In a recent interview with Ultimate Guitar magazine, veteran drummer CARMINE APPICE kicked up a dust storm when he lamented the fact that a certain stadium metal group had been relying on pre-recorded tracks in their live show. In retaliation, the bassist for said metal group referred to Appice as a “washed up drummer.” But as a member of numerous pioneering classic rock bands like Vanilla Fudge and Cactus, often dubbed “the American Led Zeppelin,” as well as longtime collaborator with Rod Stewart, Jeff Beck and a host of others, Appice has had more than his fair share of stage experience and knows the kind of chops it takes to command a stage show.
Even now, after 5 decades in the music business, Appice continues to release new albums and break new ground. His most recent project, a pairing with superstar guitarist and producer extraordinaire Fernando Perdomo, is about to unleash a brand new studio album titled Running Up That Hill. Set for release on May 26, the album consists of fiery rock instrumentals, featuring special guest performances by Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big, David Lee Roth), Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater), Jimmy Haslip (Yellowjackets), Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (Guns N’ Roses), Tony Franklin (The Firm), Phil Soussan (Ozzy Osbourne, Vince Neil) and more!

‘Stay Away From Me’ is the new single from UK’s Modern hard rockers ONE LAST DAY, released April 1st. The single is shorter and punchier than the previous single, while still maintaining the huge choruses and vocal hooks the band has become known for.
Alex on ‘Stay Away From Me’: “Stay Away From Me is a 3 minute hard rock banger mixed and mastered by Meyrick at Floodgate Audio, who has done an amazing job at making us sound huge as usual. The lyrics are about distancing yourself from toxic relationships, which can bring out the worst of you as an individual, so keeping away is beneficial to keeping your own sanity. With a catchy chorus and chunky riffs, we think this track will be stuck in your heads.”
Gareth adds: “The music was written for this track with the intention of keeping it simple and upbeat, and most importantly suitable for radio play, coming in at just over 3 minutes in length. This is the 2nd track which our new drummer Andy performs on, and the first which he has had a hand in writing with us.”
About the Artwork: “The artwork doesn’t really have any connection to the track, it’s just something we think looks cool. You can also find the image from the artwork on our new range of t-shirts and hoodies.”
Track credits: Vocals – Alex Willox Rhythm guitar and bass – Gareth Stapleton Lead guitar – John Harmsworth Drums – Andy Scott

“The Propaganda Machine”, the brand new studio album by Demonic Resurrection frontman DEMONSTEALER, is released today on Swedish label Black Lion Records. Accompanied by an elite ensemble of some of the best musicians in metal (Kataklysm, ex -Cradle of Filth, Ne Obliviscaris + many more), “The Propaganda Machine” is relentless in its brutality while still remaining melodic. To celebrate the release in glorious style, Demonstealer has unleashed a brand new playthrough video for “The Art Of Disinformation”. The song features Sebastian Lanser, Kilian Duarte, Anabelle and Alex Baillie and you can watch the video below.
Demonstealer comments:
“On this track I got to work with Sebastian Lanser (Obsidian/ex-Obscura) who is an absolute machine and Kilian Duarte (Scale The Summit/Abiotic) on bass. The song is just a chunky riff monster and these guys create just the most sturdy backbone to the track with the precise playing. While Alex Baillie (Cognizance) added some epic rocky lead guitar that just brings it all together. Lyrically we’re just holding up a mirror to the world as it is today.“

Finnish five-piece LAMORI keeps stirring things up in the goth rock camp, as they have for over a decade now. Fusing their nordic goth rock roots with modern metal, electronics, dark wave, and everything in between, they create their own neon-lit flavor of the genre.
THE EYE OF THE STORM is the band’s latest track from their upcoming album NEON BLOOD FIRE. The song is all about deceptiveness, that nothing really is as it seems. It begins with the cover art, a masterful artwork titled “False Dawn” by Julian Faylona of ElementJ21 Design. The lyrics have a very apocalyptic atmosphere, telling of desperate souls filled with disillusionment and frustration, and their descent into the darkness to pursue radical change. We are in the midst of the minds that are caught up in the momentum, who have lost all critical reflection and are blindly following ideologies without question.
LAMORI is hailing from the Aland Islands of Finland. Formed in 2009, the lineup has remained unchanged. However, their sound continues to evolve with each release.
NEON BLOOD FIRE, the band’s fourth album to be released by Wormholedeath, will refine the soundscapes heard on the 2020 released NEO NOIR, but also introduce completely new elements to the mix. This album will have some of the heaviest LAMORI songs ever heard!

