Death/Prog metal band SUBTERFUGE will release their new album “Philosopher” tomorrow, Friday, 12th May 2023.
The video clip to the first single „Seven Kingdoms” can be seen below.
“Philosopher” is the final chapter of an unique musical trilogy started with their previous albums: “Projections from the Past” (2018) and “Prometheus” (2019). On the album the band combines death metal elements with heavy and progressive metal and additionally spiced it up with parts of saxophone. The material was recorded in an expanded line-up: Kinga Lis (vocals and violin), Mateusz Drzewicz (vocals), Tyberiusz łodwicz (guitar) and Witold Nowak (guitar) were joined by Karolina Kozar (keyboards, flute), Krzysztof Marchwacki (bass) and Łukasz Dziubiński (drums). Their unique musicality, talent and ideas combined with the rest of the band created an absolutely magical mix that fulfill the “Philosopher” album. It’s an album different from what you’ve heard before – it’s eclectic and progressive, gentle and powerful, full of contrasts. The band announces: “We are taking you to the world of Story Metal where no one has been before, a world of light and darkness, joy and sadness, a world filled with questions that are better left unanswered…”

In any serious conversation about death metal the name VOMITORY has to come up. Following their inception in 1989, between 1996 and 2011 they dropped eight of the most blistering albums the genre has spewed up, the quartet parting ways in 2013. However, the band’s retirement turned out to be short lived, returning to stages in 2019 to celebrate the band’s 30th anniversary, and now they drop their first new full-length in twelve years, the monstrous All Heads Are Gonna Roll.
For a preview of the album, a video (directed by Marcus Svensson / dpmarcus.com) for Raped, Strangled, Sodomized, Dead can be viewed below.
To watch the video for the first single and title track All Heads Are Gonna Roll surf over to: metalblade.com/vomitory – where the album can be pre-ordered in various formats.
Boasting the classic VOMITORY sound with a few new twists and turns, it is everything their faithful could have hoped for, the band having taken their time before committing to it rather than rushing in. “We weren’t feeling any pressure, it was rather about making a decision whether we should continue as a band, i.e. release new material, or simply put the band back in the grave again,” explains drummer Tobias Gustafsson. “We wrote a few songs first just for the fun of it, to see if we still ‘had it’, before we made the final decision to continue and make a new full-length album.“

All Heads Are Gonna Roll is best described as “fast, grinding, D-beat, fist-in-your-face death metal“, it features fresh aspects that are uncommon to VOMITORY records. “One thing in particular we did was to try to build distinct choruses in the songs, which is something we didn’t put too much effort into earlier,” explains drummer Tobias Gustafsson. “We have also spent a lot more time working with the backing vocal arrangements, which we certainly think paid off very well. It brings something new to our sound. We have also tried to write more straightforward riffs, like we did in the early 2000s.“
The instruments for the record were tracked in the band’s rehearsal space, on a mobile studio setup engineered by Mats Lindström, and was self-produced. This allowed them to work at their own pace in the hours that worked for them, rather than having this dictated to them as would be the case if they had rented a studio. “Although we had a lot of flexibility to choose our working hours, it was still crucial to keep the recording schedule as strict as possible, because it was so easy to say ‘let’s do it tomorrow instead’.” For vocals, they went to Leon Music Studios and engineer Rikard Löfgren, which was where they recorded their last three albums. They brought in good friend Christian Fredriksson (Vulkan) to play some guitar solos, but otherwise it is entirely their own work. With vivid horror movie-inspired artwork – with a hint of anti-religion thrown in for good measure – All Heads Are Gonna Roll really is the whole package for death metal fans, and a stunning return to form after so many years between releases.

