The hard rock -duo HÄ/DA has released a new single and music video, Ball Buster, which tells a true, cautionary tale about meeting a beautiful lady with superb pool playing skills in Berlin. Although it is possible to interpret the lyrics in a different way as well, depending on just how dirty an imagination the listener possesses.
Strongly influenced by AC/DC, the Finnish duo HÄ/DA is a product of the guitarist Juho “Hässi” Hämäläinen and the vocalist Antti “DeeAa” Heikkinen.
“We’re definitely not aiming to reinvent the wheel here. The style of AC/DC is our guiding star here, no question about that”, the men explain.
Hässi also plays in the best Finnish AC/DC-tribute band Dirty Deeds Indeed as well as the hard rock band Rane Rautiainen & Paha Kaksonen. DeeAa sings and plays the guitar for the heavy rock -band Mosfite. Both have numerous other musical endeavors in their past, both together and with other groups.
Ball Buster is also featured on a five-song EP that will be released in March, “(Almost) 20 Minutes Of Love”.
As the release of their new album Everything Rots approaches CABAL unless another ferocious slice of deathcore with the new single ‘Redemption Denied‘. The new album Everything Rots will be released on March 21st via Nuclear Blast Records. In spring 2025 CABAL will support CALIBAN on their “Back From Hell Tour“. All dates are listed below.
Singer Andreas Bjulver comments: “When existence feels hollow, escapism can seem all too tempting, a few fleeting moments away from a depressing reality can feel like the answer, but once you start chasing this feeling it only gets worse. Addiction is living hell and no one but you can save you from it. There’s no divine intervention or redemption.”

Doom hellhounds KATLA travel into the depths of heartache and resilience with their newly released track, “Dead Lover”. The song is the second single to premiere from the three-headed Danish metal monster’s unmissable debut album, Scandinavian Pain, out March 21, 2025 via Napalm Records.
After years of honing their colossal sound and live energy, the band delivers an unrelenting blend of raw emotion, gritty riffs, and subterranean sonic battery. Scandinavian Pain not only marks a new chapter for the band, but also reflects their rise to acclaim – from humble beginnings at Copenhell Festival, to becoming a standout act in Denmark’s heavy music underground.
“Dead Lover” delivers relentless energy and powerful imagery, encouraging listeners to embrace their struggles and emerge stronger. Battling inner demons and cosmic horrors, the track pulses with raw emotion.
KATLA on “Dead Lover”: “This song was the first song to actually go on the album, as our first single ‘Taurus’ was kind of a standalone single by then. ‘Dead Lover’ was basically made in one day, as it was the perfect fit to that no-bullshit approach we wanted to make with the album. The lyrics were almost made as the song was being created in the rehearsal room, and pretty much hit the spot straight away. On a personal level, the ‘Dead Lover’ lyrics wrote themselves at the time, since Rasmus was also dealing with some very depressive and dark thoughts at the time. It is meant as more of an ‘uplifting’ song, as it also explores the subjects of getting through rough patches and coming out on the other side.”
Scandinavian Pain is a cathartic exploration of personal struggles, mental health, and societal critique. Songs like “Grim Jesus” dive deep into themes of overcoming inner darkness and rejecting oppressive systems, showcasing lyrics that resonate with the resilience of the human spirit. “Castle of Purity” is a searing anthem that calls out the abuse and hypocrisy in organized religion – a powerful statement about pushing back against injustice and finding strength in individuality. Produced by Lasse Ballade (known for his work with Solbrud, Alkymist, and Halshug), the record combines visceral sonic landscapes with a deeply personal narrative. Prepare to experience the raw power and unfiltered honesty of KATLA on Scandinavian Pain.
Scandinavian Pain also marks the debut of new KATLA bassist and vocalist Theis Thorgersen. His addition not only breathes renewed energy into the band itself, but imbues an evolved sound that is heavier, darker, and sharper than ever before. KATLA’s meaningful yet uninhibited sound and high-energy live performances have positioned them as a force to be reckoned with.
KATLA says about the album: “Scandinavian Pain is an album about the shame of feeling depressed in a country that in many ways seems to be out of any misery or control of others. The inherent feeling of guilt, the despondent thoughts. The weight of cultural Christianity and being part of a system that is destroying both ours and other lives. It’s about watching the newest season of whatever decadent TV show is on while children are being murdered daily. All the songs are different, yet similar. This time, there’s an affirmation for you, who might need it, a story telling, a short grindy track, something with a blast beat, but of course also heavy sludgy doom. Welcome to the house of pain.”
