Following their 2019 album “From Voodoo to Zen”, Tides From Nebula, one of the most influential post-rock bands from Poland, returns after a five-year hiatus with a new album titled “Instant Rewards”. The album will be released on November 8, 2024 via the band’s own label imprint Nebula Records. A visualizer clip for their first single, the cosmic album opening track “Burned To The Ground”, is now streaming below!
What makes “Instant Rewards” special is the fact that the entire album was self-produced by the band. Tides From Nebula decided to return to their roots and take on the challenge of creating an album in the spirit of “do it yourself.” It’s a bold move, especially for a band with such a rich legacy, but the musicians emphasize that this allowed them to deliver the fully authentic sound they were aiming for.
“This album is a vision that is closest to our true selves. By working independently, we had full control over every aspect of creation, from composition to the final sound. It was a challenge, but also an incredibly satisfying process. ‘Instant Rewards’ is more than just another album for us – it’s our response to the changes that have occurred in the world and within ourselves,” says guitarist Maciej Karbowski.
The album was created in independent conditions, far from commercial recording studios, in their own Nebula Studio, which added a raw and authentic quality to it. For Tides From Nebula, it was an opportunity to fully express themselves and return to the roots of their creativity.
“Instant Rewards” is a blend of the raw energy from the band’s early days and the artistic maturity they have gained over the years. The album consists of 9 tracks and will be available on all major streaming platforms as well as in physical format on November 8, 2024. Founded in 2018 by mastermind and lead vocalist Bartłomiej “Варфоломей” Krysiuk and propelled by their critically acclaimed album, Hospodi, and relentless touring around the globe, the Polish Orthodox black metal icons formerly known as Batushka have revealed their brand-new band name – PATRIARKH!
Originally founded by Krzysztof Drabikowski in 2015, Batushka released their successful first album, Litourgiya, with vocals handled by Bartłomiej “Варфоломей” Krysiuk. Three years later, the band split up and both parties decided to keep going with the same name, until a legal dispute resulted in Krysiuk recently changing his band’s name.
PATRIARKH is finally free from litigation, and with a clear and fresh vision, the new band looks towards a bright future. Deeply rooted in Eastern Orthodox tradition and music, PATRIARKH combines black and doom metal and ushers in a new era with outstanding, ominous religious schemas that conceal their identities amid remarkable liturgies with their fans.
Conveying the spirit of true patriarchs and Orthodox sacredness, the band just returned from an intensive run through Latin America. PATRIARKH will soon possess European audiences on their “Prophecy” tour, wrapping up their last shows in Poland before heading to 28 cities in 13 countries. The final Batushka show will take place on December 13 in Melbourne, Australia.
PATRIARKH states: “DEAR PILGRIMS, FANS, AND FRIENDS! As you may have noticed over the past few weeks, we have been spreading the word about our latest concerts in various parts of the world. The time has come for which we have been preparing for the past few weeks – a time of FINAL CHANGES.
Over the past two years, we have been working on new music, a new album, and a new stage. It has cost us a lot of sacrifices and effort. Along with the new musical stage, we have decided to embrace a new chapter of the band under a completely new name. This is also the perfect time for all your attention to be focused on our music and what we have to say through it, rather than on legal or personal struggles that have plagued our minds like a cancer.
Now that we see how important it is for many people to discredit our hard work and divert attention from what really matters, our MUSIC, we have decided to lift this burden so as not to negate our efforts. We want to completely disassociate ourselves from all of this, change the band’s name entirely, and start a new chapter for ourselves as individuals and for the band. On the other hand, we appreciate how many people value us, the dedicated fans we have all over the world, and how much we owe to you. Therefore, we want to bury all negative emotions, disputes, and dramas along with the old name Batushka.
With new music and a new name, we aim to set a new direction and begin a new story. A story that we hope you will join us in building together worldwide because without you, our Pilgrims, it doesn’t make sense!
The change will not happen overnight, this phase will last until the end of the year. In the meantime, prepare for new music, a new image, and a new quality of performances that we want to introduce along with the new music.
December 13th will be a symbolic date. In Melbourne, Australia, the final farewell concert of Batushka will take place, and we will collectively bury this stage during the last liturgy.
Right after the new year, with the new publication, PATRIARKH will be born. The patriarch, along with the new covenant, will begin his reign and send his Prophet into the world!
Anticipate the blessing of your new Patriarkh and the new Great Orthodoxies!”

As Melodic Prog/Metal band WITHERFALL kick off the first of many European live shows at Candelabrum Metal Fest this week, Los Angeles-based dark melodic metal outfit WITHERFALL are happy to unveil the music video for their version of “Kings and Queens” – originally written and recorded by Aerosmith off their 1977 album Draw the Line.
