The new record showcases the band’s evolution, blending heavy riffs with melodic hooks and emotional depth. Known for their dynamic sound and passionate delivery, blacktoothed continues to push boundaries with this latest release. Fans can expect a fresh mix of powerful anthems and introspective tracks, solidifying the band’s place as a standout force in the modern metal scene. Headway is now available on all major streaming platforms.
The band commented: “we really pushed our own boundaries with this album. It was an emotional rollercoaster for all of us, resulting in the most versed songs we have written to date.”
The Dark have dropped ‘Circles’, a dynamic fusion of metal and disco that explores duality through tension, acceptance, and big questions. Packed with disco beats, heavy riffs, and acid bass, the track pushes boundaries both sonically and visually, featuring gritty, distorted aesthetics. ‘Circles’ is a bold statement from a band redefining the limits of their sound.
The band comment: “The whole song is about duality. It’s the heat of the moment, and it’s the big picture. It’s the sexual tension, and it’s acceptance. It’s asking the big questions and then ignoring them. It’s metal and it’s disco. Even when it came to be time to make the visuals, I said let’s film it on the nicest camera I have and then run it through a cheap old TV and ruin it… that’s perfect.
“‘Circles’ was probably my favorite track on the EP to produce. I got to check all my favorite boxes. The disco influence, the call and response verses, the riffs in the chorus, acid bass everywhere, the freaking innuendos… and then a massive inhale at the end… absolute blast.”
New Jersey’s SUNROT has released their new EP, Passages, via Prosthetic Records. Alongside Passages‘ release the band has shared an accompanying music video for The First Wound, documenting SUNROT‘s live touring cycle throughout 2024 and in-studio footage. Passages features guest appearances from both Dylan Walker (Full of Hell) and Brandon Hill (Cloud Rat), and arrives ahead of tour dates in support of Faetooth – detailed below.
Speaking on Passages’ release, SUNROT comments: “Passages is an EP about self liberation. Coming face to face with the oppressing forces inside you and doing what you have to do to get free of them. This is some of the stuff we have battled with ourselves. It’s kind of a war diary chronicling the struggle to be human. It’s always been really important in our own lives to hear songs and read lyrics that mirrored the trauma and grief and shit we were struggling with and if nothing else, we hope getting it out there can help someone make that kind of connection with it.”
A year after releasing their album,The Unfailing Rope, New Jersey’s SUNROT made their first foray to Europe to play a string of UK dates and perform at the esteemed Roadburn festival in the Netherlands. To close out this latest chapter of the noise/sludge band’s story, they will release an EP titled Passages. Written and recorded at the same time as The Unfailing Rope, Passages is a collection of five tracks that are a fitting accompaniment to the album, featuring guest appearances from Dylan Walker (Full of Hell) and Brandon Hill (Cloud Rat).
Continuing themes explored on The Unfailing Rope, these songs deal with trauma, grief and darkness. Sunrot offer a glimmer of hope and optimism at the EPs close with a noise track overlaid with audio of experimental musician Sun Ra talking about the power of music. As the band turns to the task of writing new material, Passages serves as a farewell to this iteration of SUNROT whilst the future stretches out in front of them.

Thrash metal fans, pay attention. February 7, 2025 is the day. That is the day when “Gods And Creators”, the new album by the Swiss band KLAW, will be released. The brand new work, produced by V.O. Guitarist Pat on the music: “Carousel of Flames” was written just before the studio recordings and it is the only song that had never been played together within the band before. My basic idea was to write a catchy, simply structured track alongside the otherwise rather complex songs. A good melody in the chorus, a pumping straight forward verse riff, held together by a Swedish metal riff. The formula “less is sometimes more” worked and the song quickly developed into one of the most popular tracks within the band.
Singer Jonas on the lyrics: The soul of a child… So pure, so naive, so fragile…The song addresses the impressionability of children and the danger that arises from this.
Technically sophisticated, melodic, with groove, tempo, fat riffs and aggressive vocals – that’s what KLAW stands for with their new album “Gods And Creators”.
Guitarist Chasper says about the track: For me, “Press Start” was like creating a “melodic Slayer track.” My songwriting typically features switches between double-time and half-time, various key changes, and twin lead sections between the solos.
Singer Jonas comments on the lyrics:”Press Start” tells a story about a young boy left by his father… He grows up scared by the fact that his father never wanted to know him… In the end as an adult he becomes just like his father, leaving his sick wife and his child behind. It‘s about the question if children are meant to grow up becoming their parents and the fact, that children who are raised by a parent that has suffered from trauma have a much higher chance to also suffer from trauma often even directly because of this parent.
“Gods And Creators” tracklist: 1. Intro 2. Press Start 3. Gods And Creators 4. Carousel Of Flames 5. Swell 6. Pictures Of My Past 7. Senseless 8. Walk The Line 9. Fearbreeder 10. Curse Of The Blessed 11. Stay Sit Roll Fetch 12. Alcoholic
The band says about the new album: “Gods And Creators” is the result of many years of collaboration between the new line-up of KLAW. With the line-up changes on vocals and guitar, 11 songs have materialized in a forge of various influences from the five members… a new chapter in the history of KLAW: “Gods and Creators!”
Bay Area meets Alpenland – The Swiss KLAW have sharpened their claws and deliver a whole dozen timeless hymns on their second album, which were forged in the Little Creek Studio and which have what it takes to absolutely enrich the new generation of thrash metal albums.
KLAW is a metal machine from Switzerland that plays modern thrash at a high level. Technically sophisticated, melodic, with groove, tempo, fat riffs and aggressive vocals. The band consists of five experienced and first-class musicians who show the world a new dimension of thrash metal! Aggressive, complex and yet catchy, dark and profound and at the same time full of adrenaline – KLAW inspires with energetic live performances and gets the mosh pit boiling and everyone headbanging!