British / Irish death metal group DEATHCOLLECTOR have announced their signing to Prosthetic Records. Alongside the news of their signing, the band (featuring members of Bolt Thrower, Memoriam, Ashen Crown, Zealot Cult and more) will be releasing their debut album, Death’s Toll, on June 23rd. The lead single, A Taste of Ichor, and accompanying lyric video is available to stream on all platforms and watch now.
Speaking on the album announcement, DEATHCOLLECTOR comments: “DEATHCOLLECTOR came into being towards the end of the pandemic, as a way for friends to keep working on music. But thanks to support from the underground, plus the amazing backing/support from Prosthetic Records, Death’s Toll hits the streets this coming June.
“The album is a mixture of all things we’ve loved in music over the years. Everyone involved has put their heart and soul into this release, and we are eager to see where this opportunity will take us… For now we’ll leave you with the first single, A Taste of Ichor. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed recording it!”
Formed in 2021 as little more than a way to pass the time playing cover songs until life creaked back to normality, DEATHCOLLECTOR’s debut EP, Time’s Up, elicited considerable interest in the UK underground and caught the ear of Prosthetic Records. With their roots firmly planted in the scene that has supported them from the word go, DEATHCOLLECTOR are ready to branch out and show the rest of the globe exactly what they’re made of.
With a Bolt Thrower member in their ranks it would be all too easy to lean on the past and rely on name recognition and re-hashing a tried and true formula, but DEATHCOLLECTOR yearns for something more. Aiming to capture the fervent brutality of their live performance on record despite the physical distance between them, Andy Whale (Bolt Thrower/Darkened) decamped to Fordhouse studios to record the drums. Over in Ireland, Mick Carey (Zealot Cult) laid down his guitar parts with engineer Ciaran Culhane, whilst vocals and bass were recorded in home studios in the UK. The record was mixed and mastered by Gord Olson with the intention of creating something that was true to their principles: raw and unbridled.
The result is Death’s Toll; nine tracks of death metal that confidently bridges the old school with a more modern sound without losing any of its organic rawness. The hardcore and punk that influenced the original roots of death metal in the UK scene are flowing through the veins of the band, rounding out a sound that is as gritty as it is authentic.
Lyrically the album traverses the darkest contemplations on mortality; willful self destruction, addiction, and the mental and physical toll that life takes on us until death. DEATHCOLLECTOR sweep up the rot, filth, shame and weakness of humanity and funnel it into their scathing death metal offerings.
Death’s Toll tracklist: 1. Death’s Toll 2. Mental Hedonist 3. DeathCollector 4. Coarse Visions 5. Terrorizer 6. A Taste of Ichor 7. Internal Expansion 8. Revel In The Gore 9. Rearview Guilt
DEATHCOLLECTOR is: Andrew Whale – Drums Mick Carey – Lead/Rhythm Guitar Lee Cummings – Bass Kieran Scott – Vocals
Italy’s NWOTHM band TARCHON FIST have unveiled the second single taken from their upcoming fifth studio album, “The Flame Still Burns”, which will be released via Underground Symphony on April 28th 2023.
The video for the title track deals with the core value of the band – the music described here as a motivating force to keep going despite the countless difficulties imposed by life.
TARCHON FIST explain: “The pandemic changed everything and that is a matter of fact. Despite the many restrictions which forced us to work remotely during repeated and sudden lockdowns, we never stopped pursuing our projects which have always been driven by the great passion for what we do. Therefore, we have chosen the passion in all its forms as the main theme of this album. ‘The Flame Still Burns’ is not only the title track of our new album, but it’s also a message which reflects ourselves more than ever. The love for music has been burning inside us since we were child and from this passion comes the energy which daily continues to motivate us”.
“The Flame Still Burns” was recorded and produced by TARCHON FIST at Roberto Priori’s PriStudio and Luciano Tattin’s Studio Tarconte.
The artwork was created by Mr. Stan W. D., who has already worked on the previous album “Apocalypse”.
The band comments: “The genesis and development of this album are the result of what we did during the lockdown which the pandemic forced us between 2020 and 2021. The common thread throughout record is passion, a concept we tried to decline on every song.“
“The Flame Still Burns” will be available as CD Digipak and Digital.
