30 years after it all started, Hammerheart Records has announced the reissue of the legendary 1995 Tumulus demo Hymns and Dirges for the first time on vinyl. The re-issue is set for release on 9th May via the label.

Germany’s Tumulus deliver raw, atmospheric pagan black metal on their 1995 demo Hymns and Dirges which blends slow, doom-laden riffs with primitive viking melodies, dark acoustic passages and a grim mix of clean vocals, growls, and chants. Steeped in Germanic mysticism and asatru ritual, this is bleak, unpolished, and hauntingly effective.

Hymns and Dirges can be pre-ordered here: https://tumulus.lnk.to/hymnsanddirges

Track-list:
1. Intro
2. Smoke of My Sacrifice
3. Dying Enemies
4. A Viking’s Last Journey
5. Wodans Jagd
6. Outro

Australian progressive metal giants TERAMAZE return with their highly anticipated new album, The Harmony Machine, set for release on April 18, 2025. Following Eli: A Wonderful Fall From Grace, this record delivers the band’s heaviest, most hard-hitting material to date, packed with crushing riffs, massive hooks, and relentless energy.

A new world has risen, the morphing of humans with technology knows no limits, and will continue until there is no way to tell where we begin and technology ends.
TERAMAZE explore the possibilities of a dystopian existence and more in this brand new double album ‘The Harmony Machine’.

With hard hitting singles, massive riffs and choruses along side thought provoking lyrics. ‘The Harmony Machine’ stands tall along side the rest of the TERAMAZE collection taking us into uncharted territory, reminding us that this band has no limitations to their styles and tastes.
Continuing to prove that they are the true line in the sand for what makes a band “progressive”.

MÜTTERLEIN Reveal Details of Upcoming Album “Amidst the Flames, May Our Organs Resound”, First Single ‘Concrete Black’ Out Now

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 12, 2025
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: MÜTTERLEIN. Leave a comment

MÜTTERLEIN, the solo-project of composer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist Marion Leclercq (ex-OVERMARS), proudly presents the highly anticipated successor to 2021’s acclaimed “Bring Down The Flags“. The evocatively titled “Amidst the Flames, May Our Organs Resound“, opens new dimensions where harrowing vocals, disconcerting post-Metal guitars and gloom-ridden synth meet the pounding kick of basement techno and hammering tom-heavy drum patterns.

Tracklist:

01. Anarcha
02. Concrete Black
03. Wounded Grace
04. Memorial One
05. Division of Pain
06. Ivory Claws
07. Memorial Two

All music is written and performed by MÜTTERLEIN, except ‘Memorial One‘ and ‘Memorial Two‘ crafted in cooperation with TREHA SEKTORI. The album was recorded at Diskar Loar in 2024, and mixed and mastered by Tim De Gieter (AMENRA, THROANE) at Much Luv Studio.

Artwork & layout designed by Dehn Sora (THROANE).

Tense and fraught with emotional resonance, “Amidst the Flames, May Our Organs Resound” lyrically explores the deep and haunting scars etched by oppression across history. Through seven meticulously crafted compositions the album weaves abrasive, darkly cinematic and profoundly haunting Industrial soundscapes.

In the words of MÜTTERLEIN:

““Amidst the Flames, May Our Organs Resound” is a musical tribute, a memorial work that explores the deep wounds left by oppression throughout history. This album is an ode to all those who have suffered in silence, especially women, whose bodies have been instrumentalised and sacrificed, like Anarcha Westcott, a tragic and emblematic figure in the history of modern gynaecology.

My music is drawn to the silent world – those stories, lives, and sufferings that history ignores or erases. Anarcha Westcott was one of many victims of the oppression and slavery that built the foundations of Western progress. Her story is not an exception but a reflection of a larger system that thrives on the suffering of the most vulnerable. And too often, women bear the deepest scars. Especially now, when the world seems to be slipping back into obscurantism and violence, it feels almost absurd to talk about these things. It’s as if we’re stuck in a loop, questioning whether we’ve ever really moved forward at all. When personal pain meets collective history, the weight of silence is suffocating. I don’t pretend that music can change anything. But sometimes, making noise feels like the only thing left to do.“

The album’s first single, ‘Concrete Black‘, serves as a powerfully dark introduction, seamlessly blending haunting melodies with relentless intensity. MÜTTERLEIN‘s infernal screams pierce through layers of industrial decay and ritualistic dread, leaving an eerie and indelible impression.