Scandinavian Pain track listing: 1. Don´t Let The Fuckers Get You Down 2. Goblet of Power 3. Dead Lover 4. Eating Grapes With Kevin Sharp 5. Taurus 6. Hunab-Ku 7. White Dagger 8. Grim Jesus 9. Castle of Purity

Luxembourg thrashers SCARLET ANGER are now part of the Metalville Records family, a new album has been announced for 2026.
SCARLET ANGER have a very good name in the European thrash metal scene.
The band was founded in 2007 by singer Joe Block and guitarist Fred Molitor. The first gigs were quickly followed by the release of a first EP called ‘La Realidad Es Triste …’.
With its successor ‘Kill The King’, SCARLET ANGER made a name for itself internationally for the first time. More aggressive and faster than its predecessor, ‘Kill The King’ not only garnered much critical acclaim, but also led to a worldwide record deal for the first longplayer ‘Dark Reign’, which was mastered by Jeff Waters and released in May 2012.
Classic comics and horror stories from the eighties and nineties served as the main inspiration for what would later become their second album ‘Freak Show’. The album, mastered by Jens Bogren, has a more melodic approach and was released in March 2016.
2024 saw the release of their third studio album ‘Martyr’, which enjoyed a very positive response worldwide.
SCARLET ANGER will be performing at festivals in Europe again this year and are also starting to work on their new album, which will be released on Metalville Records in 2026.

Jimmy Kay from Canada’s The Metal Voice recently spoke to Former Megadeth Bassist David Ellefson about the release and his partnership of the upcoming documentary about the life and times of Megadeth drummer Nick Menza. Entitled This Was My Life, Nick Menza’s Metal Memories With Megadeth And Beyond. documentary.
Ellefson also talked about the making of Rust in Peace and his upcoming new Podcast The David Ellefson show.
When asked about the documentary “Bayview updated the sort of tagline of the film, his life with Megadeth and beyond. I think for me going into it I just viewed it as this is Nick’s life yeah Megadeth was a part of it but that was not all who Nick was even when I got to know Nick. He came in sort of as an understudy for Chuck Behler he was on the crew driving the truck you know setting up the drums doing all that sort of biting his time waiting for his moment when he might be behind the kit. We didn’t even know if that was going to happen or not then one day it did. That was a very rough transition you know because at that time me and Dave were getting cleaned up from our old habits and old ways Nick was new in the bands uh we were just a three-piece, we were continuing to write Rust in Peace we did the Demos in December that year with Chris Poland playing filling in playing some second guitar just to sort of give the the Imaging of two kind of a two guitar Dynamic that Megadath always was. But never with the idea that Chris (Poland) would be in the band. Around the corner into the new year we auditioned Marty (Friedman) suddenly the lineups completed and we’re ready to go take on the world. During that time Nick was a good friend to me, he helped me get clean, he and our manager kind of had a two-headed attack on how to get the Daves (Mustaine and Ellefson) clean. I always say if a lot of dope and booze doesn’t ruin your friendship, a little bit of sobriety sure will.”
When asked if they were clean during the recording of the album ‘Rust in Peace’ “Yes we were clean, Dave (Mustaine) went to rehab one last time as me and Nick were actually putting the drums and bass tracks down. Dave comes back into the studio maybe a month later once he was back in the studio we you know finished the record up. Some of the greatness of that record was the impulse and the sort of explosive energy that like here we wrote this Record deep into our addiction and now here we are stone cold sober and anyone who’s gone through that transition knows when you get clean it’s almost like Let The Hulk out of the *** green suit.”
When asked was there a sobriety contract presented to the band “I remember coming home from the drug dealer at Ron Laffitte apartment and I was done. I remember breaking down crying and I just said Ron I need help and he looked at me and he said David I will help you I will drop everything to help you but you gotta want it I said I want it I’m done. Now it took a few months to turn the corner but that’s when he hired our band counselor John Bocanegra and we would do these band meetings at least once or twice a week. I would see John a couple of times a week myself and he kind of became my sponsor through the 12 step programs and took me through that process and then I got Sober by March 1st and stayed sober ever since. Ron was mentoring Aerosmith’s manager at the time who had gotten Aerosmith sober, so it’s kind of a similar Dynamic. It’s like (Steven) Tyler, like Dave (Mustaine) had to be clean like if the top guy ain’t clean it’s just we’re wasting our time but once Tyler got clean now everyone else needed to be clean so you know we went through this process. He even had Ron’s boss bring me in the office one day and say if you use, you lose, you get clean or you’re out of the band. I was pissed off. I kind of got sober out of resentment. It was like I’ll get sober, I’ll show you. There was no written agreement, it was just understood it’s like hey get clean or it’s over. I mean the band can’t work and we got to be clean. Marty (Friedman) wasn’t an addict, Nick enjoyed his beer and couple of bong hits or whatever but he he wasn’t an addict so to speak. So it’s kind of these two new guys coming in with me and Dave you know cleaning it up. The 90s was kind of the sober decade. “
When asked if Dave Mustaine should be worried about the documentary and will it be a fair assessment with his relationship with Nick Menza “I think it’s very fair and I went to great lengths to make sure that Dave (Mustaine) is viewed very fairly and he’s held in high esteem. There’s absolutely nothing slanderous toward Dave (Mustaine) at all in it. I made sure of that because you know Dave was my partner during that time and I think it’s fair. Dave (Mustaine) and I always had a saying you know you praise in public you criticize in private.”
