Swedish hard rockers SEVENTH CRYSTAL are pleased to share the lyric video for the track “Oathbreaker”, taken from their latest studio album “Entity”, out now via Frontiers Music Srl.
The band commented on the new track: “Oathbreaker sets the tone for the entire album – a reflection on progress and its unpredictable consequences. As humans, we are driven by curiosity and innovation, but also by a naivety that we can control what we create. History has shown that progress always comes at a price – sometimes obvious, sometimes unforeseen – and we may not always be ready to pay it”.
Seventh Crystal explained the concept of the album: “We live in an age of social media, AI, filter bubbles and sensational headlines by unknown writers. Disinformation controls the masses and creates multiple truths where the reality remains unknown. The development of technology is largely about solving problems and fulfilling human needs. But can it also lead to the opposite and become its own master with humans as its subjects? A kind of being, an “Entity”.
“Entity” is a depiction of past and present in which this particular development is at the centre. “For good or bad?”, “Under or out of control?” – the listener is the one who gets to decide”, continue the band.
Seventh Crystal, who stormed on the melodic rock scene in 2021 since their stunning debut album “Delirium”, with this third full-length work, “Entity”, take everything up a major level (or two, really).
The album sees the band exploring and expanding different genres, bringing their melodic rock formula, to progressive rock fields, sometimes little heavier and back to their unique rock style.
Seventh Crystal is a melodic hard rock band from Gothenburg formed by Kristian Fyhr in 2019. What started as a solo project by Kristian, quickly grew into a larger endeavour when Johan Älvsång and Olof Gadd joined the project. Shortly after, Anton Roos and Emil Dornerus also joined the band, completing the initial lineup.
In 2020, the band signed a deal with Frontiers Records and released their debut album “Delirium” in 2021, making waves all around the world. Due to the guitar-heavy parts on the album, the band realised that they needed one more guitarist to be able to perform the songs live. Gustav Linde, an old friend of Anton Roos, took on the job, and the band began to work on their slightly more guitar-oriented follow-up album, “Wonderland”.
“Wonderland” was released in 2023, alongside the EP “Infinity”, establishing the band as an act to be reckoned with. During the fall, Johan Älvsång decided to step aside, and the band continued as a five-piece into the recordings of a third album.
Drawing inspiration from a variety of genres, from soft rock to hard-hitting heavy metal, Seventh Crystal showcase a diverse range of musical expression. The band aims to be authentic and serve as an inspiration, outlet, and escape for their audience. Their sound is characterised by bombastic productions, catchy hooks, and dramatic and emotional melodies.

Fear of Water, the solo project from hard rock veteran Dave Perry, has produced some of the most imaginative collaborations in the 2020s
A series of one-off unions have seen them join forces with a host of names from across the musical spectrum. Clint Lowery (Sevendust), Marcos Leal (Ill Niño), Elias Soriano of Nonpoint, Heidi Shepherd of Butcher Babies, Aaron Nordstrom (Gemini Syndrome) and more have accompanied Fear of Water across the years, not only delighting a legion of listeners but oft-times shocking them as well. The only thing that’s guaranteed with Fear of Water’s new releases is – it’s nothing you were expecting.
Now, Perry unleashes his most audacious project yet, as he and mixing maestro Eric Emery join DMX for a coruscating reimagination of the rapper’s “X Gon Give It To Ya.” Although, that said, it’s not as great a leap as you might expect, as Perry explains.
“DMX has always had a metal energy in his voice so this collaboration felt very organic. I’m honored to have this opportunity to breathe new life into such a classic bad-ass song. I wish we could make an entire album together!”
After hearing firsthand how land developers are tearing down Costa Rica’s rain forest, two angry metal heads decided they weren’t going to sit around and rust in peace. Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren and his old guitarist Sylvain Demercastel started Savage Lands, the music industry’s first artist-run environmental non-profit.
100% of the royalties from Savage Lands’ debut album support their ongoing preservation projects in Costa Rica and other countries. Army of the Trees was released yesterday, Friday, February 14, and you can hear all 10 star-studded songs today by listening to the full album stream on the Season of Mist YouTube channel.
“Metalheads have always been powerful and passionate people in my eyes”, says Arch Enemy front woman Alissa White-Gluz, who stars as the queen of the jungle on the latest single from Army of the Trees. “I hold deep gratitude for Savage Lands and their relentless work in safeguarding the fragile beauty of Costa Rica’s ecosystem”.
