Cleopatra Records is thrilled to announce an extraordinary new project celebrating the legacy of the Dead Boys with an all-star lineup and a groundbreaking approach to their unmistakable sound.
The original Dead Boys cut just two albums throughout their short, fiery lifetime, the aptly titled Young, Loud and Snotty and the equally uncompromising We Have Come For Your Children. Now founding guitarist Cheetah Chrome leads an all-star line up of past friends and fans into their third – still untitled, but you can expect something no less provocative than its predecessors.
Set for release in 2025, this startling new album features Cheetah on guitar and vocals, Clem Burke (Blondie) on drums, and Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols) on bass, along with guest performances from James Williamson (The Stooges) and Michael Monroe (Hanoi Rocks).
In addition, the production features never-before-heard demos and early recordings taken from producer Kirk Yano’s pioneering 8-track studio in Cleveland.
The Dead Boys were one of the first bands to record there, in 1977-78, and select tracks on the new album seamlessly blend Stiv’s distinctive voice with new elements, creating a sonic experience that feels both nostalgic and fresh. Cheetah Chrome’s vocals are artfully “dusted” with Stiv’s iconic presence, ensuring the new material retains the raw, visceral energy that defined the Dead Boys’ sound.
This innovative approach celebrates the band’s history while boldly reimagining their future. The album follows recent Dead Boys releases featuring collaborations with The 69 Eyes and Cherie Currie (The Runaways), further cementing the band’s relevance across generations.
What’s Next for the Dead Boys: New Music, Tours, and a Search for a Vocalist
Fans can expect new tour dates and music videos in Spring 2025 as the band prepares to return to the stage. To enhance their electrifying live performances, the Dead Boys are actively seeking a professional vocalist to join them for future shows. This is a rare chance for a dynamic and talented singer to contribute to the next chapter of punk rock history.
Stay tuned for additional announcements as the Dead Boys continue to honor their punk rock roots while embracing bold, innovative directions.
Finnish metal band Black .44 is back after nine years! The band is set to release the second studio album Bloodlines on February 7th 2025 via Inverse Records. Their debut album “No Blanks” hit the Official Finnish Album Charts on position #19 in 2015. The first single ‘Again’ taken from the forthcoming album is released today with a music video that’s available below.
“The song discusses the weaknesses and strengths of the mind from the individual’s point of view. Mental health swings in all directions, but in the end, the strength of the individual leads to victory and light. The band describes this through powerful lyrics and the music alternates between strong and dark themes, with beautiful melodies bringing light to the situation. The roller coaster of the mind is alternately dark and bright, and in the end, the mental strength and willingness to live will lift him back to his feet.”
While they’re busy sharpening their blades in the studio, KEEP OF KALESSIN are taking stock of their treasured discography. The Norwegian pioneers of epic extreme metal are reissuing several albums through their new label Season of Mist. And they’re starting with one of their most decorated crown jewels.
While forged from their ironclad brand of melodic black metal, Kolossus elevated Keep of Kalessin to a higher field of battle. Their colossal fourth album not only cracked the Top 20 of the Norwegian Albums Chart. It also crowned the band with their second Spellemannprisen nomination.
The reissue of Kolossus will be out February 14th, 2025 on Season of Mist. Pre-order & Pre-save: https://orcd.co/kokkolossus
Even Norwegian legends aren’t immune to metal’s epidemic lineup changes. With the departure of Frost and Atilla, even those who’ve followed the band through times of war might’ve feared that Keep of Kalessin had been mortally wounded ahead of their fourth album.
Of course, Keep of Kalessin rose to the occasion. Backed by a new wizard on bass, an Internet sensation behind the drum throne and their fearless axeman of a leader Arnt Obsidian, the band fortified their prominent position amongst the hallowed halls of Norwegian metal with Kolossus. Guitar solos slice like long swords; double bass pounds with all the relentless fury of a war drum, while the acoustic polish and symphonic flurries only extend the scope of their epic artillery.
“My name will spawn legends”, vocalist Thebon screams, going down in a blaze of glory during the album’s ascendant grand finale.
Even amongst their many treasures, Kolossus still shines as one of Keep of Kalessin’s crown jewels.
More praise for Keep of Kalessin:
“Keep of Kalessin’s two-decade journey has been one of constant evolution…What has remained constant, though, is the band’s sense of ambition and epic scale” – Metal Hammer
“By emphasizing songwriting that skewed towards the epic and often incorporated symphonic and progressive elements alongside huge, polished production values, they offered a sound that felt like it spanned just about every aspect of metal but managed to pull it together in a seamless manner – Metal Trenches
“Totally turned black metal on its head” – Metal Sucks
As one of the pioneers of Epic Extreme Metal, Norway’s Keep Of Kalessin have collected an impressive number of milestones.
Since forming in 1993, Keep of Kalessin have established a reputation for treasured releases. Their first two albums, Through Times of War (1997) and Agnen: A Journey Through the Dark (1999) paired the band’s sense for melody and virtuoso playing with the harshness traditionally expected from black metal.
After the band’s original lineup split up, founding member and guitarist Arnt Obsidian served as Satyricon’s live guitarist from 2002 until 2007. He played hundreds of shows with the Norwegian black metal legends, including headlining Wacken Open Air in 2004.
