Hailing from Italy, KRAMPUS is an 8 piece folk death metal band who launched themselves to the forefront of the folk metal scene. Krampus offers an eclectic array of folk sounds with the usage of bagpipes, flutes, whistles, violins, and the Irish Bouzouki partnered with the modern metal sounds of heavy guitars, aggressive vocals, and melodic keyboards. With every new offering, Los Angeles -based MY RUIN documents their life and wears their bloody ravaged hearts on their sleeve often reflecting what is going on around them both sacred and profane. Hi Tairrie, I’m Tarja. Welcome to Metal Shock Finland!

TBM – Hello Tarja, nice to meet you my rock sister!

My Ruin’s debut album Speak and Destroy was released in 1999 and your latest  7th full length studio album A Southern Revelation came out at the end of last year. In between there have been many other albums. Which one has been the most significant in your career and why?

TBM –This question is similar to asking a mother which of her children means to the most to her.  It’s very difficult to answer. Each album I have written and recorded is unique in its own way and represents a specific time in my life. I recorded Speak and Destroy in 1999 before I met Mick [Murphy] my guitarist/husband and it sounds nothing like the music we have been writing for much of the last 12 years. It was a very experimental recording which introduced My Ruin as my solo project which I fondly view today as my transitional album after leaving my former band Tura Satana. I met Mick in 2000 and we began a relationship which lead to us working together and recording A Prayer Under Pressure Of Violent Anguish together soon after. 12 years later we have recorded 2 live and 6 studio albums that we consider to all be significant and special to us. I also believe it’s important for your music to stand the test of time and still sound relevant 10 years later which I hope the fans of our band feel when they listen back to our previous albums. I think most musicians tend to feel that their latest recordings are always the most reflective of who they are as artists in that moment and in this moment A Southern Revelation is what defines who we are. I think the back story of why we chose to record and release it the way we did gives it a significance that stands alone in our cateloge which we are very proud of.

Stright out of Italy, melodic metal band LAHMIA offer up their latest album ‘Into the Abyss’ on to the world, with bone crushing vocals and melodies to keep you on the seat of your chairs. After reviewing their album I took the chance to ask Flavio Gianello (lead guitar, main composer) about the band, the music and the life of it all.

1. Welcome to Metal Shock Finland, I’m Dylan Raine, Can you introduce yourselves?

Hi Dylan and thanks to you and to Metal Shock Finland for the space you are giving us. We are Lahmia and we are from Rome, Italy. We play a layered melodic death metal in which you can find various influences: Swedish and USA death metal doom, black metal but also more classic stuff.

2. How and where did the music start?

The band met its present identity in 2007. In that year we released our first demo titled “An Eternal Memory” which received e great feedback but we actually were still in search of more personal and unique sound. If I put that CD on now I can hear several nice ideas but also a lot of stuff poorly developed.
One year later we released our second EP (“Forget Every Sunrise”) and the goal was almost achieved. The feedback was even better than on the first release so we knew we were on the right way. With demo we found our sound that was finally optimized with “Into the Abyss”: a balance between extreme yet melodic genres.

ATOM SMASH, a Rock Band in its true form is a fading thing. The genre has seen better years and there’s no denying it. Bodies pile up in dance clubs while rockers glam up their wardrobe for a piece of the dwindling record sales. Producers package ear candy so parents will do the purchasing, while kids do the ripping. The new Atom Smash is in every sense Rock ‘n’ Roll; “Beautiful Alien” is what they’re calling it. 1. Hello Serg Sanchez, welcome to Metal Shock Finland! Hola!
The group formed in 2006 by you and Paul Trust. How did you guys meet each other and where from you came the idea to form a band?

I was in a metal group that he was interested in producing. He convinced me to persue my own project with him. I had a lot respect for his sounds.

Hi Artimus, I’m Tarja. Welcome to MSFinland!

Hi Tarja, I’m doing great. Thank you for having me on MSFinland.

Please tell us when and how The Chimpz was born and introduce us the band members…

The Chimpz originally started as an incredibly fun project in a garage in L.A. around 2005. Since then we realized that we could push bounderies and take what we’ve always had to different and higher levels. The sky and beyond is the limit. The Chimpz have gone threw a few changes and now consist of  Sean (Capmaster fresh) on drums, Sonic on bass, Scary Cary on lead guitar, Chuck P (Mc vocals) and me Artimus on lead vocals and rythym guitar.

…mix punk, metal, and hip hop music to raving audiences… an interesting cross-over, indeed! But tell me what bands have influenced you the most, so that today your genre is this quite colorful mix?

My influences are a variety of bands and artists, but I strongly believe that what makes The Chimpz are the mixture of influences that everybody else in the band has, including me put together ranging from Faith no more, Rage against the machine, NWA, 2pac, Pantera,Metallica, nofx, Van Halen, Korn and the list goes on. It’s the the variety of influences mixed with our chemistry that makes our genre such a colorful mix.
