Dutch progressive death metallers ANATOMY OF I have signed to Time To Kill Records for the release of “The Los(t) Angered Sessions”.
“The Los(t) Angered Sessions” is not the new ANATOMY OF I album, but the band’s first unreleased studio recording from 2005/2006.
Operating under the moniker of TERMINAL EYE, the band split up between two sessions at Andy Larocque‘s Los Angered Studios in August 2005 and January 2006, leaving guitarist and main composer Michael Dorrian to call in vocalist Rune Foss (RECLUSION) to the studio to finish the recording, which ended up being in vain due to time constraints; the two tracks Rune was able to finish appear on this release.
During the global covid pandemic, with some downtime on his hands, it seemed like the perfect moment for Dorrian to finish the album and have it mixed & mastered for an official release, to give fans a glimpse of an early raw version of ANATOMY OF I.
“The Los(t) Angered Sessions” is set to be released on February 23rd 2022. Today the band is premiering the lyric video of the album’s first single “Malice And Deceit”. Check it out HERE!

ANATOMY OF I is a progressive death metal band from the Netherlands. Mixing a wide array of influences ranging from 70’s jazz fusion to death metal into a mold of tech-thrash metal, ANATOMY OF I plays an experimental and avantgarde kind of music without losing focus and staying within straightforward songwriting.
The brainchild of vocalist/guitarist Michael Dorrian, the line-up is completed by Edwin van den Eeden (ex-SINISTER) on drums, Erwin Harreman (SUPREME PAIN) on rhythm guitar and Roderick Ras (HOUWITSER) on bass.
Since the release of its debut album “Substratum” in September 2011, the band has performed live throughout the Netherlands and abroad with the likes of CANNIBAL CORPSE, MASTER (US/CZ), DEW SCENTED (D, NL) and SADISTIK FOREST(SF), among others.
While looking forward to hitting the stage in 2022, the band is currently working on recording their sophomore release.
The debut album was recorded with Steve DiGiorgio (TESTAMENT, DEATH) on fretless bass and Dirk Verbeuren (MEGADETH, SCARVE) on drums.
Spikerot Records is stoked to announce the reissue of this timeless classic of Avantgarde Metal. 20 years after its recordings, SOLEFALD’s fourth album “IN HARMONIA UNIVERSALI” will be finally available on vinyl for the first time ever.
SOLEFALD are a wilful and truly unapologetical one-of-a-kind band, defying all known genre definitions with each release. “IN HARMONIA UNIVERSALI” is one of their most complex works to date, layered and eclectic, it stems from the band’s obsession with Progressive Rock, making its way through art, history and philosophy with lyrics touching five different languages. An unheard-of blend of Extreme Metal with bombastic passages, Gothic mystique, acoustic interludes, and the fearless use of instruments like saxophone, hammond and piano, make this album a crucial step in the band’s career.
«In Harmonia Universali» says Lazare «is one of the most ambitious albums we have created together. And more than anything it’s a statement of what happens when ambition meets possibility. The world has changed since its release, but ‘In Harmonia…’ still rises above convention and keeps on being itself.»
This long awaited release comes on double vinyl in two different color variants, housed in a deluxe gatefold sleeve with exclusive and extensive liner notes by Cornelius and Lazare, and including a 4-panel insert with lyrics.
The reissue of “In Harmonia Universali” will be coming out on April 8th via Spikerot Records and will be available in the following formats: – 100x LP “NUTRISCO” (Oxblood/White Aside/Bside)Hand-numbered, SPIKEROT EXCLUSIVE – 400x LP “EXTINGUO” (Black) Pre-order the album HERE
JOE SATRIANI is kicking off the new year with a brand-new album. Set for release on April 8, 2022, “The Elephants of Mars” marks the legendary guitarist’s 19th studio album in his 35+year career in music.
This album also marks the debut of his new label partnership with earMUSIC, the international rock label of entertainment group Edel.
Pre-orders are available now and include a special limited digi-pack CD release featuring seven double sided cards of original artwork by Satriani representing each song from the album. In addition, several coloured vinyl options will be available as well to pre-order including an orange, pink (D2C only) and purple version.
The first single, “Sahara” debuted yesterday with a video directed by ZZ Satriani.
Joe Satriani had an admirably productive workingman’s holiday, with pandemic forced time away from the road, that ultimately gave him and his touring band, all recording remotely in separate areas of the world during lockdown, the ability to deliver an album length journey that never dulls. “The Elephants of Mars” crackles with an exciting new energy, briskly traveling through stylistic roads that feel freshly updated, viewed through new eyes.
The guitarist challenged himself to create a “new standard” for instrumental guitar albums to be measured against, one which would work from “a new platform of his own design,” as he terms it. “I want to show people that an instrumental guitar album can contain far more creative and entertaining elements than I think people are using right now.”
