The band states, “‘Back Through the Door’ is about letting someone hit bottom. It encapsulates the crippling feelings of waiting and hoping for someone to return, but ultimately, they’re gone. Finally, letting go.” The accompanying music video powerfully captures these emotions, portraying the deep feelings of being left behind after fighting for a relationship.

JUDICATOR Unveil Second Single + Video ‘A Miracle of Life’ from Forthcoming 7th Studio Album

American Power Metallers Judicator have unveiled a second glimpse of their forthcoming 7th studio album Concord, in the form of the single “A Miracle of Life.”

“This song is about the quiet trade-offs we make in the name of safety and comfort – until we wake up one day wondering where our freedom went,” says Judicator vocalist John Yelland. “It’s a call to reclaim a spirit of defiance, to protect the things that make life unpredictable, painful, beautiful, and ultimately worth living.”

“A Miracle of Life” follows in the path of “Concord” – the album’s first single and music video, which was hailed upon its February 7 release as “representing Judicator in top form” (Music Existence) and “absolutely killer” (Power Metal Ranger).

This newly-released song is now available to stream and download, and the music video, directed by Kade Riding, can be viewed here:

Concord will be released worldwide on March 28, just one week prior to the band’s debut performance in Europe, at Epic Fest. “I can’t think of a more special way to celebrate our new album,” says guitarist Chad Anderson. “Performing in Europe has been a personal goal of ours since we first became musicians. We think that Epic Fest embodies the future of metal festivals, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it.”

Produced by Carlos Alvarez and Yelland, Anderson, Lofgreen, and clocking in at over 50 minutes, the 8-track Concord is Judicator’s first full-length album since 2022’s The Majesty of Decay.

To pre-order the new album, click HERE – or on Spotify HERE.

Judicator is one of modern power metal’s most dynamic, up-and-coming bands. Since their formation in 2012, the band has become well known for their intricate character studies about historical figures like Napoleon Bonaparte and Frederick the Great, as well as personal explorations of life and loss. Their new album Concord explores ideas and themes centered around the American West.

Concord is an epic exploration of American identity, blending historical events, folklore, and themes of cultural disconnection. With powerful storytelling that navigates both awe and tragedy of the American West, the album confronts the complexities of survival, power, and loss, offering a deeply resonant and thought-provoking journey through the nation’s fractured heritage.

Over seven albums now, Judicator have continually expanded their musical horizons. Their album The Last Emperor featured a guest appearance by Blind Guardian’s Hansi Kürsch, and in 2024, they had the surreal opportunity to open for Blind Guardian in Salt Lake City on their God Machine North American tour. From their humble beginnings to global recognition, Judicator continually demonstrates why they are indisputably one of power metal’s most innovative acts.

Concord track listing:

Call Us Out of Slumber (6:44)
Sawtooth (4:58)
Johannah’s Song (5:17)
A Miracle of Life (5:19)
Weeping Willow (4:22)
Imperial (5:14)
Hold Your Smile (6:30)
Concord (5:02)
Blood Meridian (8:14)

LEVERAGE Release New Single And Visualizer ‘All Seeing Eye’

Leverage are pleased to share their new single and official visualizer video, “All Seeing Eye”, out now via Frontiers Music Srl.

Listen to “All Seeing Eye” HERE

Guitarist Tuomas Heikkinen described the new single: “All Seeing Eye is the type of a heavy riffing song that I have been waiting to be able to write for ages. Or rather to have a singer capable of singing something like that. It is very much a bow to the classic heavy rock/metal I grew up with, but there’s naturally some Leverage twist in there, too”.

Following the untimely passing of singer’s Kimmo Blom in August 2022, Leverage’s future seemed uncertain. However, after some months of hiatus, founding member and main songwriter Tuomas Heikkinen, decided it was time to give the band another shot of life. The result of this process of rebuilding saw the outstanding singer Paolo Ribaldini (Delain) and violinist Lotta-Maria Heiskanen joining the band with the precise task to renew and refresh the sound of the band.

