Polish stoner rockers TAXI CAVEMAN have announced their sophomore album “Galactic Slope”, coming out via Interstellar Smoke Records.
“Galactic Slope” is a journey through cosmos and our need to explore free, improvised playing. We took desert, ashes from Mars, stars around Jupiter and covered it with mud coming from doomish side of the band. This album is a bridge between our first self-titled record and the third one which is in progress right now.

“Taxi Caveman hail from Warsaw, Poland and consist of Bartosz Nauman – (bass/vocals); Piotr Rutkowski (guitar/vocals) and Vincent Grabb (drums/vocals), they are a trio who jam grooves that blend furious stoner metal with elements of punk, sludge, doom. psych and classic rock that is then decorated in a variety of vocal tones, it is not what you would call an atypical Polish sound but it does carry all those traits of heaviness and intensity we have come to expect from that part of Eastern Europe.”
“Taxi Caveman are not a doom band, a sludge band or a punk band but at the same time they are all those things, they are a rock band who can turn their hands to all of rocks various forms and styles and do so while still managing to sound fresh and original. Taxi Caveman have great musical chops and on this their debut album they display those chops to great effect across a wide spectrum of styles, where these guys take their music next is going to be very interesting indeed. Check ’em out ….. “ StonerKing1 blog

When it comes to contemporary thrash, there are few bands that can stand toe-to-toe with Germany’s VULTURE. Establishing their status with 2016’s Victim To The Blade EP and 2017’s The Guillotine, then cementing their reputation with 2019’s Ghastly Waves And Battered Graves, they returned last year with the mighty Dealin’ Death, one of the most ruthless records the genre has seen. “Take all our key elements – fierce riffing, halftone-shifts, aggressive vocals, huge toms, changing dynamics, horror-synths and classical twin guitar harmonies and cast it in a mould, then you have ‘Dealin’ Death’,” says guitarist Stefan Castevet.
Two years after the highly anticipated “Horizons“, BEYOND THE BLACK are back with a bang and start a new chapter with the release of their new single “Reincarnation”.
Jennifer Haben proclaims: „Reincarnation materialized from a growing recognition of our mortality as humans and the consequent responsibility to live our lives to the fullest. This responsibility means to stand up for yourself, relentlessly fight for your values and also confront your biggest fears. Reincarnation is about becoming your true self and starts a new, epic chapter. This is Beyond the Black! And Beyond the Black is back!”
BEYOND THE BLACK will celebrate an international festival summer run this year leading into their biggest European headline tour to date.

