Germany’s most successful rock singer DORO PESCH has just been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award – Germany’s most important music accolade.
The Pop Culture Prize was awarded in Berlin’s “Admiralspalast” on October 4th in front of musicians, a specialist audience, and media representatives.
The joy was palpable, and Doro accepted the award to thunderous applause from the euphoric music industry present. The emotional laudatory speech was given by Alex Wesselsky from the band EISBRECHER.
“What an honour,” says Doro Pesch. “This award totally motivates me to always go full throttle and give everything! From the bottom of my heart, I thank everyone who has supported me.”
The “Prize for Pop Culture” is the continuation of the prestigious German “Echo” music prize.
In the past, metal acts have been rarely seen at this event and it’s a great honour for Doro, who will be celebrating 40 years of her career in 2023.

November 4, 2022 will see Brussels-based rock act BLACK MIRRORS return with their new masterpiece and sophomore studio album, entitled Tomorrow Will Be Without Us, releasing via Napalm Records.
Are we killing our own planet? No, BLACK MIRRORS doesn’t believe that we as humans have the power to destroy mother earth. However, as the album cover below portrays, it’s clear who will end up burning – all living creatures, us. Tomorrow Will Be Without Us is a clear statement impacting every single one of us living on our planet.
As the album’s first single, “Hateful Hate, I’ll Kill You”, has already showcased, Tomorrow Will Be Without Us pushes the band’s fuzz pedals to the max, delivering powerful rock anthems you can’t help but move and groove to, yet perfectly proving BLACK MIRRORS’ unforced, versatile and organic talent. Today, the band fronted by extraordinary vocalist Marcella Di Troia releases a brand new single – the crisp, grunge-esque juggernaut “Lost In Desert”!
BLACK MIRRORSsays about the new single: “For this song, Pierre found the inspiration in the Tabernas desert in Spain. Years ago, we shot the video of Moonstone there and the hugeness of the area inspired the mood of Lost in Desert.
This song is about going somewhere else when you don’t feel you belong where you are anymore. It’s about going to a place where it’s vast. A place where you are going back to your roots, what you truly are. It’s about finding an asylum where there’s nothing but an open space to think, a place for introspection and to find yourself again.“
“The faceless people idea is inspiredbyPeople are strange by The Doors.“ Says the band about the new video. “When you’re down, everyone appears wicked and scary and you just want to avoid them. You want to find a place to hide, an asylum per se.“
Marcella comments about the buzzard: “I always felt close to buzzards, I always find solace when I hear them and see them in the sky. They bring me hope and light in bad times, and help me take some distance with my issues. That’s why I wanted to have one in our video.”
In 2017, BLACK MIRRORS took the world by storm with the debut of their awe-inspiring Funky Queen EP. Feverishly acclaimed live appearances and a powerful festival showcase later, the band quickly inked a worldwide deal with leading rock and metal empire Napalm Records, soon gaining further praise with the release of their first full-length album, Look Into The Black Mirror. Continuing to exceed expectations, the unstoppable BLACK MIRRORS have now crafted one of rock’s leading highlights of 2022 – their upcoming release, Tomorrow Will Be Without Us!
BLACK MIRRORS’ second outing is a deep, soulful and vividly textured 90’s inspired rock record with umpteen layers begging to be picked apart with each spin, and lyrically, traverses humankind’s increasing apathy towards the world around them. The grunge-infused guitar lines meld in harmony, giving way to memorable riffs, rhythmic gems, big grooves and the addictive, beautifully unchained vocals of Di Troia. The album fluxes from fierce and blustery to often gentle and calming, channeling the flavor of MTV’s glory era showcasing acts such as Nirvana, Radiohead, Hole, Alain Johannes, Alice In Chains and beyond.
Contrary to the album’s title and its evocative themes about today’s society and a world falling apart, tomorrow does belong to BLACK MIRRORS – there is no doubt they will own the next decade, providing us with the finest in heavy rock and melodic grunge grandeur the world of tomorrow unconditionally needs.
