In the midst of their stacked headline “Decade of the Swarm” Tour, Pittsburgh, PA Deathcore unit SIGNS OF THE SWARM have dropped new single IWONTLETYOUDIE— their first original music since 2023’s breakout LP “Amongst the Low & Empty”. The new song was once again produced by Josh Schroeder, whose subwoofer HAS been replaced since that album blew it on its would-be first full in-studio playback. Rumor has it he’s treating listening sessions of IWONTLETYOUDIE with caution—something the band didn’t do while writing the song.
“IWONTLETYOUDIE‘ marks the beginning of a new chapter for SIGNS OF THE SWARM: a story of an endless cycle of death and resurrection,” reveals SIGNS OF THE SWARM drummer and main songwriter Bobby Crow. “We like to use the time between albums to explore new ideas and sounds. We did this on the ultra-heavy ‘Unbridled,’ the more moshy ‘The Collection’ (featuring guest shouts from Kublai Khan’s Matt Honeycutt and Molotov Solution’s Nick Arthur), and the eerily melodic crusher ‘Pernicious’. IWONTLETYOUDIE touches on all of those and more; our goal was to channel the energy of deathcore that got us excited about it in our younger year, so expect the explosiveness of ‘Amongst the Low & Empty ‘ but so much more!”
BODY COUNT release their powerful rendition of COMFORTABLY NUMBfeaturing David Gilmour — a fresh take on the classic Pink Floyd track that explores themes of detachment and introspection. Gilmour’s seminal guitar work adds a haunting, authentic touch, seamlessly blending with BODY COUNT‘s signature intensity and Ice’s profound new lyrics, making the track a fusion of rock history and raw, modern energy. BODY COUNT has also revealed the release date for their new album, MERCILESS, set to drop on November 22.
“For me COMFORTABLY NUMB is an introspective song — it’s me acknowledging that I’m older now. I’m telling the younger generation, you’ve got two choices: you can keep the fire burning or you can give up. It’s me trying to make sense of what’s happening, but also pointing out that we’re all in a place where we don’t have to face reality. We’ve got flat-screen TVs and popcorn, and we can just sit back and watch the chaos of the world like it’s a TV show. It doesn’t feel real until it shows up at your door. I’m a little numb, too — we all are.”
David Gilmour on the track: “BODY COUNT‘s version of COMFORTABLY NUMB is quite radical, but the words really struck me. It astonishes me that a tune I wrote almost 50 years ago is back with this great new approach. They’ve made it relevant again. The initial contact from Ice-T was for permission to use the song, but I thought I might offer to play on it as well. I like the new lyrics, they’re talking about the world we’re living in now, which is quite scary. Ice-T and Body Count played in London recently, sadly I couldn’t make it, but if another opportunity came up to play with them, I’d jump at it.”
Portland, Oregon’s UNTO OTHERS spent their seasons in the abyss and arise from the other side with their third full-length NEVER, NEVERLAND.
The record is equally drey while never letting go of the energy and darkness that is UNTO OTHERS; one that owes as much to The Cure as it does to self-professed influences like The Sisters of Mercy and Iron Maiden. Simply put: this is the record where UNTO OTHERS prove themselves far more than just a one-trick, blackened steed, but instead, a band on the verge of something wickedly terrible and utterly timeless.
To celebrate NEVER, NEVERLANDs release, UNTO OTHERS have shared an electrifying performance video for album single “SUICIDE TODAY“. Gabriel Franco comments, “The song is about bad decisions, and how they can proliferate into a hard life, or a sad death. Living in a big city, you see a lot of sadness and despair. So much you can bathe in it if you want. I used to be fascinated with these things, and it comes out in a lot of our music. But I as I get older I am more interested in the silver linings that surround it all. The beauty of someone lending a helping hand, or a simple kind gesture. These are the ways one person can make a difference. ‘SUICIDE TODAY ‘ is a positive song. I hope someone who needs it can take something from it worthwhile.“
NEVER, NEVERLAND also marks a new epoch for UNTO OTHERS (rounded out by guitarist Sebastian Silva, bassist Brandon Hill and drummer Colin Vranizan). Having emerged in 2017, the band turned heads with the Don’t Waste Your Time EP, followed by the beloved 2019 full length Mana and 2021’s heavy hitting Strength LP. Now, UNTO OTHERS build upon the seductive and beguiling foundation they’ve hewn out of a bedrock of goth, classic rock, punk, black metal and heavy metal.
