Peaceville is proud to reveal the signing of RUÏM for a forthcoming masterclass in unnerving and eerie black metal brutality, set for release in 2023.
RUÏM was formed by the iconic former Mayhem guitarist, Blasphemer (Rune Eriksen), in early 2020, driven by a firm desire to revisit the style of music he has dedicated himself to and been associated with since the mid 90´s. Inspired by the rediscovery of a long lost tape of old, unused Mayhem-era riffs (post Wolf’s Lair Abyss) the concept of starting a new project based around these ideas manifested itself quickly, and a new vision was born for an album deeply immersed in Brazilian witchcraft and the left hand path of the Umbanda tradition, a practice in which Blasphemer himself is taught in.
Accompanying Blasphemer on the journey is up and coming drummer César Vesvre (aka CSR), a French musician involved with bands such as Agressor and Thagirion, among others.
Blasphemer comments: “Forged over 2 years of lockdown and global panic, the result is a vicious and pitch black take on the genre I started my career in back in the mid 90’s. With hints to some of my past works as well as a leap into the unexplored, this conceptual offering is not only a personal journey, but also a celebration and a dedication to the linha da esquerda… and everything therein.
Details on the debut album to be released on Peaceville Records will be revealed shortly. Stay tuned!
Transport yourself to a world of magic and adventure with the beautiful melodies and medieval moods of the official soundtrack of “Tales of Shadowland”, conceived by the brilliant and creative mind of BRUNO MAIA.
Known mainly for his work with Brazilian Folk Metal band TUATHA DE DANANN, founded in 1994, Bruno Maia embarked on a new project, which has everything to do with the Celtic and Medieval music, main inspirations of him.
The creative musician was invited by Uzmi Games to compose the score for a revolutionary project, the MMORPG “Tales of Shadowland”, probably the biggest and most ambitious of its kind developed in Brazil.
Composed of 8 songs, the soundtrack was recorded and produced by Bruno Maia, at Braia Studios in Varginha/MG. A multi-instrumentalist, Bruno played keyboards, guitar, viola, bouzouki, double bass, several flutes, banjo, bodhran in addition to singing.
The songs also featured guest appearances by Leandro Caçoilo (Viper, Caravellus) on “Dreyah’, Mannu Saggioro (Soulspell) on “Gohrar'” and “The Calm before the Battle”, and Julie Gonçalves on “The Calm before the Battle”.
In the songs, we hear diverse influences that permeate the musician’s career and fit perfectly into the concept of the game, ranging from Clannad, Steeleye Span and Planxty, through Jethro Tull, Blind Guardian and Blackmore’s Night to Wardruna, Faun and Omnia.
The track ‘Great Battles’ had lyrics written by one of the creators of the game, André Ferreira, in honor of one of his partners in the game who died a victim of COVID-19, a fact that ended up delaying the crowdfunding campaign and consequently the launch of the project.
The soundtrack of “Tales of Shadowland” is available on the digital platforms, and It can be checked and purchased at Band Camp at THIS LOCATION.
The music contained in the soundtrack has everything to please fans of the musician and his main band, as well as supporters of the Celtic and medieval sounds of groups such as Blackmore’s Night and Blind Guardian.
This partnership between the musician and the game’s developers will certainly bring results for both in the future, as it will arouse the curiosity of admirers of Bruno’s work in the game, as well as MMORPG players will get to know the music of one of the main composers of Brazilian Metal/Folk Metal.
About the game, “Tales of Shadowland” is a Brazilian MMORPG developed by Uzmi Games, a studio founded by director André Ferreira and youtuber Douglas Mesquita. The acronym MMORPG stands for “Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game”. Promising to bring back the golden age of MMORPGs, the game is inspired by the classics of the genre, but with modern graphics, #ToSMMO is an open world medieval adventure. The release date has not yet been announced.
For now, follow information on Uzmi’s official platforms and channels and travel to the worlds of Shadowland through the mystical and magical track composed by Bruno Maia.
“For the Beaten” is the latest single from platinum-selling alternative-industrial rock band FILTER and is available digitally via Golden Robot Records now.
This release is nothing short of classic Filter and exactly what hardcore fans of the band have been anticipating for over 2 years. “For the Beaten” showcases Filter founder Richard Patrick’s signature tenor screams coupled with the band’s unique chugging guitar riffs.
The track gives insight into the material Filter has been working on during the pandemic, and what is expected to come with the release of a new album in 2023.
“For the Beaten” features longtime Patrick collaborators Johnny Radtke on guitar and Elias Mallin on drums, as well as newcomer Zack Munowitz, who co-wrote the song and plays guitar. The song was co-produced by Brian Virtue and was mastered by Grammy Award-winner Howie Weinberg.
In addition to releasing the song digitally, Filter have released an official lyric video for “For the Beaten” with entrancing graphics to compliment the song.
The release of “For the Beaten” comes a few weeks after Patrick was invited to join Nine Inch Nails for a special fan day Q&A at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The following night TrentReznor had Patrick and other former and current NIN band members join him for a special performance at the Blossom Center in Cleveland, OH, where the band was originally formed. The expanded NIN performed such staples as “Eraser,” “Wish,” “Sin,” “Gave Up,” “Head Like a Hole,” and a cover of Filter’s 1994 monster hit, “Hey Man Nice Shot.”
The once-in-a-lifetime event saw a wide range of media coverage and fan buzz, particularly around what Richard Patrick has been up to – well, here is your answer.
Choosing the first single to release and represent a new album cycle is a tough decision but ultimately “For the Beaten” was how the band wanted to introduce this era to the fans with Patrick explaining “We chose ‘For the Beaten’ as the first single because it’s dynamic, dark, and heavy, just like the moment we are in. I look forward to working with Golden Robot and can’t wait for everyone to hear the full album.”
