Helsinki-based progressive heavy rock band 3rd Trip returns today with their second full-length album, Mosaic. Their debut, Scale of Confusion, was released in 2017, making this follow-up a highly anticipated arrival nearly ten years in the making.

Alongside the album release, a music video has been unveiled for the closing track, Get Along and Proceed. The band’s sound has evolved since their debut, moving in a more progressive and experimental direction, as their new lyric video demonstrates.

“We’ve been crafting this album carefully since 2020,” says guitarist Marko Puhakka. “The songs took shape over several years before the full picture finally fell into place. Tool has been a major inspiration for us, and perhaps we’ve fallen into the same rabbit hole with album-making, as it always takes the time it needs to be truly ready.”

Drummer Joona Mikkonen-Pakkala adds:
“We also decided to release a lyric video alongside the album. We’re thrilled with the result, it’s full of emotion. It was created by my longtime friend Mark Hobson, who also handled the live visuals for our first album.”

Mosaic was recorded in spring 2024 at Sound Ateljee Studio in Lohja, with recording, mixing, and mastering handled by Sammy Roiha. A limited edition vinyl pressing of 200 copies will also be available later this spring via the band’s Bandcamp page.

Finnish metal band Negaatio is set to release their debut album ‘Mieleni Murtama’ on April 10th 2026 via Inverse Records. The fourth and final single ‘Mania’ is unleashed today and it’s available on all major streaming services: https://push.fm/fl/negaatio-mania

Jani (vocals) and Petrus (bass, backing vocals) share some background on the track ”Mania”:

Petrus: “We all have the potential in life to drive ourselves absolutely stir-crazy over some hellish obsession. It might not show on the outside if you build concrete walls around your inner world—then suddenly, you find yourself running head-first into them, driven by a force you can’t control.”

Jani: “A fake smile might stretch across your face, but you’re still being strangled by your own necktie as your inner world and obsessions push you to the brink of madness without a moment’s rest.”

Petrus: “In a situation like that, a person can push themselves right to the edge, and it’s terrifying. It’s not just your health that’s being weighed, but your entire reality and humanity. These are the themes we wanted to portray in ‘Mania.’ ”

–Composed by Jani-Petteri Myllylä, Eero Jaakkola, Petrus Markkinen, Waltteri Santala

Founded at the end of 2022, Negaatio has brought in the blink of an eye original tones to the Finnish metal scene, with a fierce and crushing touch.

The five-man group, who have focused their activities in Tampere, create a wide mood palette with their music, which has nuances of hopelessness, rage, and reflection.

In the music of Negaatio, extreme and repulsive topics are not ignored but confronted in all their horror, almost compulsively.

The heavy playing transports the listener towards a cracking state of mind.

The band has received praise from numerous performances and won bronze at the Emergenza 2025 finals in the Tampere region.

Negaatio firmly believes in its own vision, doing it with the purest passion and offering the heavy metal populace unexpected live energy, a sense of danger, and iron-like skill.

Canadian groove metallers THREAT SIGNAL reveal another new song from their upcoming album – first in nearly a decade – “Revelations”, set for release on March 27th via Agonia Records. The single “Exercise the Demon” debuts today on streaming platforms and is being premiered through a full band playthrough video, available here:

Nine long years after “Disconnect” (2017), the Canadian metal powerhouse, THREAT SIGNAL, re-emerges to blur the lines between brutal intensity, energetic delivery and melodic hooks that pierce deep. Born out of personal struggle and inner chaos, “Revelations” weaves an intricate tapestry of tight instrumentation, ornate guitar work, and engaging vocals. It envelopes the listener in its pulsating torrent of emotions, reflective lyrics haunted by deep-seated demons, and immersive songwriting that personifies THREAT SIGNAL’s leading themes of resilience and strife within.

The band’s characteristic blend of metal involves elements of technical thrash metal, melodic death metal, groove metal, and metalcore, distinguished by dynamic vocals, technical proficiency and guitar solos full of flair. Apart from long-standing members – vocalist  Jon Howard, bassist Pat Kavanagh and guitarist Travis Montgomery (ex-Jeff Loomis) – “Revelations” sees the band reunite with drummer Joey Muha, and welcomes guitarist Oswin Wong.

“Revelations” was mastered by Grammy Award winning engineer Tod Jensen (Iron Maiden, Metallica, AC/DC) at the renowned Sterling Sound studio in USA, and mixed, recorded, produced, and engineered by vocalist Jon Howard at his Woodward Avenue studio in Canada. The cover artwork was created by Travis Smith (Death, Cynic, King Diamond).

