“I wanted to write a song that felt the way I did when I first moved to Los Angeles at twenty,”Carla explains, “like my motorcycle boots hitting the Sunset Strip for the very first time. I had driven across the country with nothing but a paper map, no friends, no plan—just a dream. I figured I’d survive somehow, and every day was exactly that: survival. There were moments that nearly broke me, followed by the kind of euphoric highs that made it all worth it. That’s what Hell or Hollywood is: the chaos, illusion and grit in perfect juxtaposition. Wouldn’t leave it if you could…”
“Carla grew up loving Guns N’ Roses, and since they were so heavily influenced by Aerosmith, I wanted to write something that paid tribute to both,” added Anthrax’s Charlie Benante who wrote the project’s music and played all instruments on the EP. “The riff on ‘Hell or Hollywood’ is the kind that stands on its own — even without vocals, it’s got a swagger to it. And having Zakk Wylde on the solo? He brought this raw, six string grit that rips through the track. You hear it and instantly know—it’s him.”
ABOUT CARLA HARVEY: Not many people have comic book author, embalmer, and musician on their resumes. Carla Harvey boasts all three and so much more. Carla was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan—a city known for its grit, resilience, and often deep divides. Navigating life as a bi-racial kid in a fractured environment wasn’t easy, but Carla found her escape in art, music, and self-expression. By day, she hustled, attending the prestigious College for Creative Studies alongside working odd jobs like perfume counter girl and gas station attendant, and by night, she was on stage with local bands, saving every dollar she could for a one-way trip to Los Angeles.
At twenty, she put all her belongings in her car and navigated from Detroit to Hollywood with a paper map. In LA, she landed acting roles on shows like Rules of Engagement, played in bands searching for her sound, and never stopped creating. But beyond the music was a driven academic. Carla had a deep love for science and eventually pursued a Bachelor of Mortuary Science (graduating as valedictorian) and a Master of Science in Thanatology. Carla became a licensed funeral director and embalmer and founded her own grief counseling service – all while touring the world extensively as a founding member of The Butcher Babies.
Today, in addition to her music career, Carla is a Grief Specialist for the innovative death care company ‘Parting Stone,’ that transforms cremated remains into environmentally-friendly stones that the departed’s family can hold, treasure and honor.
Beyond her professional life, Carla is a devoted collector of pop culture oddities: comics, wrestling figures, vintage Barbies, Elvira, the Incredible Hulk, and rock relics from her wildest nights in Hollywood. She still holds onto her Rainbow Bar and Grill drink tickets from the ’90s and a poker chip from Lemmy’s last birthday party. Her creative heroes—Russ Meyers, Robert Williams, Robert Crumb & Charles Bukowski—mirror her love of the bold and the raw.
To date, Carla has released six albums, multiple comic books and a 2014 novel, “Death and Other Dances.” But if you ask her…she’s still just a blue-collar kid from the Midwest with big dreams.

Finnish hard rock trio Luponero return just in time for the season of sweat with the Summer Heat version of their tongue-in-cheek debut single DAD BOD ROK GOD — a riff-heavy, swagger-filled anthem celebrating the glorious chaos of middle-aged rock masculinity.
Since its original release, DAD BOD ROK GOD has racked up over 1 million views on TikTok and 100,000+ views on YouTube, making it a surprise underground hit and a loud-and-proud celebration of dad rock energy. Now, newly signed to Swedish indie label Icons Creating Evil Art, Luponero give the track a sun-soaked rework — amping up the heat, the humor, and the hooks.
Marco Luponero explains: – “The Summer Heat version of Dad Bod Rok God is a full-body celebration of backyard bravado, overcooked sausages, and rock’n’roll resilience. We took this already exquisite rock anthem, marinated it in an even bigger, juicier groove, slapped it on the grill, and let it sizzle until every succulent lick drips with grease, glory and a relentless sonic punch. ‘Dad bod’ isn’t a physique as much as it’s a state of mind. Everyone’s invited. Just pour yourself a cold one, crank up the speakers, and make sure your lawn is fireproof – because this summer, Luponero rules both the grill and the stage.”
The release follows a major year for Luponero, including the drop of their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album and a European tour that took their explosive live show across borders. That album, described by the band as a dive into “positive nihilism”, showcased Luponero’s unique sound — blending grunge, punk, classic rock, and synthwave into a wild, emotionally charged ride.
“We don’t care about fitting neatly into one category,” says Marco. “We care about saying something real, loud, and honest — and hopefully giving you something to scream along to while you do dishes or burn in the sun.”
With DAD BOD ROK GOD (Summer Heat Version), Luponero continue to push forward under their new moniker, fusing modern punk sensibility with vintage rock power — and doing it all with a grin that says: we’re not done yet.

