTube HERE.
The single is also available on all streaming platforms HERE.
“Halo” is the second single taken from Eddie 9V’s forthcoming album Saratoga released by Ruf Records on Friday 22nd November 2024. The album is available to pre-order HERE.
The new album dovetails Eddie’s November and December UK Tour where he will support Robert Jon & The Wreck at Oxford, Academy 2 (Nov 30) and Nottingham, Rock City (Dec 1), followed by headline UK club shows Newcastle, Cluny 2 (Dec 2), Edinburgh, The Caves (Dec 3), London, The Black Heart (Dec 4), and Manchester, Retro Bar (Dec 5).
Eddie 9V has an endless stockpile of cool stories – and you’ll find twelve of them on new studio album Saratoga. It’s a record that will thrill both newcomers and fans who have trailed Eddie since the start, showcasing his fresh, fiery spin on Southern soul, blues, rock and funk, with his signature wit and sharp observations of modern America placing him squarely in the here-and-now. “I do think it’s a wonderful road trip album,” he nods.
Eddie 9V has powered up. From the day he first slung a guitar on a local stage, the Georgia-born bandleader announced himself as an artist to watch. But in the last few meteoric years, Eddie’s music has crossed oceans and airwaves, transcending his cult-hero status to become a beacon for fans of real music everywhere. “Eddie 9V is something else,” wrote the UK’s Classic Rock Magazine – “A man who genuinely inhabits golden-era American roots, playing the most instinctive blues you’ll hear all year.”
Check out the gig listings and you’ll find this rising star playing a bigger club every time he blows through town. Scan the charts and you’ll find his most recent album, 2022’s Capricorn, locking horns with the giants of rock ‘n’ roll. “Capricorn debuted at #1 and that was a cool feeling for a week, until Bonnie Raitt kicked us off,” reflects Eddie with a smile. “But hey, that’s a cool story to be able to say…”
We’ve rode shotgun with Eddie for a couple of decades now. Born Brooks Mason in June 1996, he was playing guitar by the age of six (“One of those with the speaker in it – the most bang for your buck, y’know?”). Even then, manufactured pop music held nothing for him, and his years at Union Grove High School were instead soundtracked by local heroes like Sean Costello, alongside his studies of “older cats” like Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Freddie King and Rory Gallagher.
“I wanted to see what made them groove and tick,” he explains. “I’ve been making up lyrics on the spot for years. I believe that came from my Uncle Brian at our family fish fries – he taught me about what made people laugh and what kept the audience’s attention.”
Coming up on his home state’s live circuit – first with covers band The Smokin’ Frogs, then with highly rated blues-rockers The Georgia Flood – Mason soon turned heads, even representing the Atlanta Blues Society at the 2013 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. But his true birth as an artist came when he buried his birth name and adopted that striking solo moniker. “A lot of people wanted me to be the Brooks Mason Blues Band, but that’s been done,” he reasons. “I wanted to start from scratch – and I ain’t never heard of no bluesman named Eddie 9V.”
From the start, Eddie’s output pricked up ears, with 2019’s “Left My Soul In Memphis” dubbed “fresh and life-affirming” by Rock and Blues Muse and the chaotic free-for-all of 2021’s “Little Black Flies” praised by Classic Rock Magazine as “like having all your best mates in the speakers”. In 2023, he got his best reviews yet for Capricorn, a record tracked at the near-mythical Macon studio of the same name, that led Classic Rock’s Henry Yates to declare: “As an artist, he sounds fully charged.”
But the great artists evolve, and in both its songcraft and execution, Saratogafinds Eddie painting with more colours from his palette. “I was shooting for a more Americana-type album this time, less blues songs and solos and more focusing on the songwriting,” he explains of the eleven originals co-written with his brother, the much-respected Southern musician, Lane Kelly. Unlike the anarchy of earlier albums, meanwhile, the sessions mostly saw the multi-instrumentalist siblings hunkered down at their own Echo Deco Studio in Atlanta, self-producing the new tracks with Patrick Meese and inviting guest players to supply horns, fiddle and lap steel.
“It was definitely more me and my brother in our home studio recording everything. There’s a lot of guests, for sure, but it was mainly overdubbing. We did the songs “Saratoga,” “Delta,” and “Halo” at Crown Lanes Studio in Denver, Colorado, and it was nice to take a break, walk outside, see the mountains, feel the fresh air. At our studio, it’s just muggy with mosquitoes. But sometimes it’s good to not have distractions.”
Likewise, the new songs of Saratoga deserve nothing less than your full attention. Eddie’s latest album announces his new groove with the crisp, purposeful beats of the opening title track, an instant favourite that gets under your skin with its almost disco-style harmonies and joust of horns and slide guitar. As Eddie says: “That song is about being in a lonely tiny town that feels impossible to escape.”
“Halo” struts from the speakers on Eddie’s falsetto howl, before the lush yearning of “Cry Like A River” and “Love Moves So Slow” (co-written by Spencer Pope) brings vintage soul into the modern age. The brittle riffs and spacey vocal of Delta mark another gearshift, flowing into “Red River’s” reflective-yet-kinetic groove. “Wasp Weather” speaks to Eddie’s love of rapid-fire streams of consciousness. “That’s my favourite lyrically ’cos I like spewing words that don’t make sense into songs. ‘I got a big mud house that I can’t keep clean, it’s useless’ – I love that line.”
The album plays out in style with the trilling alt-folk of “Truckee.” “We got high and did shrooms and camped on the Truckee river in California,” he explains of the inspiration – the wistful “Tides” and “Love You All The Way Down.” Eddie even slips in a brass-blasting take on Mac DeMarco’s “Chamber Of Reflection,” before bringing the record home with “The Road To Nowhere’s” shuddering, tremolo-drenched country lament, his trademark twang utterly transformed into a vintage croon.
