EVA UNDER FIRE‘s music is — quite literally — hard rock therapy. As a licensed therapist and powerhouse vocalist/songwriter, Amanda Lyberg blends emotional insight with powerful songwriting and undeniable hooks, delivering lyrics and performances that connect deeply and hit listeners right in the feels.

The Detroit quintet is thrilled to unleash its new album VILLAINOUS via Better Noise Music today, July 10. It’s the follow up to the band’s 2022-released debut, Love, Drugs & Misery. Get it here.

Today, the band is premiering the video for “My Own Name,” which is quite the battle anthem. Watch it here.

“They can call me whatever they want,” Lyberg declares. “I fought my battles and emerged victorious, I reclaimed my own name. I no longer give people a chance and I acknowledge this is a screwed up, unfair world. I will always choose myself.”

Elsewhere, the title track and first radio single, which features In This Moment’s Maria Brink, is Top 10 at radio. Listen to the song here. Watch the video here.

Overall, Villainous feels Eva Under Fire, who’ve been building their reputation brick by brick, melody by melody, lyric by lyric, and show by show, have truly arrived and staked their claim in the hard rock scene.

The album release is only the beginning.

For all of EVA UNDER FIRE’s new music, Amanda drew on her career as a licensed therapist to foster open dialogue among the band members, empowering everyone to be heard during the recording. Her work in therapy started in 2018 when she graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Psychology and went on to work at a mental health clinic in Detroit, Transcendence Behavioral Health (owned by Dr. Stephanie Williams). That same year, her father passed away due to a fentanyl overdose. Her mother survived the same batch that killed her father and has been sober for the past six years. In addition to her thriving and busy music career, Amanda is currently a practicing psychotherapist specializing in trauma work, grief, loss, and addiction recovery.

Her story turned into a 2023 short film, My Rockstar, which used EVA UNDER FIRE music throughout and has won over 20 awards at several film fests including Orlando Film Fest, Wild Rivers Film Festival, Toronto WILDfilm Festival, and many others.

Lauded as one of SiriusXM’s 2023 “Ones To Watch,” EVA UNDER FIRE released their critically acclaimed debut album, LOVE, DRUGS & MISERY via Better Noise Music in 2022. Its deluxe version includes the Top 20 Active Rock radio-charting single “Unstoppable” featuring country/rock artist Cory Marks. They’ve toured across the globe with acts including Bush, Bad Wolves, Pop Evil, Skillet, and Finger Eleven, while also appearing at some of rock’s biggest festivals including Aftershock, Inkcarceration, and Rock Fest.

EVA UNDER FIRE—who have amassed over 100 million streams and 10 million YouTube views—substantially expanded their fanbase following their featured appearance in the horror-thriller The Retaliators (Better Noise Films) and the inclusion of their single “Blow (Feat. Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills)” on the film’s soundtrack. Their single “Heroin(e)” was also featured on the soundtrack for the 2020 film Sno Babies (Better Noise Films), which has over 65M global streams. “Heroin(e)” has a combined total of over six million global streams, while “Blow (Feat. Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills)” has over 41.6M global total streams.

MASTER MASSIVE’s New Studio Album “White Shadows” Out Now

Swedish cult act MASTER MASSIVE release their new studio album, called „White Shadows“, through Fireflash Records. The album is a pure and epic heavy metal gem, and unites traditional metal with progressive and doom elements.

„We had big ambitions for the album. We decided that there shouldn’t be a single weak song or meaningless note. Even so, it surpassed our expectations”, says Jan Strandh

  • Order “White Shadows” here: https://save-it.cc/fireflash/white-shadows
  • Order at Bandcamp: https://ff-mastermassive.bandcamp.com/album/white-shadows

“Islands and Bells” – video: https://youtu.be/3s72-UtPP_Y
“Jonah And The Whale” – video: https://youtu.be/D0Zk2Cbtl1I

MASTER MASSIVE was originally founded in the early 90s by guitar wizard Jan Strandh, who created the band out of the ashes of his predecessors ZANITY and ACT. With this new album, the band also decided to move forward with the three-vocalist concept, including Tony Niva (ex-LION’S SHARE, ZANITY), Viktor Gustafsson (LETHAL STEEL), and Marcus “Masken” Karlsson, who sang on the previous release “Black Feathers On Their Graves“.