Savage Lands’ roots run deep. Dirk and Sylvain first met in France during the late ‘90s, when they both played in the socially conscious thrash metal band Artsonic. But like the limbs of a tree, the organization is supported across many different fields. They partner with local scientists, forest engineers, ecological parks and other non-profits on the ground in Costa Rica, as well as international organizations like Hellfest, who are donating 1 million Euro to Savage Lands over the next five years.
Whether they’re out planting trees or hunkered down in the studio, Savage Lands foster the spirit of collaboration. Any metal supporter will recognize Dirk’s swiveling left foot behind the drum kit. But alongside Sylvain’s shredding solos and melodic riffs, the core band is backed by Loco Muerte’s Florian Pons and Poun and Etienne Treton from veteran French metalcore band Black Bomb A.
“When Sylvain and Dirk introduced us to Savage Lands at Hellfest in 2023, we instantly saw the passion and necessity behind this endeavor and were absolutely thrilled by the opportunity”, says Chris Harms and Pi Stoffers of Lord of the Lost, who pour their blood and glitter into the chest-pounding “Out of Breath”. “Music can not only offer a refuge to every single person on this earth, but it can be used as a sanctuary for the existential nature around us”.
Army of the Trees is loaded with more metallic force. “The Last Howl” pays a fitting tribute to the endangered howler monkey. Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser swings through not one, but two acrobatic solos, and Obituary swamp king John Tardy unleashes his inner primate with some ferocious, spit-flinging growls. While a wicked downpicked stroke of black ‘n’ roll, “Black Rock Heart” aims at more spiritual concerns. Channeling protective powers from the Obsidian stone, visionary artist Chloé Trujillo and Heilung’s chief of ceremonies Kai Uwe Faust warn of a doomsday scenario that’s unfolding right before our eyes.
“Supporting what Savage Lands is doing was an easy decision”, says fellow Heilung warrior Maria Franz, whose soothing high notes grace the melancholic power ballad “No Remedy”. The Nordic collective donated $1 for every ticket sold during their most-recent U.S. tour to their Season of Mist labelmates. Army of the Trees hammers its message home with Francophone force. Eight pillars from the French metal scene join Savage Lands on the album’s roaring title track in the fight to protect the world’s ecosystems. “Now is the time to take a stand” they shout, bonded together in a fierce rallying cry. “Our goals are attainable”, say Dirk and Sylvain. “By converting the land that we purchase into nature sanctuaries, Savage Lands will help set a precedent for environmental activism. But we must work together and quickly. Ecosystems are still under attack. If we don’t, then there won’t be any wildlife left to save”.
Raise your horns and join the Army of the Trees in support of the metal non-profit.
Just listening to Army of the Trees helps support Savage Lands. 100% of the song’s royalties fund the musician-run non-profit’s preservation efforts.

Having seen first-hand how deforestation threatens Costa Rica’s rain forest, two angry metalheads are banging their heads together to protect the world’s ecosystem.
“After hearing the chainsaws on a daily basis, we knew it was time to act”, says musician-turned-activist Sylvain Demercastel, “because the buzzing is only getting louder”.
Sylvain founded Savage Lands with his long-time friend and Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren in 2022. Thanks to their music, the 501 (c) (3) non-profit has preserved 100,000 square feet of forest in high-risk areas along the Costa Rican coastline. 100% of the royalties from their first album, Army of the Trees, support their ongoing preservation projects in Costa Rica and other countries.
The roots behind Savage Lands run deep. Dirk and Sylvain first met in France during the late ‘90s, when they both played in the socially conscious thrash metal band Artsonic. But just like a tree, the organization is supported by different types of branches.
“As a non-profit, we depend on the support of other organizations, fellow artists and our listeners”, Dirk says.
In Costa Rica, Savage Lands partners with scientists, forest engineers, ecological parks, private businesses and other non-profits. Their Green Alliance (Alianza Verde) has led to more than 11,000 trees being planted in deforested areas throughout Costa Rica thanks to the help of 1,200 volunteers.
Collaboration also fuels the creative fires of Savage Lands. The core band includes Poun and Etienne Treton from the veteran French metalcore band Black Bomb A, along with Loco Muerte’s Florian Pons. When they planted their ecological flag on Hellfest’s main stage in 2024, movers and shakers from across the metal sphere showed up to support. Not only did the festival leader pledge to donate 1 million Euro to the organizations over the next five years. Daniel de Jongh (Textures), Silje Wergeland (The Gathering), Jesper Liveröd (Nasum), Alejandro Montoya (Cultura tres), Vincent Price (Body Count), Billy Graziadei (Biohazard), Shane Embury (Napalm Death) and Andreas Kisser (Sepultura) all joined for an appropriately bloody and scream-worthy rendition of “Roots”.
