August 19, 2022 will see Melbourne-based hard rock act DEAD CITY RUINS release their fourth studio album, entitled Shockwave, via AFM Records. Following their much acclaimed, third album Never Say Die in 2018, Shockwave will not only introduce new vocalist, Steve Welsh, but showcases the band’s exceptional songwriting talent and high voltage rock ’n’ roll at its best!
After previously-released album singles, “Preacher” and “Speed Machine”, today, the Australians shared a music video for new single “The Sorcerer”. Singer Steve promises: “The Sorcerer will take you on an electric journey into a parallel dimension, where rock and roll wields cosmic powers beyond our comprehension!”
As Shockwave proves, DEAD CITY RUINS don’t just have a penchant for songwriting, but also arrangements and the right energy. Formed in 2012, the band sold their belongings and went all-in when it comes to rock ’n’ roll. Tirelessly touring the planet, the band has managed to capture the hearts of its audience gig by gig – much like Rival Sons, Monster Truck, and similar trailblazers of their generation have. They also share a list of influences with these acts, namely Deep Purple, Guns N’ Roses, Zeppelin. Their goal: bring rock ’n’ roll back to the people, and there is no doubt about it, they will! Shockwave was mixed by US-producer Gene Freeman aka Machine, who has already worked with the likes of Lamb Of God, Clutch, and Crobot. Slated for a release on August 19, 2022 via AFM Records, the pre-sale of Shockwave is available at THIS LOCATION!
Following the release of their debut self titled album, which charted worldwide and garnered praise from both fans and media, Envy Of None, the new project featuring Alex Lifeson (Rush), Andy Curran (Coney Hatch), Alfio Annibalini and singer Maiah Wynne have released a new digital single ( https://envyofnone.lnk.to/DumbRMX )and lyric video for a remix of the album track “DUMB” – “DUMB (Der Dummkopf remix)”.
“DUMB (Der Dummkopf remix)”, was created collectively by Envy Of None and chosen for the remix as it had proven to be one of the band’s favourite tracks from the album.
Envy Of None bassist Andy Curran comments on the process “The approach we took was to create a different version that also kept the spirit of the original. The seeds of DUMB were focused around the relentless bass line that sits under the chorus. The lyrical hook was something me & Maiah co-wrote trying to have fun with the 1+1=3 line as well as the “dumb dee dumb” lines. We always felt the song had a bit of a Euro-electronic dance vibe so on the remix we really pushed that button. Not only did Maiah add back in some her original vocal tracks which don’t appear on the original version, we added three additional drum loops, some keyboard pads and had fun with some voice samples layered in throughout the song. Lastly we added a new intro for the song as well as an outro which Maiah created after she heard some of the first few remixes passes. We really just had fun messing the hair up of this song while trying to keep its simple charm. But as per usual, it really was a joint effort – all 4 EONs had their fingers in the making of this pie! The video was also a blast to be part of. Hope you like it!”

‘How We Play the Game’ is kind of a continuation of the previous release – the superb 2021 effort titled ‘By the Corner of Tomorrow’ that re-launched BAND OF SPICE’s career.
If you thought that that one had a “heavy” approach, you will soon realize that this time Spice and his loyal crew put in an even higher gear to create their hardest album yet.
The new record is filled with sharp blistering riffs and rumbling drums; vocals that are both harsh and melodic; songs that will take you to another place and time; lyrics that are both honest and twisted…
Yes, it’s dirty, gritty and sophisticated at the same time – just like life. It’s real rock’n’roll, baby, not the modern, sugarcoated version of it.
It’s Band of Spice anno 2022!

Famed Finnish glam rock heroes Hanoi Rocks were never shy about wearing their collective influences on their fishnet sleeves. Starting with their acclaimed debut album, the group frequently included surprising cover versions among their killer original songs – from the Carol King penned “Walking With My Angel” to the bluesy folk of Hoyt Axton’s “Lighting Bar Blues” to the smoking hot take on CCR’s “Up Around The Bend,” which currently rides the top of the band’s most played songs on the Spotify platform. Now, HR guitarist ANDY MCCOY taps into the rich musical history that inspired him on his own full-length album of highly addictive covers entitled Jukebox Junkie!
The album features an eclectic mix of songs showcasing not only McCoy’s deep love of numerous styles and genres but also his immense gift for synthesizing these disparate artists into a cohesive song sequence. On Jukebox Junkie, reggae legend Toots Hibbert’s “54-46 That’s My Number” grooves next to “Take Me I’m Yours” by ‘80s hitmakers Squeeze while Iggy & Bowie’s “China Girl” and rockabilly queen Wanda Jackson’s fantastic “Funnel Of Love” highlight the album’s second half.
McCoy himself shares, “These are songs that everyone ought to know. I chose them from a list of 60 that I thought deserved to be bigger hits. I think this is the most colorful album I have ever done.”
For a taste of delights in store, McCoy has released “Take Me I’m Yours” as a digital single as well as a captivating video of the track.
THE LOVECRAFT SEXTET‘s forthcoming album, “Miserere“, is the deepest, bleakest, most contemplative emission to-date from prolific composer Jason Köhnen (CELESTIAL SEASON, BONG-RA, MANSUR, ex-THE KILIMANJARO DARKJAZZ ENSEMBLE). This mesmerizing new long player is the devilish counterpart to the operatic chamber jazz-noir of 2021’s “In Memoriam” and the aural embodiment of the artist’s research into philosophy, antiquity, mythology and hermeticism.
The music on “Miserere” was composed and produced by Jason Köhnen. James Plotkin (AMENRA, ELECTRIC WIZARD, OLD MAN GLOOM) took care of the mastering. The front cover painting, ‘Kathleen‘ by David Jagger, was re-worked by Jason Köhnen.
Allowing a first glimpse into the coming long player, THE LOVECRAFT SEXTET unveil the album’s opener. ‘[Opus I]-Occulta‘ carefully assembles the musical ingredients for a classic Requiem à la Verdi with avantgarde and noisy tunes. Slowly and thoughtfully evolving, the harsh and grim temper of Black Metal interwoven with a subtle noir atmosphere and the grandeur of neo classical arrangements define the five-minute-long composition.

