Finnish heavy metal band MIDNIGHT BULLET released their fourth studio album Hostile Resistance via Inverse Records. In addition to album the band also released a new music video Rise And Fall.
Tuomas Lahti, vocals & rhythm guitar: “New album is OUT and it’s so cool to release also Rise and Fall single at the same time. Rise and Fall is one of the main leading songs in this album and it felt like this song really brought everything together when we were writing new album. Riffs are very catchy and chorus turned out to be awesome. We didn’t try to find any compromises this time and we just wanted to go flat out and I think this song can really manifest that. So proud and happy!”

Stoner death metal icons CANNABIS CORPSE are now announcing the worldwide reissue of their 2009 EP, ‘The Weeding!’ This cult recording of thick, groove-laden death set the stage for the world-class pummeling of the ensuing three full-length albums (‘From Wisdom To Baked,’ ‘Left Hand Pass’ and ‘Nug So Vile’). ‘The Weeding’ is available again on limited digipak CD, and a strictly limited (500 copies) white vinyl 12″ with unique UV print and gold-foil stamped jacket.
‘The Weeding’ is appropriately due on April 22 as a belated gift to their fellow stoners to celebrate 4/20!
CANNABIS CORPSE’s latest strain of weed-metal is another potent dose of bong ripping brutality laced with tasty riffs, vicious drumming, and powerful THC. With a title inspired by CRYPTOPSY’s seminal album, ‘Nug So Vile’ is a horrifying look into the mind of a hardcore marijuana abuser with the demented fantasies of a reefer addict fully on display. The record is more than just a mere follow up to 2017’s ‘Left Hand Pass’, but rather serves as a solid companion piece, seamlessly picking up right where the band left off.
Sharing a passion for marijuana and death metal, brothers Phil ‘Landphil’ Hall (MUNICIPAL WASTE, IRON REAGAN) and Josh ‘Hallhammer’ Hall formed CANNABIS CORPSE in 2006 in Richmond, VA as a loving homage to the genre’s forefathers. The brothers decided from the start to separate themselves from the pack by infusing a green sense of humour into their horror-inspired lyrics. Meanwhile, it has become a badge of honour for many of the Halls’ idols to have one of their titles parodied by the Richmond outfit.
Now, CANNABIS CORPSE has returned as a three-piece and despite slimming the line-up down since ‘Left Hand Pass’, ‘Nug So Vile’ still sounds as full and thick as ever, solidifying their place among death metal’s elite. So, roll a blunt, grab a neckbrace, and prepare yourself for another nasty assault from the kings of weed metal.

Norwegian band MARATON is known for their distinct and iconic soundscape, characterised by technical drums, earthquake-awakening bass, shimmering guitars and almost sacred vocals. The band will release a new album fall 2022, of which the first single “Perdurant Lives” is released!
On the upcoming single, songwriter and guitarist Simen states: “Perdurant Lives is about the paradoxical nature of mankind, who are capable of loving themselves while at the same time knowingly engaging in very self-destructive behavior. As such, the verse and chorus represent each of these opposites. I think it´s probably the best song we´ve ever done.”
On Perdurant Lives, Maraton further explore and broaden their melodic potential, and the track marks a new chapter for the band. In the new single they effortlessly combine their already distinguished sound with heavy elements of electronica. The result is a playful, yet melancholic dreamscape of beautiful alternative rock.
“To us; this song feels like home, and we hope we manage to evoke the same feeling in our listeners” Vocalist Fredrik adds.
Maraton break boundaries between genres, creating progressive alternative rock with roaring bass, massive guitars and exceptional vocals. Described as “shamelessly melodic”, the band experiments with sounds and creates music that can be described as a dynamic journey through sensory impressions. Thematically, lines are drawn between the emotional and the philosophical, and the songs are based on human receptivity to new impressions and developments.Maraton released their debut album “Meta” in 2019, with great success and very good reviews internationally. At the time of writing, the debut has almost 3 million plays on Spotify alone, and despite the pandemic and little opportunity for concerts, the band’s fan base is constantly growing. The band has been praised for their fantastic and energetic live performances with such claims as: “Bergersen’s falsetto delivery is simply amazing” and “With a voice driven by power and clarity, I was left with goosebumps in places you did not know you could get goosebumps ” -Heavymetal.no. Maraton have previously played at festivals such as Roskildefestivalen in Denmark, By:larm- and the Trondheim Rocks festival in Norway, and after the debut album they went on an extensive European tour with Leprous.By combining and experimenting with different genres, the band creates a distinct and iconic soundscape that is characterised by technical drumming performed with mechanical precision, earthquake-awakening bass, shimmering guitars and almost sacred vocals. Despite this strange and wonderful mix, the songs present themselves as surprisingly catchy, but at the same time timeless, and as something that should be enjoyed and absorbed through more than one listening.Maraton are finally back with new music, and the follow-up album “Unseen Color” is expected in the autumn of 2022.
WITHOUT WAVES yesterday premiered their new track, titled Seven, and its accompanying visualizer via New Noise. Seven is the third single to be taken from the Chicago, IL experimental metal band’s upcoming third album, Comedian, due to be released via Prosthetic Records on March 18 and is available to pre-order here.
Seven is available now on all digital streaming platforms.
Speaking on the single release, the band comments: “The light at the end of the tunnel isn’t always bright. Most of the time life is cloudy and confusing, and this song is about accepting the nuance of it all. Contentment is rarely perfect. It involves acceptance of inconvenient truths. In the spoken word section of the song, there is a lyric from each song off the record. It sums the meaning of the record so perfectly, blue giving way to gray, wrong giving way to right… Life is difficult. Let’s all just be kinder to one another. Or not. Whatever… it’s all relative.”
Having been a band for over a decade, and grown together – personally and creatively – for over half of their lives, the members of WITHOUT WAVES have an unspoken bond, a synergy that unites them and drives them forward. Despite the at-times difficult topics covered on the album, the band acknowledge that there is often humour to be found in human tragedy; comedy can soften hard truths which makes them easier to reckon with and process – hence the album title. Comedian is essentially an analogy for using art to disarm what troubles you.
Embracing the multiplicity of ways to interpret the label ‘progressive’, WITHOUT WAVES have created an album that would nestle comfortably in the record collections of fans of both The Dillinger Escape Plan and Devin Townsend, Gojira and Porcupine Tree. Their dynamic, experimental take on heaviness is evocative, thought-provoking and unconventional. Comedian was self-produced alongside Rollin Weary, who also mixed the record, before it was mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege in Portland, OR.
For a band that has always been sonically heavy, WITHOUT WAVES have added an additional layer of intensity with Comedian, that adds emotional weight to what was already a crushing proposition.
Comedian tracklist: 1. Good Grief 2. Animal Kingdom 3. .algorithm 4. Set & Setting 5. Sleep Deep 6. Do What Scares You 7. Sleight in Shadows 8. Day 15 9. Worlds Apart 10. Seven
