THE MEDICINE DOLLS Unleash Filthy New Single & Video ‘Tip The Waitress’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 13, 2026
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: THE MEDICINE DOLLS. Leave a comment

Cape Town’s glam-soaked punk provocateurs THE MEDICINE DOLLS return with a ferocious new single and music video, “Tip The Waitress” (out now on Just Music), a snarling slice of punk-splattered rock ’n roll that captures the band at their most unapologetic and unhinged.

Formed in 2018, The Medicine Dolls are a four-piece sonic riot hailing from Cape Town, South Africa. Founded by vocalist Gory Guttersnipe and bassist Bex Knickerless, the band later solidified its lineup with guitarist Slava Nikonov and drummer Callula Jane Clay-Smith. Together they’ve cultivated a reputation for fusing raw rock ’n roll energy with theatrical flair, delivering performances and visuals dripping in dark glamour, sleaze, and rebellious attitude.

Drawing influence from cult icons such as The Cramps, The B-52s, Nina Hagen and modern provocateur Ashnikko, the band blends punk grit with campy theatricality and biting attitude to create a unique visual and sonic cocktail. The result is music that feels both vintage and futuristic, equal parts trashy, glamorous and defiantly weird.

Accompanying the release is a striking new music video directed by internationally acclaimed South African filmmaker Ryan Kruger. Known globally for his bold, surreal and unapologetically gritty visual style, Kruger gained cult recognition through projects like the boundary-pushing feature film Fried Barry. His work blends grindhouse aesthetics, dark humour and visceral storytelling, making him the perfect collaborator to bring The Medicine Dolls’ twisted rock ’n roll universe to life.

Kruger’s direction amplifies the band’s chaotic energy, leaning into the Dolls’ signature mix of punk sleaze, theatrical glamour and subversive imagery. The result is a visually explosive video that captures the spirit of the song while pushing the band’s aesthetic into even more daring territory.

With “Tip The Waitress”, recorded at Atomic Studios in Cape Town alongside long-time collaborator and producer Matthew Fink, The Medicine Dolls once again prove why they remain one of the most exciting and visually distinctive underground rock acts to emerge from South Africa’s alternative scene.

Turn it up. Let it get dirty.

MALUMMEH Return After 19 Years with New Single + Music Video ‘Dethroned’

Finnish metal band MALUMMEH, founded in 2004, have released a new single and music video entitled ‘Dethroned’. It’s been 19 years since the release of their debut album Revival via Spikefarm Records. The band is now set to release a self-titled EP on 28 May 2026 via Inverse Records.

The band comments:
“The opening track of the EP was written for an authoritarian leader. The listener can decide who. This two-part composition leads the listener straight into the core of the band’s soundscape — from tense anticipation to relentless crushing force. Even though the song is old, the lyrics are more relevant than ever, and the track stays very close to its original version. It represents the band’s modern take on the best elements of early-2000s metal. Any djent that may appear here is purely coincidental.”

Malummeh is a metal band founded in 2004 and originating from the Helsinki metropolitan area. The band blends various metal subgenres into an aggressive, melodic, and explosive whole that stands firmly on its own with no apologies. The group was founded by guitarists Mikael Kiikka and Jaakko Eskelinen, with drummer Valtteri Kallio joining at a very early stage. Alongside the original trio, lineup changes eventually led to Jukka Vehkamaa becoming the band’s bassist and Marko Niemistö taking the role of vocalist. During the early 2000s, the band showed promising momentum, culminating in the release of their debut album Revival through Spinefarm (Spikefarm) in November 2007. However, internal dynamics within the band gradually began to fracture, and in 2011 the band disbanded.

The silence lasted until 2022, when old conflicts were laid to rest and the band rediscovered its drive. The idea for restarting initially came from the possibility of releasing older, unfinished songs, but working on those tracks quickly led to writing new material as well. In practice, the band continues from where it left off, but with a more focused approach and without the rigid absolutism that often comes with youth.

In its new era, Malummeh focuses on bringing the strongest elements of early 2000s metal into the present day while leaving behind the most worn-out clichés of that period. This is made possible through complete artistic independence: the band composes, records, and produces its music entirely on its own terms, maintaining a strong emphasis on musicianship and a direct yet emotionally varied style of expression.

The comeback is not built solely on nostalgia. The goal is also to push the band’s sound forward into a more versatile direction while preserving its recognizable core. With new material, Malummeh continues its story after a long hiatus, now with a clearer understanding among its members of what kind of music they want to create and why.

Mikael Kiikka – Guitars
Jaakko Eskelinen – Guitars

DEVIN TOWNSEND Announces Ambitious, Orchestral Metal Opus “The Moth”, First Video Single ‘Enter The City’ Out Now

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 13, 2026
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Devin Townsend. Leave a comment

An album over a decade in the making, The Moth finally arrives on the 29th May 2026. This 24-track record began as a vague vision more than a decade ago. It existed in the back of Devin Townsend’s mind as his “life’s work”. Then, about six years ago, after an acoustic show in Amsterdam, Townsend was approached by the head of the North Netherlands’ Orchestra and Choir with an offer: bring orchestral grandeur to Devin’s extensive discography. That was the moment The Moth stopped being an idea and began to become a reality.

Devin is also pleased to reveal the first introduction to the world of The Moth, in the shape of the track ‘Enter The City’. The song is accompanied by a video created by Studio Sparks, which you can watch now here.

The Moth constitutes 3 distinct parts across its release. In addition to the main album, The Moth – The Afterlife highlights the grandeur of the orchestra & choir, in what might be considered a more pure version of The Moth experience. The Moth – The War is a recording of the live musical debut that took place in March 2025 in The Netherlands, showcasing the raw emotion of performing The Moth for the very first time.

