Emerging blackened death metal entity YHWH has unleashed the lyric video for “Realm of Darkness,” a relentless and haunting track from their forthcoming EP, Tetragrammaton, which will be released on April 25, 2025, via Wormholedeath.

Immerse yourself in a visceral descent into chaos—”Realm of Darkness” encapsulates the tortured cries of the abyss, delivering an unrelenting barrage of blackened death metal fury.

Formed in 2024, YHWH is a Belgian-Thai blackened death metal project that fuses the raw aggression of black metal with the punishing brutality of death metal. Influenced by the genre’s forebears, the band conjures a savage and uncompromising sound, channeling the primal essence of extreme metal’s darkest traditions.

Brace yourself for the arrival of Tetragrammaton on April 25, 2025—a monumental statement of darkness and devastation. More details to be unveiled soon.

LISTEN to the album on streaming services: https://push.fm/fl/headphone-jacks-album – CD Orders from HERE.

The band provides a track-by-track description of the album:
1. Space Ghost
-Space Ghost is about a wild, psychedelic journey through space and time. The imagery of a “space machine” that “screams like a wolverine” and “rocks your rib cage like a raw beast” sets the tone for an intense, high-energy experience. The song emphasizes a sense of liberation and escape from reality. The mention of passing Mercury and floating in the fifth dimension adds a cosmic, otherworldly element to the journey. The lyrics also touch on themes of time travel, exploration, and the desire for freedom. Overall, the song celebrates the thrill of adventure and the pursuit of an unreal, transcendent reality.

2. Them Zombies
-The lyrics create a chaotic and desperate atmosphere about inner turmoil and the difficulty of maintaining fairness. There are repeated warnings about lies and the need to recognize the truth suggesting a theme of deception and the struggle to see reality clearly. There are references to religion and passivity add a layer of existential questioning, with urging a decision and the pursuit of a prize. Overall, the lyrics explore themes of conflict, deception, and the search for truth amidst chaos.

3. Lunatic
-Lunatic conveys a sense of isolation and struggle in a harsh, unforgiving environment. The song’s main character feels abandoned and left to fend for themselves with a sense of impending doom. But there is resilience in the face of adversity. Overall, the lyrics paint a vivid picture of a struggle against overwhelming odds and the search for meaning in a harsh, unforgiving world.

4. Black Flies
-Black Flies is about themes of darkness, fear, and existential exploration. It speaks of being born into overwhelming fear and the inevitability of existence. There is a search for meaning and purpose outside conventional norms. The imagery of a single tear in darkness and the fate of disappearing highlights a sense of sorrow and inevitability. The lyrics also touch on themes of sacrifice and rituals. Mention of black flies and the struggle to escape them adds a sense of entrapment and despair. The lyrics repeatedly call to run away and not look back emphasizing a desire for escape and liberation. Overall, the lyrics explore deep and complex emotions, painting a vivid picture of a journey through darkness and the search for meaning and freedom.

5. Pharaoh’s Cane
-The song title “Pharaoh’s cane” symbolizes a crushing, authoritarian power that inflicts pain and suffering. The lines about cosmic winds and ancient spirits add a mystical element, hinting at forces beyond human control that contribute to the sense of doom. Overall, the lyrics paint a vivid picture of a struggle against overwhelming odds and the search for meaning in a harsh, unforgiving world.

6. Savior
-The lyrics capture a sense of emotional turmoil and introspection. They suggest a deep sense of vulnerability and fragmentation. Despite this, there is a paradoxical sense of pleasure in the midst of pain. There’s lines about a savior and selling one’s soul hint at themes of betrayal, sacrifice, and the search for redemption. The repeated questioning about the worth of such sacrifices and the ultimate destination—heaven or hell—adds a layer of existential contemplation. The final lines of the song convey a sense of anger and accusation. Overall, the lyrics explore complex emotions and the human condition in a raw and evocative manner.