Screaming Butterfly Entertainment, in partnership with Ellefson Films and BayView Entertainment, have announced the new date for the red carpet premiere event of the fully authorized Nick Menza documentary, This Was My Life, Nick Menza’s Metal Memories With Megadeth And Beyond. The highly-anticipated event will happen on Thursday, April 10th at the Laemmle Royal theater in Los Angeles, CA. Located at 11523 Santa Monica Blvd. West L.A., CA 90025. Members of the cast and crew will be in attendance for a Q&A session after the screening of the film.
The film is an in-depth exploration of the life of Nick Menza, the former drummer of Megadeth, and one of the greatest thrash metal drummers of all time. It is a collection of stories from his childhood all the way through to the end of his life, recounted by those who knew him best. The documentary, authorized by the Menza family, will be the first to memorialize the drummer’s legacy.
Following their much celebrated single ‘Superman,’CYHRA are pleased to release even more new music today. ‘Skin From Bones’ is the second release by the internationally recognised melodic metal band through their new label home Reigning Phoenix Music. Mixed by guitarist Euge Valovirta, and once again mastered by sound expert Maor Appelbaum as well as graced by artwork by Gustavo Sazes, the single is a raw expression of breaking free from the lies we tell ourselves and the burdens we carry. It’s about shedding layers of pain and deceit to uncover the strength within.
Being both a battle cry and a moment of liberation, diving deep into the struggles of confronting our inner demons and the falsehoods we hold onto, ‘Skin From Bones’ is a powerful anthem of self-discovery, resilience, and the painful yet necessary process of healing. Sometimes, to truly heal, you have to strip everything down to the core.
Introduced by hard-hitting riffs and a catchy keyboard melody, the single seems to go the ‘usual’ way, but CYHRA wouldn’t be CYHRA without occasional musical surprises, that’s why the band have interweaved a crossover-ish second verse into the track, guiding fans through the territory of rap and showcasing an untypical side of vocalist Jake E’s voice. But that’s not all as the bridge captures listeners with explosive breakdowns which additionally underline the thematic significance of ‘Skin From Bones.’
“Our second single, ‘Skin From Bones,’ is a bold step into heavier territory for CYHRA, but we’re not leaving behind the melodies and catchy choruses that define our sound. This track dives deep into themes of resilience and self-discovery, blending raw intensity with heartfelt emotion. We’re constantly evolving as a band, and ‘Skin From Bones’ is the perfect example of how we’re pushing our boundaries while staying true to who we are,” adds vocalist Jake E.

About CYHRA
As they approach their 10th anniversary next year, CYHRA have carved out a notable place in the metal scene since their founding in 2016 by Jake E (formerly AMARANTHE) and Jesper Strömblad (THE HALO EFFECT, formerly IN FLAMES). They were soon joined by drummer Alex Landenburg (KAMELOT, Luca Turilli’s RHAPSODY), guitarist Euge Valovirta (SUBURBAN TRIBE), and bassist Peter Iwers (THE HALO EFFECT, formerly IN FLAMES). Their debut album “Letters To Myself” was released in 2017 to glowing reviews, catapulting the group to global stages, crowned with a massive North American tour supporting SABATON and KREATOR.
Following Iwers’ departure, Valovirta also took over bass duties, and the band released their second album “No Halos In Hell” in 2019, which blended groovy metal with a poppy flair and featured the hit single ‘Out Of My Life,’ amassing about 11 million streams on Spotify. Their success continued with a European tour with BATTLE BEAST, UK dates alongside DELAIN, headline shows in select countries including Finland and Japan, and performances at major festivals like Masters of Rock, Bloodstock Open Air, Sabaton Open Air, and 70,000 Tons of Metal.
In 2020, guitarist Marcus Sunesson (RONNIE ATKINS, THE CROWN) joined, expanding the line-up. The pandemic pause allowed the band to craft their third album “The Vertigo Trigger,” released in 2023. The album’s tour brought them back to Finland to open for SMASH INTO PIECES and to headline shows in early 2024. Quietly beginning their fourth album, CYHRA ended the cycle with a Scandinavian tour with EVERGREY, leading into 2025 with their previous single ‘Superman.’