Eddie 9V is right: this latest album takes us all over the musical and emotional map, while announcing that his recent career peaks are just the start. “Capricorn was a big jump for us,” he reflects. “But I’m already writing new songs, y’know?”

Veiled, the UK’s most electrifying rising deathcore band, are rapidly forging a distinctive identity within the metal landscape. Today, as they celebrate the launch of SE/CT, their highly anticipated debut album, they unveil their third single, ‘Hellbound’. ‘Hellbound’ blends raw emotion with a cinematic landscape of darkness and desperation, where hope battles against the inevitability of surrender.
Every track on Veiled‘s debut album seamlessly intertwines aggression and melody whilst weaving a compelling narrative that showcases the band’s evolution into their signature sound. With their devoted fanbase proudly dubbed “The Sect”, the album is poised to catapult their following to new heights, expanding their legion of supporters exponentially. Don’t miss the chance to witness their meteoric rise as they headline ‘Veiled The Hometown Gathering II: Second Coming’ on Saturday, 26th October, at the Lending Room, Leeds, a night that promises to be unforgettable.
Veiled comment:“We always try to channel a specific emotion or feeling with each release and this album invokes a feeling of sheer terror. We wanted an air of unease around the songs, playing with tension and really appreciating the power that silence can have. The format of an album gives us the time to build more of a story and experiment dynamically compared to a shorter release. The album allowed us to delve deeper into our more atmospheric and dynamic side.
“Our new single, ‘Hellbound,’ unfolds as a haunting journey into the abyss, where shadows of one’s dark side loom larger with each passing day. The protagonist teeters on the precipice, engulfed by a suffocating blackness that clings to their soul. Amidst this chaos, a flicker of hope remains, yet it grows dimmer with every sunrise, reinforcing the grim realisation that they are bound to perish in the very hell they’ve constructed. The song’s raw, relentless energy mirrors the turmoil within. Hectic rhythms and visceral lyrics encapsulate the desperate yearning for change, battling against the weight of past failures that anchor them in despair. Each note reverberates with the pain of isolation, capturing the overwhelming urge to surrender.
“In the accompanying music video, the narrative intensifies. A figure, fraught with desperation, approaches a chilling leader, bearing offerings, tools of violence stained with crimson. Yet, the leader’s disdainful gaze dismisses them as insufficient, casting the seeker into a dark tomb of rejection. Confused and frantic, he grapples with his sense of worth, wrestling with his demons in the suffocating darkness. Then, in a chilling twist, a knife clatters down beside him, igniting a harrowing revelation: he himself is the ultimate offering. As the blade grazes his skin, a powerful hand seizes it, affirming his grim commitment to the cult. In a haunting ritual, he is reborn, gifted a new face as a sinister mark of acceptance, a chilling transformation that seals his fate within the depths of despair.
“As a collective, we’re proud of how massive the album sounds. The pacing and track placements makes the album ebb and flow, helping to tell a story sonically, even instrumentally, without hearing the vocals you can feel the emotions that each track conveys. The stories we tell in our songs and videos have always been a large part of our songwriting and conceptual process. Even if a song doesn’t have a video, we always tend to write as though it will, having vivid visual imagery that goes along with the music. The album is an extension of this and a huge step up from our previous offerings. We try to keep the listener guessing as to exactly where a song or a story is going to take them.
“If you’re a fan of heavy music, then we know that we will have at least one song that connects with you. From our terrifyingly heavy songs to slower more anthemic-based songs. If you like extremely heavy music, but also like huge sing-along choruses, the two don’t always have to be mutually exclusive. Join The Sect, you might just be surprised what you find.”

On his new album, ”Origins of Water”, Martin Rubashov (known from Nolavær, that features AndersFridén from In Flames) delves deep into the essence of water, exploring its duality as both a life-giving force and a harbinger of destruction. Through a mesmerizing blend of melodies and lyrics, Rubashov invites listeners on a journey to uncover the secrets hidden within the fluid embrace of nature’s most precious resource.
About his second single he had this to say:
“A ghost story with a melodic guitar riff. It’s about flirting with the devil, who finds you in dark times and holds water as a tomb. Will you go there?”
From the tranquil trickle of a babbling brook, the hidden mires and to the open sea, each track on the album captures a different facet of water’s enigmatic character. Drawing inspiration from personal experiences and universal truths, Rubashov weaves a narrative that transcends time and space, touching upon themes of renewal, loss, and the interconnectedness of all living things.
At its core, Origins of Water is a meditation on humanity’s relationship with the natural world. Through haunting melodies and evocative lyrics, Rubashov confronts the harsh reality of water’s exploitation and pollution, urging listeners to contemplate the consequences of their actions and strive for a more harmonious existence with the planet.
From the haunting track ”Mires” to the anthemic “Elemental” each track on Origins of Water serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility and resilience of life. Guitar driven and thought-provoking lyrics, the album stands as a testament to the power of music to inspire change and ignite the soul.
As listeners immerse themselves in the ethereal soundscape of Origins of Water, they are transported to a realm where time stands still, and the boundaries between the physical and spiritual worlds blur. In this transcendent space, Rubashov invites us to confront our deepest fears and desires, ultimately emerging transformed and renewed, like a drop of water returning to the vast ocean of existence.
The new single “Nixe” isreleased 18th of October 2024, via Despotz Records. His new album “Origins Of Water” will be released February 21, 2025, on digital and physical media.