German Symphonic Metal shooting stars BEYOND THE BLACK look back on a stratospheric success story. Already their 2015 debut album hit like a bomb in their home country. “Songs Of Love And Death” besieged the German Top 15 for weeks and lead up to the band being awarded the Metal Hammer Award 2015 for “Best Debut”. Its successor “Lost In Forever” (2016) entered the German charts on #4 right away and paved ways for a huge tour from Germany over countries like UK, Russia or Japan. Since the band’s live debut in 2014 they have played the world’s biggest Metal festival Wacken Open Air several times and toured as a support act for heavy weights such as Aerosmith, Korn, Scorpions, Saxon or Within Temptation. In the course of album release number three “Heart Of the Hurricane” BEYOND THE BLACK absolved their first own European headline tour in fall 2019 consisting of over 20 shows in 10 countries–most of them sold out. But even before finishing their touring cycle BEYOND THE BLACK got back to the studio to write record number four. The highly anticipated “Horizons” was finally released in June 2020, entered the German album charts on #3 (CH #6, AT #16, BE #53) and marks the band’s most successful album release to date.
The Metal Voice recently interviewed singer Nathan James of the new group Iconic which features Michael Sweet (guitars), Joel Hoekstra (guitars), Marco Mendoza (bass), Tommy Aldridge (drums), and Nathan James (vocals), ICONIC will release their new album ‘Second Skin’ on June 17, 2022 via Frontiers Music s.r.l.
Watch the full interview below.
When asked if the 80’s sound on the album was intentional “I think we were aware that we wanted something that showcased everyone to the best of their ability and the music in the 80’s did that, it showed you how amazing players were and how amazing singers were. We wanted this band to showcase their talent and that we could write good songs.”
When asked if the band intends to perform live “When we did the two days of the photo shoot in LA we had such a wonderful time and we talked quite openly about the idea on how fun it would be if this actually makes it to the live arena and give it a proper go, so we will see, hopefully that will happen.”
When asked if this is a one off project or if it will continue “I have already signed for a second option, so if Frontiers do decide do another option I am already in. I’m guessing it’s the same for everyone else, we will see. The label will want us to tour if the album is a success, fingers crossed. A live performance would be great, picking songs from everyone’s repertoire how great would that be, it would be a lot of fun.”
Michael Sweet, known for his work as guitarist/vocalist for the legendary heavy metal band Stryper and his solo work, with his instantly recognizable voice and guitar style is really a name that needs no introduction to the hard rock faithful. Joel Hoekstra, currently of Whitesnake and Trans-Siberian Orchestra, is one of hard rock’s premiere guitarists, whose fretwork is regularly praised and admired. Marco Mendoza’s resume really speaks for itself (Thin Lizzy, Black Star Riders, The Dead Daisies, Journey) and the legendary bassist shines, as he always does, here. Tommy Aldridge, currently of Whitesnake, has also played with Ozzy Osbourne, Ted Nugent, and Black Oak Arkansas, among others, and is considered one of the great hard rock drummers of all-time. And handling lead vocals is none other than Inglorious’ Nathan James, a young man whose vocal style is a fitting, proper descendent of rock’s vocal legends of the ’70s
SOILWORK continue to please their fans by releasing the second single of the upcoming album Övergivenheten. After delivering the title track of their new longplayer already some weeks ago, the Swedes release the next single called ‘Nous Sommes La Guerre‘. This track represents the next massive piece of their highly anticipated album which is due on August 19th.
SOILWORK about the new single: “‘Nous Sommes la Guerre’ evolved around a “fight or flight” theme. The song is about internal struggles and confronting your own worst sides. It’s a cry for help in defeating the darkness inside of you and move towards a brighter path.”
The extraordinary artwork for the new single is created by Argavilda who has a very own view on the band’s latest output. His thoughts about ‘Nous Sommes La Guerre’ and his interpretation of it: “The idea is to peel the skin of the narrator to reveal the individual layers and see what makes the individual. All the scarred and murky sides being laid bare the deeper you dig. Crying golden blood because there are no more tears. It is a person soul searching to find answers and exposing themselves to ask for help. My interpretation of the lyrics is intricately connected to being lost and realizing, that you must build yourself up anew and that you cannot do it alone”.
On July 22nd, Canada’s WAKE will release their sixth full-length, Thought Form Descent, via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of the album, the new single, “Infinite Inward”, can be streamed below.
The video for the previously released single, “Swallow the Light” (directed by Michael Jari Davidson//@MJD_DOP), can be viewed at: metalblade.com/wake – where Thought Form Descent can also be pre-ordered in various formats.
Never a band interested in repeating themselves, WAKE has evolved with every release. 2020’s Devouring Ruin made this clearer than ever, hammering the point home with the Confluence EP in the same year, and now they return with Thought Form Descent – their most dynamic, diverse and emotional release to date. “I’d describe the record as a place to reconsider what ‘extreme’ means. The words ‘brutal’, ‘crushing’, ‘devastating’ are overused adjectives for extreme music. We wanted to force people to confront the idea that ‘brutal’ or ‘extreme’ ideas aren’t just blastbeats or angular tritones, or, more importantly, ‘brutal’ elements alongside pointedly passive elements can create their own experience that can channel both and neither.” The result is eight nuanced tracks that run the gamut from relentlessly heavy to exquisitely beautiful – often simultaneously – and instantly grab hold of the listener, demanding their full attention. However, at the same time, they are lushly textured and densely layered, and offer more with every subsequent exposure, unfurling to show hidden depths, and taking WAKE to a whole new level.
To track the album, the band once again collaborated with Dave Otero (Allegaeon, Cattle Decapitation) at Flatline Audio in Denver, CO. “Dave is someone who does something we love – supersedes what people think of him. Sure, he recorded many successful death metal albums, but his ability to understand pop music and its composition, his knowledge of music theory and his willingness to get right into the movement of a song and its chord progressions, not just the riffs, are things that go way beyond ‘death metal’. He can make hard right turns into wildly different sonic territory without batting an eyelash, and he always has an idea during the deviation, too. He contributed a lot to this record.” Having prepared exhaustively in advance, once in the studio the band were able to try new things, play with ideas and rearrange songs, having the time to go down the proverbial rabbit hole and see where it took them. Kevin Hufnagel of Gorguts and Vaura also makes an appearance, playing guitar on “Pareidolia” and “Observer To Master”, the latter track one of the most melodic on the record.