“Revelations” marks the band’s fifth album since the critically acclaimed debut “Under Reprisal” (2006), which won the Canadian Recording Of The Year Award at Hamilton Music Awards. Their installments – also including “Vigilance” (2009), “Threat Signal” (2011) and “Disconnect” (2016) – have met with unrelenting hype, with each generating growing interest within the metal community. Combining the complexity of thrash metal, with a more contemporary groove sound involving technical rhythms and melodic musical passage, THREAT SIGNAL has expanded its recognizability on an international scale. The band’s last three albums have charted on Billboard and have witnessed the group share the stage with Children Of Bodom,  Soilwork, Motorhead, Saxon,  Opeth,  Kataklysm, Hatebreed, Epica or Arch Enemy. Their most recent treks have taken them to Europe (with Vader and Hate Eternal), North America (with Sirenia) and their homeland Canada, with a highly energetic performance that matches their potential and intensity.

Modern metal collective A COLD PARADISE return with their crushing new video single “Impatient,” continuing to shape a sound defined by weight, atmosphere, and cinematic scope. Founded in 2025 by vocalist Antonio Calanna (formerly All For Metal) and signed to PERCEPTION – A Division of Reigning Phoenix Music, the project represents a modern vision of epic yet heavy music where emotional intensity and sonic power go hand in hand.

“We’re more than impatient to finally share this song with you. The song is about living in that tension between patience and desire: holding on, trusting the process, and being ready when the moment finally arrives. We hope you feel that same anticipation with us, and that this track makes you just as impatient to hear what’s coming next,” Calanna reveals. “Impatient defines the direction we want to take with A Cold Paradise. This is the sound, the energy, and the path we’ve been aiming for from the start.”

“Impatient” highlights the multi-layered identity of A COLD PARADISE. The project unites Antonio Calanna’s distinctive, wild vocal style with a modern and youthful sound, supported by a strong artistic cast to form a genre-bending live experience built on heavy riffs, haunting melodies, cinematic textures and electronic soundscapes; ready to take the modern metal world by storm!

In March, A COLD PARADISE will bring their powerful new material to the stage for the first time during a run of headlining dates, the “Weekend Paradise”, showcasing their evolving artistic identity and offering audiences an exclusive preview of the forthcoming album. Tickets are available at www.ursulaz.com/weekendparadise. This will be the very first opportunity to experience A COLD PARADISE live – an event not to be missed.

About A COLD PARADISE:

A COLD PARADISE is a modern alternative metal band founded in 2025 by Antonio Calanna (All For Metal vocalist until 2026), signed to Perception – A Division of Reigning Phoenix Music. The project was born from a desire to emphasize atmosphere, melody, and emotional depth within heavy music, without compromising its force. Rooted in genuine feeling, A COLD PARADISE builds its sound from the inside out, letting emotion guide both songwriting and production. Heavy riffs collide with expressive melodies, cinematic atmospheres, and carefully woven electronic elements that shape the emotional arc of each song. The band works with a defined collective identity: music, lyrics, and visuals all feed into the same artistic world, where storytelling, contrast, and emotional weight matter as much as the breakdowns. Living in the tension between vulnerability and force, A COLD PARADISE blends modern metal and rock with immersive textures to create a dynamic, evocative, and unmistakably human sound.

A COLD PARADISE Artist Line-Up:
Antonio Calanna | vocals
Paolo Avanzini | guitars, vocals
Luca Birocco | guitars

TRÖJAN Sign with Fireflash Records + Announce New Line-Up & EP

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 1, 2026

UK metallers TRÖJAN were originally formed in 1982 by guitarist Pete Wadeson, and after various demos and line-up changes, with Pete remaining the only original member, this often tagged NWOBHM band eventually signed with Roadrunner Records.

Their first full length album “Chasing The Storm” was released in 1985 and was very well received by the press and fans especially in mainland Europe and Japan. It’s seen by many to have its sound as being rooted in the NWOBHM but the speed/power metal vibes plus super-fast solos and melodic guitar parts that run throughout the album can’t be denied and still impress to this day. So much so this powerful album has more than stood the test of time and is regarded even now by many as a classic.

In 2022 came the re-issue of “Chasing The Storm”, as well as “Killing The World”, from the follow-up band TALIÖN, via Sonic Age Records/Cult Metal Classics. In 2024, Dissonance released a 5-CD Boxset entitled “The Complete Tröjan & Taliön Recordings ’84 – ’90”, which also included live shows and tons of demo recordings.

Obviously, Covid put live work on hold, and it wasn’t until 2023 that TRÖJAN led by the ever determined guitar maestro Wadeson went on to play the prestigious “Keep It True”-Festival in Germany and “Muskelrock” in Sweden in that very same year. During 2024 the band extensively toured mainland Europe appearing at even more prestigious festivals including the “Helicon Metal Festival” (Poland), “Headbangers Open Air” (Germany), “Mearfest” (UK), “Into Battle Fest” (Greece), “Old Grave Festival” (Romania), plus their final show of that year at the “Metalcova Festival” (Spain).

