The band comments: “ECHOES is a reflection of the chaos that comes with fighting your inner demons. We wanted to capture that feeling of being trapped in your own mind, where every struggle seems endless, like you’re caught in a loop. This song is about losing control but also the desperate fight to break free from the lies and darkness within.”
While the message of the song is reflective and serious CALIBAN decided to have a much more light-hearted approach to the video that echoes recent live shows. It was the first ones featuring Iain Duncan on bass and vocals.
Italian metal titans LACUNA COIL announce their 10th studio album, SLEEPLESS EMPIRE, their first collection of new songs since 2019’s Black Anima, with their new single “OXYGEN“. The new song comes with a mesmerizing new music video, filmed in Latina and directed by Daniele Tofani, that shows singer Cristina Scabbia in the lead role.
The new album comprises 11 new tracks; and each one is a richly textured soundtrack to a specific time and a place. With SLEEPLESS EMPIRE, that place is dark, cinematic, and unmistakably true to the unique characteristics that have given Lacuna Coil such a celebrated entry in the annals of heavy music. The band shares: “SLEEPLESS EMPIRE captures, through our eyes, the chaos of a generation trapped in a digital world that never stops, where social media consumes identity and every day pushes us one step closer to becoming soulless zombies. We find ourselves in between, having witnessed a full analogic world and the modern one, confronting the evolution and searching for a true meaning of it all. Throughout every song, the journey is an undercurrent of rebellion, a desperate cry to reclaim oneself in an era that seems to have lost its sense of time and reality.”

From start to finish, the track demonstrates Snowblind’s unparalleled musicianship and commitment to pushing boundaries, all the while maintaining the unmistakable edge of classic Metal. The single teases the exciting evolution of the band’s sound, promising an EP that is as daring, as it is captivating. ‘Primal Spy’ is an explosive fusion of classic old-school Metal with lashings of progressive influence, marking a bold return for the powerhouse trio.
The Browning has released their latest “Soul Drift.” Short but brutal, the single begins where their previous track left off, creating a seamless continuation while introducing heavy, thrashing guitars that merge with relentless vocal intensity, showcasing a side of the band fans have never seen before, slowing down to deliver a more nuanced, contemplative piece.
“Soul Drift” is a fiercely energetic track, weaving together elements of deathcore, metalcore, and industrial music. The track features an intricate fusion of synth, drums, guitar, and bass, offering a layered experience that blends the band’s roots with new, experimental tones. As the track progresses, rave rhythms kick in, featuring the band’s signature heavy guitars and brutal vocals, establishing “Soul Drift” as the very definition of rave metal – dark, ominous, and energetic. Vocalist Jonny McBee fearlessly belts out, “I will never fear death,” as the song confronts mortality head-on.
The Browning has announced his upcoming album OMNIis now up for pre-order from FiXT, with the album releasing on November 8th and available to pre-order on digital, CD & vinyl.
OMNI is a visceral journey through the depths of deathcore, featuring ten powerful tracks, including collaborations with Nik Nocturnal and THE DEFECT. The album showcases some of The Browning‘s heaviest songs yet, like “HIVEMIND” and “Poison,” which together have amassed over 3.5 million streams across all digital platforms. “Deceiver,” the third release from the album brings a blistering critique of the deceitful narratives perpetuated by those in power. Accompanied by an adrenaline-fueled official music video, “Deceiver” blends the explosive energy of metalcore with the dark, mechanical undertones of industrial and the raw emotion of deathcore and its inspiration – the iconic delivery found in Rammstein’s “Du Hast.” The explosive single “OMNI” featuring THE DEFECT, which premiered at Revolver Mag, serves as a harbinger of the album’s fierce energy. The album ends with the ominous double capstone of singles “Come To Grips With Death and the End” and “Soul Drift” which flip a complete 180 while still maintaining the fierce vocals with “Soul Drift” illustrating the very definition of rave metal.
The Browning is an electronic metal band founded by Jonny McBee as a solo project in 2005. In 2010 The Browning transitioned into a full band and has toured the world with bands such as Electric Callboy, Static X, Fear Factory, and We Came As Romans. They’ve put out two EPs Standing On The Edge EP (2010), Time Will Tell EP (2011), and five albums, Burn This World (2011) Hypernova (2013), Isolation (2016), Geist (2018), and End Of Existence (2021). The Browning‘s current lineup is Jonny McBee and Hardcore Keem. The Browning has consistently pushed the boundaries of music, fusing genres and redefining heavy sounds. The band’s new line-up sets the stage for an electrifying chapter in their journey.
