Released for the New Year, OCTOBER NOIR ventures into the territory of cheesy horror and antics, with influences from films such as Evil Dead and The Exorcist, “A Halo Hung from Horns” portrays the physical adaptation of the lyrical content that explores the two faced nature of humankind that presents themselves as an angel and savior to their partner, only to discover their true nature as an absolute demon, betrayer, and conniving deceiver that merely grips onto their lover to drain them, use them, and ultimately leave them when their next victim arises.
Filmed in the mountains of Georgia, “A Halo Hung from Horns” devises comedic moments from a certain magazine that causes the possession to a well-renowned puke scene, to dance choreography in efforts to exercise the demon. The moral of the story? Never take yourself too seriously.
Started in 2017 by Tom Noir, October Noir transcends the genres of goth, doom, metal, and rock altogether, to create a truly one-of-a-kind sound. Formed in Pensacola, Florida, October Noir features drummer Tyler Fleming, keyboardist Doug Lane, and of course, lead vocals and bassist, Tom Noir.
With three full length albums out to date and nine singles, October Noir harnesses a unique sound that combines elements of synthy eighties rock with a more modern, metal twist. Comparable to bands like Echo and the Bunnymen, October Noir utilizes nostalgic influence from anthemic, melodic rock, and 80s Hair Metal, while putting their own dark and doomy twist on it all. With inspirations all the way from The Cure to Type O Negative and My Dying Bride, October Noir harnesses a thundering, deeply nuanced sound that can only be understood through listening.
The latest album “Letters to Existence” features a link to many easter eggs with samples from readings of Dante’s Inferno in “A Halo Hung From Horns,” as well as nods to many other legends throughout history. “For Honor” has been described by band members as “the most transparently 80s sounding track off the album.” Tyler describes it as the bands’ “Def Leppard song” for its heavy metal influence. And at the same time, in the words of keyboardist Doug Lane, it’s “gut-wrenching and torturously emotional slog in the best possible way.” It all comes to a perfect end with the final track “Winter” – a deeply emotional ending that plays off colorful and melodic tones before arriving at the bleakness of winter and the album’s end that leaves us wanting more.
About October Noir:
Started in 2017 by lead vocalist and bassist Tom Noir, Floria-based Goth/Doom-Rock group October Noir sets a foundation for the metal genre. Inspired by and drawing from numerous genres and artists such as The Cure, 80s Hair Metal, Lycia, Danzig, My Dying Bride, and Sisters of Mercy, and Type O Negative, October Noir utilizes various textures and layered sounds to evoke a dark and thundering sound. Paired with deeply spiritual and hard-hitting lyrics, Tom Noir, Doug Lane, and Tyler Fleming create a new kind of rock that blows audiences out of the water time and time again with every release.
Serbian Black Metal combo KOLAC released the self-titled single that gives name to the upcoming album as well, “Kolac“. The band’s third album will be released on February 3rd 2024 in collaboration with Pest Records, and pre-orders are now open here:
Here’s what the band had to say about the new single: “”Kolac” is THE song on this record. It’s the foundation upon which it is laid. The dominating force that drives it. Its aggression, its balance of melody and straight-forward black metal devastation encapsulates what Kolac brings on our third full-length album. Adding to it, the lyrics are the most direct of all written on the album. They paint the picture of a bloody revenge on the holy impalers. The most brutal, unrelenting, utterly furious chorus spews forth the hatred towards all violent missionaries in the history of organized religion. “
Led by ex-Thy Catafalque guitarist János Juhász, five piece Hungarian Death Metal act DAMNATION announce the release of their first studio full-length “Fátum” scheduled for February 18th via Pest Records. Recorded and mixed/mastered at Obsidian Sound Studio by Árpád Szenti “Fátum” evokes the most memorable era of Death Metal, in the vein of bands like Incantation, Morbid Angel or Gorefest and many more alike. The cover artwork is created by Stan Ivan.
With lyrics contemplating on the mortality of the universe, enshrouded by a dark, dense musical atmosphere, “Fátum” is all about one of the earliest fears of humankind: existential angst set in a celestial scale.
A few words about the album from the founder and main songwriter János Juhász: “I am really happy that this album has finally been made, and also thankful that I could make it with such great musicians.”
A first track taken off “Fátum” is now streaming here:

Southern California alternative rock outfit DIRTY HEADS spent the summer touring across the U.S. on the headlining “Island Glow” tour and are excited to share a new live- recorded version of their hit single “John Linen” which features rapper Yelawolf who was featured as an opening act on the first leg of the tour. The single is out today across all digital platforms via Better Noise MusicHERE along with a new music video featuring performance footage from the tour. Stream itHERE.
“We were stoked to have Yelawolf on tour with us,” shares vocalist JARED WATSON. “He puts on a great show and knows how to have a good time. So, we invited him up to run a verse and he delivered a moment that was one of the highlights of the show and tour.”
“It was such an honor sharing the stage with Yelawolf, he absolutely murdered this verse,” says guitarist DUDDY B. “I’m glad we were able to capture this moment live for y’all.”
