JASON CHARLES MILLER Releases Deep Purple-Inspired ‘I Need A Rescue’ Video

Jason Charles Miller has released his official music video for “I Need A Rescue,” the second video from his new album ‘Knives In The Dark.’ The song and video features guest keyboardist and vocalist Ellis Hall, best known for his work with Tower Of Power, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Patti LaBelle, to name just a few.

“The song ‘I Need a Rescue’ accidentally became a tribute to Deep Purple – Mark 3 in particular, the David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes lineup that did the albums ‘Burn’ and ‘Stormbringer’,” Miller says of the track. “I’ve often said that ‘Burn’ has been one of the most influential albums in my life, and I think it’s one of the best rock albums in history, period! Once Gary [Potter, guitarist] came up with the riff for ‘Rescue,’ the song basically wrote itself. I had become friendly with Ellis Hall through knowing his family, and he’s an absolute legend.  What he added to the recording, with his B3 playing and amazing vocals, really took it over the top.”

“I wanted to have a video where we are all just jamming the song, really vibing with it, so having my live band be in the video along with Ellis was super important to me,” he continues of the video itself. “Our director Andrew Fogel found the perfect location, making us the ultimate ‘garage band.’  Talk about going back to your roots! You’ll notice a purple tinge to the entire video, as an easter egg and a nod to the biggest influencers of the song!”

Released this summer on One Opportunity Records, ‘Knives In The Dark’ will be Miller’s first solo album to see physical release in Japan, where it drops November 22 via a joint partnership with Ward Records. The Japanese CD features Miller’s acoustic cover of Iron Maiden’s “Wasted Years” as a bonus track.

Spin hailed Miller’s “gritty rock and country hybrid” and named him one of “10 Emerging Artists Shaping the Future of Sound” in a November feature, with Rolling Stone, Forbes, and even Nerdist and Comic Book Resources coming on board to feature the music and gaming crossover’s latest musical campaign.

An accomplished southern rock and Americana-inspired artist, ‘Knives’ is Miller’s fifth full-length solo album, and first album with One Opportunity Records. He has also released multiple EPs and singles, and a host of high-profile soundtrack and theme music work for games and shows including ‘Critical Role,’ ‘Metal Gear Rising,’ ‘Cyberpunk 2077,’ ‘Legends of the Multiverse’ and AEW professional wrestler Brandon Cutler.

Miller’s vocal contributions to the Final Fantasy video game franchise have made him a fan favorite to players of the game, and he is featured regularly at Final Fantasy Fan Fest events worldwide, including officially sanctioned tour stops in China, Japan and South Korea this fall, and an upcoming appearance November 28-29 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he will be featured as part of ‘Echoes of Eorzea: A Decade of Final Fantasy XIV In Symphony’.

Widely recognized as the frontman and founder of the rock band Godhead, where he toured the world with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Rammstein, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Slipknot and Korn frontman Jonathan Davis, Miller transitioned to a solo artist with the release of his ‘Last To Go Home’ EP in 2009.

Seamlessly blending the worlds of rock, southern rock, Americana and country, his solo career has seen him share stages with greats including Billy Ray Cyrus, Alan Jackson, Eric Church, Toby Keith, Ashley McBryde, .38 Special, Allman Betts Band and more.

Legendary black metal icon ABBATH has partnered with renowned photographer JEREMY SAFFER for an exclusive print photo series! The limited edition prints were shot by Saffer and signed by Abbath; they can now be purchased HERE.

Jeremy Saffer comments, “I am elated to announce I have teamed up with the legendary Abbath Doom Occulta for an autographed print series. Abbath is an icon of icons and without question one of my favorite people to work with. His image is as iconic as his music and I am extremely fortunate to have had multiple opportunities to contribute to his visual legacy working together in photo shoots. (with more photos on the way soon!) The signed prints are from our shoots in New England over the past 10 years and are printed on Pearl paper which looks absolutely incredible giving it a metallic look with crystals in the paper. There are also super limited (4 of each) larger museum quality Hahnemühle Fine Art Giclée Agave prints which are just absolutely unreal in image, color, texture, and quality. There are an extremely limited amount of hand signed prints available, each were hand signed by Abbath in silver sharpie in Boston earlier this year. Its such a massive honor to work with such a legend and to team up on a very rare autograph print series with Abbath is beyond words.”

Behind the scenes footage of Saffer’s shoots with Abbath can be viewed HERE.

“In Absentia Lucis” is the third full length album by Blackened Sludge / Experimental Noise band LACOLPA, and it will be released on December 19th, 2024 on digital and a special slipcase CD edition containing a 12-page booklet.

The album track “Where God Lives” is now premiering at No Clean Singing. Stream it HERE.

Four years exactly after their sophomore album “Post Tenebras Lux”, which was released to critical acclaim back in 2020, LACOLPA are back with their highly anticipated third release.

“In Absentia Lucis” is titanically heavy and viscerally powerful, capable of channeling both oppression and aggression into an abysmal vortex of negativity and pain.

A pitch-black magma of suffering in music, combining Sludge, Doom and Dissonant Black Metal with some of the most painful soundscapes of improvisational Noise and Drone.

Thematically, this new chapter in the band discography continues to outline LACOLPA‘s philosophy of pain, deeply rooted in the human condition of eternal suffering.

After having explored themes like guilt, awareness of own mortality and the condition of pain which inevitably grips our existence, “In Absentia Lucis” closes the circle by bringing back the reflection on our own condition of impotence.

We are lost in the immense solitude of our Ego, masters of Nothing.
We are the Lords of Nothingness.
Lost in Our Vast Loneliness.

Tracklist:

1 Our Vast Loneliness (10:53)
2 Lords of Nothingness (8:00)
3 Nothing is True (5:40)
4 Where God Lives (10:42)

For fans of: Thaw, Abruptum, Coil.

LACOLPA is a Blackened Sludge / Experimental Noise band from Alessandria (Italy) that experiments with different stratifications of sonic nightmares. Active since 2014, they have released 3 full length albums as well as a few demos and singles.

Both “Mea Maxima Culpa” (2017) and “Post Tenebras Lux” (2020) were released to critical acclaim and ended up being featured in many album of the year charts by the likes of Cvlt Nation and The Wire Magazine amongst many others.

On December 19th, 2024, Brucia Records will release “In Absentia Lucis”, their highly anticipated third full length album.
