German blackened death metal masters THULCANDRA have announced their first-ever tour in Mexico! By the end of last year, the band released their much-acclaimed, first live album and the follow-up to their latest studio offering “Hail The Abyss”. “Live Demise” was recorded live in 2011 at a hometown show in Munich, Germany, and features true gems that the band hasn’t performed in more than a decade. The record sees THULCANDRA celebrating the first chapter and early days of the band. Now, after countless tours and festival shows across Europe and North America, THULCANDRA will finally make their first live appearances in Mexico! Tickets are now on sale at: https://www.thetruethulcandra.com/tour/

THULCANDRA frontman Steffen Kummerer comments: “We are excited to announce our first ever tour in Mexico in March 2025. We prepared a setlist with songs of all five studio albums in favour of our loyal fans supporting the band since more than 20 years but never got a chance to see the band live yet. See you in March at a venue near you!”

THULCANDRA’s rise to power ignited when the four-piece unleashed their debut album, “Fallen Angel’s Dominion”, upon metaldom in 2010. Followed by their 2011 masterpiece, “Under a Frozen Sun”, “Live Demise” contains brutal-as-hell classics from both records, like “Black Flags Of Hate”, “In Blood And Fire” and “The Spirit Of The Night”, aptly capturing the spirit and high-voltage energy of both the crowd and band. Ragers such as “Night Eternal” and “Fallen Angel’s Dominion” perfectly showcase the band’s raw and intense performances in their early days, and prove how THULCANDRA has quickly stepped up as one of the leading bands of their genre!

Due to the pandemic, which was subsequently followed by their latest, much-acclaimed studio album “Hail The Abyss” (released in May 2023 via Napalm Records HERE), “Live Demise” could not be released alongside THULCANDRA‘s 20th anniversary as originally planned. Now, with mixing and mastering by Dan Swanö (Katatonia, Edge Of Sanity, Dissection) and cover artwork designed by Herbert Lochner, this very special release is available in only strictly limited editions exclusively via Napalm Records and at THULCANDRA‘s upcoming live shows.

REVENGE Defy Modern Black Metal on “Violation.Strife.Abominate” Album, Out Today

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 31, 2025
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: revenge. Leave a comment

They’ve always forged a solitary path, but on their seventh album, Revenge reach a new level of conflict. Violation.Strife.Abominate crowns J. Read and his long-standing partner Vermin atop the edges of black metal. The Canadian veterans of chaos lay waste to the degenerate kneeling swine of humanity with an impenetrable wall of  primal screams, frantically scraping guitars and scum-crushing bass.

Violation.Strife.Abominate is released today, Friday, January 31, and you can hear all 12 flamethrowing tracks by listening to the full album stream on the Season of Mist YouTube channel.

Tracklist:
1. Violation Unit (Balaclava Directive) (3:16) [LISTEN]
2. Treason Disrupt (All Are Guilty) (5:01)

11. Liars’ Rope (Degeneracy Fallen) (1:17)
12. Swine Tumult (On All Fours) (5:15)
Full runtime: 43:54

Canadian chaos black metal veterans Revenge return with Violation.Strife.Abominate, a 12-song crown of elitism atop the head of a 25-year existence dominating the outer fringes of the black metal sphere.

J. Read has once again recruited his long-standing partner in chaos, Vermin, to create an impenetrable wall of frenzied guitars and scum decapitating bass to death march alongside the sorrow-filled landscape of nuclear percussion and savage primal screams threaded throughout the songs, forming a militant manifesto of unrelenting violence and misery-inducing hatred.

Almost five years after the last Revenge album, Strike.Smother.Dehumanize, the band continues to forge a solitary path with Violation.Strife.Abominate, once more defying what is considered modern black metal by reaching a new level of conflict creating abrasiveness in both sound and ideology.

This release marks the band’s seventh full-length barrage against humanity and its degenerate kneeling swine who continue to embrace the poison of the enslaver as they blindly crawl toward their own demise while clinging to the decaying scraps they call existence.

The feeble mockery mankind has become must be systematically burnt to the ground in order for it to return to its once-glorious past, and Violation.Strife.Abominate serves as the soundtrack to that monumental event: No Scene, No Brotherhood, No Remorse.

Line-up:
J. Read –  Drums, Vocals, Effects
Vermin –  Session guitarist, Bass, Effects

Melodic rockers CARE OF NIGHT are pleased to share the release of the new album “Live At Sweden Rock Festival”, scheduled for release on March 28th, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl.

Pre-order “Live At Sweden Rock Festival” HERE

To give the audience a taste of the live recording, they share the first single “Heart Belongs” and its accompanying video, available today.

