German Heavy Metal legends GRAVE DIGGER have revealed the official teaser for their new single and video ‘Heart Of A Warrior’ coming out on August 19th. The single is taken from their upcoming album “Symbol Of Eternity”.
As three-time Grammy-nominated hard rock quartet NOTHING MORE gear up to hit the road later this month alongside IN THIS MOMENT, the band have shared a fourth new track, “YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT LOVE MEANS,” from theirupcoming album SPIRITS– out October 14 and available for pre-order now. The impassioned song examines what happens when one tries to make a one-sided relationship work with all-too-real lyrics— “I can’t sleep, I can’t eat, there’s no rest, there’s no peace”—which leads into frontman JONNY HAWKINS’ fervently belting out its chorus, “You don’t know what love means, and it’s killing me.” Watch the official video below and stream/download “YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT LOVE MEANS” here: https://nothingmore.ffm.to/youdontknowwhatlovemeans.
“We’re glad this song is finally getting out there so we can dig into the emotional and intimate side of the album,” says Hawkins. “The lyrics and tone of this one feels like it hits in a similar way that ‘Go To War’ and ‘Jenny’ did. It’s going to feel huge playing this next one on tour.”
YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT LOVE MEANS” follows previously released album tracks “SPIRITS” and “TURN IT UP LIKE.” The lead-off track “TIRED OF WINNING” is currently #6 on Billboard’s Active Rock chart, and the extended version, “TIRED OF WINNING / SHIPS IN THE NIGHT, is also included on THE RETALIATIORS ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACKfor Better Noise Film’s upcoming horror-thriller THE RETALIATORS. SPIRITS combines NOTHING MORE’s unapologetically massive anthems, catchy hooks, and progressive music with introspective, philosophical lyrics and thought-provoking emotionalism. Its eleven tracks were co-written by all band members–Hawkins [vocals], MarkVollelunga [guitar], Daniel Oliver [bass], and Ben Anderson [drums]–and their longtime manager and co-producer Will Hoffman. The album documents the tumultuous time the world experienced over the past two years capturing the desperation and isolation of lockdown, the spiral of substance abuse, the pain of broken relationships, and survival in self-reliance while summarizing the overall story and mission of NOTHING MORE: Reflect, Provoke, Inspire. Pre-order SPIRITS now at: https://nothingmore.ffm.to/spirits.
The band has further embellished the SPIRITS concept with their self-designed meta-personality test, “SPIRITS TEST,” and their first-ever graphic novel “SPIRITS VOL.1” (Z2 Comics), which introduces the “SPIRIT TYPES,” which stem from the results of taking the “SPIRITS TEST” as the four main characters in the graphic novel. Find out your SPIRIT TYPE by taking the SPIRITS TEST at https://spiritstest.com/. Pre-order “SPIRITS VOL. 1” (due in Spring 2023) to find out more about your SPIRIT TYPE and the album’s story here: z2comics.com/nothingmore.
NOTHING MORE will bring their mesmerizing live performance—including their crowd favorite “Scorpion Tail” (a 400-pound, 14-foot MIDI controller constructed out of salvaged metal scraps by bassist Daniel Oliver that allows Hawkins to control the music while delivering his theatrical stage presence)—to audiences across the U.S. later this month as they kick off a three-month tour in direct support of In This Moment from 8/26 to 10/23. During the run, NOTHING MORE will branch off for a handful of headlining shows with support from British rockers Sleep Token and rock & roll burlesque dance troupe Cherry Bombs, in addition to dropping in at a few of rock’s biggest festivals, including Louder Than Life, Rocklahoma, Aftershock and Blue Ridge Rock Festival.Tickets are on sale now as well as VIP upgrades athttps://nothingmore.net.

On May 4th 2022, SURVIVE unleashed their first ever live album “Live At Death Valley” in conspiracy with Pest Records. The CD version features 8 tracks plus a bonus EP made of 4 tracks, one having Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan (Venom Inc) as special guest!
Here’s what the legendary Mantas from Venom Inc. had to say about SURVIVE’s live potential:
“I had the pleasure and honor of touring Europe with Survive and they proved themselves to be a valuable asset to the touring package. I can say without hesitation or reservations that they were most definitely my favorite band on the tour. Incredibly nice and gracious guys who obviously loved their music and delivered every single night. I gave them the nickname ‘The Japanese Machine Head’ a song that they played at every sound check became the tour anthem because of its wonderful chorus structure. Melody, hook lines and brutally heavy guitar riffs define this amazing band who deserve global recognition. Maximum Respect from Jeff (Mantas)”

South Louisiana death metal outfit FAUSTIAN have inked a worldwide record deal with Swedish powerhouse label Black Lion Records, who will release the band’s upcoming self-titled debut EP on October 7. Featuring members of Barghest, Kavyk and other, newly formed trio Faustian create a unique style of blackened death metal that seamlessly shifts from razor sharp maelstrom to dirge like grime. The three piece meld violent urgency and claustrophobic atmosphere into a frenzied sonic catharsis.
Faustian about their debut:
“The album was created from a place of thought out and planned collaboration between the three of us. Musically we took our time and all tried to challenge ourselves to make a really brutal yet enticing EP. We took our time crafting our parts and riffs note for note to make something that is both cathartic and visceral in nature. The lyrical concept of the EP was to take you through the genesis of a spirit born out of some terrible event. To show you the collapse of a person’s humanity into the birth of an apparition. We tried to make each compostion flow into the next one both musically and lyrically and succeeded in that regard.”
