German folk rock icons SUBWAY TO SALLY have released their brand new single, “Eisheilige Nacht”, alongside a captivating official music video. With this, the German chart toppers are heating up the anticipation for their legendary concert series of the same name, with which they and their fans have been closing the year since 2009.
The Eisheilige Nacht has always been considered a set highlight in the calendar. Together with top-class guests, SUBWAY TO SALLY conjure up a rousing concert experience and impressively underpin their position as one of the most convincing live bands on the scene time and again. This year, SUBWAY TO SALLY will welcome Fiddler’s Green, Letzte Instanz and Manntra to their stage. The Eisheilige Nacht tour starts on December 14 in Pratteln, Switzerland, while the last show traditionally takes place in Potsdam, the band’s hometow, on December 30.
SUBWAY TO SALLY state: “The song “Eisheilige Nacht” carries a big name. We are fully aware of that and the song absolutely lives up to it. You can expect an anthem in the classic SUBWAY TO SALLY style, a soundtrack wrapped in black for the cold and dark time of the year, which finds a glowing and warming climax in December: The Eisheilige Nacht! It was clear to us from the beginning that this is no ordinary single, but a piece that will accompany us at every concert for many years to come.”

Fantasy Progressive Rock Trio KNIM has officially signed a deal for the reissue of their mesmerizing debut EP, “When A Star Falls,” slated for re-release on December 12, 2023.
Formed originally during the COVID restrictions, Knim started out as a recording project between guitarist Dennis Berry and drummer Peter Nicholson. The original musical idea behind the band was to blend heavy riffs with progressive song structures and complex time changes, and as the band grew into itself this evolved further to include atmospheric synthesizer sections and storytelling lyrical concepts.
The debut album When A Star Falls was originally released independently in late November 2022 to a positive reception, and the band is looking to continue evolving with a view to releasing additional material in 2024.
The band members express their excitement about this new chapter, stating, “We are delighted to be working alongside WormholeDeath for the rerelease of our debut EP “When A Star Falls”. We’ve put a lot of work into writing and recording this and we know Wormholedeath will do a fantastic job of pushing it out to all the right people.”
“When A Star Falls”
“When a Star Falls” is heavily inspired by various progressive rock/metal acts, particularly the likes of Tool, Porcupine Tree, and Oceansize, and the writing process often involved taking fairly straightforward riffs or ideas and simply experimenting with what would happen if the time signature was amended or the idea was chopped up digitally. The writing process initially started during lockdown, with ideas for what would eventually become “The Incongruity Of I” being born out of guitarist Dennis Berry and drummer Peter Nicholson performing home instrument recordings and then passing these back and forth online. This writing process persisted for the majority of the songs on the album, allowing for easier reflection on the longer songs’ orders and sudden changes of direction. Once the album had been demoed it was recorded by Ari Rannus, with the final product being the sum of over 18 months of hard work.

Greek veterans of THE MAGUS are proudly presenting their debut album ‘Βυσσοδομώντας’! The new offering is released via The Circle Music records today, October 31st, 2023, and it’s streaming in full via the Black Metal Promotion YouTube channel HERE.
The album is still available in various formats HERE!
Hailing back to 1989, Greek black metal outfit Necromantia was founded by the two musicians Baron Blood (bass) and The Magus (vocals, guitars, keyboards). The band’s music was characterized by a mix of black metal and death metal, with elements of Greek folk music and classical music. Over the years, Necromantia had undergone several line-up changes, but the band continued to release albums and tour, becoming one of the most respected and influential black metal bands from Greece!
Following the tragic death of Baron Blood in 2019, The Magus decided to disband Necromantia by releasing their final album “To the Depths We Descend” in 2021. But The Magus’ personal musical and mystical journey did not stop here. The inner black flame, which urges The Magus to create dark and extreme art which is expressed through music and lyrics, never ceased to burn.
In the summer of 2022, The Magus decided to give birth to a new musical project, entitled simply and appropriately; THEMAGUS. Joined by long-time associates, El (Soulskinner, Zaratus, Thou Art Lord, Principality of Hell etc) on guitars and Maelstrom (Necromantia, Yoth Iria, Thou Art Lord, Principality of Hell) on drums in order to complete the formula and start working on material for the upcoming album “Βυσσοδομώντας” (pronounced as: “Vissodomontas”), which will be released on October 31st, 2023!
“Βυσσοδομώντας” is an album that is meticulous down to its last detail. Every note, every riff & chorus, is not by chance where it was placed. Except El (Guitars) & Maelstorm (Drums) who make up THE MAGUS, a host of well-known musicians participated adding their personal touch (King Dude, IDVex (1/2 SOUTHERN NORTH), Hel Pyre (W.E.B.), Iraklis Gialatzides (SWAN CHRISTY), Manos Six (Manos Six and the Muddy Devil) & Christos Antoniou (SEPTICFLESH) who did the arrangements for the live choir. At the same time, five graphic designers tackled the artwork of all formats and captured in an exemplary way on paper the nightmarish thoughts of The Magus. Finally, a special mention is needed for the amazing production, mixing & mastering, done at Pentagram Studio by George Emmanuel.

