THE QUILL release the single and video “Keep The Circle Whole”.The song is taken from the re-release of the long out-of-print and much sought-after 2006 studio album ‘In Triumph’ which will be released on 18 April on Metalville Records.
Mystical, hypnotic, and relentless – “Keep The Circle Whole” channels The QUILL’s signature heavy groove with spellbinding intensity. Pulsating riffs and commanding vocals weave a tale of power, control, and destiny. This track stands tall as a testament to the bands ability to fuse doom-laden blues with unstoppable rock energy.
Keep the fire burning – keep the circle whole.
The new version of “In Triumph” also contains an unreleased bonus track from the recording sessions at the time.
The album was recorded in collaboration with producer Tommy Newton (Helloween and UFO) at Area 51 Studios in Celle, near Hanover, Germany.
Various concerts followed, with the band headlining a short European tour, as well as a series of European festivals, culminating in another appearance at Sweden Rock.
‘In Triumph’ is also THE QUILL’s first album with new bassist Robert Triches, who replaced Roger Nielsson until 2012, and the last for the time being with singer Magnus Ekwall, who only returned to the band in 2017.

Award-winning guitarist and blues artist Erja Lyytinen has released “The Ring.” It’s the second single taken from the critically acclaimed Finnish guitarist’s forthcoming studio album Smell The Roses.
Released Friday March 28th, the Smell the Roses album is available to pre-order HERE.
“The Ring” is a straightforward upbeat rock song punches you in the face and pushes you to a wrestling circle for a proper sweat! The story is about facing challenges, when you have no other chance than to get i to the ring and defend yourself. Come on, let the game begin!
It’s been three years since the release of Erja Lyytinen’s last solo studio album, Waiting for the Daylight. Since then, the high-flying Finn has continued to tour the globe relentlessly, performing at prestigious events such as the Byron Bay Blues Festival in Australia, headlining HRH Blues at the O2 Academy in Leicester, and making her debut at the legendary Rory Gallagher Festival in Ballyshannon, to name but a few.
Throughout her career Erja Lyytinen has appeared on many television shows in her native Finland, but in the latter stages of 2024, the artist was invited to participate in The Masked Singer on Finnish TV. As one would imagine, Erja was sworn to secrecy about her role on the show; even her twin boys were left guessing whether their mum was on the programme. “I got to perform on The Masked Singer in Finland, where I made it through to the finals. It was such a fantastic experience, and I always love doing TV shows. My character was “Skeleton,” and I got to sing cool songs like “Master of Puppets,” by Metallica, “Running up That Hill,” by Kate Bush and “Hallelujah” by Jeff Buckley. I recorded my version of the latter as a single.”
Amid extensive touring activity and her stint on The Masked Singer, at the close of 2024, the Queen of the Slide Guitar released a new live album titled 20 Years of Blues Rock! The concert recording was captured in her hometown of Helsinki, Finland during an evening that celebrated a musical milestone – that being the 20th anniversary of the release of Erja’s debut solo album Wildflower.
During what was already a sterling year for the artist, in November 2024 Erja Lyytinen was recognised as an Angel of Rock at the HRH Awards in Great Yarmouth following in the footsteps of legends of the genre such as Doro Pesch and Jackie Chambers from Girlschool. “It really made me very happy. Especially being a Finnish artist who started playing guitar at fifteen years old and dreamed of playing abroad for audiences. It feels great and being recognized always gives me a push to improve myself as an artist. It also makes me feel so grateful to my fans who have been so supportive all these decades.”
Behind the scenes, throughout much of 2024, Erja was in the studio working on her upcoming full-length studio album. “2024 was very innovative for me. I started to write new songs in Spring 2024 when I had a chance between my hectic schedule,” says Erja. “On my last studio album from 2022, Waiting for the Daylight, we had lots of layers on each track – violins, keyboards, tens of guitar tracks and lots of backing tracks. With the new album, I wanted to go the opposite direction. For the album Smell the Roses I wanted to put the focus on the guitar riffs and guitar solos and make the band instruments stand out individually.”