From the gripping, sci-fi madness of “Through A Mother’s Day Darkly,” to the isolation felt in a decaying urban landscape, as depicted in first single “Sahara,” to the general endorphin levels that peak as the elephants finally roar in the title track, “The Elephants of Mars” will stampede across your mind, leaving a sonic imprint that doesn’t fade.
In 2020 with all time constraints removed, “The Elephants of Mars” truly represents the album that Satriani himself hoped he could deliver with his band. “We did everything. We tried the craziest ideas. And we entertained every notion we had about turning something backwards, upside down, seeing what could happen.”
With this new album Satriani joins the eclectic and exciting roster of earMUSIC. General Manager, Max Vaccaro remarked, “Some years ago, we were lucky to be the label chosen by Joe Satriani for the extremely fortunate Chickenfoot project. It was impossible not to notice and admire the dedication, the work ethic, and the monstrous talent in the recording studio and on stage. We knew, though, that he had the same “home” for his solo music for decades and that for him, being signed to a record company meant loyalty and belonging. “It is with great joy and sense of responsibility that now, some years later, we welcome Joe for his first solo work with earMUSIC. We thank him for having written and recorded very special music that will make a lot of fans happy, and we like to think this will be the first of many great albums to come.”

For over three decades, the guitar virtuoso has travelled the world, playing to sold-out crowds as both a headliner and as founder of the all-star “G3” guitar extravaganza. Satriani’s studio and live recordings have sold more than 10 million copies worldwide to date and of his many solo albums, two have gone platinum and four others went gold, with 15 Grammy nominations between them. His side project, Chickenfoot, featuring former Van Halen front man Sammy Hagar, former bassist Michael Anthony and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith saw their debut album certified gold and their second studio album debuted at #9.
Finnish Heinola-based metal band WHERE’S MY BIBLE released a new single and music video ‘Chapter I: Escape’. The track is taken from the upcoming EP Circle which is set to be released on May 13th 2022 via Inverse Records. There will be four tracks on EP and music video is done for each song.
Singer Jussi Matilainen comments: “When it comes to the storyline of EP and videos they are all connected to each other and it tells a multidimensional story about mental health problems, mainly focusing on depression. I love to use metaphors in lyrics so Circle is more diverse than you might imagine at the first hear. i believe listening/watching after times it opens up over and over again to the listener. Fun to see what kind of experiences people will have from Circle. “
Guitarist Pasi Löfgrén continues: “In new material the band have taken new direction to a more modern metal but still having our own sound. The new material will be definitely darker than earlier stuff, serving bigger sound elements including some brutal, melodic and some fast stuff. It will be bigger and heavier W.M.B than ever than before.”
Guitarist Toni Hinkkala concludes: “I’m not saying that the journey with this release has been easy but now at the time of the release I can proudly say that everything has been worth it…A step to the dark side can also bring something beautiful with it…”
After nearly a decade of silence, French underground black metal formation HELL MILITIA has returned with a brand new album, ‘Hollow Void!’ The record is set for release on March 18 via Season of Mist Underground Activists. The tracklist, album art, and additional info can be found below. The band is now sharing the vicious first single, “Dust of Time,” which can be heard at THIS LOCATION.
The band comments: “Ten years have passed since the release of ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ and the more things change, the more things stay the same. ‘Dust of Time’ is the first song to be presented and it is a diary of all events that took place in the years that have passed since. It is a summary of bitter days, unshakable religious faith, urban filth, decay, death worship and an extremely bitter aftertaste.”
The cover artwork was created by Manuel Tinnemans // Comaworx and can be found below, together with the tracklist.

Ten years have eclipsed since ‘Jacob’s Ladder’, HELL MILITIA’s last studio album. Black metal has wandered into unforeseen territory and simultaneously drifted back to its roots in that span, remaining entrenched as a polarizing but no less interesting force. Its increased visibility has become the carrot dangled in front of many bands seeking wider acceptance within the underground. But has also made it easier to identify the bands who, fundamentally, will forever uphold black metal’s venerable tenets of darkness and Satanism. Therefore, it is with little surprise that HELL MILITIA have risen to the occasion with their fourth long-player, ‘Hollow Void’.
HELL MILITIA’s absence can be explained through a mix of personal and intra-band turmoil. Line-up changes included members literally disappearing to the other side of the world. Vocalist RSDX went missing in action after his life took a dark turn. Side musical projects and new life endeavours eventually put the band on hold. But when HELL MILITIA (who are completed by guitarists Arkdaemon and Saroth, bassist S. and drummer Dave Terror) regrouped in 2018 for a few selected live shows, it helped lay the foundation for what would become ‘Hollow Void’.