“After years of incredible support from Decibel Magazine, we are honored to make it to the cover of Decibel“, the band says. “Eternal thanks to Albert Mudrian for always believing in our music, Mike Wohlberg for all of his artistic contributions to the band, and Scott Kinkade for capturing us masterfully, and everyone out there who has supported us.”
‘Ontological Mysterium’ is a labyrinth. The deeper in you go, the more this album twists and churns, luring you toward some monstrous final battle. The riffs on the title track slice like the blades of an Apache helicopter, while the battle cry that opens “Cult of Shaad’oah” will make you feel like you’re about to carve up a volcano full of giant, flaming snake warriors.
“Somehow these guys can take Iron Maiden, mesh it with ’90s prog-influenced death metal masters like Atheist, dispense with traditional metal song structures and create something that you’ve never heard before”, writes Metal Injection.
Lambgoatsays “Ontological Mysterium is a pholosophical treat cloistered within some of the most ravenously delectable death metal you could subject yourself to this year, perhaps ever”.

“Surprises always come up during writing — spontaneous ideas pull you into new territory and enable the realization of novel possibilities that previously were inaccessible.”
Such are the words from Horrendous drummer Jamie Knox when discussing the creation of the band’s fifth full-length, the highly anticipated ‘Ontological Mysterium’. Knox’s quote also encapsulates Horrendous’s approach to extreme metal. Since 2009, the band has capably tapped into the inaccessible by providing a fresh, unconventional take on death metal that harnesses technical brilliance with elaborate, mind-melding melodies, frothy, spewing vocals and labyrinthine song structures. This combination has made each Horrendous long play a clinic in the gratifyingly unorthodox. The trend continues on Ontological Mysterium.
The follow-up to 2018’s Idol was recorded, mixed and mastered at Subterranean Watchtower Studios in Virginia, which doubles as the homestead of guitarist/vocalist Damian Herring. While the band (completed by guitarist/vocalist Matt Knox and bassist Alex Kulick) finished much of the songwriting for Ontological Mysterium in 2019, its recording was delayed by the 2020 global pandemic and various life events. Horrendous eventually finished recording in early 2022 and mastered the album before the start of 2023.
The album upholds Horrendous’s position as one of the underground’s best outside-of-the-box extreme metal bands. Having long abandoned concern whether people would appreciate their “uniqueness,” Horrendous has embraced its role as a band willing to veer far from death metal conventions, intentionally stretching and breaking norms. To wit, the band primarily views its music as filtered through a death metal lens. This may be Horrendous’s defining trait: By not accepting parameters, nothing is off-limits.

Heavy rock sensations BAD As have announced that the band will release their cover for Joan Baez‘s ‘Diamonds and Rust’, set to be released later this year.
This is what John Jeff Touch, band’s vocalist, shared on their version of ‘Diamonds and Rust’: “Diamonds and Rust, composed, and performed by Joan Baez. It was written in November 1974 and released in 1975. The great Judas Priest recorded a cover of “Diamonds & Rust”, with some of the verses omitted, on their album Sin After Sin (1977). Some decades later the Italian metal band BAD As decided to make their own cover of that iconic song, played with their unique style, based on both acoustic and electric versions of the song.”
In addition, the band reveals that they are already working on their next full-length album with recently announced new line-up (John Jeff Touch – vocals, Alberto Rigoni – bass, Leonardo Caverzan – guitar, Iacopo Bergamasco – drums). More information TBA, stay tuned!

F.K.Ü. are to release a new single called ‘(He Is) The Antichrist’ from the new album called ‘The Horror and The Metal’. The single will be released on November 3rd on Despotz Records.
“Never part of any trend, it’s horror and metal till the end”
The closing line to the title track of the new album pretty much sums up the essence of F.K.Ü. Heavily inspired by 80’s horror movies and crossover thrash metal (mostly S.O.D. to be honest) the seed for what was to become F.K.Ü. was planted as early as 1987, but it would take another 10 years before the guys got their act together and actually created some music for the world to hear. Back then in the late 90’s, playing this type of music was probably the most uncool thing you could do, but they’ve always stuck to their knives and done their own thing and never followed trends in the current music scene. Now, after 5 albums and countless live shows, F.K.Ü. returns with their most defining and hard-hitting album to date: The Horror And The Metal.
The album is a simple mission statement and serves to cement the two fundamental pillars of F.K.Ü. Horror is the overall theme of the band and its movies from the 80’s serve as their main lyrical and visual inspiration, and Metal is what runs through these guys’ veins. With one foot in Bay Area thrash metal and one in east coast crossover metal, they have created their own concoction of thrashing horror metal anthems sure to ignite any mosh pit.
Once again produced by the band’s singer (who we in this case will refer to by his birth name) Lawrence Mackrory (BLOODBATH, KATATONIA, VOMITORY), the band locked themselves into Rorysound Studios in early 2023 to begin recording the new album. When they after a couple of months finally emerged through the front door (not unlike how Jack Torrance broke through the bathroom door with an axe) they had created a horror metal masterpiece that will eliminate any uncertainty of what their intentions are. Although they never left, it’s time for everyone to know that F.K.Ü. is back!
Quote from the band about the album: “We’ve never before felt this confident about an album. We wanted to be direct and to the point and we really trimmed the fat off these songs and made them the best they can be. Every second on the album needed to be engaging and we really feel we have achieved that. When it all came together we felt that, instead of creating an intricate concept album, we should just be as to the point as possible. That’s why we simply decided to call the album “The Horror And The Metal”, to just make it as defining as possible, a mission statement of what this band is about.”
About the new single they had this to say:
“Brace yourselves for this high octane thrasher chronicling the evil deeds of young Damien Thorne. No classic horror movie night is complete without The Omen, who together with The Exorcist and Rosemary’s Baby are the undisputed top trio when it comes to satanic horror films. It’s about time we gave it the attention it deserves.”
F.K.Ü´s new single (He Is) The Antichrist is released November 3 on Despotz Records, their new albumwith the name The Horror and the Metal is set for February 9th.