Hard rock veterans SPREAD EAGLE are thrilled to announce the release of their upcoming new album “The Brutal Divine”, out on June 12, 2026, via Frontiers Music Srl.

To coincide with the announcement, the band share the first single and accompanying video, “Street Noise”, available below.

Spread Eagle are set to embark on “The Brutal Divine Tour 2026” later this month, with dates across the US, and in UK and Europe throughout the summer. For the full list of dates, please see below and HERE.

The band stated: “Street Noise” is an obvious choice to kick off “The Brutal Divine”. It sets the aggressive tone of the album and hints at what’s to come. On this song, Ray West does a great job channeling the energy of our day to day dealings in NYC”.

Pre-Order “The Brutal Divine” HERE

“The Brutal Divine” is Spread Eagle’s long-awaited fourth studio album and a fierce new chapter in the band’s uncompromising legacy. Known for their raw energy, streetwise attitude, and explosive live performances, they once again prove why they remain a vital force in modern hard rock.

The band described the new record as “an emotionally and musically heavy body of songs showcasing a unique command of power, dynamics and melody. We have harnessed the energy of years of non-stop touring and turned it into a metal/punk thrill ride of an album”.

“Lyrically, “The Brutal Divine” challenges us to question our views and ask if we’re truly as free thinking as we may believe. Once that question is posed, the album progresses towards uplifting messages of hope and community”, they continued.

Fronted by the unmistakable voice of Ray West, the band delivers a powerful collection of songs that balance grit and melody, aggression and soul. Guitarist Gianmaria “Jommy” Puledda injects the record with razor-sharp riffs and soaring harmonies, while Rob De Luca (bass, vocals) and Rik De Luca (drums) form a thunderous rhythmic backbone that drives every track with authority and groove.

Produced by Rob De Luca, “The Brutal Divine” captures the band at their most focused and dynamic – blending their classic hard rock roots with a darker, heavier edge. The album channels the intensity and authenticity that first put Spread Eagle on the map, while showcasing a band that continues to evolve without losing its identity.

With a full slate of live dates planned in support of the release, Spread Eagle are ready to bring “The Brutal Divine” to stages around the world – where their music truly comes alive. This is hard rock delivered with conviction, attitude, and fire.

PARALLEL MINDS’ New Album “Cairn” Out Now

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 13, 2026

With “Cairn”, PARALLEL MINDS deliver their most ambitious and mature work to date. This modern, dense, and finely crafted album combines power, emotion, and technical mastery to explore a universal theme:
the human condition in the face of collective suffering.

Musically, the album shines with its versatility:
from sharp, aggressive prog metal in “Sufero,” reminiscent of Symphony X, to uncompromising Testament-like thrash fury in “Fear Is The Pandemic,” to the epic grandeur of Blind Guardian-esque anthems like ‘Sekigahara’ and “Troubles.”

Each song by the French band opens a window to a country, a culture.
Thus, “Cairn” brings together a whole range of artists from all over the world:
the tribal and spiritual intensity of Arka’n Asrafokor and Silveira Lakoélé Atalawoè (Togo) alongside leading names from the French scene such as Asylum Pyre, Muhurta, and Stone Horns create a sound of rare richness and depth.

The first single ”Sufero” was released on January 11, along with a music video.

FFO: Blind Guardian, Evergrey, Symphony X

The band itself says about the new album:
“‘Cairn’ was conceived as a true acoustic and visual journey and features first-class audio production and a carefully crafted visual identity. The first music video has already been released, with more to follow, expanding this immersive experience in which each song becomes a fragment of a larger story, a stone added to the monument.
At the heart of this album is the symbol of the cairn – those piles of stones left behind by travelers on their journey, a metaphor for building oneself up stone by stone and leaving a trail for those who come after. ‘Cairn’ is much more than an album. It is a comprehensive sensory experience. A celebration of human resilience. And a call to build our own cairns – so that we never lose our way.”

Season of Mist Announces Reissue of BORKNAGAR’s “True North”, Out May 15th

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 13, 2026
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Borknagar. Leave a comment

In staying true to metal’s origins, Borknagar have always let their spirit guide them. Starting with the band’s self-titled beginnings back in 1996, these Norwegians pushed past the boundaries set by traditional black metal. Over the course of the past 30 years, the band’s domain has come to include prog, neofolk and darkly enchanting hard rock, capped by major international tours and chart placements across the world.

Today, Season of Mist is proud to announce a reissue of Borknagar’s album True North. More than two decades into their storied career, the band reached another creative peak on their eleventh full-length, which includes the hit singles “Up North”, “Voices” and “The Fire That Burns”.

True North will be reissued by Season of Mist on May 15, 2026.

Pre-order: https://redirect.season-of-mist.com/BorknagarShop

Available formats
–2×12″ Vinyl Gatefold (Black)
–2×12” Vinyl Gatefold (Crystal clear, black and white marbled)

True North found Borknagar at a crossroad. Half of the band’s lineup had turned over, but their longstanding members kept them on a dizzying upward trajectory. Whether picking or riffing, founder and guitarist Øystein Brun led the way, lighting a path for the versatile ICS Vortex (Arcturus, ex-Dimmu Borgir) to return to the mic. His thunderous cleans shine amidst the warm misty keys of hit single “Up North”, while his screams cut through the more hellish passages of “The Fire That Burns”. Even when hounded by “Voices”, keyboardist Lars Nedland’s resounding chorus resonated far and wide. Loudwire named the album one of the best of 2019.

Tracklist

  1. Thunderous (8:34)
  2. Up North (6:29)
  3. The Fire That Burns (6:38)
  4. Lights (5:04)
  5. Wild Father’s Heart (5:42)