In 2011 on their full-length debut Burn This World, The Browning expanded the boundaries of heavy music through a seamless fusion of industrial, electronic, rock, and metal. In 2013 Hypernova represented a high watermark for the band. Named ‘Album of the Week’ by Revolver, it yielded the signature anthem “Bloodlust,” which clocked over 2.6 million views and nearly 2 million streams. In 2016, they reached another level with Isolation, earning acclaim from outlets such as New Noise Magazine and generating millions of views between “Dragon” and “Disconnect.” The fourth full-length album, Geist, released in 2018, would push The Browning even further into the boundaries of heavy music with added deathcore and techno influences. End Of Existence released in 2021 would go on to receive generally positive reviews with Dom Lawson of Blabbermouth.net saying, “As ever, if the idea of metal mixed with EDM gives you violent facial tics and a sense of impending doom, End of Existence makes no attempt to make amends or win you over. And nor should it. The Browning have spent a decade pursuing an eccentric and polarizing path, and they still sound like a flash of inspiration brought to life.”
The Browning officially signed to FiXT in late 2023, after collaborating with the label for several years, creating two official remixes for Celldweller and signing a merchandise deal. The band has since released three well received singles with the FiXT. “Poison” which scored placements on Pandora’s AMP: Fresh Cuts, Industrial Metal, New Metal, This year In Metal, New Metal Now; Spotify’s All New Metal,, as well as featured on the WWE. The single currently sits on over 1.5 million streams alone on Spotify since its release. “HIVEMIND” would go on to score placements on Spotify’s All New Metal, New Flesh (Knotfest), and The Core, as well as VEVO’s Incoming Metal. “Deceiver” hit Pandora’s New Metal Now, New Metal (Station), This Year In Metal; Deezer’s Killed By Metal, Deathcore, and Metal Radar, and; Spotify’s All New Metal. Their sixth full length album OMNI is set to hit the airwaves in November 2024
Jonny McBee, vocalist, and songwriter for The Browning, is a trailblazing presence in the metal scene. He also streams in The Browning Discord channel with fans tuning in to watch his creative process. Jonny is set to embark on a parallel journey, launching a groundbreaking new side project: The Defect.
Hardcore Keem, the band’s guitarist, brings his unique vision and sound to The Browning. Originally just a fan of the band, he officially joined The Browning on tour in 2022, now becoming a staple for the band’s future and marketing. Besides being in the band, he’s also a heavy music influencer and promoter with over 300K in social reach, including 100K+ followers on Instagram alone, and runs his own podcast, The Hardcore Keem Show.
The Metal Voice recently interviewed Girlschool guitarist/ singer Kim McAuliffe. She spoke about the band’s last North American tour (w/ Alcatrazz & Lillian Axe), touring with the biggest names in metal over the years, new bassist and maybe one career choice she would have changed.
When asked if it was difficult to let go current bass player Tracy Lamb “Normally people have trouble with drummers, we seem to have problems with bass players. Tracy left due to personal reasons. It’s a long story. She lives in Spain and her boyfriend had a bad accident, it was touch and go and she decided she could not come to America to stay with him. So now we ended up with Olivia Airey, Don Airey’s niece. She is a youngster. Now the weirdest thing about that is that when Enid left all those years ago. The late great Malcolm Dome recommended Olivia to us. But at that point Tracy Lamb had come back. So this time when Tracy went we just phoned her up (Olivia) and asked her are you up for it? And she said yeah and of course that is it, two weeks later she is playing with us. She comes from a very musical Family.
When asked if there were any career choices she regretted back in the early days , “Well there is one, sort of big one but I don’t really regret it cause I wouldn’t have been where I am right now. We got a choice for our fourth album Play Dirty, (82-83). We had a choice whether we could go to America, to L.A. and record with producer Spencer Proffer or stay in London and record with our heroes Jim (Lea) and Noddy (Holder) from Slade. We just wanted to record with our heroes and stay in London. Yeah we turned it down!
Authors note” In the same time frame when Spencer Proffer was working with Quiet Riot on their Metal Health album and persuaded the band to record Slade’s UK hit Cum on Feel the noize.

Finnish metal band Ice Exiled has released a new single “Anthropocentrum (Set Me Free)” from their upcoming album, which will be released via Inverse Records on November 29th 2024. A music video for the track has also been made and is available on YouTube, below.
“Anthropocentrum takes its name from the Anthropocene, an era defined by a human footprint. The song places human perspective inside an animal. While another species’ experience is beyond us, we have no reason to believe that their feelings of pain, loss, or despair are in any way less than ours. These emotions, along with hope and love, are explored in this track through emotive and powerful music”, the band says.
The music video was filmed in February 2024, directed by the band’s vocalist Miika Matilainen. Two versions of the track were made: the original, over 8 minutes long, and a shorter, four-and-a-half-minute version that follows a traditional verse-chorus-verse structure. “These are like two different songs, both have their place and, in our opinion, work well. The longer version will be on our upcoming album,” the band explains.”
Formerly operating under the name Archares, the band changed its name in early spring 2024. The name Ice Exiled reflects the band’s music: freshness, heaviness, and a Finnish sound. Along with the name change, the band’s lineup also underwent a transformation, now operating as a five-piece with a new drummer.