Smell the Roses continues to showcase Erja Lyytinen’s musical evolution as the artist proceeds to push her creative boundaries with each release that follows. “The album’s backing tracks were recorded at Hollywood House Studios in Helsinki. I told my mixing engineer Matias Kiiveri to go for the sound of seventies rock albums. I have been recently listening to mainly vinyl and recordings from the sixties and early seventies,” explains Erja. “While mixing the album, we used some analogue gear like a two-track tape machine to get a fat and warm sound on the album. This sound and the organic way of creating music speaks to me a lot.”
Erja once again was at the helm of production duties during the recording of Smell the Roses. “I was working in the studio with my band for only three days, and all the backing tracks were recorded at that time. Then I recorded my guitar solos and vocals on my own at Sniper´s Studio in Helsinki,” confirmed Erja. “This is not the first time I produced and recorded my own album, so I knew what to expect from the task. There were long hours and hard decisions and a lot of guitar playing on my own! I didn’t let myself off easy in the studio this time either. I challenged myself to create more advanced solos than ever before. The album has some fully arranged guitar solos, but also some improvisational lead parts.”
Whilst the genesis of the artist’s last three albums centred around the breakdown of a relationship, by her admission she wanted to make the songs on Smell the Roses to be “edgier”. “There are songs about encountering deep sorrow, meaning getting the blues and subsequently going to hell. Topics like forgiveness, hope, lust, loss and betrayal have been inspiring my songs along with my love for nature. I wanted to add a bit of mystery to some of the songs too,” she says. “There are some puzzles you need to put together yourself.”
Like a lot of artists, Erja wants the subject of her lyrics to be open to the listener’s interpretation. “I don’t want to explain the songs too thoroughly but rather have the listener find their story and their interpretation of the song. Titles like “Going to Hell, “Abyss”, and “Empty Hours” probably tell a lot – this isn’t just an album played in a major chord with a smile on your face,” laughs Erja. “The album is a lot heavier than my previous ones, but it does still lift you up. The rhythms on the album are groovy and rocky and I´m pretty sure most of the songs will be fun to play at festivals and live shows!”
With a March release date, Erja Lyytinen is preparing to spring into action as she unveils her eagerly anticipated new studio album to her loyal followers around the globe. The album release will be accompanied by Erja’s most extensive UK tour since before the pandemic.
Smell the Roses, the new album from Erja Lyytinen, will be released on March 28th, 2025 via Tuohi Records. For further information, including an up-to-date touring schedule, please visit https://erjalyytinen.com/tour.

GOST‘s critically lauded Prophecy full-length is out now on Metal Blade Records. The record claimed multiple Billboard chart positions upon its first week of release, including #1 Electronic Albums, #14 Current Hard Rock Albums, #20 Top New Artist Albums, and more.
GOST exists in the dark crack between black metal and the most shadowy end of electronic music. Since the release of the Radio Macabre EP at the start of 2013, and the remorseless digital nightmare of their Skull debut album six months later, Texas-based multi-instrumentalist, producer, and main-brain James Lollar has become an increasingly singular force in music. Far more aggressive and sinister than the synthwave he’s often grouped with, GOST is a harsh and unique digital nightmare that takes the listener right into the heart of the abyss.
Prophecy serves as Lollar’s most exhilarating and dangerous sounding work to date. It’s a record that perfectly reflects the horror and grim anxieties of a world beset with religious and political overreach, and progress, “being rolled back to the fucking 1950s.” Prophecy was recorded by Lollar alone in Texas during a burst of creativity at the end of 2022. Following the experimentation and more melodic touches of 2019’s Valediction, the record also acts as something of a return to older roots, to recapture the spirit of GOST.
From the industrial scrape of “Death In Bloom,” the doomy “Decadent Decay,” and the demonic pulse of “Golgotha,” Lollar welds together elements of pulsing synthwave, the otherworldly nastiness of black metal, and the pound and snarl of Ministry at their most unhinged to create a whole that sounds genuinely dangerous, somewhere between metal and a rave in Hell.
Prophecy is available on CD, vinyl, and digital formats. Find ordering options at: metalblade.com/gost

Canada’s The Metal Voice recently interviewed THREE DAYS GRACE drummer Neil Sanderson while on tour.