“We really wanted to capture the songs subject matter on this video”, explains the band. “Given today’s charged political climate and the discontent on all sides with our civil servants, the world is surely having another Marie Antoinette moment… ‘Let Them Eat Cake’ – Kings and Queens and Guillotines indeed.”

Sounds Of The Forgotten Credits Produced by Zeuss, Joseph Michael & Jake Dreyer All Songs by Joseph Michael Furney & Jacob D Dreyer Published by NOCTURNES AND REQUIEMS (A.S.C.A.P) Release label DeathWave Records
Witherfall was formed in Los Angeles in 2013. Joseph Michael (also of Sanctuary fame) and Jake Dreyer (ex-Iced Earth/Demons & Wizards) built their new band around drummer Adam Sagan (RIP) and accomplished bassist Anthony Crawford (Allan Holdsworth, CHON). Since then, the group have released three highly regarded albums: Nocturnes and Requiems (2017), A Prelude to Sorrow (2018), and Curse of Autumn (2021) and an ep Vintage (2019). Not one to cut corners, Witherfall enlisted famed drummer Marco Minnemann (The Aristocrats, Steven Wilson) on Curse of Autumn, ensuring the foundations of singles “As I Lie Awake,” “The Other Side of Fear,” and “The River” were second to none. On the upcoming album, Minnemann returns to the fold with an album-only appearance, while drummer Chris Tsaganeas (Wax Owls) and multi-instrumentalist Gerry Hirschfeld (Willie Nelson) Witherfall’s newest permanent members.
Every Witherfall album is a defining moment. From the moment Nocturnes and Requiems thundered across metaldom to the group’s wine endeavors (Tempest Red Blend) with Charlie & Echo Winery, their video collaboration with Cig Neutron (Devil’s Workshop) on “The Other Side of Fear,” a beer partnership with Adroit Theory Brewing Company (Shadows Black IPA), and custom Funko Pop set, Michael and Dreyer have made Witherfall their mission. The journey to this point hasn’t been without toil and upheaval. Determination, however, is the key.
Witherfall are guitarist/songwriter Jake Dreyer, vocalist/songwriter Joseph Michael, bassist Anthony Crawford, drummer Marco Minnemann (recording only), drummer/percussionist Chris Tsaganeas, and keyboardist Gerry Hirschfeld.
DeathWave Records was created by Witherfall headmen Joseph Michael and Jake Dreyer as a vehicle for their music and other projects. Look for more exciting and trailblazing releases from DeathWave Records in the future.
The North German prog power quartet ANCIENT CURSE releases the second video from their upcoming album “Dimension 5”.
This is primarily aimed at their “progressive” fans, as it offers a prog-metal INSTRUMENTAL thunderstorm lasting over seven minutes, which will make the hearts of fans of this genre beat faster! Brave? Yes! Ancient Curse!
Tracklist: 1. Forevermore 2. Ave Maria 3. Isolation 4. Dimension 5 5. Deny and Destroy 6. Tunnel Vision (G-LOC Part 1) 7. In Memoriam 8. Dreams of Lucrecia (G-LOC Part 2) 9. Paranormal Coincidence (G-LOC Part 3)
The North Germans have been shining with convincing progressive power metal for almost 40 years. With the premise of “breaking new ground” (literally), the band achieved cult status in Cuba in the mid-nineties and were the first western band since the Beatles to actually tour there with their No.1 hit! Even though the band went noticeably quiet for a while, the new album – their second since 2020 – is even more impressive and multi-layered than its predecessor. The professional standard also applies to the live performance: whether headlining or supporting (Brainstorm, Rage, Victory, Rough Silk, Tankard and many more), Ancient Curse have always managed to captivate the audience with their energetic live show.
DROWNING IN BLOOD have released their new video ‘Liberation’, taken from the band’s “You’ve Won… But At What Cost?” album.
Drowning In Blood is a thrash metal 4-piece from Montreal with epic harmonies, headcrushing riffs and themes of war, freedom, revolution and liberty. Their music displays influence from Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Toxic Holocaust, Power Trip, Kreator and Exodus with some hints of Melodic Death Metal.
The band was originally formed of drummer Noah Muller (ex-False Gods), bassist Mathieu Brunet (Tribal Bones, Atomic Threat), and lead guitarist/singer Christophe Michaud (Grimhold). After a couple of shows, the band decided to get a second guitarist in order to make live performances more complete and they hired Justin Boisvert (Grimhold). After parting ways with Mathieu for personal reasons, the band hired Nicolas Tremblay (ex-False Gods, Eons Of Serenity) as new bassist.
The band released its debut EP Crush The Weak at the end of 2021 and slowly made their way through the local scene before releasing their single Resist, Revolt! in 2022. Their latest album “You’ve Won… But At What Cost?” has been released on August 9th.