Jason Köhnen narrates about the conceptual idea behind song and album:
“The song (and album) started as a conceptual idea. There are two angles in how I approached writing the album. Firstly, taking the concept of Psalm 51, and translating this to create my own prayers of repentance. It needed to omit a sinister and claustrophobic atmosphere, and reflect the sound of burning heretics. The lyrics are naturally also derived from Psalm 51, also known as the penitential psalms. Fascinating to have a concept that inflicts punishment on oneself as an expression of repentance for wrongdoing, I found this a marvellous starting point for composing music with which I could reflect my personal thoughts on the concept in question. Secondly, I wanted to continue my explorations into the realms of Darkjazz. Having experimented with the subgenre for nearly 20 years now, this needed to be the darkest of the dark. A music piece written for inquisitions. I purposely did not want distorted guitars as the foundation to the tapestry of the music, but it did need something similar, so I worked to create the menacing synth that replaces the typical guitar distortion. This also gives the album it’s signature sound, and the synth is a bit more flexible for creating specific atmospheres. I wanted to produce an album that is incomparable with any other album, and I’m quite satisfied that it reached a certain level of originality. All in all, the overall atmosphere has managed to create a pretty interesting musical landscape. Tomás de Torquemada would surely have approved.“
“Miserere” will be released on CD, vinyl (including an exclusive DMP edition) and digitally via Debemur Morti Productions on October 7th. Pre-orders for the album are possible via the label’s EU, US and Bandcamp stores.
THE LOVECRAFT SEXTET is one of the many projects from multi-instrumentalist Jason Köhnen. Renowned for his previous projects BONG-RA or THE KILIMANJARO DARKJAZZ ENSEMBLE and THE MOUNT FUJI DOOMJAZZ CORPORATION.
Köhnen coined the term “Darkjazz” back in 1999 when he composed a track entitled ‘Darkjazz‘ for his 2001 “Darkbreaks” EP. From that point embarking on a long musical journey into dark experimentations with the jazz sound palette in combination with a plethora of genres.
THE LOVECRAFT SEXTET was evoked after a void appeared with the ending of his other Darkjazz outlets, firstly TKDE and TMFDJC and then the short lived THE THING WITH FIVE EYES project which saw Köhnen‘s first flirtations with Arabic scales and instruments, progressively transforming into his MANSUR project together with ex-PHURPA member Dmitry El Demerdashi and avantgarde metal THY CATAFALQUE vocalist Martina Hórvath.
Köhnen‘s approach to his releases with THE LOVECRAFT SEXTET are to open the spectrum of Darkjazz in all its wonderful and mysterious facets. Seeing each release as a script and soundtrack to a different movie, setting a different pace and atmosphere and playing with unorthodox climaxes and atmospheres. The projects hosts a list of dedicated guest musicians, who all participate as the leading actors in these scripts, all playing a crucial role in the soundtracks of these non-existing movies.
THE LOVECRAFT SEXTET releases albums on Denovali Records and Debemur Morti Productions, in a way where the Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde part of this project comes to its best and most creative fruition.
Apart from the conceptual audio releases, THE LOVECRAFT SEXTET also navigates through the multi-disciplinary arts. The “In Memoriam” release saw a first in a series of short stories and audiobooks combined with an album. Future releases will see more art disciplines combined as a release.

We had a great time composing and recording the record and I’m very excited for you all to hear what we put together. Definitely a heavy album but with some cool twists and turns! Hope you all like it.” – Doug Aldrich
‘RADIANCE’ is the second instalment THE DEAD DAISIES have recorded with esteemed producer Ben Grosse at the helm, recorded at The Mix Room in North Hollywood California.
All the songs on ‘RADIANCE’ are written by David Lowy, Doug Aldrich and Glenn Hughes. Hard-hitting drummer Brian Tichy returned to The Daisies in early 2022 to lay down the drums on ‘RADIANCE’.
“I am very much looking forward to the release of ‘RADIANCE’, the newest LP from The Dead Daisies! It was great to start off being back in the band by getting together with Doug, Glenn, David, and producer Ben Grosse at his studio dialling in the songs that make up ‘RADIANCE’. It was a very smooth, organized process of jamming with the guys getting all drum grooves and parts just right!
The final result is another slab of butt-kicking rock! The guys all brought their A-Game and a tight, powerful record was created! I’m looking forward to everyone hearing it and playing more of these songs live in the near future!” Brian Tichy.
‘RADIANCE’ will be available as a Digipak CD with sticker, Gatefold black vinyl with printed inner sleeves and digitally from September 30th.
