BAALZAGOTH, a band from Kostrzyn nad Odrą (Poland), makes it clear from the very first notes: there is no room for compromise, salvation, or mercy. Embracing the aesthetics of blackened death metal, the band delivers music that is brutal, direct, and consciously aimed at religious dogma. Their sound is a sonic assault – heavy, dense, and permeated with a darkness that not only accompanies but overwhelms.
Baalzagoth draws from the hellish legacy of the death metal scene—you can hear echoes of the merciless power of Morbid Angel, the suffocating chaos of Incantation, the ritualistic severity of Immolation, and the extreme intensity of Hate Eternal. However, this is neither a copy nor a nostalgic homage – the band takes what is heaviest, most sinister, and most primal in death metal, then ramps up the brutality to the breaking point.
Since its inception, Baalzagoth has consistently forged its own identity: anti-religious, dark, and ruthless. Their compositions are tightly constructed and precisely executed – massive riffs, a crushing rhythm section, and a tempo that leaves no room for breath. This is music that attacks head-on, without embellishment, without flirting with lightness – pure, primal power.
The culmination of this journey is the album “No God, No Savior” – the band’s most polished, ruthless, and mature release. It’s intense and conceptually coherent material, consciously evolving their existing sound toward even greater extremes and expressiveness.
All music was written and arranged by the band, except “Auto da fé” which was composed, performed and recorded by Michał “Joda” Sobczyński. Ika Klimaszewska (soprano vocals & vocal samples) appears as a guest on the tracks: “Satan”, “Excommunicatus ab humanitate”, “Auto da fé” and “Gloria Apostasiae”. Drums were recorded at Sound of Records Studio by Mikołaj Kiciak (Blindead 23, Leash Eye), guitars at Tetra Wave Studio by Krzysztof Kostencki (Morrath, Sothoris), and the material was subsequently recorded, edited, mixed, and mastered at Heinrich House Studio by Filip Hałucha (Azarath, Behemoth, Hate). The album cover artwork was conceived by Oktavius, with artwork and layout created by Ksenia Kot, based on a photograph by Maciej Pieloch. Band photography was done by Maciej Pieloch (Batushka, Hate).
The band comments on the upcoming release: “No God, No Savior is not just an album—it’s a manifesto of extremes. A sonic declaration of the rejection of the idea of salvation, an affirmation of chaos, and the triumph of darkness over the illusion of meaning. Baalzagoth doesn’t attempt to reinvent death metal. We remind you what this genre truly is: aggression, negation, and the unbridled violence of sound. No compromise. No god. No salvation.“
New studio album “No God, No Savior” will be released on June 6, 2026 in digital format and on CD via the Polish underground label Putrid Cult (pre-order).
Baalzagoth follows up their well-received title track announcing the album “No God, No Savior” with a second strike. The new single, “Excommunicatus Ab Humanitate,” showcases a heavier and more monumental side of the band, enriched by the guest appearance of soprano vocalist Ika Klimaszewska.

DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT announce a sixteen-date European headline tour this autumn, running from October 16th to October 31st, 2026. The run covers seven countries across Central and Eastern Europe, the Alpine region, Italy, and the Benelux, with a strong concentration of German dates closing out the tour.
The band’s live show has long been regarded as the most direct encounter with what their music is built to do. Where the records reward patient listening, the stage compresses that same emotional arc into something more immediate—the interplay of searing aggression and fragile, melancholic passages rendered in full force, with Tobias Schuler’s drumming and Nikita Kamprad’s visceral vocal delivery anchoring the room from the first note to the last. Shows from past tours have been characterised by an intensity that pulls inward rather than outward.
DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT – 2026 European Fall Tour:
16 October: Dresden, DE @ Groovestation 17 October: Kraków, PL @ Zascianek 18 October: Warsaw, PL @ Mechanik 19 October: Brno, CZ @ Melodka 20 October: Graz, AT @ Explosiv 21 October: Milano, IT @ Q-Hub 22 October: Wörgl, AT @ Komma 23 October: Sion, CH @ Le Port Franc 24 October: Langenthal, CH @ Old Capitol 25 October: Maastricht, NL @ Samhain (without Brnjsmin) 26 October: Cologne, DE @ Essigfabrik 27 October: Marburg, DE @ KFZ 28 October: Bremen, DE @ Tower 29 October: Hanover, DE @ Bei Chez Heinz 30 October: Rostock, DE @ Peter Weiss Haus 31 October: Stuttgart, DE @ Kulturquartier
The tour follows the release of Innern, the band’s sixth studio album, which came out via Season of Mist in September 2025 to widespread critical attention. A meditation on suffering, transformation, and personal reckoning, Innern is the most introspective and compositionally expansive work of the band’s career and has provided the foundation for their live sets since the autumn 2025 European headline run.
