German Olympic death metal powerhouse RISE OF KRONOS have unleashed their second single “Conception Of Humanity”, taken from their upcoming studio album Slaves Of Time.
Following the crushing impact of the album’s first single and title track released a month ago, “Conception Of Humanity” dives even deeper into the band’s dark and aggressive soundscape. The track delivers relentless riffs, brutal intensity and a suffocating atmosphere, while lyrically exploring humanity’s destructive nature and the loss of control over its own creation. It further solidifies the album’s core themes of time, decay and existential oppression.
With their new album Slaves Of Time, RISE OF KRONOS continue to refine their blend of modern death metal, combining raw aggression with massive grooves and a dense, ominous atmosphere. “Conception Of Humanity” showcases another facet of the album’s uncompromising sonic identity and underlines the band’s evolution, both musically and thematically.

A full decade after their last studio album, Sweden’s WOLVERINE make a long-awaited return with Anomalies, released today through Music Theories Recordings/Artone.
To celebrate they have revealed the official video for Nightfall. At just under six-,minutes long it takes you on a euphoric journey. Talking about the song Stefan Zell says, “Wolverine goes pop! Seriously, a catchy song that I love. The lyrics do, however, deal with a significantly less catchy topic: death anxiety.”
This is Wolverine at their most contrasting. Beautiful sweeping hooks, however something darker lies beneath. The upliftingly bright melodies of ‘Nightfall’ represent one of the most immediate and even catchiest songs that Wolverine has ever recorded. Yet the immediate feel of the music is offset by some unremittingly bleak lyrics such as “Where memories should thrive and soar through the open skies between now and then, A desolate place, through darkness allowed to die, Shrouding the why…”
“That one is, lyrically, from my really darkest period, where I had death anxiety every night when I went to bed,” Zell admits. “It felt like someone stomping on my chest. Just wanting the night to be over. I was not in a good place in life. But I found the contrast between the music and the lyrics quite tempting in a way. You can almost dance to it once it gets going.”
This is the latest single to be taken from the album following ‘This World And All Its Dazzling Lights’ which carries an elegant, effortless beauty — a warmth that unfurls around the listener in luminous layers, and the first song taken from the album, ‘A Perfect Alignment’ – The first part of a trilogy of songs on the album, alongside ‘Circuits’ and the album’s opening track ‘A sudden demise’. Now that the full album has been released, listeners can drink it in, in its entirety, as it was meant to be.
The road to Anomalies has not been an easy one. It’s been a decade since the Söderhamn quintet last released a full album, 2016’s Machina Viva, and four years since their last EP, 2021’s A Darkened Sun, raised hopes that the Swedish prog metallers were back with a vengeance.
“Life got in the way,” Zell sighs when talking about what they’ve been up to in the ensuing years. “We released Still in 2006, that’s 20 years ago now! Up until then, we were really focused on the band. With Still, we thought we had the album, but everything just went quiet; it just didn’t take off.”
“We have always prided ourselves on creating albums that we feel proud of. We want to really feel like this is something we can stand by.”
Producer, Oliver Philips, who’s worked with the Swedes since 2001’s The Window Purpose debut album, and whose own band, Everon made their first new studio album for 17 years, in 2025 for Music Theories Recordings, was instrumental in getting things moving.
“When we started writing for this album, we again wanted to work with Oliver,” Zell says. “He’s produced albums before for us, and I wanted to record vocals with him again. And he helped us get in touch with [Music Theories Recordings founder] Ed van Zijl, and one thing led to another. It ignited our spark again. I’m also 20 years older now than when I recorded Still. To think I have a sober look at it now, I’m really happy to be able to release this album.”
Today, Zell is brimming with enthusiasm, fired up by the knowledge that his band – the Machina Viva line-up of Jonas Jonsson (guitar), Thomas Jansson (bass), Marcus Losbjer (drums), and Per Henriksson (keyboards) remains intact. For a band unafraid to delve into the disquiet corners of life, the mood is bold and upbeat.
After more than a year on tour, German heavy psychedelic quartet KANT return with a new single titled “QUALM”, marking the first glimpse of their next creative chapter. The track is out now via Sound of Liberation Records.
While the vintage rock approach that dominated Paranoia Pilgrimage still lingers in the background, “QUALM” pushes the band into rougher, louder, and more restless territory. The atmosphere remains dark, but the edges feel sharper and more urgent, hinting at a band in motion rather than reflection.