BLACK STONE CHERRY are thrilled to announce their eighth studio album,‘Screamin’ At The Sky’, set for release on Friday 29th September via Mascot Records. The opus will be available on White Solid Vinyl, Limited Edition Vinyl Boxset, CD and Digitally. Pre-order now over at https://lnk.to/BSC-MLG
Today, the band reveal another new track, ‘Nervous’, together with an accompanying official music video, to coincide with album pre-orders going live. Earlier this year, BLACK STONE CHERRY released the album’s lead single, ‘Out of Pocket’, which went on to be a crowd favourite on the band’s recent shows.
The Kentucky-based band, featuring Chris Robertson (lead vox/guitar), Ben Wells (guitar/bkg vox) and drummer John-Fred Young (drums/bkg vox), are joined for the first time on an album recording by ‘new’ bassist, Steve Jewell Jr. (ex-Otis). The band’s fanbase will be more than familiar with Steve, as he joined BLACK STONE CHERRY in 2021.
Discussing the new video, the boys tell us:
“Filming the video for ‘Nervous’ was an amazing experience. Like being on a movie set! We spent the day in an old paint factory-turned-production studio that had all of these amazing sets for TV and movies. The actor, Mateo Palmitier, did an AMAZING job as the lead character and it was such a cool experience seeing all of these visions come to life thanks to our director, Kyle Loftus and his incredible team. We love how the video will go between our performance, a great story line, and some killer visuals!”
With regard to the new album, BLACK STONE CHERRY continue:
“Every band that puts out a new record will tell you they are excited – as they should be. However, we may take the award for being the most excited about releasing a new album into the world! We can guarantee that it’ll move you in one way or another. We had a lot to say lyrically, musically, and sonically. We pushed ourselves to create not only something relevant, but also pushing the envelope to bend the trend. We are truly proud of this collection of songs and we hope you’ll celebrate it with us.”
‘Screamin’ At The Sky’ features all-new material written collaboratively while on tour, but when it came time to record, BSC decided to try something it’s always dreamed of doing: tracking an album at The Plaza Theater in Glasgow, Kentucky – a legendary 1020-seat venue built in 1934 that boasts meticulous acoustics. “Every time we played the Plaza we wondered what it would sound like to record drums there. We finally decided to put all our eggs in one basket,” Chris says. In June of 2022, the band rented the whole place, brought in all its recording equipment and its trusty engineer, Jordan Westfall. They set up the basement as the control room and the stage as the live drum room. Time between recording sessions and incredible room ambience have resulted in a career high watermark for BSC.
BLACK STONE CHERRY’s last album, ‘The Human Condition’, released in October 2020 was their sixth consecutive No. 1 debut on the UK Rock Albums chart. The album’s lead single, ‘Again’ was the band’s biggest single in over 10 years in America, peaking at #15, and their highest charting record ever in Canada, landing in the Top 15. The album racked-up 50 million streams worldwide. Over the years, BSC has both headlined and rocked 12,000-cap arena shows and shared the stage with a wide range of superstars, including Alter Bridge, Def Leppard, Gov’t Mule, Nickelback, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company, Mötorhead, Halestorm, Stone Temple Pilots, The Darkness, and ZZ Top. In 2018, BSC performed in front of 100,000 people at the Download Festival as main support to Guns N’ Roses and in 2021, the band played the venerated Royal Albert Hall, immortalized on 2022’s live DVD ‘Live From The Royal Albert Hall…Y’All’.
Plans are afoot for more dates later this year. Stay tuned.
After much anticipation from fans, groove metal kings DEVILDRIVER will finally drop their 10th album and part two of their Dealing With Demons saga, Dealing With Demons Vol. II, this Friday, May 12 via Napalm Records!
Today, in celebration of this week’s release, the band has revealed the album’s unrelenting final pre-release single, entitled “This Relationship, Broken”. The riff-laden album closer hits as one of the record’s most breakneck-paced anthems – with erratic drums, aggressive riffs and a charged performance from celebrated frontman Dez Fafara.
DEVILDRIVER frontman Dez Fafara says about “This Relationship, Broken”: “‘This Relationship, Broken’ explores the severance that happens between two long time partners when they leave each other after years of turmoil.”
As DEVILDRIVER enter their third decade with nine full-length albums, countless international tours and worldwide renown, they prove more resilient than ever. As the world was upended in 2020, iconic groove metal leaders DEVILDRIVER didn’t pause, releasing the highly-acclaimed first installment of their two-part Dealing With Demons saga, Dealing With Demons I. Now, as society emerges more hardened and determined than before, so does Dealing With Demons Vol. II.
The new album represents celebrated frontman Dez Fafara’s psyche and the final purging of his demons that have long haunted the band’s music. Once again produced and engineered by Steve Evetts with additional engineering from guitarist Mike Spreitzer, Dealing With Demons Vol. II is inarguably heavier and relentlessly harsher than its predecessor.
International media mainstays like Revolver, Metal Hammer, Kerrang and Consequence lauded Dealing With Demons I, which debuted at #4 on the US Current Hard Music Albums Chart. Blabbermouth stated, “If the second half of this mammoth endeavor matches the first, this will be remembered as a pivotal moment in the DEVILDRIVER story.” If there is any question as to whether DEVILDRIVER is slowing down any time soon, Dealing With Demons Vol. II proves that 20 years into their career, even with their demons in tow – they move forward at the forefront of metal.
Track one, “I Have no Pity”, instantly keeps fans guessing with its contrasting, marching rhythmic groove and Dez Fafara’s icy, earworm warnings. The album’s standout production immediately shines, with the track’s thick riffs, haunting leads, room-filling drums and Fafara’s vocal prowess leading the way. Eerie, insistent “Mantra” drops a wave of melodic aggression on the listener, instantly inducing headbanging with its breakneck pace and occult lyricism. Dynamic tracks like “Nothing Lasts Forever” and “Summoning” cascade with alternating passages of sinister riffage and memorable chants, while extraordinary highlights like devastatingly grim “Through The Depths” – with its black metal-esque passages, deft guitar play and menacing lyricism – showcase the evolution of DEVILDRIVER in the new decade. “Bloodbath” is as brutal as its name suggests, ominously bending and pummeling with immediate aggression, as “It’s a Hard Truth” continues the onslaught, cautioning against delusion amid balanced melodic leads. Closer anthems “If Blood is Life” and “This Relationship, Broken” are the blood-soaked cherries atop Dealing With Demons Vol. II, bringing together all of the elements that make DEVILDRIVER the best at their craft.
Dealing With Demons Vol. II track listing: 1. I Have no Pity 2. Mantra 3. Nothing Lasts Forever 4. Summoning 5. Through the Depths 6. Bloodbath 7. It’s a Hard Truth 8. If Blood is Life 9. This Relationship, Broken
