Tampere-based new wave metalcore band BEYOND AWARENESS released their highly anticipated debut album “Reflections” yesterday, on May 8th. The record began taking shape with the band’s breakout debut single “Crime”, which has already amassed over four million streams, and now comes together as a cohesive ten-track album.
“This album has been in the making for several years, so we’re incredibly excited to finally share this emotional release. Reflections is an honest and, true to its name, deeply self-reflective body of work. It explores inner conflicts and heavy emotional states, while maintaining a constant drive to confront oneself and understand the thoughts that lead to despair and pain. Musically, the album blends modern metalcore with elements of experimental electronic production and raw metal, forming a tight and dynamic whole,” the band explains.
During the final stages of production, the band’s producer James Carey suggested collaborating with Pontus Hjelm of Swedish metal band Dead by April. Hjelm immediately came on board after hearing the demo of the album’s opening track, “Rerun“.
”When I was approached by Beyond Awareness to sing on their track ‘Rerun’ I was very grateful and excited. Because, when I had listened to it the first time, I instantly knew I wanted to contribute to it. What an amazing song!! Huge chorus, heavy riffing, and world class production. I feel proud to be a part of it. Also, working with these guys has been super smooth. They are very humble, professional and focused on the vision of their art.”
“Rerun” leans toward a more melodic take on metalcore while still delivering enough weight to resonate with fans of the genre’s heavier side.
“’Rerun’ deals with a mentally exhausting state where past mistakes and traumatic experiences keep replaying in your mind on a loop—as if you’re forced to relive the same distressing moments over and over again. There isn’t much hope offered in the song, but perhaps the key lies in accepting the ghosts of the past and moving forward. Pontus joined the track at the suggestion of our producer James Carey, and his vision proved absolutely right—Pontus brought exactly the extra dimension the song needed,” the band adds.
To celebrate the release, Beyond Awareness are touring across Finland. The run kicked off yesterday at Tavastia Club in Helsinki, where the band opened for Hokka, and continues this weekend through Finland.
Finnish BloodRedNails released their debut album ‘Poems About…’ yesterday, on May 8th! The album is kind of a crushing musical collection of poems about humanity in the language of metal. The single ‘My Wrath’, which preceded the single in April, has received rave reviews from both the public and critics, and the debut album bodes well for the band on the rise.
The Turku based BloodRedNails will release their debut album Poems About… today 8th of May 2026 via V.R. Label. The common thread of the album is to combine the songs into a collection of poems. The album’s theme deals with the quirks and tricks of the mind and humanity. The album does not sit directly under any specific genre’s banner. The band describes the album as “nu-melodeath” and its influences can be found in the 00’s, in bands such as Children of Bodom, Lamb of God as well as Slipknot and Korn.
The album was concocted through mental illness and manic compulsion. The music draws on themany faces of mental health problems. Depression emerges in many faceted ways, from dark thoughts to rage caused by introspection and self-hatred and its effects on relationships. Poems About… continues rolling from where the singles My Wrath, Free and Proving Grounds laid their foundation. Even if the album is full of tempo and aggression, there is still plenty of room for catchy hooks and melodies.
The album also includes the charity single Slava Ukrajini dedicated to the civilians suffering from the war in Ukraine. The band is still committed to paying all profits from the song to the Angels of Freedom organisation. The cover art is also by Ukrainian Tony Kei.
The band has been a part of the Turku Rock Academy program. The predecessor singles have been produced by Márk Albert Bertényi and mixed by Jori Saloranta. As the album progressed, the production was done in collaboration with Bertényi and bassist Ian Perring. The rest of the tracks were recorded and mixed by Perring. The whole album has been mastered by Jackson Shuudifonya at Southwest Mastering.
Singer-guitarist Tony Ewart comments: The album ‘Poems About…’ depicts extreme emotional states and therefore it is very personal and important to me. It has helped me process many things which is why I hope it would help others as well.
Bassist Ian Perring continues: The album was meant as a love letter to our influences in the 00’s. It reflects what we find enjoyable in music on many levels. I wanted to bring out the joy and blistering speed of the playing, while being respectful of the deep emotional and personal layers of the songs.