“Like all of us, we had to go through a lot during these past years. Tomorrow Will Be Without Us is our answer to all the questions we had during that time, our reflection on the ecological catastrophe we’re all witnessing, our thoughts on our consumerist society, …“ the band recently explained. “Writing these songs gave us the strength to go forward and to heal us, it was our catharsis. We deeply hope it will bring you some light in these dark times.”
Together with the touch of worldwide-acclaimed producer Alain Johannes (Eagles Of Death Metal, Queens Of The Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, No Doubt,…), BLACK MIRRORS have reset the bar to unexpected heights, and their new album promises to leave its mark on today’s rock scene worldwide! One can be sure, the music world of tomorrow would be a lonely place without BLACK MIRRORS, and Tomorrow Will Be Without Us locks them at the top!

US power metal group JUDICATOR are today premiering their new single, Ursa Major, via Decibel. Ursa Major is the second track to be taken from the four-piece band’s forthcoming sixth studio album, The Majesty of Decay, set to be released via Prosthetic Records on November 25. The song shows JUDICATOR embracing their love of traditional power metal, with a refreshed and revitalised approach to their songwriting.
Speaking on the premiere, John Yelland (vocals) comments: “While our last single, The High Priestess, marks a step away from the classic Judicator sound, Ursa Major shows that we’re still in touch with our roots.
“I actually wrote the music for this song many years ago. I was working at a job I hated, but every morning before work I sat in the car for 20-30 minutes and wrote music. These songwriting sessions were the only good part of my day. Even now I still associate Ursa Major with the morning time and caramel lattes.
“Whether you love your job or hate your job, we hope Ursa Major brings some sunshine to your commute this morning!”
As with past releases, The Majesty of Decay is a concept album. But while most JUDICATOR albums have been based on history, this one takes an entirely different direction. The album’s story connects with At the Expense of Humanity, the band’s third album, which recounts singer John Yelland’s experiences watching his older brother die after a long, drawn out battle with cancer.
Whilst the album’s story remains somewhat shrouded in mystery, JUDICATOR utilizes compelling plot devices as a means to encourage fans to piece together the album’s meta-contextual threads. What we do know, however, is that The Majesty of Decay explores the subjects of love, family, and the transformation of suffering into something meaningful. JUDICATOR invites you to step into this world and contemplate how the story might relate to you. The album is a carefully constructed puzzle of mirrors and metaphor that cries out for JUDICATOR fans everywhere to solve it.
What began as a humble homage to their mutual love of Blind Guardian, JUDICATOR have quickly grown into something that has continually had fans begging for more, with JUDICATOR more happy to oblige. With this latest offering, JUDICATOR have delivered yet another thought provoking album that fits nicely into their discography.
With members spread across the United States, recording for The Majesty of Decay was certainly unique. Drums were engineered and recorded by Alex Bosson (Helion Prime, Lunar, Planeswalker). Brass was engineered and recorded by Michael Sasich at Man vs. Music. The album was edited by Will Salazar at Revenant Sound Studios. Reamping and mixing was completed by Carlos Alvarez at Dirty Viking Audio Production. Mastering and sequencing was completed by Brett Caldas-Lima at Tower Studio. In addition, the album features Angel Chatzitheodorou (Angel Wolf-Black, ex-Bare Infinity), whose elegant, powerful voice soars through much of the song Judgment. The beautiful, eerie artwork by Marc Whisnant completes the package.
The ten tracks that comprise The Majesty of Decay are haunting, progressive, and command attention through their adventurous, emotionally cathartic storytelling and pervasive, dynamic atmosphere.
The Majesty of Decay tracklist:
1. Euphoric Parasitism 2. The Majesty of Decay 3. From the Belly of the Whale 4. Daughter of Swords 5. Ursa Minor 6. Ursa Major 7. The High Priestess 8. The Black Elk 9. Judgment 10. Metamorphosis
Finnish Grunge band SCARLET returned from a 10 year hiatus in 2015. Now they release the third and the last one of their singles before debut album launch on 11/11/22. “Circle of Bones” is really personal song to the band members and it tells a story about toxic relationship. Because of this personal aspect the band captured something magical in the studio. The heightened emotions and the energy of the band is something that you don’t hear or feel anymore these days.
