VERHEERER Drop New Video ‘Hail Mary’ from Upcoming Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 11, 2025

German black metallers VERHEERER have unleashed another intense taste of the band’s upcoming third studio album, entitled “Urgewalt”, scheduled to be released on April 4th via Vendetta Records. Following the release of the first single “Totenvolk”, the northern German four-piece follows up today with a music video for “Hail Mary”, which you can watch below.

VERHEERER comments: “‘Hail Mary’ is a term used for a last ditch effort with little to no chance of success. Quite fitting for a song about those who died like cattle for some bastard who will never even know their name. To calm the gnawing voice of the dead, we put medals on their remains and call them heroes…“

Since unleashing their debut EP ‘Archar’ in 2015, VERHEERER has become a staple name in the German metal underground. Their sound, somewhere between black, heavy, and death metal, resembles the storms of their homeland on the northern german coast: primarily cold and tempestuous, but sometimes also threateningly slow and thus even more destructive.

The four-piece eschews common clichés, instead exploring the depths of the human condition with unflinching honesty. Always somewhat removed from our tangible world, they set to music the doubts, suffering and dark emotions that have accompanied mankind since the beginning of history. And what theme runs as a common thread through all the centuries, if not the absolute will to destroy – to the point of self-destruction? The new album was composed and written with this basic idea in mind and with the First World War, which revealed a new level of cruelty and dehumanization and at the same time shaped our world like no other conflict to this day, the canvas was also found on which VERHEERER paint their very own pictures. Of the loss of humanity in an industrial machine of destruction, seduction and the mechanisms of power that make the incomprehensible possible in the first place.

‘Urgewalt’ drops on April 4th via Vendetta Records. Pre-orders are live now, with options for CD, LP, T-shirts, and a bundle with a patch. Available via the band’s BANDCAMP or directly through VENDETTA RECORDS.

WIND DOWN Sign with Wormholedeath for Release of “The Burning Past” Album

Polish progressive metal quintet WIND DOWN has inked a licensing deal with Wormholedeath Records for their highly anticipated album, The Burning Past, slated for release on April 18, 2025.

Formed in 2021 by Damian “Blady” Jurek and Wojciech “Świerszcz” Wojtyczek, founding members of Thetragon, Wind Down quickly grew into a formidable unit with the additions of Kuba Czubik, Władysław Zawojski, and Marcin Borula. The band’s journey began with the release of their debut EP, Uśpieni Ludzie (Euthanised People), which garnered widespread praise, thanks to its title track and accompanying music video.

Building on the momentum, Wind Down toured extensively, sharing stages with international metal heavyweights like Necronomicon (Germany), Stonecast (France), and 3000AD (New Zealand), alongside prominent Polish acts such as Iscariota, Styxx, and Subterfuge.

In 2023, the lineup evolved, bringing in Franciszek Trybus and Tomasz Wiśniewski (formerly of Thetragon and Kruk) to solidify their sound. By April 2024, the band began recording their debut full-length album at Hertz Studio, with the final touches—mixing and mastering—handled by Ergosphere Studios.

More than just an album, The Burning Past is a profound concept piece inspired by Native American Indian culture, shamanic rituals, and the cosmic connection between human souls and extraterrestrial energy. The record is a transformative journey that blends introspection with a broader, spiritual narrative, delivered through intricate melodies and evocative lyrics.

Wind Down’s approach is steeped in authenticity, drawing inspiration from luminaries like Nevermore, Alter Bridge, and Dream Theater while carving out a unique identity in the Progressive Groove Metal genre. The album’s fusion of technical precision, melodic harmonies, and thunderous riffs creates a sound that is as innovative as it is powerful.

Wind Down’s dynamic live performances continue to captivate audiences, including notable appearances alongside Slovak band Gloom and at events such as the Wrath of Gods Vol. 5 Mini Fest (2023) and the Rock Pod Kameňom festival in Slovakia (2024), where they shared the stage with acts like Trauma, Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons, HammerFall, and Eleine.