The resulting album “Gravity”, which is the band’s sixth full-length album in slightly less than 20 years, aptly showcases contemporary heavy rock sound, which makes influence from the golden past while still offering their own unique personality. Plenty of ear-catching melodies delivered skillfully with pristine production on the band’s latest album.

Finland’s Leverage are not a power metal band, nor an AOR band, and definitely not a tribute to the ’80s band. Leverage doesn’t easily fall into a genre category because for the band, it’s all about making and playing music with heart and soul and having a blast doing it. Leverage thus have developed their own style of making heavy rock and that is their mission. The sonic stamp says Leverage. No more needed.

Leverage first landed on the scene in 2006 with the independent release of their debut album, “Tides”. With their blend of symphonic metal and melodic hard rock, with some progressive metal twists, they created a buzz on the scene and were signed by Frontiers for the release of their second album, “Blind Fire” in 2008, before moving to Universal/Spinefarm for their next album, “Circus Colossus” (2009).

The band became inactive not too long after the release of that third album though, sadly leaving fans craving more music from the band. In 2018, Leverage returned with a new lineup featuring singer Kimmo Blom (ex-Urban Tale, Raskasta Joulua) and guitarist Mikko Salovaara.

They first released an EP, “The Devil’s Turn” and then a full-length, “Determinus”. The band showcased that they are still able to cover a pretty wide ground musically. Again, not power metal, not AOR, not thrash. Just great heavy rock with stunning melodies.

The band is now composed by longtime members Tuomas Heikkinen (guitars), Marko Niskala (keyboards), Valtteri Revonkorpi (drums), Sami Norrbacka (bass) along with Paolo Ribaldini (vocals) and Lotta-Maria Heiskanen (violin). Watch out for the band playing in a town near you!

Line Up:
Paolo Ribaldini – all vocals
Tuomas Heikkinen – guitars
Marko Niskala – keyboards
Valtteri Revonkorpi – drums
Sami Norrbacka – bass
Lotta-Maria Heiskanen – violin

Impurity are dragging Swedish death metal back to its raw, chainsaw snarled roots with their freshly released debut album The Eternal Sleep, which is out today via Hammerheart Records. The new offering is recorded by Tomas Skogsberg at Sunlight Studio and mastered by death metal expert Dan Swanö’.

Impurity comment on the release: “After a year since we visited Sunlight Studio to record this beast of an album, we are proud to finally showcase it in its entirety. With ‘Denial of Clarity’ in the forefront and ‘Hymn of an Afterlife’ as a resolution we promise 38 minutes of relentless death metal. Now onwards to future endeavours…“

The album is available here: https://impurity.lnk.to/theeternalsleep

Track-list:
1. Denial of Clarity
2. Tribute to Creation
3. Ancient Remains
4. Life of Horrors
5. Lament to the Lost One
6. Pilgrimage to Utumno
7. Rectifying Pieces
8. Mourningside
9. The Eternal Sleep
10. Hymn of an Afterlife

Initially established in December of 2021 as Damnation by guitarist Ville Esbjörn and bassist Liam Curcic in Sickla, Stockholm. Seeking to complete their line up, lead-guitarist Axel Ask was inducted, finally uniting the members that would go on to forge Impurity. Shortly thereafter, with one of their many drummers, Impurity recorded their first demo Forever Lifeless in September 2022, at StudioPulverisa.

After the release of Forever Lifeless, Impurity went on to play multiple shows throughout Sweden, primarily in their hometown of Stockholm. During this time, Impurity entered the studio in March of 2024, to record their debut album The Eternal Sleep at Sunlight Studio. With Tomas Skogsberg’s production and Dan Swanö’s mastering work, they brought back a sound of Swedish Death Metal thought to be extinct. Incorporating the styles of bands such as Evocation, Eucharist, God Macabre and many more, their debut release will ensure an album that recalls memories of the forlorn underground scene in Sweden.