Tracklist: 1. Marter (9:24) 2. Xibalba (10:07) 3. Eos (7:30) 4. Fragment (6:24) 5. Finisterre III (2:00) 6. Forlorn (7:44) Full runtime: 43:12
With Innern, their sixth studio album, DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT return with their most introspective and compositionally expansive work to date. A meditation on suffering, transformation, and the fragile thresholds of the human psyche, Innern refines the band’s signature blend of black metal intensity and post-metal atmosphere. The title, German for “inward”, anchors the album’s conceptual weight: a turning away from the external, into a realm of personal reckoning, silence, and renewal. Across six meticulously crafted tracks, the band explores cycles of disintegration and emergence, inviting listeners to confront the deep and often contradictory nature of existence itself.
DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT formed in Würzburg, Germany in 2009, the brainchild of guitarist and composer Nikita Kamprad and original vocalist Tobias Jaschinsky. The band’s early beginnings were humble but explosive: their self-released debut quickly sold out, drawing attention across the underground metal scene. A reissue in 2010 with newly recorded drum parts by Christian Bass (Heaven Shall Burn, ex-Night in Gales) established the band’s first official lineup and led to extensive touring across Germany and Europe. From the outset, DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT were set apart not just by their technical prowess, but by a philosophical inclination that would become the band’s artistic hallmark.
Their 2012 sophomore album, Unstille, expanded on their debut’s melodic harshness, while introducing a deeper emotional weight. It also marked the first appearance of drummer Tobias Schuler, whose intricate and expressive playing would become central to the band’s identity. Though vocals on Unstille were still performed by Tobias Jaschinsky, he would leave the band shortly after its release. Kamprad took over vocal duties in the months that followed, stepping into the role of frontman in time for the writing and recording of their next album.
Stellar, released in 2015 via Season of Mist, solidified the band’s stature within the modern black metal landscape. Drawing from post-rock and progressive influences, the album embraced wider dynamics and cinematic structures, aligning them with the likes of Wolves in the Throne Room and Deafheaven, without sacrificing their own Germanic rigor and introspection.
In 2017, Finisterre signaled a conceptual leap forward. It confronted themes of isolation, personal dissolution, and spiritual finality across sprawling arrangements and stark tonal shifts. This period saw further lineup changes, with the departure of guitarist Sascha Rissling and bassist Giuliano Barbieri, and the arrival of Nicolas Rausch and Nicolas Ziska. Finisterre also marked their first chart placement in Germany and set the stage for increasingly ambitious live performances.
A live album, Live in Berlin (2019), captured the raw power and cathartic energy of the band’s concerts, affirming their reputation for immersive, emotionally charged performances. But it was Noktvrn, released in 2021, that truly redefined what DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT could become. Inspired by the ambiguous state between wakefulness and dreams and drawing influence from classical composers such as Chopin and Arvo Pärt, the album saw Kamprad experiment with clean vocals and subdued textures. It was both a thematic and sonic breakthrough and was received by critics as their most refined and contemplative release to date.
Now, with Innern, DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT move even deeper into the abyss. Produced, mixed, and mastered by Kamprad in his own studio, the album is an intensely focused work. “Eos,” the album’s lead single, contrasts war and renewal, imagining a post-human earth fertilized by sacrifice and reclaimed by nature. “Marter” follows as a searing portrayal of inner torment and emotional release—suffering not only as a source of agony, but as a path toward transcendence. “Xibalba” then confronts the machinery of fear—media, propaganda, and spiritual fragmentation—urging a return to our collective essence through introspection and clarity. And with “Forlorn,” the band delivers their most vulnerable statement yet: a delicate plea for emotional refuge, sung in English to underscore its universality. The album also marks the studio debut of bassist Alan Noruspur, whose presence brings a new emotional and personal depth to the band’s sound.
Musically, Innern leans into contrast and contradiction. Kamprad and Rausch’s guitar interplay oscillates between searing aggression and elegiac restraint. Noruspur’s basslines pulse with warmth and gravity, while Schuler’s drumming remains as meticulous as ever-bridging technicality with emotional nuance. The album’s production captures a sense of immediacy and live energy yet remains rich in detail and atmosphere. It is not merely a refinement of past styles, but a reinvention—one that places the listener in direct confrontation with the void.
DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT stand now at the peak of a fifteen-year evolution. Their music is as concerned with silence as it is with sound, as shaped by introspection as by fury. As they prepare to bring Innern to European stages in autumn 2025, they do so not as provocateurs of extremity, but as artists navigating the fragile space between collapse and clarity. In a genre often defined by spectacle, DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT remain committed to vulnerability, transformation, and truth.

Wormholedeath is pleased to announce the release of the official lyric video for “Renewal,” an impressive atmospheric black metal offering from German band Akantophis‘ latest album, Erneuerung.
Akantophis frames “Renewal” around the concept of transformation, both personal and universal. It underlines the idea that change begins within each individual, beyond any belief system. At its core, the track also reflects the band’s respect for nature, recognizing humanity as one part of a greater whole.
Founded in a small town in the Harz Mountains in 1998, Akantophis established a stable line-up by mid-2000 and made an early mark in the underground scene with their debut album Galaria: Terra@ Exitus (2001), followed by the live-plus-new-material release Live im Klima. The band went on hiatus in 2004, with members active in other projects including Hidden in the Fog, Throat Cut, and Psykra. They reunited in April 2017 with a revised line-up and released the 7-inch vinyl Wiederkehr in 2018. The MCD EXITUS XX (2020) concluded the band’s earlier chapter and set the stage for Erneuerung, their most recent full-length.