On top, Anders Ericson (ex-BEYOND TWILIGHT) will continue as their live guitarist. „When the album was fully composed, I came to realize that it had become very dynamic and that it would be extremely demanding for a singer to deliver all the different falsettos I had in mind“, explains Jan Strandh. „Masken was already on board, and we met regularly to go through the vocal parts. It was actually him, who mentioned that Tony would suit certain sections. I contacted Tony, and it turned out he was eager to give it a try. Max then played me the singer Viktor Gustafsson, who had just moved to Skövde. I thought he had an interesting timbre and a powerful, beefy vibrato. We got in touch with him, and he said yes. Now we had three singers who could do different things: Tony, who always gets the most difficult and highest parts – immensely musical and virtuosic. Masken, with his convincing, powerful, and massive distorto – extremely good with lyrics. And Viktor, who turned out to be a total dark horse, able to sing in a witchy, almost ugly way and then switch to singing beautifully and emotionally. All three singers have agreed to join the band. We’re from different generations, we have different preferences, but what we share is a pounding heart for heavy metal.“

The songs on „White Shadows“ have been written and created over the past years, showing a huge variety and great balance between epic long tracks and catchy, but dark 80s metal hymns. „After experimenting with various large-scale formats – „The Pendulum“ (a metal opera) and „Black Feathers On Their Graves“ (almost a symphony) – I wanted to write shorter, faster songs with higher intensity and tempo“, describes Jan Strandh and adds: „The songs have also become more extroverted than before. An important factor has been inviting Max Warnby into the process. He has instilled confidence in the songs and manages to keep the interest alive when I start doubting too much. Writing songs is a sensitive process. For example, I never use drum machines in our demos since it kills the interest in the song. Instead, I record a stereo track of guitars and then add real drums on top of that. Songs that are difficult to arrange sometimes have to sit untouched for months before we return to them, all to avoid killing the vibe. My wife usually says that I use doubt as a working method – better to reject than to approve, so to speak. One advantage these days when composing is that I can stay focused on making the music both entertaining and unique, without it becoming too simple.“

The sound of MASTER MASSIVE is unique. You can hear MERCYFUL FATE, but also CANDLEMASS and early FATES WARNING and QUEENSRYCHE. „I’ve listened a lot to those bands, especially Mercyful Fate („Melissa“ and „Don’t Break The Oath“), and later also Fates Warning („Awaken The Guardian“). Originally, I come from the symphonic rock tradition, with bands like Queen, Genesis, Jethro Tull, and Black Sabbath. My playing style comes exclusively from the guitarists in these bands. The palm muting so characteristic of heavy metal, I got from Martin Barre of Jethro Tull, the vibrato from Brian May of Queen, the melodies from Steve Hackett of Genesis, and the riffs from Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath. I had a fondness for the slightly heavier songs, so when punk arrived and, a little later, the NWOBHM, there was no doubt about what kind of music I wanted to make.“

The lyrics on „White Shadows“ got inspired by life, movies, books – everything that caches the attention of Strandh and gives him inspiration. „I’ve been interested in music, films, and storytelling my entire life, so I have many influences. I’m not a Christian, but the bible is still a strong influence, partly through Jesus Christ Superstar. I’m not an academic, but Shakespeare is absolutely amazing. I have a fascination with science fiction, for example Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. I admire many British lyricists, such as Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel.“

There is a lot to discover in „White Shadows“. It is an album that is timeless, that needs full attention and will once in the future be named along with many classics. „We had big ambitions for the album. We decided that there shouldn’t be a single weak song or meaningless note. Even so, it surpassed our expectations. One of the feelings we wanted to capture in our sound was a natural groove, the kind you hear in older artists and in classical music. To achieve this, we chose to make a record entirely without a click track. Johan was the perfect drummer for the challenge, and once everyone who plays and sings on the album had added their parts, the result became far more fluid, alive, and dynamic than we could have imagined.“

A COLD PARADISE Unleash Music Video for New Single ‘Are You Holding Me Back?’