The band comments on the new release, by saying: “It feels great to release a live album, like all our musical heroes did in the 70’s and 80’s. Sweden Rock Festival is an institution when it comes to rock and metal music in Sweden. To be asked to play with Care of Night was an honour and something we’ve dreamed about since childhood. Most of the band has been yearly visitors to the festival for many years and it was an incredible feeling to experience it from the inside. Huge thanks to Sweden Rock and the outstanding audience for showing such massive support. We hope to be back there soon and that this album will transport you to great concert memories and warm festival nights!”

About the first single, they add: “Heart Belongs is one of the tracks we just have to play live. Greatly demanded by fans and full of energy and power. Written long before the debut EP, it is actually the oldest song still played by the band. An amazing show closer!”

Care of Night is one of the most gifted bands playing classic ’80s melodic rock of the current scene. They have their own taste for strong hooks, big arrangements and a lot of feeling is the core of the band’s approach to their personal sound. Add to this a slightly progressive feel in their songs, while never losing their melodic touch.

Following the release of their third album “Reconnected”, their first for Frontiers, the band returned to the stage for a very special occasion. They had the honor to be invited to play in front of more than 15,000 people at Sweden Rock Festival!

The band took the chance to record their performance and, together with the label, it was decided to release the tapes as they showed a great and new side of the band’s sound.

To round up the release the band offers as a special present 2 original demos from when they just started to find their sound! Get ready for a delightful listen from start to finish, and wait until the band comes on stage soon!

LACUNA COIL’s Cristina Scabbia Recalls Working w/ Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine

The Metal Voice recently interviewed Lacuna Coil Singer Cristina Scabbia.

Scabbia talked about the bands upcoming studio album Sleepless Empire which will be released  February 14 2025 via Century Media. Plus she talks about technology, Social media and recalls working with Dave Mustaine on A Tout le Monde which she contributed vocals back in 2007 on a remake of the song on the Megadeth’s album United Abominations.

When asked about the new album Sleepless Empire musical direction
“It’s probably a very balanced record that brings you stuff from the past but it’s very present and future orientated. It’s a weird mixture that brings more heavy stuff because that’s what we like. Instead of going softer we’re going the other way because that’s what we like for personal taste and  I think it’s working really well. The songs that we put out are having a great feedback and we’re happy.”

When asked how they go about choosing Death and clean metal vocals on their songs
“There are some parts that are calling your voices. I mean Andrea (Ferro) has a very strong, very powerful voice that makes sense in the aggressive parts and the heaviest parts of the songs. My voice is more  angelic, epic, melodic in a way so obviously it helps more to open up some parts and make them even more dreamy or atmospheric. We don’t sit down and share vocal parts getting jealous about oh you sung three choruses and I sung four verses. We  don’t care. It’s the song calling for your (type of) voice and if you look at it the voices are instruments that you can add to every composition.”

When asked about her singing with Dave Mustaine on A Tout Le Monde in 2007 on Megadeth’s United Abominations
” I remember we didn’t meet before the recording. All I had was the original version that I already loved, so I had to create from scratch harmonization’s and embellishments. I worked with (producer) Andy Sneap. I went to the studio and I stayed there for a couple of days. I arrived in the evening. I spent one day recording everything that I had in mind or Andy had in mind. So we gave all the recorded material to  Dave and Megadeth and then they did the mixing the way they wanted to. But I basically re-sung exactly what Dave was singing. I did all the harmonization’s I did some oohh and ahhh without Really knowing what they wanted from it because the communication was made through email. When my management asked me to sing with them I said immediately yes because it was a such a cool experience and a privilege and I love that song. But then after a while I went to Los Angeles and they were filming the video (for the song) and that’s exactly when I met (Dave Mustaine and Megadeth) for the very first time. The video was filmed in two days.  I did all my filming in the second day and the first one was the band performance, so I went to the place where they were filming and I started to talk to Dave and he was super cool and super kind. Then we went on tour a couple of times together. I didn’t know what to expect (meeting Dave Musatine) because you know many people have different ideas of Dave so I was just like oh my God I was  almost afraid to meet him and he was a super gentle sweetheart.  I remember the first day on tour with him he left a bottle of champagne with a us and a note ,thank you for being on tour with us. It was super nice, he we asked him to take a picture with all the band and he was happy to do it. I remember that he only got pissed with me once.  I remember that  he threw  a party after  one of the gig, it was just like okay let’s organize  a margarita party something like this for all the group, of all the Tour, all the bands., to create an event that would bring us all together. I remember that there was metal music blasting but after a while I got tired because I love metal music but to me party music it’s another type of music sometimes. So I was just like okay let’s change a little bit let’s put you know I don’t know from music from the 70s and or some disco music and he just looked at me like so pissed. (laughs). But he did give me one of his guitars to thank me for singing a song with him. I remember that he came with two guitars, one was the angel of death and the other one was a guitar with  all artwork of United Abomination and  he asked me to choose.  I was just like  I am in one of the albums but the other one is the Angel of death! “

ROSETTA STONE Return with New Single ‘Don’t Fear The Reaper’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 31, 2025
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: ROSETTA STONE. Leave a comment

One of the longest surviving of all the second wave goth bands, ROSETTA STONE return with a sensational new single, trailing the release of their latest full length, Nothing Is Sacred, with a song that truly lives up to the album’s title.  Nothing is sacred, and that includes half-century old Blue Oyster Cult classic rockers.