7. Pawns Can’t Be Kings
-Pawns is an almost instrumental song. The main theme of the composition is the layered guitar riff that both opens and ends the song. The song gtitle “pawns can’t be kings” is often used metaphorically to convey the idea that those in lower positions or with limited power cannot easily ascend to positions of great authority or influence.

8. Discipline
-The lyrics paint a vivid picture of introspection and self-discovery. The imagery of an “alabaster angel” falling in slow motion suggests a moment of realization or awakening. The dream sequence where the vocalist  floats above themselves and locks eyes with their own reflection symbolizes a deeper understanding of their soul’s freedom. The repeated lines about emancipation, discipline, and listening highlight the importance of self-discipline and honest communication in achieving true freedom. The lyrics also touch on themes of disconnecting from societal systems and finding balance within oneself. Overall, the song seems to explore the journey towards personal liberation and inner peace.

EMBRIONAL Post Live Video for ‘Lies Of God’

Polish death metal band EMBRIONAL shares live music video for the song “Lies Of God”. The track is lifted from the group’s new studio album, “Inherited Tendencies for Self-Destruction”, released late March on Agonia Records.

The video, available below, was recorded at Rudeboy Club in Bielsko-Biała, Poland:

EMBRIONAL‘s fourth full-length marks a new chapter for the Gliwice-based four-piece. The compositions take on a redefined approach, from writing, recording, through self-production by vocalist Skullripper of Azarath fame. The drums and guitars  give off a natural and spacious sounding, having been tracked at the atmospheric Piekło Niebo Studio in cooperation with Ataman Tolovy. Combined with crisp growls, hounding bass & tremolo arm-prone guitar solos – registered at Panzer Studios – the sonic arrangement turns out suffocating and dark, layered with punishing outbursts not impervious to more climatic moments along the album’s near 40 minute run. Production-wise, the longplay has been diversified by throwing in technical flavors and a balanced amount of samples, which smartly add up to its heaviness. Haldor Grunberg took care of mixing and mastering at Satanic Audio (Behemoth, Azarath, Pestilence). Maciej Kamuda painted the cover artwork and Maciej Mutwil portrayed the band in photography.

“We are very pleased with the album” comments the band. “Our sound signature matured and stands out from our earlier offerings. In conscious avail of our past experience, the compositions and production undergone a deliberate treatment, unheard in Embrional’s music before.”

Tracklisting:
1. Choirs of Apocalypse (intro)
2. The World Deserves Self-Destruction
3. Inspiration to Slay
4. Seduced by the Lies
5. Lies of God
6. The Shrine of Collapse
7. Suicide Journey
8. Purified by Death
9. Sadistic Desire
10. Extinction (outro)
11. Obliteration Rites

Darek Młody – drums
Marek – guitars
Armagog – bass

GÖSTA BERLINGS SAGA Release 19 Minute Standalone Single ‘Fragment I’ with Video

Fearlessly experimental, deliciously irreverent and defiantly unclassifiable for 25 years, Stockholm’s Gösta Berlings Saga have announced the release of Forever Now, their highly anticipated seventh studio album, on 6th June via Pelagic Records. Still determined to push boundaries after two decades, Forever Now’s second single ‘Fragment I’, which is unveiled today, doesn’t actually appear on the record.

Pre-order Forever Now here: https://orcd.co/gostaberlingssaga

The band comment: “‘Fragment I’ was recorded in January 2025 with the ambition to expand the NOW within Forever Now. Fragments of music from the upcoming album, intertwined with ideas dating back to the time before our very first record, were allowed to merge freely over an afternoon in the studio. To shape this session, we invited two guest musicians we deeply admire: Reine Fiske (Träden, Dungen) on guitar and Gustav Nygren (Kungens Män, Anekdoten) on guitar and saxophone.

“The result is a journey through layers of sound and improvisation, colliding to create something entirely new and ‘now’.”