It was through this fortuitous partnership that Keep of Kalessin reunited. Obsidian was joined by Frost for the 2003 Reclaim EP, which also features Atilla Csihar from Mayhem. Like all good things, this lineup did come to an end, but the band was far from done.
In fact, Keep of Kalessin came back in a big way during the mid-2000s. Experimenting with piano, keyboards and synthesizers earned the band’s next two albums, Armada (2006) and Kolossus (2008), nominations in the metal category at the Norwegian Grammy Awards.
Then in 2010, Keep of Kalessin shocked the world by becoming the first metal band to compete for Norway’s entry in the Eurovision Song Contest. Their song “The Dragontower” finished third during the national final. That same year, the band released their fifth album Reptilian, which peaked at #2 on the Norwegian national charts.
After 30 years, Keep of Kalessin have built themselves into an enduring live force. They’ve toured with Satyricon, Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, Exodus and many other acclaimed acts. After five years of extensive touring, the band put out another impressive album in 2015’s Epistemology.
While Keep of Kalessin soon faced the challenge of replacing their longtime drummer Vyl Larsen, the Internet helped them find an excellent replacement. Wanja Gröger is a long-time fan of the band whose amazing drumming skills are recognized all across the globe thanks to his popular YouTube channel. After an initial tour in 2019, Gröger became a full-time member of the band ahead of their latest album.
Metalheads may have written Keep of Kalessin off after receiving no album from them in eight years, but 2023’s Katharsis was named Album of the Month in Norway’s prestigious Scream Magazine. The band premiered the whole album during a titanic mainstage performance on board 70,000 Tons of Metal.
This year, Keep of Kalessin signed with Season of Mist, who will release the band’s next album in 2025, along with reissues from their back catalogue.
JINJER reigns as one of the most exciting and promising acts in the current scene! After releasing their chart-topping studio album, Wallflowers, in 2021, which was hailed as “… one of the finest – and most important – metal releases of 2021” by KERRANG! (UK) as well as “a progressive masterpiece” by New Noise Magazine (US), the four-piece entered stages at Europe’s biggest festivals, such as Wacken, Download and Rock am Ring, just to name a few. With the announcement of their upcoming record Duél, to be released on February 7, 2025 via Napalm Records, JINJER justifies their reputation and delivers an eleven-track offering loaded with technical grooves, heavy progressive passages and brutal vocals destined to drop jaws.
Out today, JINJER’s new single, “Green Serpent”, is prime preparation for the band’s new full-length. The song begins with thick grooves and calm, clear vocals by matchless vocalist Tatiana Shmayluk, before transforming into a furious steamroller shortly after. Once more, JINJER nails their balance of various influences, defying all rules and setting their own path. “Green Serpent” has premiered alongside a blistering official music video and is now available on all streaming services worldwide.
While JINJER’s previous album, Wallflowers, was slightly more alluring and contained noticeably more clean vocals, Duél now takes on a much more aggressive tone. This is proven by songs like “Rogue”, “Green Serpent” and “Dark Bile”, with their brutal and hefty breakdowns. Fans of super-talented vocalist Tatiana Shmayluk’s clear vocals also get their moments, as tracks such as the opener “Tantrum” show the potential of the frontwoman’s outstanding vocal prowess. Duél presents itself way more cruelly – and JINJER are more vicious than ever before. “Fast Draw” is a wild death metal beast with grooving drums from Vlad Ulasevich, Roman Ibramkhalilov’s one-of-a-kind riffs and Eugene Abdukhanov’s trademark bass wizardry – showing what this band does best: brilliant state-of the-art modern metal.
On Duél, JINJER continues their long-lasting collaboration with accomplished producer Max Morton, who co-produced, mixed and mastered the album. This new masterwork lives up to JINJER’s reputation as metal visionaries, once more showing that the band refuses to follow any set rules in their genre, but choose their own path of creativity.
Eugene Abdukhanov, JINJER bassist on the new album: “First of all, it‘s hard to believe that we’re about to release our fifth full length album! After all the releases we’ve made, finally having Duél in our hands and ready to be shared with the world, makes us very proud that our band still hasn’t run out of creativity and inspiration. The fact that we still challenge ourselves to release the best music we have ever made with each new release, is what keeps JINJER moving forward. This upcoming album was the longest songwriting process we’ve ever had and it took almost two years to complete. We worked very hard with every free minute we weren’t on tour, recording demos over and over again and always searching for the perfect sound for guitars, bass and drums. It was also the first time that Tatiana did vocal pre-productions, so it’s safe to say that none of our releases were so well thought out and calculated as this one. It pulverizes the boundaries of the modern progressive metal genre but still remains sophisticated, exciting and extreme all at the same time. We took up the challenge to expand our musical horizons even wider than before in order to cement Duél to be the next step in JINJER‘s musical growth and hopefully the evolution of metal music in general.”
DUÉL tracklisting: 1. Tantrum 2. Hedonist 3. Rogue 4. Tumbleweed 5. Green Serpent 6. Kafka 7. Dark Bile 8. Fast Draw 9. Someone’s Daughter 10. A Tongue So Sly 11. Duél