The opening track on the album, “Don’t Fear The Reaper,” of course, requires no introduction.

Even if someone has avoided ever hearing the original, they need still to negotiate covers from as far afield as Apollo 440, Goo Goo Dolls, Heaven 17 and the unmatchable union of Lydia Lunch and Clint Ruin!

From the moment Rosetta Stone’s version kicks in, however, it’s clear that they have taken the song to a whole new level.  That familiar guitar pattern – described by frontman Porl King as “one of music’s greatest riffs of all time” – is utterly sublimated by the sonorous seductivity of his so-understated vocal, and the lyrics take on whole new determination, too.  And, if that’s not enough, King reveals something else about this new version.

“I think perhaps the most controversial aspect of this track was deciding not to include a cowbell.”

Rosetta Stone’’s second album in less than a year, a lightning fast successor to 2024’s acclaimed Under The Weather, Nothing Is Sacred kicks off with audacity, then – and it doesn’t let up.

Rosetta Stone translate, too, the music of Soundgarden, Cream, Black Sabbath, The Beatles and Fleetwood Mac (a deliciously dark reinvention of “The Chain” – you will never describe Mac as an AOR band again!), all piling up alongside a pounding, near martial ride aboard Hawkwind’s “Silver Machine” – goths in space indeed!

Who needs cowbell when you’ve got all that?

SUN AFTER DARK Sign to Hammerheart Records + Tease Upcoming Debut Album “Tatkraft”

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 31, 2025

Hammerheart Records is proud to announce a collaboration with Sun After Dark, a new band led by Benjamin König (ex-Lunar Aurora). Sun After Dark will release their debut album Tatkraft in the Summer of 2025 via the label. A first glimpse of things to come can be found HERE.

Hailing from Bavaria, Germany, Sun After Dark is best described as progressive dark metal with elements of black and atmospheric metal. However, it is regarded as something fresh, new, and unheard of.

Benjamin comments on the signing: “It’s a great honor for me to be signed to Hammerheart Records! Having made music since around 1993, I’ve been familiar with various Hammerheart Records releases from the very beginning, and the fact that I can now be part of this great label is truly fantastic! With my project, Sun After Dark, I blend both old and modern stylistic elements on my debut album, Tatkraft, which aligns well with Hammerheart Records‘ style, as they represent both old-school material and modern music. I would like to thank Guido and the entire team, and I look forward to working together!“

The band features experienced musicians who have made their mark in groups such as Empyrium and Dark Fortress. Adding to the excitement, the production quality is phenomenal. Tatkraft (German for “drive/energy”) was recorded by Victor Bullok (of Tryptikon) at Woodshed Studios (known for Tryptikon and Dark Fortress) and sounds flawless.

For fans of: Rammstein, Celtic Frost, The Vision Bleak, Empyrium

Sun After Dark is the project of Benjamin König from Germany, best known as a founding member of the black metal band Lunar Aurora (1994–2012). As the band’s primary composer, he was responsible for nine albums and various compilations. Now, with Sun After Dark, König will release his debut album, Tatkraft—a German word meaning drive, energy, or moxie.

The music on Tatkraft blends modern elements with black metal, dark atmospheres, heavy guitars, and intense, evocative moods, with a hint of mythology woven in. Life is made up of stories, experiences, and defining moments—mastering it often requires Tatkraft. This album explores those experiences, shaped and expressed with that same spirit. The lyrics are in English, German, and Bavarian dialect, a nod to König’s roots in Upper Bavaria.

Tatkraft was produced by Victor Bullok (Triptykon) at Woodshed Studio in autumn 2024. Following this collaboration, Thomas Helm and Benjamin König have decided to continue Sun After Dark as a duo. However, the project remains a studio endeavor, with no plans for live performances—each member is active in other well-known bands where they can be seen on stage.

Line up
Benjamin König: Guitars, Bass, Keys
Thomas Helm: Vocals
Matthias Jell: Vocals
Martin Falkenstein: Vocals
Matthias Landes: Drums
Katrin Rohde: Strings