On paper and on stages all seemed to be going extremely well for the band although behind the scenes tensions within the band were rising. However, after the dust settled, Wadeson once again determinedly looked for exciting and accomplished replacement musicians to, in his words “put together the finest Trojan line up to date” and after working on the basis for new material to be released the band are back bigger and better than ever before.

The new line-up consists of Pete Wadeson (Guitar & backing vocals), Emmanuel Thorsen (Vocals), Luke Entwistle (Bass & backing vocals) and ex-TAILGUNNER drummer extraordinaire Sammy Starwood beating the skins.

This brings us to the present and after submitting demos to our new label, we are proud to say we welcome the mighty and unstoppable TRÖJAN to the roster of FIREFLASH RECORDS (WOLF, HOLY MOSES, MASTER MASSIVE a.o.) Pete had this to say: “I’ve always been well aware of the label and it’s accomplishments, and I’m honoured and extremely proud to have signed with Fireflash Records and can’t thank Markus enough for the faith he has shown towards us. Also I have to mention my debt of gratitude to Holger Mahlstedt for his unwavering devotion and believe in the band’s abilities and with Markus and the Fireflash organisation on board, I feel more confident than ever that we’ll finally deliver what our fans and metalheads fully deserve and have long been waiting for.”

Markus Wosgien from Fireflash Records adds: “I always loved the underdogs and Heavy Metal history is full of it. Both TRÖJAN and TALION delivered Speed Metal milestones and disappeared way too early. I am sure they had so much more to say and deliver. Seeing them live at “Keep It True” was a special moment, afterwards Holger made the contact to the band – and here we go. The first demo recordings of new written material sound simply amazing and will soon be recorded properly. I was also more than happy to see Sammy joining the band on drums, with whom we worked on the first TAILGUNNER releases. He is the perfect match for TRÖJAN and our goal is to release a first EP by the end of the year.”

TRÖJAN live:
18.07.2026 – Tilburg – Tilburg Metal Fest (NL)
26.07.2026 – Worthing – Hammerdown Metal Festival (UK)
04.09.2026 – Breda – Sound Dog (NL)
05.09.2026 – Amstelveen – Heavy Metal Maniacs Festival (NL)
More dates soon

Season of Mist Signs THE GHOULSTARS for Release of Debut Album

Season of Mist is excited to welcome The Ghoulstars.

Despite their ghostly appearance, The Ghoulstars are a collection of real talent. Axeman Markus “Daddy Ghoul” Laakso and goose-bumping drummer Toni “Ghoulio” Ronkainen shared a past life together in the Top Ten charting Finnish death-doom band Kuolemanlaakso. Bassist Markus “Hella Ghoul” Makkonen formerly haunted the low end for Season of Mist labelmates Hooded Menace while moonhowler Arthur “LL Ghoul A” Thure croons for the stoner rockers Thermate.

Over the last four years, The Ghoulstars have captivated press and tantalized crowds in their native haunt of Finland without releasing a single bloody track.  Until now! The skeletal supergroup of horror punks are about to raise the curtain from their monstrously catchy debut album, which mashes together everything that blew their minds as kids: surf beats, headbanging metal riffs, shout-along punk rock choruses and B-movie horror.

“We can’t wait to unleash our delightful horrors upon the world with Season of Mist, a revered label with a sharp eye for unique talent”, Laakso says. “Our upcoming debut album is a love letter to ‘80s aesthetics, B-movies, huge riffs, big choruses, punk rock, metal, surprising curveballs and the sheer joy of all the pieces falling into the right places. As my long-time collaborator and the album’s mixing engineer V. Santura of the mighty Triptykon told me: ‘The record is unique, catchy and a really fun listen’. Move over, Rover, and let the Ghouls take over!”

Watch the teaser for the fun and freaky ode to ‘80s coming-of-age campus comedies “Too Ghoul for School”:

Howling werewolves, tormented vampires and grave robbers from outer space. Meet The Ghoulstars, a fresh – and frightening – blast from the past.

The Ghoulstars arrive with a coffin full of critical acclaim and commercially successful albums under their belts. Axeman and group mastermind Markus “Daddy Ghoul” Laakso and goose-bumping drummer Toni “Ghoulio” Ronkainen shared a past life together in the Top Ten charting Finnish death-doom band Kuolemanlaakso. Bassist Markus “Hella Ghoul” Makkonen formerly haunted the low end for Season of Mist labelmates Hooded Menace while moonhowler Arthur “LL Ghoul A” Thure croons for the stoner rockers Thermate.

Since invading the land of the living in 2021, The Ghoulstars have captivated press and tantalized crowds in their native haunt of Finland without releasing a single bloody track. Until now! The horror punks are about to raise the cobwebbed curtain from their blockbuster debut album, which mashes together The Misfits, White Zombie, Entombed, B-horror movies, ‘80s aesthetics and the fifty shades of Volbeat into a monstrously catchy mash-up. No pop-culture tome is too sacred for these ghouls to summon back to life.