With the release of The Burning Past, Wind Down is set to solidify its reputation as a fresh and groundbreaking force in the progressive metal scene.

FREE MACHINE Unveil Powerful New Single And Lyric Video ‘Black Seasons’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 11, 2025

Independent grunge-rock collective FREE MACHINE release their latest single and accompanying lyric video ‘Black Seasons’, offering listeners a deeply emotional and sonically rich experience. Born from a shared love of ‘90s alternative rock, the band’s newest track serves as both an homage to their influences and a poignant reflection on personal loss.

Free Machine is more than just a band—it’s a passion project crafted by four ex-musicians who left the gig and tour scene behind but never lost their love for creating music. Drawing inspiration from legends like Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam, the band members—Glenn Bradford (vocals, mixing), Clint Jurgens (guitar), Bryan Nicol (drums), and Brendan Haupt (bass)—collaborated remotely to craft their debut EP, proving that distance is no barrier when the vision is clear.

Musically, the new single Black Seasons is “somewhat of the inspired lovechild of Black Hole Sun and Chris Cornell’s solo hit Seasons,” according to the band. The lyrics were influenced by a powerful scene from the film Wind River, where a grieving Native American father learns to cope with the devastating loss of his daughter.

“The song is about the loss of someone very close and the pain we all go through when we experience such an event,” says Free Machine. “But the message is meant to be about how you will hurt, yet keep those memories close, and eventually, you will be able to revisit them with a smile.”

For Free Machine, songwriting begins with the music. “Once I had that intro, it immediately spawned the epic and moody feel that the rest of the song just had to follow,” explains guitarist Clint Jurgens. “The chorus was pretty much served up to me on a platter at that point. The bridge was an exciting challenge—breaking from what had been a steady emotional build, we wanted it to reflect the struggle of letting go, pushing toward the final send-off.”

Unlike most bands launching an album, Free Machine is taking a different approach. “There is no ‘bigger picture’ here,” they say. “No marketing pushes, no endless promo runs, no events or concerts. This is simply about making good music and sharing it with like-minded rock fans.”

PRIDIAN Release New Single ‘Diny’ + Unveil Details of Upcoming Album “Venetian Dark”

Estonia’s metalcore force PRIDIAN are unveiling details for their upcoming album “Venetian Dark” alongside their newest single “DINY”. Their record, which will mark the band’s debut album, is set to be released May 16th, 2025, via Century Media Records and follows Pridian’s 2023 debut EP “Cybergnosis”. With the release of “Venetian Dark”, Pridian show not just their own potential in the international metalcore scene but also why Estonia’s growing metal scene deserves more light in the future. “Venetian Dark” is now available for pre-order.

Listen to the single at https://pridian.lnk.to/DINY-SingleNe

Vocalist Laur Lindmäe shares about the inspiration for “Venetian Dark”:

„Looking at it on a larger scale, I believe that humanity has lost its connection with nature, the planet, and even itself. We relentlessly exploit every last resource, driven by profit and greed. Our ideologies have grown superficial, and we are becoming less and less empathetic. Even if we end up destroying the Earth, we seem to have this cockroach-like ability to survive. We’ll likely figure out how to launch ourselves into space, discover another planet to inhabit, and start the cycle all over again.”

The band shares the backstory about “DINY”:

“I drove fast. Faster than I should have really. The night pressed in on me, cold and endless, the road disappearing into the blackness ahead. The air outside was freezing, but it couldn’t match the cold that had settled inside me. My thoughts circled around her, over and over. Every streetlight I passed threw her silhouette onto the road, and for a moment, I thought I saw her standing there, waiting for me. My foot pressed harder on the gas, wondering what it would feel like to just keep going— to let everything go. The emptiness inside was worse than the road ahead, and I wasn’t sure if I was trying to outrun it or dive straight into it. She was gone, but not gone enough. And no matter how fast I went, I knew I’d never escape her.”
