Italian death metal entity SONUM are now streaming their upcoming new album, “The Obscure Light Awaits”, in full ahead of its release this Friday via Dusktone. The exclusive premiere is hosted by No Clean Singing, offering listeners an early chance to immerse themselves in the band’s haunting and atmospheric soundscapes. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience the album in its entirety before it officially drops.
Following the critical acclaim of their debut, “Visceral Void Entropy” (2022), SONUM delve deeper into the labyrinthine realms of dissonance and atmosphere. “The Obscure Light Awaits” is an ambitious work that simultaneously pushes boundaries and honours the roots of the genre. The album eschews unnecessary complexity in favour of a tight focus on songwriting, weaving together intricate, sibylline passages with a raw, unrelenting power that shows the influence of the pioneering works of old and contemporary death metal legends such as Gorguts, Morbid Angel, Execration and Artificial Brain.
A true testament to SONUM’s evolution, “The Obscure Light Awaits” presents a sonic journey defined by dark, otherworldly textures and relentless energy. The band’s ability to merge atmospheric depth with crushing riffs showcases their commitment to creating music that is both immersive and uncompromising. It’s an exploration of contrasts – between the abstract and the visceral, the chaotic and the structured.
Fans of progressive and atmospheric death metal will find “The Obscure Light Awaits” to be a landmark release that stands tall amidst this year’s most formidable works.

German dark heavy rock act WOLFSKULL has inked a label deal with Metalapolis Records (SPV) for the release of their much-awaited, yet-untitled new studio album to follow later this year.
The band writes: “The wait is over! We’re beyond excited to announce our new label home: Metalapolis Records. The team is solid as hell, and with SPV as an international distribution partner, the foundation for our next big step is set. Our upcoming album packs a serious punch and is bursting with raw energy – the heat is on, and WOLFSKULL are more than ready to ride!“
“We are delighted to officially welcome German dark heavy rockers WOLFSKULL to our label family,“ Eddy and Nico of Metalapolis Records state. “With their dark sound, which impressively balances heavy riffs, atmospheric density and infectious melodies, WOLFSKULL bring a powerful new energy to our roster.
WOLFSKULL stands for an uncompromising musical vision, a clear artistic identity. Their unique style combines the power of Heavy Rock with dark aesthetics and a modern production – exactly the kind of musical depth and authenticity that we stand for as a label.
We are absolutely convinced that WOLFSKULL are ready for the next step and look forward to the upcoming releases, tours and milestones together.”
Founded in April 2018 by guitarist and mastermind Feratu, the band immediately garnered attention in the scene with their debut EP, Hexum: “Tip Of The Month” in Rock Hard Magazine and “Heroes Of Tomorrow” in Metal Hammer Germany. The subsequent debut album, Ave Goddess, hit like a thunderclap in December 2022: the band was lauded as the “Album Of The Month” in Metal Hammer and Guitar Magazine, they also landed opening slots for Skid Row and an exclusive WDR Rockpalast TV gig as part of the Crossroads Festival series.
2025 sees WOLFSKULL return louder, detached, and with even more drive. With the arrival of new second guitarist Mike Nero at the beginning of 2024, a noticeable breath of fresh air came into the band, which was directly reflected in the new material. In September 2024, new tracks were recorded at Soundlodge Studio under the direction of Jörg Uken (Anvil, Suicide Angels, Dew Scented, Temple of Dread, among others). One can be sure: They will offer everything that defines true heavy rock: driving riffs, powerful hooks, captivating melodies, and a modern, uncompromising sound that hits home. WOLFSKULL are back – and they‘re hungrier than ever.
Stay tuned and watch out for more news and album details to be revealed in the weeks ahead!

Italian blackened metal punks STYGIAN have inked a deal with Time To Kill Records for the release of their upcoming debut album.
Hailing from Ravenna, the band delivers a searing hybrid of crust punk and extreme metal—tense, raw, and brutally honest, yet layered with dramatic melodic overtones. Their songs are short and punchy, but never rushed, allowing their ideas to unfold with deliberate intensity.
With this signing, STYGIAN are set to bring their visceral and reflective sound to a wider audience. Stay tuned for more details on the album!
The band’s upcoming debut explores the contrast between two spiritual worlds: the harmony-centered pagan traditions and the legacy of Abrahamic religions, which often channel humanity’s most violent instincts. While pagan rites served to express and contain primal forces, maintaining balance between humankind and nature, monotheistic dogmas have frequently justified war and destruction in the name of faith. This work stands as a tribute to life, to the sacred bond between people and the natural world—a bond shattered by centuries of religious conflict.
A powerful fusion of black metal and crust punk, the album is steeped in ritualistic intensity and ferocity, encouraging deep reflection on what has been lost in the struggle between spirituality and imposed doctrine.
Beloved SoCal ska punk heroes Buck-O-Nine are back with their first studio album in five years, and what a story it tells!
Preluded today by the band’s new single “Razorface,” Cut Out The Noise is loaded with the band’s signature infectious melodies, punchy horn lines, and lyrics that balance humor, social commentary, and personal storytelling.
Basically, it’s everything you love about Buck-O-Nine, turned up a notch!
Creating their masterpiece wasn’t easy, though, as frontman Jon Pebsworth explains.
“I really dragged the lake of my soul to find the feelings I was having and putting them into words. This one really got deep. We had some internal struggles, we had some technical problems, we were in a pandemic, we watched and felt social and political problems unfold and we struggled with our own identity as a band. And, in my case, my own internal struggles. I was in and out of depression, I had a massive heart attack that almost took my life and I moved back to San Diego after working in LA for close to 20 years. These songs are about all those experiences.”
It is close to 35 years since Buck-O-Nine emerged from San Diego to spearhead the ska punk hybrid that exploded across the western world in the early-mid 1990s. The band’s own contributions to that movement included the best-selling album Twenty Eight Teeth (1997) and the attendant hit single “My Town.”
Back then, however, the band worked according to the grinding wheels of the period industry. Now, Jon continues, “There is a freedom I feel like we have from not having the pressure of being a full-time band. There are no rules, no timelines, no real expectations from anyone that allows us to just do whatever feels good.”
This freedom included the opportunity to perfect a whole new method of working.
Written not in the same room together as we have always done was a new experience,” says horns wizard Dan Albert, “but it captured what I believe is a unique sound that still keeps our roots intact.”
Guitarist Jonas Kleiner continues, “Each of us brought our best ideas and performances into the sessions. This album made us stronger than ever as brothers in music and the result musically is our most beautiful and ferocious album to date.”
More than that, however, Cut Out The Noise reveals that there is still a vast audience for Buck-O-Nine’s compulsive, impulsive sound. A wild party that makes you think as hard as you dance, Cut Out The Noise is set to become one of the most exciting albums of 2025.