Gösta Berlings Saga began in 2000 with a creative spark keenly felt between keyboardist David Lundberg and drummer Alexander Skepp. Taking formative inspiration from the ‘60s jazz fusion improvisations of fellow Swedes Hansson & Karlsson, Gösta Berlings Saga broadened their sonic palette with the addition of bassist Gabriel Tapper and guitarist Mathias Danielsson before the release of their debut album Tid Är Ljud in 2006. Danielsson subsequently left the project to be replaced by Einar Baldursson, contributing to the darker and more complex sound of 2009’s Detta Har Hänt, 2011’s Glue Works and 2016’s Sersophane.

The overt manipulation of sound and melody on this trio of early releases helped set Gösta Berlings Saga apart from the rest of the progressive pack, swerving easy cliché and navel gazing nostalgia in favour of a fervently forward-thinking ethos. Undoubtedly influenced by the greats of prog, art-rock, electronica and the avant-garde, Gösta Berlings Saga have remained thrillingly impervious to categorisation.

2017 saw another evolution within the band as Baldursson left to be replaced with Rasmus Booberg whilst percussionist and multi-instrumentalist Jesper Skarin also joined the ranks. Rejuvenated and revitalised, Gösta Berlings Saga’s subsequent albums, ET EX (2018) and Konkret Music (2020), introduced a whole new audience to the band’s idiosyncratic fearless experimentation, breakneck rock ‘n’ roll infused with even more found sound electronics and sonic obscura. Uncompromising and utterly distinct, these albums solidified the band’s belief that staying true to their own artistic vision was always the only way forward.

Forever Now is 10 tracks of hand-crafted chaos that bear all the brilliance of Gösta Berlings Saga’s 25 years of irreverent innovation. Entirely written, recorded, produced and mixed by the band for the very first time, the album sees synthesizers and arpeggiated guitars spiral ever higher, colliding with helter skelter percussion and pulse-racing drums on the way, whilst the band’s innate trust in each other and in their music form the propulsive core of a perpetual energy engine five years in the making.

Although not established as a concept album as such, personal tragedies during the early writing process ultimately left their mark. For a time the band tried to separate their collective creativity from the events of their private lives but, rather than grief and darkness making their presence felt, Gösta Berlings Saga built this album on the pursuit of the eternal – a euphoric glimpse beyond time, where music becomes a bridge between the present and what was and will be, echoing connections that never fade.

Forever Now track list:

1. Full Release
2. Through The Arches
3. Arrangements
4. Forever Now
5. The Sprig and the Birch
6. Fragment II
7. Ascension
8. Dog Years
9. Make of Your Heart a Stone
10. Ceremonial

Gösta Berlings Saga are:
Jesper Skarin – Percussion
Gabriel Tapper – Bass
David Lundberg – Keys
Rasmus Booberg – Guitars
Alexander Skepp – Drums

Finnish Classic Rockers THE GRAMMERS will continue their career with a French singer Monia Sommer. The new female singer will open new doors in the band’s 25-year career.

Classic rock band The Grammers released their eighth album, recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales and named after the studio, last year. The album release gig was also the last for founding member Hannu Vainionpää. The band announced early this year on social media and muusikoiden.net that they were looking for a new singer. Applications came in large numbers, but Monia‘s voice and personality stood out from the crowd immediately and after the auditions it was clear. The Grammers would continue their career with a female singer!

Monia comments:
Hi! I’m Monia Sommer, a French singer who’s been living in Finland for the past nine years. Music has been a central part of my life since childhood, and over the years I’ve had the pleasure of performing with several rock and metal bands, most recently Abandon All. Alongside band work, I also sing in a choir and a vocal quartet, which keeps my musical world rich and diverse.
I’m thrilled to be joining The Grammers and can’t wait to see where this new adventure takes us!

The band comments:
Monia is a versatile, very good-sounding rock and heavy singer, whose sound even reminds us of Blackie Lawless! We are very happy to be able to continue our career with Monia. New music together is coming soon!

See Rockfield-music videos on YouTube or listen to the album on music services.
