When Gianni Pontillo, singer of the German hard rock legend VICTORY announced his own album, the curiosity was great how much the new songs would be oriented to the proven sound. Since today it should be clear that the Swiss shows a completely different side. “For The Love Of Blues”, the title track, which is released as a single and video, is a casual blues number that offers above all fun in the music and playfulness.
Singer Gianni Pontillo has left his mark on formations such as Pure Inc., The Order or Souls Revival with his voice and has refined all-star productions such as “Rock Circus” and “This Is Rock” by Das Zelt. Since 2019, the power tube is also on the road as frontman of the German hard rock legend Victory. With PONTILLO & THE VINTAGE CREW, he is now launching a new project with various guest musicians that perfectly showcases his flair for cultivated blues rock and singer/songwriter numbers. In addition to many Swiss colleagues, the album also features a top international star: Keyboard legend Derek Sherinian, who has made music history as a live or studio musician with bands like Dream Theater, Black Country Communion, Sons of Apollo, Alice Cooper, Billy Idol and Joe Bonamassa.

BLOODJOB from Giessen/Germany relentlessly delivers their uncompromising blend of death metal and grind since 2007. After years of dwelling in the underground and brutalizing their style with influences from slam, thrash and black metal, they released their first EPs “Scalptures of Laceration” in 2010 and “Misogynic Obsessions” in 2012. These raw pieces of disgusting death metal offered a first taste of their trademark style consisting of sickening vocals, nasty riffs and blasting drums. The following years were characterized by several lineup changes but also powerful live performances as they shared the stage with Entombed, Lividity, Ingested, Inhumate and other well established acts. In 2019 they returned on the scene with their self-produced first album “Sick Concept Humanity” which caused international recognition and was re-released by PRC Music in 2020. In contrast to their first EPs, the lyrical themes now matured from perverted tales of horror to misanthropic reckonings with our rotten society. Following the vein of its predecessor, they recorded their new EP entitled “Metastasis” in 2022 which will also be their first release with Italian extreme metal label Lethal Scissor Records. Despite ongoing lineup changes they’re now working on their next full-length record.
New music video by Ukrainian death metal band ORBSTRUCT for the song “Reaper’s Path” from the second full-length album Deimos Falling.
The plot tells us about an alternative vision of Death, as a kind of creature that has a certain life cycle and must be reborn in a new image at the end of this cycle. But every time a new candidate is needed for rebirth, who will follow its path – the “Reaper’s Path”, proudly walking through the desolate lands of the dead, where silence and peace reigns, and there are no wars, no regrets, and no remorse.
Death Metal band from Ukraine inspired by such iconic bands as Morbid Angel, Bloodbath, Vader, Arch Enemy and Carcass. ORBSTRUCT successfully combined classic Swedish and American death metal schools with themes of Death, Agnosticism, Atheism, Self-improvement, Self-development. The band’s mid-tempo guitar riffs create a viscous, oppressive atmosphere, while high-speed blast beats evoke primal aggression. In their sound and composition, ORBSTRUCT focuses on the dark mood and atmosphere of their music.
Following their much acclaimed, 2021-album, Creatures Of The Dark Realm, Swedish power metal act Bloodbound has shared a brand new track of their upcoming masterpiece, entitled Tales From The North! The band’s tenth studio album will be released on July 7, 2023 via AFM Records as a 2-CD digipak including a live CD, a strictly limited box set as well as coloured vinyl LPs, the pre-sale is available here.
When it comes to defending the core values of timeless power metal and combining them with fresh stylistic variations and exciting stories, Bloodbound have always been fighting at the forefront. The six-piece has proven their versatility and inventiveness countless times, and Tales From The North will make no exception; those who already know the sound of Bloodbound can imagine the metallic force the band employs to evoke this story. As lead guitarist Tomas Olsson recently unveiled:
“’Tales From The North’ is very much a concept album about the viking era. About the lives of our ancestors up here in the dark, cold and unfriendly environments of the north. Different legends and myths intertwine during the course of the songs, leading up to the epic battle of 1066, which marks the end of the viking era.”
After the band kicked off the new year with first album single “Odin’s Prayer”, today, they are presenting a new track taken of their Tales From The North! Says Fredrik Bergh comments. “The Raven’s Cry is one of my favorite tracks on the album. Here we have mixed our nordic folk music influences with an almost hymn-like chorus.“
Tales From The North was produced by Bloodbound, and was mixed and mastered by Jonas Kjellgren (Amorphis, Overkill, Sabaton) at the Swedish ‘Black Lounge Studios’. The cover artwork was created by Péter Sallai (Hammerfall, Powerwolf & many more).
Olsson continues: “The songs are more fast-paced and closer to some of our earlier stuff like ’Moria’ and ’Nosferatu’, but have more complex arrangements. Compared to the predecessor ‚Creatures Of The Dark Realm‘ there are heavier guitars and some deeper sounding keyboards. We have also incorporated some traditional nordic folk music instruments to fit the concept of the album. It`s still pure power metal but we’re trying to take it to the next level.”
In support of their upcoming record release, Bloodbound has announced an extensive headliner tour and to appear at several festivals such as Karmoygeddon, RockHarz, Masters of Rock, among others. Make sure to catch them live at the following dates this year:

Sixteen years have passed since Folk Prog Rockers LUMSK last released an album, but there’s good news for the band’s many fans, because on the 5th of May “Fremmede Toner”, the band’s fourth full-length album, is due to hit the streets on Dark Essence Records.