As is now customary, the pandemic delayed the album’s recording. The band was rehearsing in Paris when global lockdowns began. And since some members of HELL MILITIA reside outside of France in Sweden and the Netherlands, it meant they had to wait out the first wave of the pandemic to start tracking later in 2020. HELL MILITIA eventually entered Studio Saint-Loup outside of Paris in the fall of 2020 to lay down drums. Additional instruments, vocals, and mix and mastering were conducted with producer/engineer BST at BST Studios through the summer and fall of 2021. According to RSDX, the tumult of recent years, the pandemic and real life’s comings-and-goings were perfect ammunition for ‘Hollow Void’’s creation.
“The whole recording process took longer than expected, but as life took its turn straight up until the vocal recordings, the timing was exactly what it needed to be,” he says “A lot of these experiences were included in the lyrics, giving an honest reflection of what was going on. Bitter days, unshakable religious faith, death, contempt for life, urban filth and an even more bitter aftertaste turned into the toxic cocktail we called ‘Hollow Void’. Still, the pent-up energy increased to a point it just had to explode. We put all that energy back into the album. Now that everything is recorded, we await the date we can unleash this on this world. We will keep the energy at this level until it’s time we can perform it.”
The resultant effort is perhaps HELL MILITIA’s most strident effort to date. The band’s orthodox, unrelenting approach is a broadside to the black metal scene at large. Dense chord swaths, a whirling barrage of blast-beats and RSDX’s nihilistic, scathing vocals coalesce into an album that exploits the true nature of black metal: Savage, unforgiving and grim.
“We wanted to make a much more aggressive approach this time,” confirms the vocalist. “A true-to-form, punch-in-the-face comeback album. We wanted to combine the dissonant riffs of ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ with the raw and filthy sound of our first album, ‘Canonisation of the Foul Spirit’ and include some new elements. I think we succeeded in this, as it is much more raw, aggressive, yet catchy and 100 percent recognizable as HELL MILITIA.”
The events of the last few years provided no shortage of lyrical topics for RSDX. The nihilistic, unforgiving concepts heard on the band’s previous full-lengths remain very much intact, albeit coming across far more prescient in a world on a fast-track toward its own demise. However, RSDX notes that his lyrics on ‘Hollow Void’ are a combination of him looking inward as well as outward toward a world that fills him with disgust.
“The lyrics are the universe of HELL MILITIA, and at times, also a diary of all events of the last couple of years,” he says. “It is a summary of bitter days, fanatic unshakable religious faith, urban filth, decay, death worship and an extremely bitter aftertaste. It has traditional Satanism and a contempt for life at its very core.”
Indeed contempt, Satanism and a total disregard for human life have been the primary thread of HELL MILITIA’s musical output since they emerged on the scene in 2001 via the ‘SPK Kommando – We Hope You DIE’ split alongside fellow French black metal holdovers Antaeus, Eternal Majesty and Deviant. The band’s lauded and influential ‘Canonisation of the Foul Spirit’ would follow four years later, establishing HELL MILITIA as one of the leading purveyors of the 2000s French black metal wave. 2010’s ‘Last Station on the Road to Death’ and 2012’s ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ followed, bringing them even closer to black metal’s true, raw spirit. As evidenced by ‘Hollow Void’, the last ten years have done little to HELL MILITIA’s approach.
“We are still the old, bitter radical individuals whose masks are off,” closes RSDX. “What the scene does is of no concern or interest to us. We are in contact with bands and individuals we respect. The rest of the world can keep their watered down, non-ideological form of black metal. Black metal to us means the same as it did when the band was founded: A vessel of strong expression in music and ideology with unshakable faith at its very core. If a band doesn’t have that, it’s not black metal. I may approach life differently now that I’m in my 40s than when I was in my 20s, but the attitude and radical stand on what black metal should be has not changed.”

TÝR deliver a stunning show performed live with the Symphony Orchestra of the Faroe Islands. This special event was recorded at The Nordic House in Tórshavn, the Faroes on February 8th, 2020. This seismic live album will be available on Metal Blade Records on 2 LP (gatefold, with insert, poster, digital download), a 2 CD/DVD digi-book set with 12-page booklet, and everywhere digital music is sold on March 18th, 2022.
“Working with the Symphony Orchestra was without a doubt one of the highlights of our careers,” admits vocalist Heri Joensen. “The feeling of sheer sophisticated power behind us was extraordinarily uplifting. We were awed by how well the songs worked in a symphonic setting. ‘By The Sword In My Hand’, for example, seems to take on a new life. It is based on a Nordic traditional melody, and the lyrics are about Sigmundur Brestisson, Faroese Viking chieftain who, on behalf of the king Olaf of Norway, forcibly Christianized the Faroes. We are very excited to finally release a live DVD, CD and LP, and even with the incredible new artwork by Gyula Havancsák, that excellently captures the epic atmosphere of the event. In other news, our team is working on tours, festivals and shows, so please stay tuned and patient. We hope to see you all soon!“