Blackment, the Finnish masters of diverse melodic metal, have released more new material from their upcoming second studio album. Along with the release of the “Afterlife” single, the band unfortunately also has to announce that the album’s release has been delayed from the originally planned date in June.
“The production of the last five tracks took a bit longer than expected, so we’re way behind schedule. In a situation like this, it’s better to take some extra time so we can polish the album to sound exactly the way it’s supposed to,” the band says.
The newly released “Afterlife” offers a great preview of what’s to come on the upcoming album.
“Afterlife is a really dynamic song, and I think it really highlights the strengths of every member of Blackment. The song showcases our lighter, more atmospheric side,” says Sebastian Nyandoto.
Guitarist-composer Saalas Ruokangas set himself the challenge on “Afterlife” of creating a song built around a single chord progression without trying to make it so-called “radio-friendly” music.
“You can only find that out by trying, and Afterlife’s initial ideas seemed to have the makings of such an experiment. Personally, I’m very happy with the end result. The song’s most essential elements are exceptionally simple compared to our other material, which allowed for a structure where those elements are introduced one by one, and as the song builds to a climax, they all come together at the same time,” says Saalas Ruokangas.
Sami Vuorenheimo, who wrote the lyrics, mulled over the song’s themes several times last fall.
“The theme emerged—loneliness and the desire to protect one’s loved ones to the very end—or beyond. This formed a cryptic story in which the anxiety is palpable. It may be that the next album will feature a continuation of the story with a twist, which can be inferred from the message at the end of the song,” Vuorenheimo adds.
The duo Allan Välimaa and Hille Sadehelmi, who also directed the previous “In Motion” video, are behind the “Afterlife” music video as well, though the concept was developed by the entire team. Preparations for the shoot included blindfolds, spray paint, and roses, the station master’s desk, as well as an old-school scouting expedition in the woods to find good filming locations.
“We decided to go with symbolism that complements the song’s narrative perfectly. The identity of the man in the cloak in the video is crystal clear to everyone! Allan handled the filming and the water bowl shaking flawlessly, not to mention Akseli’s spotlight effect. There’s also an Easter egg hidden in the classic style—comment and report this on YouTube to claim your parrot sticker!” Sami Vuorenheimo hints.

Blackment is a melodic metal band that was founded in 2014 at Hyvinkää, Finland. Their debut album “Plains of Oblivion” was released in autumn 2022. The album has gotten airplay in various European countries. In addition, the band was nominated for the newcomer of the year 2022 by Kaaoszine (a Finnish music news website). In 2023-2024 Blackment released three singles “Pariah”, “Ghost in the Machine” and “Freedom Fall”. The band also competed as a semifinalist in the Wacken Metal Battle Finland competition.
Over the years Blackment has developed a recognizable sound and style including catchy melodies, tricky yet punchy guitars, groovy drums and bass, atmospheric synths and a wide range of vocals with unique voice. The six-piece band has been praised for their energetic live shows and they have performed for example at Heavy Metal Heart Festival and at Semifinal club in Helsinki.
Hailing from Ähtäri, Finland, the masters of melodic death metal, Noumena, continue their journey towards their highly anticipated album release. The band is now releasing a brand new single, “Surunkehrä” (The Spindle of Sorrow), as a follow-up to their previously released banger “Kuolemankello”.
“Surunkehrä” is part of a continuum of melancholic, mid-tempo Noumena songs—a lineage that includes past tracks like “Saatto”, “Bleakest Essence” and “Sanansaattaja”. Guitarist and composer Ville Lamminaho sheds light on the song’s multifaceted origins:
“The idea sparked a couple of years ago when the band was listening to Lorna Shore’s ‘Pain Remains I’. The actual song came to life at home on the couch while strumming my daughter’s acoustic guitar. The melancholic and folk-influenced song gained dynamism through varying time signatures, and we aimed for a driving flow and pulsing rhythms in the arrangement, evoking imagery of both spinning yarn and heartbeats.”
The deep and mythological lyrical world is crafted by vocalist Suvi Uura, who came across the name “Surunkehrääjä” (“The Weaver of Sorrow”) in a book she read a few years ago. Upon hearing Ville’s composition, the name rushed back to Suvi’s mind and instantly felt like the right direction for the track:
“To me, the Weaver of Sorrow is a kind of traveler in limbo—a creature that lives off human grief and pain. She doesn’t cause sorrow; instead, she gathers it, spins it into thread, and weaves paths along which souls travel toward the underworld. She is a figure moving on the thresholds, appearing to those whose minds are broken or who have lost everything.”
Simultaneously, the band is releasing a music video for the track, directed by composer Ville Lamminaho. Inspired by the song’s lyrics, the video introduces the Weaver of Sorrow, portrayed by Suvi Uura.
The new single provides a strong foretaste of Noumena’s seventh album, which will be released in its entirety in August. While waiting for the upcoming album, Noumena invites the listener to journey deep into the underworld, where tears are spun into melancholy and heavy melodies offer the ultimate rest for a broken mind.