When asked about the musical direction, when comparing it to the first single MAYDAY “The rest of the record, we have a lot of really heavy moments. We do love sort of down tempo heaviness. I mean, we listen to a lot of PANTERA and stuff like that, and that is contrasted with some songs that I think are really going to bring out the emotion, because they’re emotional to us. And I think that’s the strongest connection with THREE DAYS GRACE and our fans, is that we’re writing from the heart and from the gut and deep down in the psyche and putting it out into song. And when people can relate to that and see their own lives in that music, then that’s the most powerful thing you can have as an artist. So there’s a lot of that where we stay true to ourselves and we’re not afraid to write about the real deep down stuff. And that seems to always resonate with our fans because it’s coming from a real place.”
When asked about a release date “It’s looking like we’re gonna be releasing it in June (2025). We’re just putting the final touches on it… We’re past the recording stage. We’re doing some mixing right now and just doing some finessing, just kind of going over (everything). Some of the times we’ll go back to it and just see like what we can mute, what we can remove. Sometimes that’s an exercise in making a record that’s good because sometimes you just have too much stuff in there and more isn’t always better. So we kind of go through, at this process, and just make sure that every part in there is deliberate and is there for a reason and is making the song better. If not, it’s gone.”

Tobias Sammet comments:
“Number one in the German charts again – one doesn’t have to be a rocket scientist to realise that our fans play a huge role in this. And I am nothing but grateful for the fantastic reactions and all the success around the whole world. After all, the album has been put together with a lot of dedication and doesn’t really reflect the zeitgeist. It’s timeless Classic Metal or maybe Epic Rock, or Symphonic Metal. It’s melodic, haunted, embellished and it comes from the heart. And to everybody who’s determined to dream his own dream and walk his own way, here should be your encouragement: Don’t care about what others say or what’s flavour of the week, do your thing honestly and with as much passion as you can. Thanks to our fans, see you on the Here Be Dragons tour, kicking off in a few days.”

Featuring absolute AVANTASIA essentials such as spellbinding choirs and theatrical symphonic metal elements, multitalented mastermind and frontman Tobias Sammet also surprises fans old and new with plenty of intriguing fresh soundscapes. Here Be Dragons gives the celebrated AVANTASIA sound that has been carefully crafted over a quarter of a century an exciting and powerful spin. The new album is the most consistent and concise piece of art that the band has ever crafted.
The band’s impressive success story has seen nine previous studio albums (including the 2019 offering Moonglow that charted at #1 in Germany), gold awards, hundreds of millions of streams as well as headline shows at all important metal festivals and worldwide sold-out arena tours with tens of thousands of devoted fans. AVANTASIA is not showing any signs of slowing down – soon after the release of Here Be Dragons, the band will head out on an extensive arena tour across Europe, promising to deliver fans an immersive experience with their biggest and most epic production ever.
In typical AVANTASIA manner, the new full-length is rich in vivid storytelling and cinematic atmospheres, not to mention the highest level of musicianship. Opening track “Creepshow” is without a doubt one of the catchiest songs in their career. The energizing future hit truly welcomes the listener into the new era of AVANTASIA and will be an integral part of the band’s spectacular live shows. In contrast, the incredible title track “Here Be Dragons” (feat. Geoff Tate) is a classic AVANTASIA song and with almost nine minutes by far the longest on the album. Emotional, multifaceted vocal performances by both Tobias Sammet and duet partner Adrienne Cowan mesmerize on “Avalon”, while the heavy metal number “Against The Wind” (feat. Kenny Leckremo) serves as further proof of the versatility of AVANTASIA’s sound. In addition, Tobias Sammet welcomes Michael Kiske, Ronnie Atkins, Bob Catley and Roy Khan as guests on the album. Remaining well-balanced and cohesive, Here Be Dragons is undeniably AVANTASIA’s most powerful album so far.
The 10-track offering in its entirety was written and composed by Tobias Sammet himself, produced and recorded by Tobias Sammet together with Sascha Paeth, mixed by Sascha Paeth and mastered by Michael Rodenberg. The stunning cover art was once again created by acclaimed British fantasy artist Rodney Matthews. Here Be Dragons marks another masterpiece in the AVANTASIA catalog, leaving both fans and critics speechless and proving the band’s standing as a main force in the world of rock and metal! The album will be available in several different editions, with bonus albums included on select limited formats.

Michael Poulsen (vocals, guitar), and Jon Larsen (drums), and Kaspar Boye Larsen (bass) — are thrilled to announce their ninth album God Of Angels Trust. This album arrives on June 6 via longtime label Republic/Universal. Pre-order it here.