Prog/metal-fusion wizards QUADVIUM teamed up with Romanian artist Costin Chioreanu for an animated music video for the song “Adhyasa”, lifted off the band’s recently released debut album on Agonia Records, “Tetradōm”. Boasting a celebrated line-up spearheaded by Steve Di Giorgio (Testament, Death) and Jeroen Paul Thesseling (Obscura, Pestilence), the group’s origin can be traced back to California (US) and The Netherlands.
Watch the video, here:
Steve Di Giorgio and Jeroen Paul Thesseling are both innovators in bringing a different style of fretless bass playing to metal. Launching a band with two predominantly multi-string fretless bass players is no common occurrence, and the bass-duo felt they needed to take very special and deliberate time to get the right alignment with who is participating and what will be the end result – meaning the right sound and composition to represent this rare vision.
Over time, together with Dutch master drummer Yuma van Eekelen (Our Oceans, Pestilence) and American guitar virtuoso/composer Eve (Myth Of I, Kaathe) – whose contribution and expertise play a huge part of QUADVIUM – the music began to take shape. The line-up is just the right blend to mix the delicate balance of such a heavy aural offering and a full vocabulary of high level constructed pieces.

“We had an intention many many years ago to make some music together… to feature two predominately multistring fretless bass players playing in duet form,” Steve & Jeroen reflect. “That is to say, neither being «rhythm bass & lead bass» nor some trading off hot solo licks mess. But easier said than done! While hanging out, we exchanged some thoughts about how it would be to form a group to support our bass-ic needs. At that time it was just a spontaneous idea, but over the years the topic was brought up again and again. This vision was blurry at best and it took us a long time to not only imagine how to feature the bass in this way, but more importantly – who would share in this concept with us. Yuma is an old acquaintance and lucky for us, he needed this project to add to his list of a thousand others! But having a drummer that understood that 2 bass players would be filling the sonic spectrum, he was undaunted in contributing the backbone as well as keeping our outlandish ideas in check. After a long search for the next musician, a gold mine was found on Instagram reels by the name of Eve. Some of the most insane guitar (and bass!) videos we ever saw inspired us to ask if this was a project worth joining… not only did we have our final member aboard, but a studio genius and the main composer of this strategy we had so long ago, who brought it all together and focused everything into the album we are so proud to share with you now. Thanks to the solid support from Agonia Records for supporting our dream and making this album a reality! Fans of instrumental progressive metal fusion – and fretless bass! – will surely enjoy these musical journeys.”
“Tetradōm” was recorded and produced by Eve and co-produced by Yuma van Eekelen. The album was mastered by Dereck Blackburn at Quiethouse Recording. Travis Smith (Amorphis, King Diamond, Cynic) created the album’s artwork and layout.
Sweden’s genre-smashing rock outfit Satan Takes A Holiday are back – this time with a curveball that hits hard. On June 13, the band unleashes You’re the One That I Want, a moody, riff-driven reinterpretation of the Grease classic that trades sugar-sweet duets for raw intensity and late-night desperation.
A staple of their live set over the past year, the track has quickly become a fan favorite. Now it’s getting a proper release as the first taste of their upcoming covers album Covering Our Tracks– their seventh full-length, due out later this year.
Lead vocalist Fred shares the unlikely origin of the cover:
“The song had been living in my head for several years in a version where I had drastically slowed it down to squeeze all the want and pain out of the lyrics and melody. It didn’t occur to me to present it as a potential cover to the band until someone jokingly suggested it when I hummed it during a soundcheck. It has been a part of our live set for about a year now and has quickly become a favorite part of the show for both us and the audience.”
TEASER video (Official music video released June 19th):
With their signature mix of 60s garage, 70s groove, punk urgency and a dark pop sensibility, Satan Takes A Holiday transform the iconic track into something completely their own – hypnotic, heavy, and undeniably addictive.
Known for bringing the house down with their electrifying performances, Satan Takes A Holiday have built a fierce reputation as one of Sweden’s best live acts. With support from BBC 6 Music (including Iggy Pop), Sweden’s P3 and Bandit Rock, and praise from outlets likeClassic Rock, Louder Sound, Ghost Cult Magazine, and Rock Hard, they continue to push boundaries and defy expectations.
You’re the One That I Want is not just a cover – it’s a statement: bold, unexpected, and impossible to ignore.