The band comments: “Qualm is omnipresent. Whether on the street, in a bar, or in your head. It’s the love–hate relationship between yourself and the haze that not only surrounds you but consumes you. Because of this, Qualm works in both German and English. While the word is a synonym for ‘smoke’ in German, in English it translates to ‘doubt’ or ‘a bad feeling.’ That is precisely what the song is meant to convey sonically.”
This dual meaning is deeply embedded in the track’s sonic character, where swirling psychedelia, driving rhythms, and a sense of unease collide into a dense, intoxicating haze.
“QUALM” will be also released as a 7-inch vinyl single. On the B-side, listeners will find the track “Vicious Circle”, previously available only online, making this the first physical release to feature the band’s full catalogue to date.
KANT is a heavy psychedelic band hailing from the underground music scene of Aschaffenburg, Germany. Formed in 2020, the band has quickly established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the genre, known for their intense live performances and mind-bending soundscapes.
Drawing inspiration from the psychedelic alternative scene of the late 60s and 70s, as well as the heavy metal and doom of the 80s and 90s, KANT creates a unique sound that blends distorted guitars, pounding drums, and swirling melodies with haunting vocals and experimental noise. Highly recommended for fans of King Gizzard & The Wizard Lizard, Witchcraft, Pentagram, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, Kadavar or Hällas!
KANT live: 13.02.2026 (DE) Frankfurt – Engelsburg 14.02.2026 (DE) Bielefeld – Blues Bar
KANT is: Marius Seidel – Guitar, Vocals Nicolas Jordan – Guitar, Vocals Elena Strähle – Bass Bryan Göbel – Drums
The next season of the ultimate Australian SF Western story is out today: JACK HARLON & THE DEAD CROWS deliver their new full-length “Inexorable Opposites” in a mind-blowing finale as scheduled on February 6, 2026 via Magnetic Eye Records.
With their fourth album “Inexorable Opposites”, JACK HARLON & THE DEAD CROWS deliver a doozy of a record. The Psychedelic Western Rockers from Down Under have taken a big leap that was made possible by breaking new ground.
It pays off that the Australians have dared to take numerous creative risks, of which several stand out: First off, “Inexorable Opposites” introduces new drum powerhouse Brayden Becher, who has literally given the band an extra kick. This was amplified by employing Lewis Noke-Edwards as a third party engineer for the tracking of the drums, a first for JACK HARLON & THE DEAD CROWS, having done their recording in DIY fashion on past albums. While the creative process was generally more collaborative than for previous releases, the album also comes with an extended range as it includes both the ‘heaviest’ and ‘gentlest’ songs the band have ever recorded.
Probably as important as the musical tweaks is the new direction that the lyrics take on “Inexorable Opposites”. While there are still new tales playing out in the universe of the eponymous science fiction Western character Jack Harlon, the themes of the new songs rather revolve around the real world. Vocalist Tim Coutts-Smith was inspired by experiences both personal and from recent years as well as being influenced by his work in mental health.
This is summed up by the album’s title “Inexorable Opposites” that summarises the frequently contrasting emotional and lyrical content by drawing attention to a most inspirational quote from “Man and His Symbols” (1964), the final work of Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung: “The sad truth is that man’s real life consists of a complex of inexorable opposites – day and night, birth and death, happiness and misery, good and evil. We are not even sure that one will prevail against the other, that good will overcome evil, or joy will defeat pain. Life is a battleground. It always has been and always will be; and if it were not so, existence would come to an end.”
Although the Outback is too far away to constitute a direct influence on JACK HARLON & THE DEAD CROWS, their atmospheric dark Western sound draws a connecting line from Australia to Arizona. It is part of a uniquely eclectic style that explores a wide range of genres and incorporates elements of blues, stoner rock, lo-fi fuzz, spaghetti western scores, and doom metal among others.
JACK HARLON & THE DEAD CROWS first incarnated as a side project of singer Tim Coutts-Smith around the year 2015. Over time, his steadily growing band developed into a full-fledged performing act.
From day one, Coutts-Smith centered his lyrics and themes around a fictional Western outlaw named Jack Harlon. He would often begin writing about real people and events, before turning them into characters and stories in a science fiction themed Western landscape.
