Paris-based instrumental, progressive metal act OAKS has inked a worldwide deal with Argonauta Records for the release of their upcoming studio album entitled Genesis of the Abstract! The band’s first full-length record will be out during 2022.
OAKS unleashes powerful, conceptual and enthralling metal, leaving its listener in a complex sound universe. Heavily inspired by bands alike Mastodon, Tool or Pink Floyd, the French trio offers a diverse mixture in between brutal incursions and calm moments ahead of a storm. Get a first sneak peak, as OAKS just shared a signing and album trailer here:
Says the band: “We are thrilled to start the journey of our first album, Genesis of the Abstract, with Gero, Mona, Michele and Argonauta Records, a label that always support innovative and honest bands of our scene.“
Gero Lucisano, owner of Argonauta Records, adds: “
“When it comes to instrumental bands, you know they have to prove to offer ‘something more’ due to the lack of a singer. It may happen when you see them live alongside a visual show, though it’s not often easy when listening to an album. With OAKS, as soon as I got the chance to hear their songs, I’ve been immediately caught by their sound, thanks to its massive incursions into psychedelic and progressive territories. A very genuine approach!”
Just recently, OAKS premiered a first album single and video clip for “The Void”. The music video is streaming at THIS LOCATION!
DAN REED NETWORK have announced four concerts in the UK this June. Tickets go on sale Friday February 25th at 10am from www.danreed-network.com/tour. Dates include – Waterloo Music Bar, Blackpool (June 16), The Welly, Hull (June 17), The Dreadnought, Bathgate (June 18), O2 Ritz, Manchester (June 19).
Says Dan Reed, “As soon as we were made aware that our shows with Reckless Love were going to be rescheduled again it became imperative to find a way to get back on the road as soon as possible, we have an album that we know is going to deliver and we are desperate to get out there and play it live for everyone! We’re delighted that we were able to arrange these headlines shows around the album’s release date so we can celebrate that properly with all of you.”
The tour will see the band take in four UK dates including a special guest performance at the HRH AOR Festival at 02 Ritz in Manchester on Sunday June 19, before heading to Hamburg for an album release party show hosted by their record label, Drakkar Entertainment.
“The ongoing instability caused by the pandemic has made it impossible for Dan Reed Network and Reckless Love to travel to the UK and throughout Europe,” says Dan.
Dan adds, “This decision has not been made lightly. We were determined to give these shows as much of a chance of happening as possible, however it is now clear that the world is not yet in a secure enough position for us to be confident about traversing countries with shows unaffected by Covid. There is the added caveat that when we return to play our first shows in what now will be well over two years, we want to do this in true DRN fashion and that means freely interacting with those who want to come and hang out with the band post shows. Our live performances are fuelled by our interactions with you all, before, during and after our shows!”
The band’s new album Let’s Hear It For The King, originally slated for March 4th release, has been moved to the new release date of Friday June 17th. Pre-order the album from https://danreednetwork.tmstor.es/

“The reception to the first single “Starlight” was truly incredible,” says Dan Reed. “We’re determined to keep our foot to the floor. “Pretty Karma” is the perfect track for that, and we hope this track keeps the anticipation levels for ‘Let’s Hear It For the King’ simmering on high! Let’s Hear It For The King is Dan Reed Network’s sixth studio album, and their first since 2018’s Origins album. The new album comes full circle to DRN’s original vision statement – to challenge beliefs, smash down existing protocol, and build something new out of the shrapnel.
“We are chomping at the bit to get out there and bring people what we genuinely believe is the heaviest, funkiest and most melodic DRN album to date,” says Dan Reed. “These songs are the strongest representation of the band’s sound that we’ve ever created. You have been warned!”
The long-awaited new DRN album pays tremendous detail to infectious melodies, provocative lyrics and honours their shredding funk rock roots. This album is for visionaries who want to be part of and bear witness to the next step in the Dan Reed Network’s artistic evolution.
Available to pre-order from https://danreednetwork.tmstor.es, the new album will be available as a limited edition box set, limited edition coloured vinyl, and much more. Dan has even created personalised, hand-written lyric sheets for each song from Let’s Hear It For The King that will be randomly placed inside the limited-edition box sets.
“The new album snarls and bites,” says an enthusiastic Dan Reed. “We’re ready to deliver a lot of energy and give the audience a direct shot of funk n’ roll!”