YELAWOLF remarks: “Jared and Duddy really looked out for me on the tour we rocked together. Dirty Heads became instant fam and when the opportunity came to jump on ‘John Linen’ I was all over it! The song fuckin’ slaps…these dudes know their shit and I’m a snob about hip hop, especially…if I don’t vibe I’m out. This song, however, I was psyched to be a part of! Looking forward to more collaborations with the Dirty Heads!”
The original version of “John Linen” featured Alex Vince and Ivuss (aka pro surfer Ivy Miller) and was released in April. The single has since accumulated 78.5 million streams and its lyric video has 478K views. It is also featured on the deluxe edition of their critically acclaimed 2022 album, MIDNIGHT CONTROL,out now via Better Noise Music, and includes13 new tracks with acoustic versions of hit songs “Rescue Me”—which spent the entire month of August at #1 on the Alternative radio charts—“Life’s Been Good,” and “Island Glow,” threeLo-Fi versions of album tracks and three previously unreleased songs.
DIRTY HEADS’ eighth studio album Midnight Control featured 10 all-new songs, including their take on Joe Walsh’s 1978 hit “Life’s Been Good,” which the band performed on national TV on NBC’s “The Today Show” earlier this year. The song has been streamed over 30 million times since the album’s release in May 2022. The album debuted in Top 10 of Billboard’s Top Independent Album and Top Alternative Albums charts and has been streamed over 43 million times since its release, averaging 4 million monthly streams. In June, MIDNIGHT CONTROL was released on vinyl for the first-ever time via Better Noise Music. Get your copy now HERE.
LORD OF THE LOST starts the new year with a bang by hitting #2 on the Official German Album Charts with their new covers album Weapons Of Mass Seduction, as label mates DOMINUM reach #18 with their debut Hey Living People! LORD OF THE LOST finished their most successful year so far by releasing their very first full covers album, featuring songs from legendary Michael Jackson, Judas Priest and Billy Idol among others, on December 29, 2023. LORD OF THE LOST’s latest original album Blood & Glitter, released exactly one year prior, entered the Official German Album Charts at #1 early 2023, marking one of many significant highlights for the band, among representing Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest finals, breaking into mainstream media, joining Iron Maiden as special guests on tour for the second time as well as playing countless sold-out headline shows. The #2 chart entry is the perfect finish of an exceptional year for the band.
Despite an extremely busy 2023, LORD OF THE LOST is continuing full speed ahead into 2024, with their fast-selling “15 Years of LORD OF THE LOST” tour kicking off in March. Besides, the band has plenty of big festival shows coming up in the summer and has been confirmed for two dates in the US later in the year. Secure your copy of Weapons Of Mass Seduction now and make sure to get your tickets to the upcoming shows!
Chris Harms states: “With the release of a covers album, we entered the chart week with absolutely no expectations at all. Our main goal was to create this album to make ourselves happy by playing and recording a selection of our favorite songs by other artists. So, the charts were actually secondary. However, starting the year at #2 on the Official German Album Charts is sensational, phenomenal, and unbelievable! We congratulate our colleague Ikke Hüftgold on his well-deserved #1!”
A year after the release of their successful #1 charting album, Blood & Glitter (Official German Album Charts), LORD OF THE LOST are back with a covers album, Weapons Of Mass Seduction. The exciting new offering features plenty of genre-crossing tracks and wraps up the busiest year in the band’s history so far.
While the album is entirely composed of covers, Weapons Of Mass Seduction confirms LORD OF THE LOST’s creative ability to make even unexpected songs their own, and further confirms their status. The covers album comes in various different formats – some of them containing a second CD with 11 covers that are already released or have been played live. The deluxe boxset includes a third CD with 10 acoustic tracks, exclusively available in this format.
Weapons Of Mass Seduction features a wide range of songs from different eras and genres performed in true LORD OF THE LOST style, all surprisingly fitting for the band and hence forming a cohesive collection of covers. Classic heavy metal track “Turbo Lover”, originally by Judas Priest, meets modern pop hits in songs such as Sia’s “Unstoppable”, Bishop Briggs’ “River” and Zella Day’s “High”. Ultravox’ “Hymn”, followed by Michael Jackson’s legendary “Give In To Me” and Keane’s “Somewhere Only We Know”, expand the multifaceted selection even further. With added rougher elements such as heavier vocals, Bronski Beat’s captivating 80s electro pop hit “Smalltown Boy” gets a dark makeover in the hands of LORD OF THE LOST. An emotional version of The Pretty Reckless’ “House On A Hill” closes Weapons Of Mass Seduction impactfully.
A special 2CD edition of the new covers album provides a cross-cut of covers previously released or already covered live over the course of LORD OF THE LOST’s career. Among them are the Roxette cover “The Look” feat. Blümchen – already known from Blood & Glitter – “Children Of The Damned”, a homage to Iron Maiden, with whom LORD OF THE LOST experienced intense times during the last two years, and the cover of the Finnish ESC song “Cha Cha Cha” by Käärijä – sung by Chris Harms completely in Finnish.