“I’m happy to be a part of such a truly important cause”, Embury said after the performance. “We are connected with every living thing on this planet and Savage Lands is helping to preserve nature’s treasures”.
Army of the Trees features even more metallic fire power. Out of the sludgy distortion that spews from “The Last Howl” crawls Obituary’s John Tardy, who pays a fitting tribute to the endangered Howler monkey by unleashing his inner primate with spit-flinging growls. “Black Rock Heart” carves out a wickedly blackened groove, though the song’s aggressive chug is fueled by more spiritual concerns. “We wanted the music to reflect our mounting frustration with the way the real estate heat wave is destroying Costa Rica’s ecosystem”, Sylvain says. “For so long, nature has been trying to warn us that we’re putting our future at risk”. Who else could represent the magical spirit of the forest but visionary artist Chloé Trujillo and Heilung’s chief of ceremonies Kai Uwe Faust.
Heilung are also working with Savage Lands outside of the recording studio. The world-famous Nordic collective donated $1 for every ticket sold during their most-recent U.S. tour to support their Season of Mist labelmates. “Supporting Savage Lands was an easy decision for us”, says Maria Franz, whose soothing high notes grace the melancholic power ballad “No Remedy”.
“That’s another beautiful thing about Savage Lands”, Sylvain says. “As a band, we’re not limited to just one genre. We can adapt to boost the strengths of whomever is joining us”.
Savage Lands’ debut album introduces several new species of metalhead to their ecosystem. Eurovision’s darlings Lord Of The Lost spill their blood and glitter over the spiky riffs that puncture “Out of Breath”. Holding court over lead single “Ruling Queen” with her serpentine cleans and lioness roar is none other than Arch Enemy’s Alissa White-Gluz. “Now is the time to take a stand”, the band roar in a fierce rallying cry during the album’s climactic title track, backed by Julien Truchan from Benighted and other pillars from the French metal community.
“Our goals are attainable,” Sylvain and Dirk say.

HORNDAL‘s third full-length, Head Hammer Man, has been nominated for the Grammis Hard Rock / Metal Album of 2025. The nomination from the Grammis, Sweden’s Grammys, follows Head Hammer Man‘s 2024 release that saw HORNDAL debut on their national music charts, Sverigetopplistan, at number one in the Hard Rock, Physical Releases and Vinyl categories. On HORNDAL‘s latest full-length the band share the previously untold real life story of Alrik Andersson, a 1900s union leader from their eponymous hometown and his role in The Great Strike.
Horndal, Sweden, 1909. The Great Strike rages across the entire country. Local union uprisings are crushed one by one. But a small group stands defiant – the ironworkers of Horndal. A group led by 27-year-old Alrik Andersson.
The steel company’s struggle against the striking workers had led to starvation, famine and mass evictions of families – and was on the brink of sparking a civil war. Workers from all over the country traveled in solidarity to Horndal to fight alongside the unionized, against the Swedish military, who had been sent there with bayonets drawn. To avoid starting a war, the Prime Minister eventually ordered the soldiers to lay down their weapons and the company executives to stop evicting the starving families.
Alrik fought tirelessly for his fellow workers’ jobs, and was successful – but this came at a price. The company executives ensured that Alrik was blacklisted throughout Sweden, so that he could not find employment anywhere in the country. He was forced into exile and fled across the Atlantic on an overloaded ship with his wife and two small children. He ended up in Chicago, where he found work at a steel mill and was given the title – Head Hammer Man. He worked there until his death in 1970, never mentioning his life in Sweden to anyone. No one in Sweden, or even in Horndal remembers him.
Head Hammer Man is a tribute to Alrik Andersson, a chance for his story to live on, over one hundred years after he took a stand for the people of Horndal. His tale is woven throughout the most ambitious, inspired and expansive compositions that Horndal have created to date. Not only inspired by this one remarkable man, the band have drawn influence from all corners of their record collections. From Pugh Rogefeldt to Autopsy, Wipers to Judas Priest, Hawkwind to Mercyful Fate, Don Cherry to Voivod. A riff borrowed from Sparks here, a solo borrowed from Jake E Lee there. Brass arrangements alongside layered harmony guitars. John Barry’s The Persuaders theme next to King Crimson and The Jesus Lizard. Black Sabbath and The Shadows, Slayer and Sonic Youth.
The album was recorded in various locations across Sweden, including at the legendary Atlantis Metronome studios – including Swedish icons ABBA, whose very own grand piano is featured on Head Hammer Man. The album was co-produced by Anton Sundell, mixed by Simon Söderberg at Mayfire Studio, and mastered by Magnus Lindberg and Redmount Studios. Horndal invited their good friends to add to the album’s sonic landscape; Martin Hederos (The Soundtrack of Our Lives etc) plays organs and Moogs, whilst Henrik Palm (In Solitude, Ghost, Viagra Boys) contributed two hair raising guitar solos. The Head Hammer Man himself even makes a cameo with excerpts from a speech included in the title track. History may have forgotten him but Horndal never will.