FEVER 333 continue to share peaks into their new album DARKER WHITE out October 4thvia Century Media Records under exclusive license from 333 WRECKORDS CREW. Earlier this month they shared the new single and music video for “DESERT RAP” and last week they shared two more new songs – “MURDERER” and “NOSEBLEEDS” – available to stream now. “MURDERER” is accompanied with an official music video.
Consisting of fourteen tracks, “DARKER WHITE is the intersection we will all find ourselves in at some point in our lives,” saysAalon on the theme of the new album. “It is the struggle we will inevitably face when identifying our metric for good or bad. Wrong or right. Dark and light. All based on our environment, social construction and cultural/psychological conditioning. It is the eagle-eyed observation of said intersection and the removing the shame after realizing we all experience it and it is up to us to find use of this taboo so it can be offered to the world as a beautiful story, piece of wisdom or a perspective that ironically changes your life for the better. DARKER WHITE is a sonic and social experience.”
Before releasing their sophomore album DIE URKATASTROPHE last Friday, September 20th, 2024 KANONENFIEBER dropped their last single and video.
Click here to learn the story of “WAFFENBRÜDER” (= Brothers in Arms) and watch the video:
As with its predecessor, KANONENFIEBER‘s second album DIE URKATASTROPHE is based on factual reports, letters and original documents from the surviving and deceased soldiers from the First World War. Its intent is not to glorify, because there is no glory in war. Everyone loses – their lives, their souls, their humanity. War is often depicted in an abstract way, through numbers and statistics. KANONENFIEBER aim to tell the stories of the nameless and the faceless in order to allow for a small glimpse of their personal horrors, and thereby the larger scale horror for mankind as a whole.
KANONENFIEBER‘s black and death metal isn’t meant to solely entertain, but also educate and raise awareness against the glorification of war. DIE URKATASTROPHE was recorded with Kristian Kohle (Powerwolf, Aborted, Benighted and many more) at Kohlekeller Studio, and features guitarist Maik Weichert of Heaven Shall Burn on the song “Waffenbrüder”.
For the release of the new studio album ‘Dracul Drakorgoth’ BLUTGOTT present the video for the title track in the ‘Balgeroth’ version, watch it below.
In 20 years, singer and guitarist Thomas Gurrath has created an entire band universe with over 30 CDs spread across more than 17 albums from Debauchery, Blood God and Balgeroth. He has united this Trinity of Blood Gods under the name BLUTGOTT.
Musically, the band moves across genres somewhere between Judas Priest, Slayer, AC/DC, Rammstein and Bolt Thrower. There is pounding death metal, classic heavy metal and groovy hardrock, sometimes with screeching vocals, sometimes with the distinctive monster voice, sometimes clean, and everything in between.
The lyrics – in German and English – deal with the band’s own dark fantasy universe: the World of Blood Gods. Named after the Blood Gods – biomechanical vampire dragons with demonic abilities.
The three most infamous are Bal-Geroth, the Bloodking of Knochenheim, Dracul Drakorgoth, the Debauchery Blood God and Setekh Drakorgaur, the Red Dragon. Together they form the Trinity of Blood Gods.
In the war zones of the past and future, on Earth, Eden, other planets and Hell, they fight brutal battles against elves, humans and dwarves, as well as other demons. The World of Blood Gods has its own miniatures and its own tabletop game, called Kings of Carnage.
Concerts of the various incarnations of the BLUTGOTT Metal Universe have been held throughout Europe, Russia and Asia. They have performed with Doro, Saxon, Dismember, Napalm Death, Destruction and many other well-known bands from the metal scene and played at major festivals such as Wacken, Summer Breeze and Bang Your Head. The albums are regularly in the top50 of the official German album charts.
The new album “Dracul Drakorgoth” will be released on September 20th and contains ten completely new songs each with the Debauchery Monster Voice, once with the German Balgeroth lyrics and also with the Blood God Heavy Metal voice. Available as 3CD Digi Pack, as limited edition box and the Debauchery and Balgeroth versions each as limited edition LP. Recorded by Dennis Ward (Unisonic, Krokus, Helloween).
