For the occasion, Gianluca Mastrangelo involved his band-mate in Vivaldi Metal Project, keyboardist Mistheria (Bruce Dickinson, Joe Stump’s Tower of Babel, Artlantica), and other Italian musicians, namely Luca Basile (also him part of the Vivaldi Metal Project as composer and cellist), Luca Montella on guitar, Silvia Pistolesi on bass (Hellucination, Infinite Rising), and Andrea De Carolis on drums (5 Rand, Travellin ‘South, Timestorm).
After the well-received release of their latest album, Diamanti, TEMPERANCE is back for more! The modern melodic metal aficionados have come through with an uncompromising single, “Set Yourself Free” – a bonus track cut from the official digital deluxe version of the album, out today via Napalm Records! Rhythmic guitars meet melodies and grand compositions, unfolding TEMPERANCE‘s combined vocal powers to their fullest potential. “Set Yourself Free” is one of TEMPERANCE‘s heaviest songs yet!
This melodic metal triumph prepares listeners for the band’s upcoming show in London at Underworld on March 29, 2022. That night, the Italian quintet will proudly headline The International Women of Rock Unity Tour as a special guest, alongside Control The Storm and Alia Tempora.
Marco Pastorino (vocals, guitar) comments on the new single: “‘Set Yourself Free’ is probably the most modern metal track we recorded during Diamanti‘s sessions. It’s an extra song for special moments like this, so we decided to release it to celebrate our comeback on stage after two years. Enjoy and let’s sing it with us!”
Diamanti was mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Epica, Amaranthe), with the cover artwork once again created by Yann Souetre (Ayreon).
Marco Pastorino (vocals, guitar) on the new album: “With Diamanti, we’ve managed to combine our best qualities and select the best TEMPERANCE songs so far. It’s not our heaviest album, it’s not our fastest work, but surely it’s our favourite one so far! We weren’t necessarily supposed to record a new album only one year after Viridian, but luckily we made it! In this album you will find our trademarks: the vocal harmonies, the catchy melodies, but also epic stuff, strong arrangements, and long tracks – I am very proud of Diamanti and I am convinced we have written a bombastic album!”
February 25, 2022 seen German melodic and power metal act SERIOUS BLACK release their sixth studio album, entitled Vengeance Is Mine, via AFM Records.
One of the new songs on the record is called ‘Album Of Our Life’ and hits the nail on the head in several respects. On the one hand, the band succeeded in creating what is probably their most powerful and imaginative work to date, with loads of great guitar riffs, grooving rhythms and anthemic melodies. On the other hand, the album’s lyrics venture into territories previously uncharted by the band. Says bassist and band mastermind Mario Lochert: “This time, I have allowed more insights into my emotions and private life than ever before, i.e. into how I think, how I feel, how I am, and how difficult it can be to keep a band going when you yourself aren’t well. The lyrics on ‘Vengeance Is Mine’ reflect the past four or five years. This, of course, has had an impact on the songwriting, which has become even more intense and emotional.”
Vengeance Is Mine has not only turned into a prime example of a deeply melodic yet dynamic metal album, but also entered the official German album charts at a phenomenal #16! Today, the band shared an in-depth track-by-track listening video, dive a bit deeper into the story and sound of SERIOUS BLACK‘s critically acclaimed Vengeance Is Mine:
Vengeance Is Mine was produced and mixed by Lochert at his SERIOUS BLACK Studio in Kirchseeon, Germany, and also marks the debut of new vocalist Nikola Mijic. The guitars were recorded by Dominik Sebastian at his own studio and all orchestral arrangements and keyboards were cut by Bob Katsionis in Greece. SERIOUS BLACK enlisted singer Anna Likunic from Belgrade for the anthemnic background vocals. Mika Jussila (Avantasia, Stratovarius, Nightwish) was in charge of the first mastering sessions at the renowned Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, before the recordings were polished by Konst Fischer during a second, innovative mastering process to optimise the sound. Lochert adds: “This time we really pulled out all the stops to get the optimum result. And I think our efforts have really paid off!”
The album was released on February 25, 2022 through AFM Records, and is available at THIS LOCATION!