This release is the first for Filter under the Golden Robot umbrella with CEO and President Mark Alexander-Erber expressing his excitement at what Filter has created, commenting “‘For The Beaten’ is exactly why we wanted to worth with Richard Patrick; classic Filter from the first beat to the last note. He give it everything and we are super proud to be involved.”
“For The Beaten” is available worldwide digitally now via Golden Robot Records with an official lyric video live on YouTube.
ABOUT FILTER
Patrick’s career is a vision of multifaceted creativity, which he has delivered throughout his 30+ years producing music professionally through his band Filter, various collaborations, side projects, super groups, scoring films and writing for soundtracks.
Patrick’s initial foray into the public eye was as Nine Inch Nails’ first touring guitarist. Patrick had met NIN’s founder Reznor in the late ‘80s in a music store in Cleveland. The two became close friends and then bandmates. Patrick played with the band from 1989-1993, appearing in numerous music videos including “Down in It,” “Head Like a Hole,” “Wish” and “Gave Up.”
Filter’s debut album Short Buswas released in 1995 and went platinum, largely due to the success of their first single “Hey Man Nice Shot.” The follow up, 1999’s Title of Record, also went platinum driven by the huge crossover success of the song “Take a Picture.” Filter’s third album, The Amalgamut, is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year. The album spawned such classic songs as “Where Do We Go from Here” and “American Cliché.”
In 2006, the Army of Anyone project – a supergroup led by Patrick with Dean and Robert DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots and Ray Luzier of Korn – came to light, releasing one album and a tour before each went back to their respective bands. Patrick refocused on Filter, releasing Anthems for the Damnedin 2008, The Trouble with Angels in 2010, The Sun Comes Out Tonight in 2013 and Crazy Eyes in 2016, and two singles in 2020.
Patrick is in the middle of recording a much-anticipated new Filter album (set to release in 2023 on Golden Robot Records). He also continues to score films, produce, write, record, and collaborate with other musicians in all musical genres.
In cooperation with Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e. V., German hard rock titans BONFIRE finance the “Farba Project” with donations in order to help traumatized children and young people from Ukraine. Today, the band re-issued the song “Freedom Is My Belief“ (originally released on their 1989-album Point Blank), now re-recorded with the current line-up.
“Ever since Russia’s terrible war of aggression in Ukraine started, I’ve been thinking again and again – how can we, Bonfire, help,” BONFIRE guitarist and founding member Hans Ziller comments. “In fact, it can only be the innocent children who need our help. I have been in contact with the Johanniter, who take care of children traumatized by war, for a long time. While recording our song Freedom Is My belief, I had the idea of having these children sing along in the chorus. I think, every day that distracts you from this war can help in some way. We just wanted to give these kids 2 nice days.”
What does it take to live under clear blue skies Freedom is my belief For you I die
“I did a casting at the refugee camp with the kids. Partly they are half- or full orphans. Many are accompanied by their mothers or grandparents. There are almost no men here.” Ziller continues. “I heard terrible stories via the interpreters. And every day Ukraine keeps being under massive attacks of hundreds of rockets and bombs. But everyone is so grateful that we are helping the people of Ukraine. Many have lost loved ones. But it has to go further, and most important is, that peace finally prevails, so they can return to their homeland.
The enthusiasm was huge that the kids could participate in our video. I chose 20 children who sang along in our studio. We picked them up at the facilities with Harley biker gang, the Wolfmen, who brought them to our studio. Over here, we recorded the chorus of Freedom together with the kids.”
All proceeds from the single and video will go entirely to the children. Says Ziller: “They will be handed over by me personally. So please download the song, and share and stream the video as often as possible! The kids will thank you.”

Nothing has changed yet everything is different when it comes to Phantom Knocks, the third studio album by Berlin-based heavy psych doom duo GRIN, consisting of unshakeable power couple Jan and Sabine Oberg (Earth Ship, Slowshine). Today, on October 14th, the band is celebrating the release of their new collection of eight shamanic yet heavy-as-hell desert rituals that emanate from the mysterious space between the supernatural and the extraterrestrial. GRIN are streaming Phantom Knocks in its entirety!
The manic tribal beat of album opener “Transcendence”, comes rolling in like a psychic thunderstorm, extrapolating the collision of millions of tiny aqueous ions to the mighty thunder of Sabine Oberg’s bass, which continues to send seismic shockwaves throughout the rest of the album to leave you shaking on your feet. Meanwhile Jan Oberg’s clean voice and spectral grunts create a haze through which high pitched droning guitars fade in and out, like tones of supernatural frequencies cutting through the haze of reality. Phantom Knocks takes you on a rocking ride across shifting extraterrestrial desertscapes, while your spirit flies high above in a mystic transportation through the astral plane.
GRIN have teamed up with Invisible Oranges, for an exclusive pre-album listening premiere. Stream Phantom KnocksHERE!
The groundwork of GRIN’s trademark heavy drum and bass sound was already laid as early as their 2018 debut album Revenant, which is no surprise, since Jan and Sabine have been actively making heavy riff-laden tunes for over ten years. Translucent Blades in 2020 further solidified GRIN’s brand of sludgy psychedelic doom metal with the addition of high pitched guitar drones and eerie soundscapes. Again recorded in Jan Oberg’s own Hidden Planet Studio, Phantom Knocks has the same earth-shattering qualities as its predecessors, but is in every way more vivid and more powerful, aptly demonstrating how the Berliners have perfected their chemistry.
Phantom Knocks is available as CD, Tape Cassette and Digital formats on October 14, 2022, with a Vinyl release to follow soon. The album will be issued by the band’s own label imprint The Lasting Dose Records, you can purchase your copy at THIS LOCATION!