Listen via Bandcamp and via DMP‘s YouTube channel:

MÜTTERLEIN describes ‘Concrete Black‘:

“‘Concrete Black‘ is the first song I am sharing because it embodies the feeling that runs through the album. The lyrics express a sense of ongoing struggle: despite creating, despite trying to make sense of things, there’s this constant feeling of estrangement with the world around me. We seem to disappoint each other endlessly. The image of being ‘hollowed in concrete black’ reflects a sense of being trapped in this disconnect, unable to escape it, while the world burns on. It’s not the first track on the album, but I thought it was important to release it first because it captures the essence of the album – a confrontation with a world that feels distant and chaotic. May our organs resound amidst this tension, reminding us of the humanity we share in the face of it all.“

Follow MÜTTERLEIN on Facebook and Instagram!

“Amidst the Flames, May Our Organs Resound” will be released on CD, vinyl (including an exclusive DMP vinyl variant) and digital on May 9th. A special t-shirt design will accompany the launch. Pre-orders are possible via DMP’s EU, US, and Bandcamp shops.

MÜTTERLEIN is the solo project of Marion Leclercq (ex-OVERMARS), composer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist.

Adopted in 2014, this pseudonym is a nod to the nightmarish yet fragile work of NICO, who in many ways deconstructed the unbearable myth of ‘femininity’ imposed on us.

Musically, MÜTTERLEIN mixes Post-Punk savagery, Doom, Noise, Industrial and Black Metal to create a vast universe of Post-Metal experimentation.

First album, “Orphans Of The Black Sun” – released in 2016 on Sundust Records, a label co-run by Vindsval from BLUT AUS NORD – leaned towards the Post-Punk and Doom registers using minimalist, cold instrumentation to create a record organic and ritualistic as a witch-dance around a fire.

In 2020, MÜTTERLEIN responded to an invitation by the artist LIMBES (ex-BLURR THROWER) to create a mirror piece to his epic 25 minute track entitled “Vérité” (French for Truth) for a split release issued in 2021 by LADLO. The free format allowed MÜTTERLEIN to experiment even further, constructing a slow, desolate dreamscape of doom-laden Dark Ambient.

“Bring Down The Flags“, MÜTTERLEIN‘s second album, was released in late 2021 by Debemur Morti Productions. Dark, haunting and immediate, the album incorporated more electronic sounds and blackened Industrial atmospheres to serve a more direct subject and voice.

After a couple of years performing both solo and alongside TREHA SEKTORI following the release of “Bring Down The Flags“, Marion helped forge a new entity, EITRIN, in collaboration with Dehn Sora (THROANE, TREHA SEKTORI) and Vindsval (BLUT AUS NORD). The alliance was conceived to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Debemur Morti Productions, with an instinctive and impassioned self-titled debut album released in December 2023. As a crowning moment, both MÜTTERLEIN and EITRIN graced the stage at the label’s own Servants of Chaos festival in October 2024.

In early 2025, MÜTTERLEIN unveiled plans for a third album, “Amidst the Flames, May Our Organs Resound“, a work that delves into the profound scars left by oppression throughout history. Anchored by an abrasive and darkly cinematic industrial soundscape, “Amidst the Flames…” is set to be released on May 9th.

RIVERS OF NIHIL Release New Video / Single ‘American Death’

“American Death” is the latest single from progressive death metal progenitors RIVERS OF NIHIL. The ferocious new track — a true-to-form beater that’s sure to slay live — comes by way of the band’s eponymous fifth full-length, set for release on May 30th via Metal Blade Records.

Comments founding guitarist Brody Uttley. “‘American Death’ is a title that we’ve been throwing around and printing on our T-shirts since 2013. We figured it was finally time to write a song with that title, and given the subject matter of the lyrics, it would only make sense for this song to be a true ass beater. It’s definitely the most true form ‘heavy’ song of these singles, so we are very much looking forward to playing it live.”