With their self-titled debut album on the horizon, modern metal outfit A COLD PARADISE have released a brand-new music video for their latest single, “Are You Holding Me Back?”. The band’s upcoming studio offering will be released on August 28 via PERCEPTION – A Division Of Reigning Phoenix Music.

Fans can already pre-save the album here: https://acp.rpm.link/albumPR

Following the previously released singles, “Are You Holding Me Back?” showcases another powerful side of ACP’s sound. Balancing crushing heaviness with emotional intensity and soaring melodies, the track captures the band’s ability to combine high-voltage energy with deeply personal songwriting. The accompanying music video mirrors this dynamic, underlining the song’s emotional tension while amplifying its raw intensity. Singer Antonio Calanna reveals:

“Some prisons don’t have walls. Sometimes they are built from memories, promises, and feelings we are afraid to let go of. ‘Are You Holding Me Back?’ is about reaching the point where love and pain become impossible to distinguish. It is the voice of someone standing at a crossroads, asking whether the person they love is still walking beside them or quietly holding them back. More than anything, it is a song about courage; the courage to ask difficult questions and face uncomfortable truths.”

A COLD PARADISE is a modern alternative metal band founded in 2025 by Antonio Calanna, known to many metalheads as the former vocalist of All For Metal. The project was born from a desire to emphasize atmosphere, melody, and emotional depth within heavy music, without compromising its force.

Rooted in genuine feeling, A COLD PARADISE builds its sound from the inside out, letting emotion guide both songwriting and production. Heavy riffs collide with expressive melodies, cinematic atmospheres, and carefully woven electronic elements that shape the emotional arc of each song. The band works with a defined collective identity: music, lyrics, and visuals all feed into the same artistic world, where storytelling, contrast, and emotional weight matter as much as the breakdowns. Living in the tension between vulnerability and force, A COLD PARADISE blends modern metal and rock with immersive textures to create a dynamic, evocative, and unmistakably human sound.

Since their formation, A COLD PARADISE have quickly proven themselves as one of the most promising new names in modern metal. Seamlessly blending metalcore, alternative metal and contemporary melodic influences, the band creates a sound that is both crushing and cinematic, equally driven by aggression and vulnerability.

Their upcoming debut album marks an important milestone, presenting a collection of songs that explore themes of inner conflict, personal growth and emotional resilience. Combining massive riffs, memorable hooks and heartfelt lyricism, A Cold Paradise delivers a dynamic and emotionally charged listening experience that highlights the band’s musical identity.

MENTAL CRUELTY Awaken ‘The Serpent of Midgard’ with Crushing New Single + Cinematic Video

📸: Josh Richter

MENTAL CRUELTY unleashes their crushing new single “The Serpent of Midgard.” Diving deeper into Norse mythology, the track tells the tale of Loki’s second child, Jörmungandr, and his legendary final battle with Thor. Blending crushing heaviness with black metal and melodic death metal influences, the song captures their fateful confrontation as the giant serpent rises from the depths. Never wake the giant – or witness the end of the world.

MENTAL CRUELTY about the new single:

“On last year’s ‘Helheim,’ we expanded our instruments beyond typical deathcore fare (guitar, bass, drums and, of course, monstrous vocals) to include folk music’s talharpa, aiding in the telling of Norse mythology’s Hel. It’s only appropriate we continue darkening our sound with more black metal and melodeath inspirations as we tell the story of her brother, Jörmungandr, the titular ‘Serpent of Midgard,’ in his epic ocean battle with his uncle Thor. For those unfamiliar with the folklore, it ends in both of their demises: talk about family issues!

