‘Shame’ resonates deeply with the raw and emotional journey of vocalist Oli Duncanson. Since openly revealing his true identity, the singer has faced a challenging path towards societal acceptance, a struggle that profoundly influences the lyrics of this powerful song.
Personal statement from Oli Duncanson:
“‘Shame’ was written about the feeling of not being able to accept your sexuality; an aspect of yourself that can’t be changed, and how it makes you feel that you don’t belong anywhere. It affects every way in which you navigate through life and won’t leave you until you come to terms and embrace it.“

French modern melodic death metallers SUJIN– formally known as Whisper Night – have released a video for ‘Bleeding Chains’, first single taken from the debut album ‘Save Our Souls’ to be released on February 16th via Scarlet Records.
Aggressive, catchy and always very intense, Sujin’s debut album aims to break down the boundaries and take the classic melo-death sound to the next level, embracing deathcore, progressive, thrash and even mainstream metal in the process.
Organically merging extreme sounds, rough vocals, punishing rhythms and epic melodies and solo, ‘Save Our Souls’ is about a planet on the verge of collapse – the Earth.
The artwork represents a pre-apocalyptic landscape where the last bastion of mankind took refuge on a gigantic tree; the sparkling triangle is the last power source of this broken world. It’s a strong symbol of rebellion and a message of revolt and hope from Sujin, whose members are personally committed to the preservation and defense of Nature.

Finnish heavy metallers ARCHED FIRE are proud to unleash the lyric video for “Wings of Chrome”, a track taken from the band’s second album “Trust Betrayal”, released earlier this year via Wormholedeath worldwide.
Heavily influenced by the classic NWOBHM bands, “Wings of Chrome” soars in the world of aviation. “It’s a story about a band that has a difficult flight to their next gig,” says Kristian Herkman, the vocalist.
In all its over-the-top drama, “Wings of Chrome” is pure heavy metal at its best.
“In the spoken parts we combined your everyday airline jargon with text from a Japanese kamikaze guide,” says Ari Väntänen, the band’s rhythm guitar player. “We contacted our heavy metal heroes from Spinal Tap and asked them to feat, but they couldn’t do it. Now we know why; there’s a sequel on the way! That’s even better!”
The band’s second full-length effort Trust Betrayal, out via Wormholedeath, takes their old-school metal game to a whole new level.
“A really brilliant mix of speed/thrash, US metal, traditional heavy metal, and power metal.” – Rock Castle Franken “It doesn’t matter if this was recorded in 1989 or 2022, this type of thrash is timeless and always welcome.” – Transcendin the Mundane “their polished, old-school sound will definitely jostle [your mind] as they make you bang your fucking head. Worthy.” – The Metal Crypt
FEANOR, the renowned power metal sensation, is thrilled to announce the exciting addition of two talented musicians to their lineup. The band has welcomed EV Martel as their new guitarist, taking the reins from David Shankle, and Mike Stark as their new lead vocalist, succeeding Sven D’Anna. With these new members on board, FEANOR is set to embark on an exhilarating new chapter of their musical journey.
EV Martel, a guitar virtuoso with an international reputation, brings a fresh wave of energy and skill to the band’s guitar section. With a proven track record and an impressive musical pedigree, Martel is poised to elevate FEANOR’s sound to even greater heights. Notably, Martel’s past experiences include recording and touring with the legendary Manowar, gracing stages around the globe and playing for thousands of people. His dynamic playing style and dedication to his craft align perfectly with the band’s ethos, promising fans an unforgettable musical experience.
Similarly, Mike Stark’s powerful and captivating vocal prowess is set to inject new life into FEANOR’s songs. Stark’s vocal range and stage presence perfectly complement the band’s signature sound, promising to deliver an engaging and immersive live performance for fans to revel in.
But the news doesn’t stop there. EV Martel and Mike Stark have already hit the ground running, actively participating in the realization of FEANOR’s highly anticipated new album. The band is collaborating tirelessly to fine-tune every aspect of the upcoming release, which is slated to hit the shelves next year. Fans can expect a collection of tracks that showcase FEANOR’s evolution while staying true to their power metal roots.
FEANOR’s existing lineup is further enriched by the extraordinary talent of Diana Boncheva, a violinist and string arrangements expert. The collaboration with Diana brings a unique dimension to FEANOR’s sound and demonstrates the band’s commitment to pushing musical boundaries.
Thilo Herrmann, one of the band’s esteemed guitarists, is no stranger to the metal scene. With a storied history that includes Running Wild, Grave Digger, and Risk, Herrmann’s expertise adds an unmistakable edge to FEANOR’s music.
The drums for the upcoming album are skillfully played by Emiliano Wachs, infusing the rhythm section with power and precision. Guiding the group is Gus Feanor, the band’s founder, bass and keyboard player, whose vision and leadership have propelled FEANOR to its prominent position in the power metal world.
“We’re incredibly excited about the infusion of new talent into the band,” says band leader Gus. “EV Martel’s guitar skills, Mike Star’s commanding vocals, and the collective expertise of our existing members have injected a fresh spirit into our music. We can’t wait for our fans to hear what we’ve been working on, and we’re confident that this new lineup will bring a whole new level of energy to our live shows.”
Finnish modern melodic metal band NORTHERN GENOCIDE is set to release their second studio album The Point of No Return on March 1st 2024 via Inverse Records.
The third single ‘To Serve The Pestilence’ is released today with a music video, watch it below.
Comments from the band: “To Serve the Pestilence tells about a world of misinformation and lies where man has no chance to find the truth. The song is a sweet taste of the more old school Northern Genocide sound. The catchy chorus and hooks will make even the most cynical listener pump their fist in the air. The song is a display of skill from the band’s bassist Arto, as he has co-written the lyrics with Tommi and shows his ability to growl throughout the song.”

Necrofierkept the black flame burning in 2023. Back at the beginning of summer, their new album was hailed upon arrival by Distorted Sound as “another stunning slab of black metal”. A&P Reactspraised the way the band’s raw energy compliments the warmer touches of GRAMMY-nominated producer Joel Hamilton. Burning Shadows in the Southern Night also landed on Heaviest of Art‘s year-end list for best cover art.
The Houston black metal band are now prepared to keep all that fiery momentum going well into the new year. These four horsemen are saddling up for Decibel Magazine’s 2024 Tour.
Headlining the longest-running metal tour in North America next year are Northwest black metal executioners Hulder. This will mark Decibel‘s 11th nationwide tour. It’ll also celebrate the magazine’s 20th anniversary. Joining the party are Philly vampunk warriors Devil Master and Floridian blackened doom swam things Worm.
“Total Southern Darkness across America!” says Necrofier guitarist and vocalist Christian Bakka Larson. “We are excited to embark on this journey with such good company”.

Burning Shadows in the Southern Night is out now on Season of Mist
But just because the Decibel tour is winding down in March, doesn’t mean that Necrofier are cooling off. The band are burning rubber all the way to the legendary Milwaukee Metal Fest! They’ll light up the stage on Friday, May 17 alongside labelmates and fellow American black metal conspirators Profanatica!
While it’s awfully hard to pick just one, “Destroying Angels” might be the most satantic track on Burning Shadows in the Southern Night. Dobber Beverly is so cold and merciless behind the drum kit that his fills could flay flesh. “Sacrifice my life in blood”, Larson screams. His bloodlust sounds so murderous, it’s like he’s being burned at the stake by those searing guitar riffs.
“‘Destroying Angels is about transforming yourself into something new after learning things you believed to be true were not. The song was also written while on mushrooms and lyrically is inspired by Selim from The Devil’s Blood. RIP’