Just one year after their recent album release “Necro Sapiens” Danish Death Metal powerhouse BAEST are back by announcing their 2022 EP “Justitia” . Including five brand-new tracks the band picks up on where they left off with “Necro Sapiens” and recorded another old school Death Metal masterpiece.
Band comments:
“We are the Gargoyles restless and wild. With wings of stone and swords of iron we shall slay. With our 2nd single “Gargoyles” we introduce the henchmen of chaos and guardians of the towers of suffocation. These cosmic and cold beings uphold the unjustified laws of the czarina, lady Justitia. This time around we chose the EP format, to be able to experiment more with the BAEST sound, and what we can do. So we chose to feature some different singers, to add new elements into the songs. Trevor’s dynamic vocals seems to fit Gargoyles extreme riffing, and we are stoked to have him join in, as we have been fans of The Black Dahlia Murder for years!”
When the gates of the world slammed shut in 2020, German metal spearheads CALIBAN focused their energies in the studio. The results were nothing short of prolific: at first, “Zeitgeister”, a collection of classic CALIBAN songs re-done in their native German, but more importantly, a brand-new album, “Dystopia”, that is due for a release on April 22nd, 2022. While the song “VirUS” is out on all digital platforms the matching video clip, that was directed by Witzki Visions, is available HERE.
Band comments:
“It’s not about a real virus like Corona, but about ideas planted in our heads that spread like one and eat us from the inside out. Moreover, it is a concentrated charge of more than 20 years of friendship, a real metal mixture that will wreck your neck.”
Apart from the Digital Album and a Ltd. CD Digipak the following vinyl colours are available: black LP & Poster, 300x white-black marbled LP & Poster available at CM Distro Wholesale EU & EU Onlineshop, 300x transparent, blue-black marbled LP & Poster available at EMP, 500x black-blood red splattered LP & Poster available at Impericon, 500x transparent pink-black marbled LP & Poster available in the USA.
Norwegian melodic death metallers HAUNTED BY SILHOUETTES have just premiered another music video, this time for their latest single “Selkie” which features Björn Strid on guest vocals. “Selkie” is the second single from the band’s new EP which is set to drop worldwide on May 6, 2022. The music video was directed by Stian Hoel Fossen and Mathias Jamtli Rye.
The No Man Isle EP was planned to become a short concept story written by Mathias. Inspired by poet John Donne, it focuses on themes such as solitary survival, family, independence, and societal humanity. Lead vocalist Mathias explains, “No Man Isle centers around a middle-aged divorced man that decides to cut all ties with the world, and to live on his family’s deserted island for the rest of his life. He travels to the island and a lot of mysterious things happen that seem to be connected to his uncle’s disappearance from the island 40 years earlier.” The musical vision behind the EP saw the band turn to a slightly more melodic direction, while taking the song arrangements to the next level, while aspiring to become larger than life. Mathias states, “The songs are perhaps more melodic and to the point this time around with more distilled, focused details added to each song. There’s also a maritime retro vibe going on with the added synth arrangements that make the songs pop out more and sound a bit bigger, epic and unique.” No Man Isle was also a great opportunity for Haunted By Silhouettes to take their unique death metal sound – down a heavier path. Their method of writing, demoing, and finally recording the album was an experience to remember. Stian recalls, “We wanted to tune down from drop-C to drop-A to make the sound heavier. Per Kristian and I wrote a bunch of riffs and then the whole band took a trip to a cabin in the mountains of Norway to write 7 demo tracks for the EP. From those seven, five songs ended up on the EP.”
“The meaning of Selkie is inspired by a short-story I wrote to boost my creativity in the writing process of the EP,” says lead vocalist Mathias Rye. “The lyrics describes a man that sees something extraordinary that makes him question reality, causing him to doubt his newly-found life-choice (living the rest of his life alone on an island). The overall meaning boils down to how we encounter sudden pangs of self-doubt in life and how we deal with it.” Drummer Håvard adds “It’s easy to pick a favorite song while writing an album, and then change your choice later, but “Selkie” has tickled me in all the right places from the start, and when we got Strid on it’s just crème de la crème all the way. Story-wise, it’s an important song for the EP, and the musicality of it sets it apart from the relentless heaviness of our first single, Flock.”