“Musically, we wanted to capture the intensity of the conflict, with our guitarist Nahuel Lozano’s working title of ‘Gojibehe’ summing up key influences. You can guess those, but we’ll spell out the inspiration behind the chunky mid-section and the closest thing we get to a full-on breakdown here: our brothers Signs of the Swarm and the insane tones on their latest album!

“But while we learned from bands we look up to and friends alike musically, sadly, we never learn from ourselves and once again shot the music video in subzero temperatures. The results are worth it—you can see for yourself—but damn, that was cold.”

Following a packed touring schedule across Europe and North America, MENTAL CRUELTY will return to the road later this year for an extensive European headline tour. Joined by Ov Sulfur and Extermination Dismemberment, with Acranius and Sun Eater appearing on select dates, the tour will take the band across 21 cities throughout Europe from late November to December.

Mental Cruelty has been descending into darkness since 2014, when they started as a slamming deathcore band in Karlsruhe, Germany. Since then, they’ve steadily blackened their sound, most hauntingly on 2023’s ‘Zwielicht’ and predecessor ‘A Hill to Die Upon’ (2021). New single “The Serpent of Midgard” and last year’s “Helheim” (both based on Loki’s children from Norse mythology) push the evolution even further, embracing folk metal and melodeath in addition to black metal’s frosty bite.

It’s the kind of genre fluidity that has allowed them to play with Kanonenfieber and Cradle of Filth, in addition to Lorna Shore, Shadow of Intent, Signs of the Swarm, Angelmaker, Synestia, Carnifex, and more. With a forthcoming European headline tour debut, featuring 2024 tourmates Ov Sulfur and Extermination Dismemberment, and hints of more to come, it’s clear a blackened Nacht is coming.

Say, does Loki have any other kids?

GORODA Release New Single + Video ‘Do Something Wrong’, Feat. Bobby Amaru

Posted by tarjavirmakari on July 11, 2026
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: GORODA. Leave a comment

Hard rock band GORODA have unleashed their new single and music video, “Do Something Wrong,” featuring Bobby Amaru of Saliva, available now via Judge & Jury Records.

After GORODA opened for Saliva at a sold-out show earlier this year, the bands connected. The mutual respect and appreciation they developed led them to join forces and create “Do Something Wrong.”

“Our song ‘Do Something Wrong’ showcases our creative potential and highlights the genres in which we particularly excel in. The track features a striking musical break, as well as a collaboration with a band that has inspired us for many years. In many ways, the song is a scream, not so much for help, but rather as a response to the tense situations unfolding in the modern world. Through this piece, we aim to show that there is always another way to act…that things can be done differently,” shares the band.

Bobby Amaru adds, “When they sent me the song idea, the first thing that grabbed me was the message. From the lyrics alone, I knew they were writing for the world, not just for themselves. It carried a powerful message of unity and hope, and I felt connected to it right away. I also have a lot of respect for their work ethic and the passion they put into everything they do, so it was an easy yes for me.”

Lyrically, “Do Something Wrong” challenges the notion that people should be forever defined by where they come from, the mistakes they’ve made, or the history they’ve inherited. Instead, the song emphasizes that what truly matters is where you stand today, what you stand for, and who you choose to stand beside. Through its message, GORODA encourages listeners to connect across differences, reject division, and embrace shared humanity. “Do Something Wrong” captures that spirit while introducing the band to an even broader audience through their collaboration with Bobby Amaru.

Musically, GORODA has carved out a sound all their own. Drawing from influences that span synth-wave, progressive jazz, classical music, and modern hard rock, the band blends technical musicianship with emotionally charged songwriting to create an unmistakable sonic identity. Their songs serve as vehicles for collective reflection, urging society to confront its mistakes and resist the corrupt officials and institutions of power.

“Do Something Wrong” feat. Bobby Amaru of Saliva is available now on all major streaming platforms!