Bournemouth rockers SKINNY KNOWLEDGE have premiered a riotous and rowdy video for new single ‘I Wonder’ ahead of a series of UK headline shows, guest slots and festival dates.
Skinny Knowledge’s own brand of high energy accessible rock continues with the release of ‘I Wonder’. The accompanying new music video encapsulates the bravado and comradery of this young group, playfully showcasing what it is to be a band in the modern music industry.
Following the release of Skinny Knowledge’s debut album ‘Don’t Turn Out The Lights’ in 2021, ‘I Wonder’ is another slice of high-octane, fast paced, and super catchy rock ‘n’ roll. It’s also the first track that features all band members performing on the record.
Singer/songwriter Andy L. Smooth explains, “It’s the first song we’ve released as the four of us, rather than just me playing and recording it all. Because I’m a control freak, I was super nervous about that, but the guys have smashed it and I’m stoked for people to hear this song and check out the video ahead of our UK tour date.”
The brand new single was recorded at The Ranch Production House in Southampton, with engineering by Kurt Fagan & Andy L Smooth, and was mixed and mastered by Lewis Johns (Employed To Serve, Loathe).
‘I Wonder’ follows hot on the heels of Skinny Knowledge’s successful 2021 debut album ‘Don’t Turn Out The Lights’ and is available to stream and download now. Don’t miss Skinny Knowledge on tour!

US rocktronica project GHOST IN THE MACHINE have released a new official video taken from their recent Sliptrick Records album Journey To The Otherwise. The track is called Lies (The Truth Mix) and here’s the official band statement; “Liars are everywhere – they are manipulators and destroyers of trust. The story you are about to see is Lies (The Truth Mix) …an investigation to identify and incarcerate the Liars. Names have been changed to protect the innocent.
Lies (The Truth Mix) is the reboot of the industrial metal classic elevated with groovy electro beats and sinister synthesizers. The original intention remains but the song is given new life and a contemporary sound. Driving guitar riffs abuse your ears and hissing vocals embody the lyric that speaks of lies and the hatred for those you wield them.”
Ghost In The Machine – Journey To The Otherwise The new album from US rocktronica project Ghost In The Machine is called Journey to the Otherwise and is familiar yet different, subtle yet strong and mysterious yet exoteric. It is an intense musical experience, defying categorization but captivating lyrically in a time where the world has seemingly flipped upside down with a pandemic and social and political insanity …read more
Finnish symphonic doom/death metal band DEPRESSED MODE released a new single and music video Eternal Darkness which features Veronica Bordacchini from Fleshgod Apocalypse. The track is taken from their upcoming third studio album Decade of Silence which is set to be released on May 6th 2022 via Inverse Records.
Vocalist Otto Salonen comment: “I forgot Eternal Darkness in a desk drawer so to speak for 15 years. As I was composing for the new album I went through some old songs and this one popped up. The guys wanted instantly to work with it, so I finished the song and the rest is history. The lyrics bypass indirectly the state of the world, but it’s truly a story about darkness.”
Recorded by Teemu Heinola and Otto Salonen at Ansa Studio Ulvila, Finland. Mixed by Teemu Heinola Mastered at Finnvox Studios Helsinki by Mika Jussila.
Finnish stoner metallers ZOMBIE RODEO are back after six years. The band released a new single Mind Infestation which is taken from the upcoming EP The Eyes Are Set upon You. EP is released on April 29th 2022 via Inverse Records.
The band comments: “The song is a twisted tale, when one’s mind is consumed with thoughts, that should not normally be there.
This time the vocals took a much harsher turn and also the music has a lot more pronounced mid 90’s metal vibe, on top of the fuzzy delivery of earlier releases. The lyrics also reflect the music better this time.
After a lenghty search, no suitable replacement for Thomas Vee on vocals was found, so Miika decided to also take on the vocal duties on top of delivering commanding riffage. Otherwise the line-up remains unchanged this time.”