The single comes with a music video. It was captured in the band’s home town of Suonenjoki during the last summer day of 2022. The full length album titled “Circle of Bones” pops out 11.11.2022 in all relevant formats (Mc/Lp/Cd/Stream) via Inverse Records.
Brazilian Progressive Metallers ARMORED DAWN have blazed back onto the scene with their single and music video, “S.O.S.”. Written by Carolina Angeli and the group’s former drummer, Rodrigo Oliveira*, “S.O.S.” portrays the feelings of a person suffering with depression, who isolation with their pain, believing that no one will ever understand their feelings or what is happening to her.
Mixed by Chris Lord Alge (Muse, Green Day, Nickelback) and mastered by Ted Jensen (Bring Me The Horizon, Evanescence, Metallica), “S.O.S.: shows a great evolution in the band’s sound. The composition, while bringing the characteristic identity that marked the sound of ARMORED DAWN, expands horizons and will surprise those who have somehow missed the band’s work.
The music video for “S.O.S.” was directed by Kahue Rozzi, from SimonSays Filmes. The video shows the meeting of different facets and personalities and the inner child of this lonely and depressive character, who is both the heroine and the villain of her own story.
The current lineup of Armored Dawn, which includes Eduardo Parras (vocals), Tiago de Moura and Timo Kaarkoski (guitars), Heros Trench (bass), Rafael Agostino (keyboards) and Chris Oliveira (drums), continues to work on future releases.
The band’s upcoming album, Brand New Way, was produced and recorded at the renowned Dharma Studios, in São Paulo, by Rodrigo Oliveira and Heros Trench, mixed by Chris Lord-Alge and mastered by Ted Jensen, two top names in North American music production. Acclaimed since the 1980s, having won 5 Grammys, Chris Lord-Alge has worked with some of the world’s greatest music legends such as James Brown, Prince, Joe Cocker, and Tina Turner, as well as legendary soundtracks such as Rocky IV and Batman.
Sound engineer Ted Jensen, renowned for his work at the renowned Sterling Sound studio, has mastered albums by the Eagles, Jean Michel Jarre, Santana, and Norah Jones, for which he received a Grammy in 2002. In the heaviest fields of music, he worked on the most recent albums by The Pretty Reckless, Death by Rock & Roll, and Death Magnetic, by Metallica, as well as albums by bands such as Korn, Disturbed, Alice in Chains, and Papa Roach.
Create a concept, find the right partners, work to make it all cohesive and invest in the potential to pursue your goals. From this perspective, Armored Dawn appeared in 2014 and became relevant in the Brazilian metal scene. After all, they toured alongside great bands such as Saxon, Megadeth, Scorpions, Whitesnake, Europe, Hammerfall, Rhapsody, Fates Warning, Sabaton, Tarja, in addition to participating in the Motörboat, the cruise of the legendary Motörhead.
The first two albums, Power of Warrior (2016) and Barbarians in Black (2018), were produced by important professionals such as Tommy Hansen (Helloween, Jorn), Bruno Agra (We Are Harlot) and Kato Khandwala (The Pretty Reckless, Papa Roach). The third, Viking Zombie, was produced, mixed and mastered by Rodrigo Oliveira and Heros Trench, who is a veteran producer, with more than 200 bands under his belt and a Latin Grammy winner.
Presenting a sophisticated and versatile metal, the group collects great works in music videos, such as the super production “Sail Away” and “Beware of the Dragon”, shown in all movie theaters in Brazil during the trailers for the movie Aquaman. Besides them, “Ragnarok” and “Animal Uncaged” (recorded at the Rockfest Festival, at Allianz Parque, São Paulo, when they played to around 37,000 people) have millions of views on YouTube.
During the pandemic, they released the single “Stronger Together”, which was very well accepted by the fans. The fourth album in Armored Dawn’s career is currently being produced by the band.
