Worldwide known Italian bassist and composer ALBERTO RIGONI (soloist, BAD As, Kim Bingham, Vivaldi Metal Project, etc.) announces the new album “Kingdom of Shred” of his new project NEMESIS CALL.
Alberto says: “Even if my latest album “Unexpected Lullabies”, dedicated to my new born Vittoria Parini Rigoni, was released on June 4th 2024, I felt the need to compose new music (yes, I really can’t stop!!!!!). This time will be quite challenging because I’m willing to release an instrumental shred/prog/rock/metal/melodic album, that will feature many talented top notch musicians such as drummer Mike Terrana, Alexandra Zerner, Alexandra Lioness, Aanika Pai (11 years old!), Keiji by Zero (19 years old!), SAKI and many othersTBA/TBC). It won’t be easy to manage all such great musicians but I will make it!! Are you ready to face a new prog experience? The album will be released in Digipack CD and in high quality digital format approximately at the beginning of 2025 or maybe for Christmas!.”
As an independent artist Alberto Rigoni has launched a fundraising campaign to support the project. Support at http://www.albertorigoni.net/nemesiscall. 20% of the income will be donated to Lega del Filo d’Oro (https://www.legadelfilodoro.it/it), an Italian association which helps deafblind children! Thanks for the support!
Berlin-based rock and metal upstarters HERBST have revealed new details about their sophomore studio album, entitled “Spiegel” (German for “Mirror”), that is slated for a release on September 20, 2024 via Drakkar Entertainment! Album pre-orders are now available at: https://herbst.bfan.link/spiegel-album
“The song ‘Argumente’ (Arguments) is about the lack of realisation to let a loved one go, even though you have long since realised that the relationship with them has no future. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case, as we in the band have already experienced first-hand and there are plenty of examples out there of friends and acquaintances who have gone through something similar.” HERBST writes.
“You can’t let go of the habit; you’re actually inhibited in your everyday life because you want to break out, but you can’t bring yourself to pick up the handle, which would do you good to be happy and carefree again; because you’re holding on to (old) memories from (happy days). The song ultimately addresses the contradiction between heart and head, which – as is often the case in human relationships – do not come together.
The relationships we have are also reflections of our (shared or individual) characteristics. That’s why the album title ‘Mirror’ is and remains the most fitting we could have chosen. Everything is related to each other. And your life partner/companion is somewhere or at some point your mirror (image) if you spend enough time with them.”
A music video for the band’s album title track, “Spiegel”, has just recently been premiered here:
When the leaves fall and the wind blows through the streets of Berlin, it’s time for HERBST [engl. Autumn]. The German rock and metal act has dedicated itself to the rough and dark sound that breaks through the music scene like a storm. With heavy riffs and gripping beats they hit the Zeitgeist – intense and unmistakably melodic!
The four-piece featuring Oliver Weckert – with his distinctively melodic voice -, Mark Rötz on bass/backing vocals, Steffen Böhm on drums and Niels Gebhardt on guitar, stands for music that gets under your skin. Although their lyrics come in German, they try to reflect life in an unvarnished way that leave no listener untouched. Authenticity isn’t an empty promise here – it’s the foundation of every HERBST note.
With their much-acclaimed debut album, “Ein letzter Abend” [engl. “A last evening”], the band quickly took the German rock scene by storm, now, it’s time for a next chapter in HERBST‘s uprising career and the September-release of their much-awaited, new studfio offering “Spiegel” with Drakkar Entertainment! Pre-order the album HERE!
Spectacular times for CRIMSON VEIL: after fascinating fans under most ominous weather conditions at Metalfest Open Air (CZ), the UK based band open the second chapter of their myth-enshrouded “Hex” (September 20, 2024 through Reigning Phoenix Music) story today. Their new single and music video, ‘Illuminate,’ is an excellent portrayal of their stage acting, which should eventually be experienced firsthand to fully absorb the quartet’s art, completed by highly emotional tones of both vocal and instrumental sections.
