BREAKER Unveil New Lyric Video ‘Liberty’

Speed-heavy metal powerhouse BREAKER is proud to present the lyric video for their explosive track “Liberty”, taken from their self-titled debut EP, Breaker, out now via Wormholedeath Records.

The track “Liberty” takes a powerful stance against the darker side of power and the distorted ideals used to justify violence and oppression. The song’s unflinching lyrics critique the hypocrisy of using “liberation” as an excuse for tyranny, greed, and destruction. It explores themes of blind faith, corruption, and the devastating consequences of a society driven by false justifications. The new lyric video brings these intense themes to life, delivering an uncompromising message about the cost of liberty built on lies.

Formed in 2023 by vocalist Terje Fiskvatn, guitarist Caleb Beal (Villain, Midnight Malice), and drummer Rider Johnson (former Razor), BREAKER quickly crafted their signature sound, blending high-octane metal with fierce energy. The band’s debut EP, Breaker, features tracks like Liberty and Babylon, written by Fiskvatn and expanded with the powerful contributions of Beal and Johnson.

FREE MACHINE Share Lyric Video for ‘So Long Now’ from Debut Album

Free Machine, the passion project that brings together a group of friends, has just released the lyric video for their track So Long Now, taken from their debut album Dead Echoes. Known for their 90s-inspired grunge sound and raw, unfiltered approach to music-making, Free Machine delivers a powerful anthem that connects deeply with fans of the genre.

So Long Now embodies the spirit of grunge, with influences from legends like Soundgarden, Nirvana, and Big Wreck. As the band explains, “Listening to way too much Nirvana, Big Wreck and Soundgarden, I picked up the guitar and just had this ‘uplifting, uptempo feeling in my gut’ and just went with it. Next thing that opening riff hit me… and we were off,” says Free Machine’s guitarist Clint Jurgens.

The track, which touches on the theme of cutting ties with a negative presence, speaks to the challenge of ending relationships where one person has been doing all the emotional heavy lifting. “There are good memories, but you were the only one that was pulling their weight, and you finally made the call to end it,” says the band. “Though this sounds like a relationship, it’s actually about a former bandmate who never valued the friendship as much as we did.”

Fans will experience the dynamic contrasts of the track – from the catchy main riff that kicks off the song to the off-time, top string melody of the verse. The bridge offers a departure from the familiar, showing just how Free Machine allows the music to take them where it feels it needs to go.

“We love the contrast of the uptempo feel with the deeper emotional message,” says Clint. “It’s a feel-good 90s anthem about disengaging with the nonsense in your life.”

Free Machine’s debut album Dead Echoes is a testament to their passion for crafting authentic rock music, and the band’s approach to songwriting and recording is equally unconventional. With no members ever meeting in person, the entire album was created remotely, driven by their shared love for 90s grunge. The result is an album that captures the essence of what it means to make music purely for the love of it.

As the band describes it, “The whole thing is a project for like-minded fans who just want to enjoy good music. There’s no bigger picture, no marketing pushes, just the joy of sharing our sound.”

Tarja releases second single and music video for ‘Diva (Live in Bucharest)’ from her upcoming live album ‘Circus Life’ through earMUSIC today.

Originally featured on her 2016 album The Shadow Self, ‘Diva’ is a dramatic and powerful anthem that quickly became a fan favorite and one of Tarja’s classics played on tour. This rendition, recorded in Bucharest at the spectacular Circus Life Concert, showcases Tarja’s signature vocal mastery, theatrical presence, and the grandeur of her live shows.

‘There is a lovely memory behind ‘DIVA’. We were in Antigua and walking around the local harbour when we saw this old boat stored outside the water and that quickly inspired me to write a pirate themed song. I playfully described the last walk of the ‘Diva’ on the ship before being pushed out by the rats on board. Any resemblance to reality is pure coincidence.’ – Tarja

Access ‘Diva (Live in Bucharest)’ HERE

Recorded in January 2020, in Bucharest, Romania, the ‘Circus Life’ show was one of a kind when Tarja performed in this very special ‘in the round’ format. 2 hours of powerful music featuring a setlist that spans Tarja’s career, including all of her greatest hits such as ‘I Walk Alone’, ‘Until My Last Breath’ and ‘Innocence’, as well as fan favourites like ‘Victim Of Ritual’ and ‘Demons In You’, showcasing her evolution as an artist.

Featuring 16 accomplished musicians, including her brother Toni, a diverse ensemble from various stages of her career, it was an extraordinary event. All songs were provided with new arrangements just for this concert, making the show a unique experience for the long-time Tarja fan, as well as the first-time listener.

‘Circus Life’ was recorded in one take, 100% live – no re-recordings, no overdubs, no special effects. Just pure, raw music.

JUS PRIMAE NOCTIS Release Music Video for ‘A Story’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 8, 2025
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: JPN, JUS PRIMAE NOCTIS. Leave a comment

The legendary progressive rock band JUS PRIMAE NOCTIS (JPN) has released the music video for “a story”, a track that draws from the classic prog influences of Genesis and King Crimson, enriched with refined jazz and blues elements. Over these immersive sounds, the elegant and soothing voice narrates, as the title suggests, a story.