Watch RIVERS OF NIHIL‘s previously released video for “House Of Light” HERE.

Sixteen years and five albums into the Pennsylvania band’s career, RIVERS OF NIHIL is upping the ante with Rivers Of Nihil. Traditionally, a self-titled record can signal a return to basics and/or a fresh beginning, and in ten powerful songs, it’s clear that both those factors are in play. Founding bassist Adam Biggs became the band’s new lead vocalist/bassist in 2023; the same year marked the appearance of additional guitarist Andy Thomas (ex-Black Crown Initiate), whose vocals also play prominently on Rivers Of Nihil. Producers Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland at Atrium Audio captured the new dynamics across more than fifty minutes of music.

On June 15th, 2023, the band released the single, “The Sub-Orbital Blues,” the first track with Biggs handling lead vocals following the 2022 departure of singer Jake Dieffenbach. It was also the first track to feature Thomas. A second single, “Hellbirds,” dropped on October 19th of that year. On April 29th, 2024, the band released the cut “Criminals” and an accompanying music video. Both “Criminals” and “The Sub-Orbital Blues” appear on Rivers Of Nihil.

Rivers Of Nihil was created in a very “rock n’ roll” manner. “On 2021’s The Work, I wrote a lot of the record on the piano and then the band filled in the gaps,” explains Uttley. “On this new record, I wanted to make sure that this stuff would hit hard live with just the four of us before adding in all of the sparkly auxiliary ‘frosting’ on top.”

Rivers Of Nihil also showcases additional musicians, including Patrick Corona on alto saxophone, Stephan Lopez on banjo, McFarland on cello, and a slate of other guest vocalists. Despite the fresh approach on Rivers Of Nihil however, the album still fits neatly into the band’s discography. With Where Owls Know My Name (2018), RIVERS OF NIHIL transcended all labels applied to them, and with its 2021 follow-up, The Work, they forged further into new territory with Metal Injection calling the latter album “the group’s most cohesive, ambitious, meditative, and varied effort, with greater uses of philosophical significance and transcendental respites.”

Writes Revolver in an early preview of the record, “…their forthcoming self-titled album… specializes in metronome-exploding kick work, riffs brawnier than a full-grown Kodiak, and a vocal tandem of soaring highs (guitarist Andy Thomas) and demonic lows (bassist Adam Biggs).“

Finnish metal band Gothony released Demo 1995 on streaming services via Inverse Records.

30 years ago Gothony’s first demo saw the light of day. The demo was recorded and mixed by Hiili Hiilesmaa at MD Studios in Munkkiniemi, Helsinki in early 1995. An edition of 200 cassettes was made. Sales started in the summer of 1995. Now the time has come to re-release this three track demo on streaming services.

Rare video footage also available on the full EP release on Youtube:

Track list:
1.Unknown World of My Dreams
2.Woods of Winter
3.Wasted Life

BIOGRAPHY:
Gothony was founded in 1993 with the line-up :
M.Toivonen: drums & vocals
Mika Uusitalo: guitar & vocals
Miika Peräkangas: guitar
Väiski Syväoja: bass

This line-up released two demos in the 90s in 1995 (Gothony) and 1997 (Hidden thoughts). Gigs mostly in the capital region, e.g. Oranssi klubi, Semifinal and at the legendary Thunder Road House. In 1998, M.Toivonen , who handled the vocals, gave the vocal responsibilities to Sami Viitamäki.

Sami Viitamäki’s time was Gothony’s golden age, and many compare this to the Beatles ’65 & ’66, when Rubber Soul and Revolver innovated not only the band’s sound but the entire pop music genre as well. The golden age was short, but rewarding and Gothony played a few gigs with Sami before the break up that happened in 1999. There was no drama in the breakup, but everyone went on different paths in life.

In 2019, it was decided to reassemble Gothony to revive the past and play old songs. Wuohi, who in the 90s did vocals in Bleed me tears and Katharsis joined Gothony.

In 2020, Gothony went to Tuska-Torstai and Emergenza to get a feel for live show’s. After the gigs, a decision was made to start working on new songs and continue Gothony’s story.