Head Hammer Man tracklist: 1. Head Hammer Man 2. Calling Labor 3. Exiled 4. Fuck the Scabs 5. Famine 6. Blacklisted 7. The Shining Specter 8. Evictions 9. Orange Legacy 10. Creature Cages
PERFECT PLAN are pleased to share their new single and accompanying lyric video “All Night”, taken from their upcoming studio album, “Heart Of A Lion”, set for release on February 28th, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl.
Lead singer Kent Hilli describes the new single and the story that inspired it: “All Night” is about the guy on the cover art of our album, a fictional story I made up with some personal experiences in the mix. He is a dreamer and a musician, he fails in life with everything he does, loses his job and then his love and girlfriend, gets dumped and gets depressed, fights his way back from being broke and then becomes a successful singer in a rock band.”
“His girlfriend then wants him back but the betrayal from her was too big, so he rejects her and moves on, meets someone new, but can’t forget her and, after a few years, they meet again during one night”, he adds. “His girlfriend hasn’t been able to move on either and realized that she really loved him… It took them “all night” but finally they find forgiveness and reconciliation with a happy ending”.
Talking about the album, he states: “The new album is once again showcasing that we have developed and matured as a band in terms of songwriting and production. The melodies, riffs and hooks that we have created on this album are overall the best we’ve done so far. I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished. Although our main influences like Survivor, Foreigner, Europe, Whitesnake are still shining through, there’s that unmistakable Perfect Plan sound that is the driving center of it all. And I think we have strengthened that sound and identity.
“With “Brace For Impact” we wanted to discover a new heavier and “in your face” sound but on this album we are back to the sound of the first 2 albums, with more keyboards and bigger sound taking you back to the 80’s with a modern touch and feel. On this album we once again teamed up with Mårten Eriksson, whom we worked with on “Time For A Miracle”, Hilli adds. “Mårten brought his extreme talent to the songs both co-producing with us and also did he mixing. Mårtens long experience as both songwriter and producer in the pop-industry brought so much to the table and the end result is simply fantastic. If you liked our previous albums, you are gonna love “Heart Of A Lion!”
Perfect Plan’s fourth studio album, “Heart Of A Lion” marks the culmination of the band’s musical production to date. Over the course of their first trilogy of albums, “All Rise”, “Time For A Miracle” and “Brace for Impact”, the Swedes have quickly established themselves as a new gold standard in not only the Scandinavian melodic rock genre, but the melodic rock genre as a whole.
Kent Hilli is a one of a kind singer that gained world reputation almost from the start. His class, range, tone and heartfelt expression caught the attention of his heroes Giant, who picked him to sing on their latest album Shifting Time, and saw Kent releasing 2 solo albums in 2021 (“The Rumble”) and 2023 (“Nothing Left To Lose”).
Completing the line up, Rolf Nordström, guitarist extraordinaire, Mats Byström, the music mastermind who plays bass and form a solid, rock hard base with drummer Fredrik Forsberg. The subtle textures, so important in AOR, come from Leif Ehlin’s keyboards.
“Heart Of A Lion” is a powerful statement from the band offering the absolute best songwriting and production ever: a strong offering, with roots very well planted in the 80’s AOR sound. Produced by the band in collaboration with Mårten Eriksson, the band was determined to top the musical results they reached until now and took a few months – from the end of 2024 – to come out with the right musical material.
Sometimes the stars align, and the result is absolutely stunning: a perfect balance of energy and unforgettable melodies is what you are going to find in “Heart Of A Lion”.
Perfect Plan come to offer the “perfect” (pun intended) combination: a superb singer, a well-oiled band of experienced players, and a great songwriting talent with a knack for unforgettable melodies and driving rhythms.
With “Heart Of A Lion”, Perfect Plan have crafted an outstanding piece of work which, while paying tribute to the obvious references to the sound of the classics (think Survivor, Foreigner, The Storm, Giant etc) and Scandinavian AOR, has a recognizable identity and personal feel.
“Heart Of A Lion” Tracklist:
1. Heart Of A Lion 2. We Are Heroes 3. All Night 4. Turn Up Your Radio 5. My Unsung Hero 6. Ready To Break 7. Too Tough 8. Lady Mysterious 9. One Touch 10. Danger On The Loose 11. At Your Stone