The album will coincide with plenty of summer touring on the band’s “Greatest Of All Tours Worldwide” with further dates and details below.
Today, the band shares the first taste of new music via the video for the first single “By a Monster’s Hand.” The song is a mid-paced riff-fest with no concessions to standard meter, juxtaposing pummeling rhythms with point-counterpoint hooks.
Watch the video, which splices footage of Volbeat in their most natural state of performing, all the while following an ominously unsettling and familiar face, here.
The video was produced by Ghost Atomic and directed by Adam Rothlein, the same team that lensed videos for prior Volbeat hits “Shotgun Blues,” “Die To Live,” and “Leviathan.”
With God Of Angels Trust, The Danish band — which has scored ten #1 songs on the Billboard Mainstream Rock airplay chart, the most ever for a band based outside North America — has thrown caution to the wind, ignored comfort zones, and paid little heed to traditional songwriting in the search for something more immediate and surprising.
The end result will thrill Volbeat’s dedicated legion of fans.
“In the past, I’ve taken a long time to write and obsessed over so many elements of the songs before finishing them,” says Poulsen. “This time, I wanted to make a Volbeat record without thinking too much about it. Instead of following any kind of structure I said, ‘Okay, there are no rules. I can do anything I want. I can start with a chorus or do songs that are just a bunch of verses stacked on top of each other. Anything goes.’ That was freeing for me and made it exciting to write this album.”
Poulsen’s excitement to thwart convention is palpable throughout God Of Angels Trust, a punchy, crunchy album that’s undeniably Volbeat, yet marches to a fresh new metallic and melodic energy.
Poulsen started working on songs for the follow-up to 2021’s Servant of the Mind in the summer of 2024. Volbeat was taking a year-long break from touring to give Michael a chance to recover from throat surgery and to tour with his death metal band, Asinhell. Driven equally by his excitement to record a new Volbeat album and by his determination not to follow convention, Poulsen worked on songs for a mere three weeks with bandmates drummer Jon Larsen and bassist Kaspar Boye Larsen. Amazingly, they worked on a new song at every rehearsal. Three weeks into the process, Volbeat had arranged half of God Of Angels Trust. That’s when Poulsen decided that having no rules meant he could follow his muse wherever it took him, and he veered off on a different path. He and the band still wrote and rehearsed two songs a week, but they started composing more familiar rock songs that drew from traditional elements.
The band entered the studio with their longtime producer Jacob Hansen in the fall of 2024. As with the songwriting, Poulsen wanted to work quickly and rely on instinct, so they just plugged in and started to play. To keep the music sounding urgent and immediate, Volbeat recorded live in the studio, playing as few takes as possible before moving from one song to the next.
When it came time to add lead guitar, there was no question that Volbeat would tap Flemming C. Lund, who currently tours with the band and worked with Michael in Asinhell. A mere 13 days after they started working with Hansen, Volbeat were finished.
As impressive as it is that Volbeat wrote and recorded an entire album in about five weeks, what’s more incredible is that God Of Angels Trust sounds as fleshed out, eclectic, and fulfilling as albums that have taken 10 times longer (or more) to create. In the end, creating such a strong album so quickly was a tremendous challenge that demanded Zen-like calm, a joy for exploration, maximal creativity, and razor-sharp concentration to pull off.
“In some ways, it feels like we’ve come full circle,” Poulsen explains. “If you start drawing a circle over an extended period of time, eventually you’ve going to get back where you started, and that’s how I feel now. I’ve dealt with medical operations, lineup changes, and all these things, and now it feels like a rebirth. It doesn’t feel like we’re doing our ninth studio album, it feels like we’re on our first album again and there’s something really refreshing about that.”
Volbeat will return to the road on the “Greatest Of All Tours Worldwide,” beginning in June and running throughout 2025. The tour begins in June with a co-headline Canadian run with Three Days Grace and special guests Wage War, which will be followed by headline treks in the U.S. with special guests Halestorm and The Ghost Inside, and Europe and the UK with special guests Bush and Gel. All dates are below.
Fans who pre-order the album from volbeat.dk or Universal Music Group up through 5pm local time on Sunday, March 9 will receive a code to access tickets before anyone else starting Monday, March 10 at 10am local time. Regular on-sales begin Friday, March 14 at 10am local time.