The first official Gothony single Patient 2442 was completed in April 2023 and released with a music video by Kimmo Jaatinen (direction, cinematography, screenplay, editing). The second single In the Shadow of the Moon was released in July 2023.

Gothony’s first official full-length album released on January 12, 2024.

Now in 2025, Gothony is working on new songs and the new material is scheduled for late 2025 release. Before releasing new material, it’s time to bring Gothony’s first demo to streaming services. This will take place in March 2025.

Line-up:
M.Toivonen (Drums,vocals)
Mika Uusitalo (Guitar, vocals)
Miika Peräkangas (Guitar)

GINEVRA Unveil New Video ‘Lightning Roses’ from Upcoming Album

Swedish supergroup GINEVRA – comprised of vocalist Kristian Fyhr (Seventh Crystal), guitarist Magnus Karlsson (The Ferrymen, Primal Fear), bassist Jimmy Jay (H.E.A.T.), and drummer Magnus Ulfstedt (ex-Eclipse, Nordic Union) – are pleased to unveil their new single and visualizer video “Lightning Roses”, taken from their upcoming studio album, “Beyond Tomorrow”, set for release on March 28th, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl.

Pre-order “Beyond Tomorrow” HERE

Lead singer Kristian Fyhr says: “The whole album covers a higher cause without being biblical or political. We are all meant to bring the best of what we have into daily situations and life. We have approximately eighty years to leave a mark here on Earth, so we better make it count.”

“Beyond Tomorrow” is Ginevra sophomore album, which comes less than 3 years after the exciting debut album “We Belong to the Stars”. Ginevra is a real funnel of talents comprised of vocalist Kristian Fyhr (Seventh Crystal), guitarist Magnus Karlsson (The Ferrymen, Primal Fear), bassist Jimmy Jay (H.E.A.T.), and drummer Magnus Ulfstedt (ex-Eclipse, Nordic Union).

The group came to be after Kristian Fyhr sent Serafino Perugino, the label’s President, some songs he had written for consideration to be used on future Frontiers’ label projects. One particular song, “My Rock N’ Roll” jumped out at Perugino and he asked Fyhr if he would be interested in fronting a new band that would craft an entire album in a musical direction illustrated in that song, which was substantially different from Fyhr’s main band Seventh Crystal.

The final results brought Ginevra’s sound under the same big umbrella of excellent Nordic melodic hard rock like H.E.A.T, Eclipse, Crowne, without necessarily sounding like those bands. Ginevra is hooky and melodic, but mostly heavier and more guitar/riff oriented than traditional melodic rock.

Perugino thought that Magnus Karlsson, who contributed to the songwriting for the album as well, seemed the perfect fit to play guitar for Ginevra and when approached about participating, he was keen on the idea.

With a powerful vocalist like Fyhr and a monster guitarist like Magnus Karlsson, whose resume speaks for itself, a top notch rhythm section needed to join the fold. Jona Tee, musician and producer for New Horizon, Crowne, and Temple Balls, recommended his H.E.A.T. bandmate Jimmy Jay for the bass position and he was the perfect fit.

For the drum stool, Magnus Ulfstedt, who has played with Eclipse, Nordic Union, and Jimi Jamison, was asked to join the band and complete this excellent Swedish foursome.

The pairing of Fhyr’s vocal and songwriting talents with Karlsson’s stunning guitar playing and songwriting has birthed something truly special and melodic hard rock fans can look forward to yet another gem from the ever fruitful Swedish hard rock scene.

Once again Fyhr took the lead in the songwriting department and worked on songs which are hooky and melodic but also fast, heavy, and driven by powerful hard rock groove (and some power metal gusto). His reach is enormous, his diversity is wide and he just fires on all cylinders on this album.

Magnus Karlsson also collaborated on the songwriting and his playing needs to description or introduction. It is not a case that he is considered one of the top musicians in his area of expertise.

The final result is another superb Melodic Metal album akin to other excellent Nordic melodic hard rock like Pretty Maids or Crowne, and the like, but without necessarily sounding like those bands.

“Beyond Tomorrow” Tracklist:

1.    Moonlight
2.    Lightning Roses
3.    True North
4.    Let Freedom Ring
5.    Echoes Of The Lonely