JACK HARLON & THE DEAD CROWS are also known for their DIY approach, producing most of their albums and visual art internally. As a live act, the band has mostly toured and performed in Australia including sharing stages with international acts such as GREENLEAF, SASQUATCH, WO FAT, and WHORES.
So far, JACK HARLON & THE DEAD CROWS have released a self-titled debut EP in 2016, followed by three critically acclaimed albums and continuously growing recognition within the heavy underground: “Hymns” (2018), “The Magnetic Ridge” (2021), and “Hail to the Underground: Interpretations” (2023). The band also appeared on Magnetic Eye Records’ “Superunknown Redux” tribute to Soundgarden with their fuzzed-out, hallucinatory rendition of deep cut ‘Kickstand’.
JACK HARLON & THE DEAD CROWS deliver a beautifully matured and musically experienced version of their characteristic sound on the fourth album “Inexorable Opposites”. With adult lyrics that take their listeners seriously in a contemplation about the duality of life and the frequent contradictions of the self with the external world, the Australians show their growth as songwriters and musicians without losing the connection to the titanic fuzz and heavy riffs that helped put them on the map.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the rock sister-trio from Monterrey, Mexico, The Warning team up with award-winning regional Mexican superstar Carín León on a brand new collaborative single and music video entitled “Love To Be Loved” out now via LAVA/Republic Records. Listen HERE, watch the music video HERE, and purchase a limited-edition 7” vinyl HERE.
The Warning notably co-wrote the track alongside vocal powerhouse and superstar artist Teddy Swims, Rob Grimaldi, Anton DeLost, Boy Matthews, and Neil Ormandy. Meanwhile, the band worked with producers Grimaldi and DeLost to bring the song to life. Breaking the mold, it notably marks Carín’s first-ever collaborative release sung entirely in English.
“We are so excited about this song. As a rock band, this is something completely different for us and a chance to explore new sounds,” The Warning shares. “Originally co-written with Teddy Swims, the song naturally blends country, rock, and pop in a way that felt fresh and inspiring from the start. Blending musical worlds is always exciting, and working with our fellow Mexican artist Carín León made the experience even more special. It’s a collaboration that pushed us creatively and shows a new side of The Warning.”
“Love To Be Loved” tears down genre walls, finding common ground between these two distinct forces. Carín sets the tone for the track, delivering an emotionally charged verse with spirit and soul. His heartbroken delivery rests uneasily between the crunch of distorted power chords and a thick rhythm from The Warning. Boosted by heavy riffing and a Richter Scale-worthy rhythm, vocalist and guitarist Dany Villarreal carries the chantable chorus, “I just need love to be loved, to be loved, to be loved—by you.”
Fresh off his GRAMMY win this week, Carín shares: “I’m truly happy and excited about this collaboration with these amazing artists, The Warning, a band I deeply admire that reaffirms to me that Mexican music and Mexican rock are far from dead—they’re more present and stronger than ever. I’m also really grateful to collaborate alongside artists with such important projects for Mexican music and culture, and to be able to release this great song together. I truly hope people connect with it, appreciate it, and carry it in their hearts for a long time.”
The accompanying cinematic visual finds Carín and the girls holed up in a gritty dive bar. Amid tense card games, slot machines, and rounds of pool and darts, they keep winning…but none of it matters. Beneath the bravado, all they’re really searching for is love. Eventually, they take the stage and deliver a once-in-a-lifetime karaoke duet for the crowd gathered on the dancefloor of this dive.
Yesterday, February 8th, the group presented during the Super Bowl as the NFL Mexico special guests.
Most importantly, everything sets the stage for more to come in 2026 from The Warning.
Continuing a rapid rise worldwide, they concluded last year by appearing on a Grammy Celebration of Latin Music—broadcast on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. The Warning notably hit the stage with none other than Billy Idol and guitarist Steve Stevens for a scorching medley of “La Bamba” and “Twist and Shout.” Consequence hailed it as “one of the heaviest moments of the night.”
Prior, they released their new live album and first-ever concert film, Live From Auditorio Nacional, CDMX recorded and filmed in-front of a sold-out crowd of 30k fans . Listen HERE. Get physical vinyl and CDs, including exclusive D2C and signed editions HERE. Produced by Federal Films, Live From Auditorio Nacional, CDMX debuted in select AMC Theatres (NYSE:AMC) locations in the United States and presented under Cinépolis’ +QUE CINE in Mexico, Central America, and South America.