It is the story of a woman who leaves a foggy seaside city in search of a new beginning elsewhere, in distant lands where incense and spices enchant the senses and soothe the pain. Her present is filled with solitude and memories, and amidst the excitement of departure, a question arises: Do I have anyone to share my journey with? Does leaving really make sense? (“What’s the meaning of a choice? If you can’t tell anyone all the reasons, tell the story”). Even illness—the hostile chemistry that holds her body and mind captive—leads to deeper questions. But now that balance is lost, she can finally go with the flow of events and smile once more.

The music video, filmed in Genoa, offers breathtaking glimpses of the Ligurian Sea and includes both live and studio footage, providing a taste of the band’s authentic essence.

Several prestigious guest musicians have contributed their instruments, enhancing the song with sophistication and depth: Diego Banchero (Il Segno del Comando, Malombra, Egida Aurea) on bass, Renzo Luise (former Jus Primae Noctis, Gipsy Troyka, awarded Best Guitarist at Django) on guitar, Alex “Pacho” Rossy (Perigeo, Morgan, Elio e le Storie Tese, Trio Bobo) on drums and additional percussion, and Matteo Scarpettini (Antonello Salis, Niccolò Fabi, Trio Bobo) on percussion.

“a story” is the first single from the album “Man of Air”, released in 2025 by Nadir Music.

Jus Primae Noctis (JPN) have been active since 1991. Over time, the core lineup has remained unchanged (Marco Fehmer – guitar and vocals, Beppi Menozzi – keyboards, Mario Riggio – drums), while many musicians have joined them throughout the years. The current formation was finalized in 2009 with the addition of guitarist Pietro Balbi.

Along with various lineups, the band’s musical journey has evolved, leading them to explore singer-songwriter music, progressive rock, and improg (collective progressive rock improvisations).

JPN have released several self-produced albums and DVDs, but since 2019, they have been collaborating steadily with Nadir Music for their releases. Their discography includes five full-length albums, a remaster, two live albums, and four singles, including this latest release. Their newest album, “Man of Air”, released in 2025, is their first entirely in English and is set to reach an international audience.

CHEPANG Sign to Relapse, Announce “Jhyappa” Pre-Order & Share Music Video ‘Parichaya 2.0/Shakti’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 8, 2025
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: CHEPANG. Leave a comment

With a grindcore band like CHEPANG, it’s hard to keep up. Hailing from Queens, New York, by way of Kathmandu, Nepal (the noise guy’s roots are Colombian), CHEPANG has never been your by-the-numbers band. They guys call their music “immigrindcore”: They use samples from Nepali pop songs. They sing in Nepali. They embrace their immigrant identities.

The lyrics on Jhyappa, the new album coming out on Relapse Records (due out May 23rd on LP/CD/CS/Digital) are “hardcore Nepalese,” guitarist Kshitiz Moktan says. “Even sometimes I don’t understand.” Google Translate can’t handle the lyrics either. Regardless, “this record is more, I would say personal” than CHEPANG’s other records, Moktan says, about “trying to relearn everything about yourself” and “releasing all your negative energy inside you.”

Pre-order the album at orcd.co/chepang

The designs of the band’s album covers are anything but standard death metal or grindcore. Jhyappa’s cover art (by Masato Chaos) is based on self-immolation. But not “about any religion or any government; it’s against yourself.” Everyone has their struggles, in their own head and in life, but the only one that can fix that is yourself, Moktan explains. “One has to be closer to one’s self spiritually to defeat this and come out victorious,” and this theme is depicted on the cover: “the self-immolation against your own inner self,” he says.

NYC is referenced on the cover also. “All of us have lived half of our lives here. We live here, we see everything, positive and negative, so we wanted to have some kind of New York” represented on the cover, Moktan says. On the streets and in the subways, the guys always see “many people of different colors and races with their own life and story to tell. These are dynamic cues in life and serve as a motivation and also pride to be a part of this big city where diversity is everything. A melting pot of cultures,” he says, that are metaphors relevant in the album art and the songs.

Jhyappa is “a really personal record,” says Moktan. When crafting it, the guys decided, “We will try to express what we can personally that we have not explained in other records, what we are dealing with, what we want to achieve.” That includes “the ups and downs of living the life of an immigrant where you are trying to find yourself, trying to survive with the day to day of life, be it financially or psychologically,” he says.

Musically, the guys said, “Let’s spin it back” to the first 7” from 2016, Lathi Charge, and go full circle—old school CHEPANG. Jhyappa is similar to that first EP sonically and structurally, but “I think definitely it’s the most metal record we have ever written; that I can say.” It’s also the most accessible and digestible, he adds.

Jhyappa is CHEPANG’s debut album for Relapse Records, nine tracks in a brutal package under 20 minutes long. The song “Shakti” (“Force” in Nepali) is a cover of the Japanese band FORCE. Kevin Bernsten (FULL OF HELL, GENOCIDE PACT, ILSA) recorded and mixed the album at Developing Nations, with the drums tracked at The Magpie Cage Studio. “We wanted more of a live sound, the way we are, raw kind of thing, and we pushed for more, like, room sound from the drums” and Bernsten delivered, says Moktan. James Plotkin (KHANATE, NADJA) handled mastering.

Keep up with CHEPANG if you can with Jhyappa.