CRIMSON VEIL explain, “‘Illuminate’ was written during a period of dark reflection, waiting for a new pathway to appear. It’s about letting go of your dreams and giving yourself over to the universe and trusting it will guide you out of a dead end.”
Always known for rising to new challenges, the music video for ‘Illuminate’ features contemporary dance, ballet and demonology, all performed by singer Mishkin and cellist Hana. Mirroring each other in a beautiful church hall, the pair perform a shadow and light dance ritual over a giant sigil chalked into the floor. Musically, the song is a construct of ethereal vocals on a bed of cellos, guitars and complex yet subtle drum patterns. As the song builds, singer Mishkin screams the lyrical mantra as the music explodes into a heavy instrumental before coming in for the final chorus. ‘Even If I Crawl As I Lay Under The Weight Of It All’ was the song’s original title but it was shortened to ‘Illuminate’ as its meaning is about waiting for the pathway to appear while in a period of dark reflection.
Pre-order “Hex” in the physical format of your choice (jewel-case CD, black & red opaque vinyl in gatefold), pre-save it on your favourite DSP or pre-order it digitally to receive ‘Illuminate’ and ‘Flinch’ instantly now, here: https://crimsonveil.rpm.link/hexPR

ABHORIA have shared a new music video for The Inexorable Earth. The Inexorable Earth is taken from the US dystopian black metal band’s latest full-length, Depths, which was released earlier this year via Prosthetic Records, and follows their recent spring tour in support of the album.
Speaking on The Inexorable Earth, Trevor Portz (guitar) comments: “The Inexorable Earth is ABHORIA in its purest form: relentless, blast-beat driven black metal with some melodic and death metal flourishes. This was the first song specifically written for Depths, and lays out the story that the album follows: Someone who has been locked inside, ignoring the nightmare that their world has become, finally ventures out… and it’s even worse than they expected. While it’s certainly not a political song, it was definitely influenced by the limitless destruction humans are hellbent on delivering to the planet and their fellow inhabitants. Pay close attention to Ben’s scream in the middle, which is insanely long and was done in one breath!”
While the groundwork for the lyrical content on Depths was laid in the dystopian-inspired songs of its predecessor, founder Trevor Portz’s vision is more fully realized on their second full-length. Whilst not quite a concept album, there is a thread that runs between each track; each unveils a different extreme scenario or revelatory terror for the surviving inhabitants in a hellish world. The nightmarish anthology details different Orwellian scenarios where the human condition is laid bare with all its ugly possibilities offered up for examination. How do they react when confronted with nearly inconceivable adverse events? How do extreme conditions shape their view of the world and of themselves?”
The band was inspired by many real life locations and situations, allowing their imaginations to embellish further fictional details to bring their bleak visions to life. The ominous, fantastical realm where ABHORIA’s storytelling exists is brought to life further still by the magnificent cover art by iconic artist, Dan Seagrave.
Standout track, The Well, tells the tale of a group of refugees escaping a compromised city in the aftermath of a war. Exhausted, dehydrated and losing hope, they come across a natural water source. Relieved, their thirst is slaked… but the relief is temporary, as they soon discover the water is tainted. Only one among their number doesn’t drink from the poisoned “well,” thus forced to watch helplessly as their friends perish agonizingly. The story was inspired by Montezuma Well in Arizona, where there is a high level of arsenic in the water, rendering it a tantalizingly dangerous prospect for many generations of people.
A reinvigorated line up has instilled a newfound confidence in the core members of ABHORIA. The result is an album rooted in the aggressive black metal core of its predecessor, but with new flourishes that push the boundaries of the band. Whilst recording took place in various locations, the resulting nine tracks are a cohesive, dynamic collection masterfully mixed by Zack Ohren. A fine balance of melody and intensity makes the album a compelling listen; for fans who were taken with the desolate black metal of their debut, there’s even more to embrace on Depths.
Abhoria tracklist: 1. Emergence 2. The Inexorable Earth 3. The Well 4. Within Our Dominion 5. They Hunt at Night 6. Devour 7. The Foundling 8. Ghost in the Smoke 9. Winter’s Embrace
