‘At Night We Prey’ was released on March 5, 2021 and can be listened to in full HERE.
It has been seven long years since the world was last blessed with new music from the melodic blackened death metal stalwarts of NIGHTFALL. While the band has been absent from the scene since the release of 2013’s Cassiopeia, their legacy has not been forgotten. Comprising the holy trinity of Greek metal – along with ROTTING CHRIST and SEPTICFLESH – NIGHTFALL was the first extreme act in the country to sign an international deal, introducing the world to the burgeoning Mediterranean scene in the early 90s. Now, the band is plotting a triumphant return with At Night We Prey, the darkest and latest chapter of NIGHTFALL’s already storied career. Unlike past efforts, the band abandons any gothic aesthetic, traversing more into a melodic assault that calls to the sounds of Gothenburg, displaying an obvious maturation from the band that showcases their most serious, evolved, and tightest effort to date.
During the first decade of NIGHTFALL’s lifespan, the band headlined stages across Europe. Thereafter, went on to dominate international festivals such as Brutal Assault, Sonisphere, and Wacken, the latter of which the band solidified their legacy as the first ever Greek band to earn an envied spot at the renowned festival. The band eventually made the decision to switch to a studio act before they went completely silent. When reflecting upon the sudden disappearance after a steady rise from the underground, vocalist and founding member Efthimis Karadimas explained that it was due to an all too familiar beast – depression. “It’s because of depression that kicked in as early as mid-00s. I can write for hours and get into details about stuff gone wrong or mistreated situations, but the basis of all discouragement to move on has been depression and the effort required to get over it.” Despite the dark days, Karadimas did not abandon music entirely, moving on to form THE SLAYERKING, a gothic doom metal band that has released two agonizing full-length records between 2016-2019.
Alas, the abrupt departure of the band was not the final “goodbye” as NIGHTFALL has been reinvigorated with a new lineup and coveted deal with Season of Mist. Karadimas has reunited with original NIGHTFALL guitarist Mike Galiatsos, who helped define the band’s sound during the early years. With the addition of drummer and producer Fotis Benardo (ex-SEPTICFLESH) as well as guitarist Kostas Kyriakopoulos (THE SLAYERKING), the band is finally ready to release the tenth studio album At Night We Prey. In addition to the long-awaited new music, Season of Mist will also be re-issuing the band’s original albums that were produced by Holy Records back in the 90s. This is not the only news the band has to share as NIGHTFALL has also vowed to finally perform again. “We are gonna play these live, including stuff never played live before,” says Karadimas.
At Night We Prey is a very dark and personal effort, tackling the topic of Karadimas’s battle with depression. “A beast I have experienced its teeth deep into my soul, I decided to come out and share that experience with metalheads,” Karadimas laments. “This is the least I can offer now to the big fight against depression. If we do not stop this, it will eat us all alive. Share your pain, speak openly about it. This is the only way to kill the demons in your mind.”
Rockshots Records is proud to announce the signing of Italian heavy/power metal band LIONSOUL for the release of their new album “A Pledge To Darkness” this coming April 2022.
“A Pledge to Darkness” is the third album of the band, following the highly acclaimed “Welcome Storm” (Limb Music). The record is a huge step forward in the band’s career as it is more heterogeneous, in some ways darker than the previous ones. It brings with it nuances ranging from thrash to melodic death metal, including some death metal vocals in order to give more emphasis to certain passages. The album is a composition of different stylistic approaches that converge into the power/heavy roots that still remain at the basis of their sound.
The songs range from a classic power metal opener with spatial atmospheres up to a futuristic western ballad, from speed metal tracks – that wink at thrash and melodic death metal – to 80’s synthwaves tunes, from mid tempo hymns in Teutonic/industrial style to the almost omnipresent Cyberpunk themes. “A Pledge to Darkness” remains in all respects a power metal album but with some dosed contaminations.
“Imagine your planet at the end of its life and you have the burden to preserve the knowledge. So you take a spaceship for a trip to L.A. in 2049 meanwhile you pass through a portal between 1953 to 1986 and also you change your skin to save the human race from a virus.” comments the band.
“A Pledge to Darkness” is due out on April 29, 2022 and it’s already available for pre-order: https://bit.ly/LionSoul_CD

Sweden’s ÅSKVÄDER share the fourth and final single from their upcoming sophomore album “Fenix”.
“Zealot” is a punchy and direct track with a driving drum beat and electrifying melodies. The single is a true outburst of garage rock energy, recorded live in studio.
Martin from the band comments on the single:
“Zealot was a really tough one to record, definitely the song that took the most amount of takes to get right. The inspiration for writing the track came from listening to a podcast about the band Enforcer. To put it short, this track is Åskväder’s take on speed metal. The lyrics describe how life can change quickly for the little man depending on circumstances that are bigger than ourselves, and how we have to follow the rules of the system fanatically.“
Åskväder’s sophomore album “Fenix” will be released on The Sign Records on March 25. The single “Zealot” is out on all streaming platformsfrom February the 18th.
Weight of the World is the title song of the forthcoming album from Greek heavy rock group THE SAME RIVER. The album is set for release on May 13th, 2022 via Sliptrick Records and is already available to pre-order now from Shop Sliptrick at Dead Pulse …here
The band had this to say about the single; “The main reason is for the title is that the song amalgamate the vibes and the idea of this record in its entity. Lyrically inspired by Sisyphus, both the Greek myth and the homonym philosophical essay by Albert Camus. The absurd (finding meaning in life) is a fundamental human need. During the start of the pandemic in 2020 we found ourselves in a state of inertia and lack of will. Weight of the World was the firstborn child after the lockdown. A boulder we had to push even if we had to see it roll down again.”
As Camus says: “The struggle itself …is enough to fill a man’s heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy”.
Swedish metal band HELLBOUND have released a new video “King of Misery” with Håkan Hemlin on vocals.
King of Misery is a real groovy and sluggish metal song and is part of the band’s 10 year anniversary with two songs together with Håkan Hemlin. King of Misery is the band’s own song which is also the first taste of upcoming albums. Now the pre-order of the two songs is released as an exclusive super limiter 7 inch vinyl in gold color.
Hellbound guitarist Henrik Mikaelsson comments: “In the midsummer of 2021, Hellbound once again joined forces with Håkan Hemlin, legendary singer from the Swedish folk band ‘Nordman’ and recorded ‘King of Misery.’ Owe Lingvall (Dreamday Media, Nocturnal Rites) was hired for the video, and the location for the video shoot was at the famous ‘Rockbarn’ outside of Umeå that has hosted many local folk and country heroes over the years… Now we proudly present ‘King of Misery,’ which is the first song from our upcoming album. -Stay fuckin’ brutal and keep sluggin’
To celebrate their 10th anniversary, Swedish hard rock/metal band Hellbound dropped Och Regnet Föll double-single, featuring Håkan Hemlin of Nordman. The collaboration with Håkan Hemlin came naturally as there is a mutual admiration after Håkan took a liking to Hellbound at Discouraged Fest 2014. Now 8 years later, the Umeå-based band can proudly present two songs with Håkan on guest vocals. The title number honors the Nordman classic “Och Regnet Föll” and the other track, “King of Misery,” serves as the first taste of the upcoming Hellbound full length.
Arrived digitally on 10 December 2021, Och Regnet Föll will be released as an exclusive and very limited 7-inch vinyl later in 2022 via Discouraged Records. Both songs come with fiery music videos by Owe Lingvall of Dream Day Media, who is known for his work with Meshuggah, Sabaton, Nocturnal Rites, and more.