We’re beyond excited to welcome GUN BARREL to the Metalapolis Records family! Formed 1998 in Cologne, the German Heavy Metal powerhouse built a reputation for combining traditional Heavy Metal with Hard Rock and a touch of speed and groove.
The GUN BARREL sound is driven by punchy riffs, anthemic choruses, and a raw, straightforward attitude that leans heavily into the spirit of bands like ACCEPT, MOTÖRHEAD, and JUDAS PRIEST.
Together, we’re opening a new chapter and can’t wait to show you what’s coming next!
French black metallers HAEMOTH re-emerge after years of silence. The secretive duo will release a new album titled “Black Dust” on May 22nd via Agonia Records. Listen to the new single, “When The Dust Finally Settles”, below.
“Black Dust” arrives fifteen years after the band’s last album, “In Nomine Odium” (2011), and marks their fourth installment.
HAEMOTH‘s founder – who goes by the same name – has launched the band in 1999 as a solo project, taking on guitar, vocal and bass duties. He was later joined by drummer Syht and the line-up has remained unchanged ever since. While Haemoth‘s musicianship is best known thanks to his other band, Spektr, his solo project is devoid of the industrial, ambient, and experimental touch that Spektr possesses, making more traditional black metal infused with vocals its main point of interest. What remains characteristic however, is the down-tuned, disharmonic and strongly distorted riffing HAEMOTH is know for, surrounded by an uneasy, negative aura.
Today marks the official unveiling of Denigration, the new full-length from UK technical death metal juggernauts INGESTED, out now on Metal Blade Records! To celebrate the release, the band presents a lyric video for “Oaths Betrayed.”
The band comments, “‘Oaths Betrayed’ takes the language of faith, war, and destiny and turns it against the systems that abuse those ideas. The lyrics are about promises written in blood and enforced with steel; oaths that were supposed to protect but ended up binding people to suffering. It’s a world where idols are pissed on, scriptures are burned, and yet people still march ‘through ruins to claim what’s mine’ because truth is the only thing left worth carrying. It’s the sound of realizing that the divine has abandoned you, and deciding you’ll carve your own laws into bone.
“This song almost didn’t make the cut, and now it’s one of the tracks we reach for first. Musically, it hits that high-tempo, groove-driven, 2010s-era death metal energy, spiked with breakdowns that feel like the floor cracking open. It’s urgent, almost martial at times, with riffs that march more than they sprint. Lyn’s lyrical contribution here adds a different edge, more confrontational, more fixated on personal agency in the middle of collapse. ‘Oaths Betrayed’ feels like a rallying cry in the second half of the record.”

For nearly two decades, Manchester’s INGESTED has stood as one of the UK’s most uncompromising forces in extreme metal. Champions of a sound that fuses precision brutality with increasingly dynamic songwriting, they’ve evolved from underground slam pioneers into a globally recognized, forward-driving powerhouse. With Denigration, the band begins a bold new chapter, one defined by reinvention, sharpened purpose and the arrival of a new voice at the helm.
At the core of this evolution remain founding members Sean Hynes (guitars, co-vocals) and Lyn Jeffs (drums), the creative backbone whose vision, chemistry, and relentless drive have powered INGESTED since day one. They are joined by guitarist Andrew Virrueta, who also contributes vocals to the album and bassist Thomas O’Malley completing a lineup that delivers the band’s most dynamic and commanding work to date.
In addition, Denigration includes guest appearances by John Gallagher of Dying Fetus on “Watch You Fold,” Damonteal Harris of PeelingFlesh on “Merciless Reflection,” Skyler Conder of Cell on “Dragged Apart,” and Kyle Medina of Bodysnatcher on “Dredge The Dark,” further amplifying the record’s scope and intensity.
Produced by Nico Beninato at The Arch Studios in Southport, UK, Denigration captures INGESTED at their sharpest and most forward-thinking. The album’s visual identity is equally striking, featuring artwork by Giannis Nakos of Remedy Art Design, whose detailed, eerie imagery reflects the record’s thematic depth and ferocious tone.