Signing with Hammerheart Records in September 2024 to release this debut, Impurity’s founding members, Esbjörn, Curcic, and Ask are set to push the boundaries further, aiming to challenge and redefine modern death metal with their relentless sound.

Darkwave Godfather JUSTIN WARFIELD Reveals “Deathrock Devotionals Vol.1”

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 10, 2025
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Justin Warfield, WARFIELD. Leave a comment

More than twenty years after Justin Warfield stepped out at the helm of She Wants Revenge, and rewired both the temperament and timbre of “goth rock,” the genre is about to undergo another scintillating make-over as his solo WARFIELD project unwraps Deathrock Devotionals Volume I

The first of multiple EPs that will ultimately comprise an entire new album, Deathrock Devotionals has already made a mighty mark via two widely acclaimed singles, ““All The Fun (Kiss, Kiss, Kiss)” and “Jet Plane.”  Now, three further songs await discovery, “Distraction,” “Whispers for the Dead” and “Get Away/Far Away” – and all three offer incontrovertible proof that the success of this latest venture is here to stay.

It is also a very different beast to She Wants Revenge, as Warfield explains.

“As the singer and co-songwriter of She Wants Revenge, I’ve developed a voice over the last two decades within that framework. But that said, anything I’ve done outside of the band has always been an intentional departure, both to follow musical and creative urges, as well as trying something which wouldn’t necessarily fit the band, but affords me the opportunity to stretch out.

“Usually this means less minor keys, a different sonic palette, and moving towards something less dark and more indicative of other genres I love and which are part of me, whether it’s hip-hop, shoegaze, or California Rock.

“When I sit down to write, whatever comes out, comes out. But there’s no specific intention. It’s usually the product of what I’m feeling, what I’m taking in media wise, or any number of factors, and often times, when something I write doesn’t fit SWR, I slide to the side and put in the vault as it were.”

WARFIELD, he says, is different, in that “for the first time, the songs I was writing for myself felt connected to my contributions to SWR, both in the way I sang them, but also by virtue of the fact that the music was dark and of the Goth, New Wave world we’ve helped revitalize since founding the band.”

That, he continues, is the direction he followed as the Deathrock Devotionals project came together.  “I allowed the creativity to guide me, and just explored different sounds and building blocks to differentiate it, to make things heavier, punchier, a bit more lighthearted, and with different energy running through it” – a process that the first single, “All The Fun (Kiss, Kiss, Kiss),” made apparent.

“What makes WARFIELD standout and sound different, not just to SWR but to a lot of current electronic-leaning Darkwave, is the similarities it shares with that  lineage of Deathrock, and when I wrote that first song, I knew that I’d found something which felt like a future version of that distinctly 78-83 LA sound, and right away the entire project felt like it was all laid out for me.”

He acknowledges “anything I do is going to reflect all of my collective influences.”  And while one can hear touchstones such as  The Damned, Christian Death, early New Order and Bauhaus, Warfield says equally influential on this project are The Cult, Alice Bag, and The B-52’s.

“The rapid-fire delivery is the result of loving Chrissie Hynde as much as it is Rakim, and I’m just as inspired by the images of Edward Colver and Linda Aronow as I am the bands they photographed. One thing I love is that people have told me they can hear the hip-hop and other past projects I’ve done in the new music, which to me is the highest compliment, that it’s perhaps the most, ‘me’ of anything I’ve done.

“And though Deathrock is a term which has never gone away, and die-hards keep alive culturally as well as musically, to me it’s a very special moment in time, that period which followed the late 70s scene in LA when punks let their artsy inclinations guide them towards the macabre, horror-themes, and a creepier, darker, but equally fast and aggressive sound. I mean, 45 Grave, Super Heroines, Rozz, Patrick Mata…all those people pioneered it, I’m just taking inspiration from them, and using my sensibilities and the continuation of that spirit to make something new, fun, full of energy, and fresh.”