The title, “Fremmede Toner”, which translated means “Foreign Tones” is taken from a collection of poems translated into Norwegian by the author André Bjerke. The poems featured include those by some of the most famous European and North American poets, such as Nietzsche, Goethe, Swinburne etc.
So far nothing too unusual you may be thinking, but this is where LUMSK take the concept one step further, because, after having composed the music using the Norwegian version of the poems, the band then take those compositions and adapt them to the poems in the original language itself, as they explain:
Not long after the release of «Det Vilde Kor» back in 2007 we somehow stumbled upon a collection of poems by Norwegian Author André Bjerke. In this book, entitled «Fremmde Toner», Bjerke has translated and re-created poems from different English and German speaking poets. When we read those translations and re-creations an idea started to form. We wanted not only to write music to the Norwegian poems, but also write songs to the original poems. The idea of the concept was not only to make the same songs twice, but to make the songs mirror each other in a way, trying to somehow recreate the idea of a translation or re-creation. As with the poems the songs are not the same, but still familiar.
So, finally, after over 15 years, we are ready to present this work. The album, named «Fremmede Toner», consists of twelve songs, or 6 pairs. First you have the Norwegian poems, and afterwards you have the poems in their original form. Even though it has taken us 15 years to release this new album, we have not been working on it continuously over these years. It wasn´t until we completed our line-up with a new vocalist, Mari Klingen, and a new guitarist, Roar Grindheim, that things really started to happen. We are so happy to once again be able to release new music, and are excited to see how it will resonate with old and new listeners.
We really would like to thank those of you who patiently have waited and asked for news from us. The support from different places around the world have been important and moving to witness. It makes the enormous effort behind this album worth it in every way. We hope you will enjoy the album and the concept. It might be strange to hear Lumsk in German and English, but we are really satisfied with the result.
This concept is also reflected on the album cover by Per Spjøtvold, someone with whom the band has worked since the beginning, and, with mixing by Rhys Marsh at Autumnsongs Recordings, and Mastering by Arnstein Fossvik at AudioMaster, the track listing on “Fremmede Toner” is as follows:
Det Døde Barn
En Harmoni
Avskjed
Under Linden
Fiolen
Dagen er Endt
Das Tode Kind
A Match
Abschied
Under der Linden
Da Veilschen
The Day is Done
“Fremmede Toner” is actually the first album on which LUMSK perform songs in a foreign language, whilst musically it continues along the path that has earned the band considerable international recognition. Thanks to their unique blend of metal and Nordic folk music, bound together with rich textures and clever arrangement, “Fremmede Toner” delivers LUMSK’s most varied and intriguing work to date.
“Fremmede Toner” will be released in CD, Double LP and Digital formats and is now available to pre-order from the following
Formed in 1999 In Trondheim, Norway, it can be argued that LUMSK was likely one of the first bands to have been “built for folk” from the ground up. With their heavy guitars, keyboard and organs, violins, session horns and female vocals, LUMSK was one of the many bands who, towards the end of the 20th Century, were exploring the concept of regional folk traditions. This led to a growing interest amongst metal fans and the creation of a sub-genre all of its own.
Having undergone a number of changes over the years, LUMSK’s seven-piece lineup today includes Mari Klingen on Vocals, Siv Lena Laugtug Sæther on Violin, Eystein Garberg on Guitar, Roar Grindheim on Guitar, Espen Warankov Godø on Keyboards, Espen Hammer on Bass, and Vidar Berg on Drums.
Friday night. The weekend is still a brilliant prospect and the tiredness suddenly transforms into an energetic urge to have fun, to go on the prowl, to just LIVE. That’s when NIGHTHAWK’s perfect blend of classic AOR and world-class hard rock kicks in best. Unapologetic, in-your-face and brilliant-as-fuck. “Prowler”, their new album, delivers exactly what it promise: first-class rock’n’roll.
Then again, this band has the right pedigree to deliver the goods. Nighthawk started out as a solo project by Robert Majd (bass player in Metalite & Captain Black Beard). The idea was just to have some fun, play guitar and write some energetic rock’n’roll. The debut album featured a bunch of different singers. After that first album release in the summer of 2021 Robert got an itch to do more.
This time the stakes would be higher. With the world famous Abbey Road Studios booked, a band and a collection of songs needed to match the caliber of the studio. Björn Strid (The Night Flight Orchestra, Soilwork & Donna Cannone) joined on lead vocals, Magnus Ulfstedt (Ginevra) on drums, John Lönnmyr (The Night Flight Orchestra) on keyboards and Christan Ek (Captain Black Beard) on bass. Nine original tunes together with two covers (of Kiss and Bruce Springsteen classics!) were recorded live in the studio in just two days.
So, fasten your seatbelts. You’re about to take a rock’n’roll trip to the good ol’ Friday nights that are still to come!
“Prowler” will be released on LP (black vinyl, limited to 500 copies), CD and digital formats via Mighty Music on May 12th, 2023. Pre-orders are available here.
The single “Running Wild”, from the album, has been released and can be streamed here. A new single, titled “Free Your Mind” will be released on Friday next week.