With the track “Birth Of Apparitions” the band has released its first single, which you can listen to on your favorite streaming platform or right here:
“The opening song represents the fear of fleeting humanity desperately trying to cling to life and the dread of the coming transformation. Dual vocals at the start act as disembodied voices creating panic and confusion.” the band comments.
Tracklist reads as follows:
Threshold (Intro)
Birth Of Apparitions
Communion With Shadows
Void Sight
Faustian‘s self-titled debut was recorded by James Whitten (High on Fire, EYEHATEGOD, Thou) at Hightower Recording and is now available for pre-order HERE
Fargo, Dakota’s PHOBOPHILIC have shared Survive in Obscurity with an accompanying music video. Survive in Obscurity is the third single to be taken from the four-piece’s forthcoming debut album, Enveloping Absurdity, due for release via Prosthetic on September 16. Across PHOBOPHILIC’s first full-length the group explore philosophical schools of absurdist and existential thought against a backdrop of old school death metal.
Speaking on the single release and music video, the band comments: “Survive in Obscurity is about the evolution of living beings on earth and how consciousness is not an advantageous trait for survival. Humans are burdened with an abundance of consciousness and the song explores the ways we address and cope with the lack in inherent meaning in this existence.”
Formed in 2016, PHOBOPHLIC have steadily accumulated early releases in the shape of two demos, 2019’s Undimensioned Identities EP and a split release with Canada’s Sedimentum, all the while honing their craft out across the North American touring circuit – featuring live stints with Gatecreeper and Mutilatred respectively, as well as appearances at LDB Fest and Philadelphia Death Nexus – positioning themselves among US death metals most intriguing young acts.
Following their early productivity both in studio and on the road, PHOBOPHILIC pulled together to shape Enveloping Absurdity’s eight songs into existence. Shunning the fantastical in favour of lived human reality, the band opted to center their gaze on what it is to exist. Drawing from French writers Albert Camus and Jean-Paul Sartre as well as Germany’s Fredrich Nietzche’s strains of philosophical thought, Enveloping Absurdity is a meticulous vivisection of the philosophical self and purpose, as it asks fundamental questions of life’s true meaning.
PHOBOPHILIC’s formative promise is fully captured with a stellar production job that retains their to-the-bone intensity, but allows room for the underlying grandiosity of their compositions, thanks to Adam Tucker at Signaturetone Recording in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The artwork was then licensed from Finnish illustrator Joonas Räsänen at EvM Art, as the band sought to marry Enveloping Absurdity’s overarching thematic ponderance with aesthetic totality.
On their debut long player PHOBOPHILIC rebel against notions of defeat and pessimism, in spite of the struggles that come with an overabundance of consciousness, to a profound embrace of that which ails as well as thrills. At the beating heart of Enveloping Absurdity’s sonic extremity is a victory of the self, not content with simply surviving, but choosing to live.
Whilst Norway is, without a doubt, the spiritual home of Black Metal bands, when applying the term “bands” it is very easy to forget that some of those “bands” quite often involve only one musician, and that these musicians are invariably multi-instrumentalists, who rely solely on themselves to create the concept, and write and perform the material in the studio.
One such artist is Invisus, who, since forming BLODHEMN in 2004, and over three full-length albums, has perfected his approach to Black Metal, with a concept that utilises to perfection that distinctive and aggressive BLODHEMN sound, so integral to the genre.
However, on “Sverger Hemn”, BLODHEMN’s upcoming fourth album, Invisus takes the opportunity to step out of his comfort zone. That’s not to say that he strays far from his trademark icy, aggressive sound, far from it, because he remains true to the heart of his music, whilst, at the same time, using different kinds of vocals and keyboards in order to experiment and explore various elements on a couple of the tracks. The result is an album that is an exhilarating mix of Black Metal and Thrash, seasoned with Rock’n’Roll.
With “Sverger Hemn” set for release on Dark Essence Records on the 7th October, the label has released a single from the album in order to whet the appetite of fans who have been waiting a long time for BLODHEMN’s latest release.
The track, “Fraa Djupet…”, which Invisus explains “takes you into the distressed scenario of fighting the storms and waves to stay afloat. From the depths the undead reap…“, can be streamed or downloaded from various services at https://link.darkessencerecords.no/FraaDjupet
“Sverger Hemn” is an album that took a long time to write and produce, and observant fans of BLODHEMN’s music will notice that musical and visual threads from previous releases progress naturally into the new material. Indeed, much of Invisus’ vision draws inspiration from, and is centred on, the area around Holmengraa on the island of Fedje in Norway, and, not unnaturally, explores aspects of drowning and being taken by the sea.
Once again Invisus plays every single instrument and handles the vocals on “Sverger Hemn”, with the drums being recorded in 2020 at the Conclave & Earshot Studio, and the rest of the instruments and vocals recorded at the Over Evne Studio. BORKNAGAR’s Øystein G. Brun handled the mixing and mastering which was done at the Crosound Studio.
With artwork by Misantropic Art, tracklisting for ” Sverger Hemn” is as follows:
Fraa Djupet…
Vil Livet av Deg
Bomb Bergen
Farvel Feioey
Opp or Lemmen
Velg Din Gift
Tid
“Sverger Hemn” will be available in CD, Digital and Limited Edition Transparent Blue Vinyl formats, and is now available to pre-order from:
