The Zac Schulze Gang’s latest single, a cover of the late blues guitarist Tony Dowler’s fiery reimagining of Robert Johnson’s classic “Hellhounds On My Trail,” has won Classic Rock’s Tracks of the Week.

Says Classic Rock – “In an age when rock bands have largely forgotten how to swing, along comes Hellhounds On My Trail by Gillingham rockers the Zac Schulze Gang, and it swings hard, pounding and pummelling and puffing its chest out.”

“Hellhounds On My Trail” is the first new music from the British trio’s forthcoming sophomore album slated for release by Ruf Records in February 2027. It’s also the first new music since the band’s critically acclaimed 2025 debut album Straight To It.

Recorded live with long-time producer Ian Sadler, “Hellhounds On My Trail” detonates with blistering guitars, breakneck momentum, and the raw chemistry that has made the Zac Schulze Gang one of Britain’s most talked-about rock ’n’ roll bands.

Led by guitarist and vocalist Zac Schulze, whose fearless playing fuses punk bite, blues fire, and classic rock swagger, with drummer Ben Schulze and bassist Ant Greenwell driving the charge, the trio delivers a hook-driven, hard-hitting rush that hits with the force of their live show.

“Hellhounds On My Trail” tore into the Zac Schulze Gang’s world when they were invited to unleash it at the Rory Gallagher Festival in Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands.

“We were first introduced to the song when our friend Petra Burns asked us to perform it at the Rory Gallagher Festival in Holland,” says Zac Schulze. “Every time we perform it, it evolves—we improvise and discover something new. The recorded version is our best attempt to capture that live energy while paying tribute to Tony Dowler, who wrote such a brilliant song. It really sums up where we are as a band right now.”

Hailing from Gillingham, Kent, the Zac Schulze Gang cut their teeth on the UK’s DIY circuit before breaking through with a standout appearance at the Rory Gallagher Tribute Festival in 2022. Since then, they’ve become one of Europe’s hardest-working young bands, playing more than 250 shows a year, appearing at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival, and earning Best Emerging Blues Band honours at the UK Blues Awards in 2024, followed by Young Artist of the Year in 2025.

Their single, “I Won’t Do This Anymore,” broke through on the UK’s leading classic rock radio station, Planet Rock, where it powered onto the coveted A-List for eight weeks. Previous singles “Woman” and “The Rocker” started the momentum surging with extensive airplay, as the band’s rising radio profile was matched by a growing wave of enthusiastic critical acclaim.

Classic Rock praised their “upbeat, ’70s-ified blues rock with a few enticing twists and a roughened Rory Gallagher-esque edge.” Rock and Blues Muse said, “the trio doesn’t mess around with niceties, preferring to play the kind of blues-infused rock’n’roll that grabs your throat and doesn’t let go,” while Blues Matters declared them “destined for blues rock glory.”

With “Hellhounds On My Trail,” the Zac Schulze Gang take another thrilling leap forward, pushing their momentum onto a bigger international stage. This fall, the band will ignite North America with their electrifying live show, joining Samantha Fish and Tab Benoit on tour and introducing U.S. audiences to one of the UK’s most compelling new rock exports.

Brooklyn-based noise rock/punk outsiders FOREIGN BODY have released their latest song ‘Libertines’ – another preview of the band’s caustic second LP, Libertine, set to drop via Brutal Panda Records on 11th September.

With the new song/video premiere, the band reveal, “Buying prostitutes and an easy exchange of meat. An ode to those who traffic in human lives at all levels and rungs of existence. Dumb women and sexual market failures meet each other on a race to the bottom.”

FOREIGN BODY play raw, hideous, and vulgar music emblematic of the seedy underbelly of yesterday’s New York City – where sex workers walked the streets freely, rubble and decay were prevalent, drugs were readily available, and every businessman’s briefcase contained a loaded gun. The quartet spin jet-black yarns that polite society would rather have swept under the rug, soundtracking them with jaw-clenching and furious mid-tempo punk exploding with fresh ideas. Born from a cross-continental collaboration between Austria and Québec (Canada), Black Metal trio DÉTRESSE have announced their second full-length album, “Misères”, set for release on October 9, 2026, via Vendetta Records. The announcement is accompanied by the release of the album’s first single, “Verrottet”, offering a first glimpse into the band’s latest work.

Speaking about the track, the band comments: ”Verrottet is the first single from our upcoming album Misères. German for ‘rotten’, the title reflects the song’s uncompromising vision of humanity at its core: corrupted, lost, and consumed by its own decay. With no hope of redemption, its only fate is an inevitable, self-inflicted demise.”

Following the foundation laid by their 2025 debut “Pessimismes”, “Misères” continues DÉTRESSE‘s uncompromising approach to Black Metal while pushing their sound further. The album deals with the misery of mankind and human hardship, exploring how oppression, deprivation, and despair shape everyday existence, blurring the boundaries between past and present. Shaped through raw, unadulterated soundscapes, “Misères” offers a journey into the darkest corners of humanity.

Musically, the album retains the band’s raw and uncompromising sound while cutting back on atmospheric passages in favour of greater intensity and harsh, relentless riffing. “Tobias was not really on my radar. Obviously, I know Ghost, and they’re huge, but last year he turned up at one of our shows when we played in Stockholm, and we were chatting a little bit, and he said that his favourite song was ‘Save Us’, and at one point he was considering using it as a cover song on one of their albums, but it never panned out. ‘Save Us’? I don’t even remember that song. Nobody has even mentioned that song! I had to go back and listen to it. After I saw a Ghost show it all made sense to me. It really fits his style and I could really imagine him doing that song really well. He’s right, it’s a fun song!”

EXUMER Drop Waco, Texas-Inspired New Single ‘Allocated Savagery’

“Allocated Savagery” is the latest single from veteran German thrash legion, EXUMER. The track comes by way of the band’s latest studio album, Death Mask Messiah, set for release on August 28th through Metal Blade Records.

Death Mask Messiah is inspired conceptually by US politics of the last decade, the pandemic, the use of misinformation to stir up cultural divides, etc. Vocalist Mem V. Stein also explores the 30-year anniversary of Waco, Texas and the standoff with the Branch Davidians.

“‘Allocated Savagery’ delivers a brutal musical and lyrical account of the event,” comments Mem. “The track captures the intensity of the confrontation with the ATF, while reflecting on themes of misinformation and division that still resonate today.”

Death Mask Messiah serves as EXUMER‘s first new studio output in seven years and further cements the band’s legacy as a dauntless thrash metal institution. A logical and compelling progression from their three previous albums, the 11 ferocious songs, produced by Dominic Paraskevopoulos (Kreator, Caliban) and mixed and mastered by Arthur Rizk (Soulfly, King Diamond), take a more brutal and direct musical approach.

Recorded from December 2025 through January 2026, Death Mask Messiah is also the first EXUMER LP recorded with the rhythm section of drummer Jerome Reil and bass player Alex Voss. “You can feel their young energy, coupled with our trademark aggression and experience,” says Mem. “The band sounds more focused and yet raw, thanks to their addition to the lineup.”

The sequencing of Death Mask Messiah mirrors the intended lyrical and conceptual narrative to the music guitarists Ray Mensh and Marc B. composed for the album. The result is an auditory and emotional rollercoaster ride worth repeating. “I think we are heading toward a thrash renaissance, with legacy bands like us, Exodus and Kreator dropping new albums, and younger bands becoming very popular with younger fans,” Mem observes. While it’s been a few years since EXUMER‘s last album, Death Mask Messiah is doubtless worth the wait, the band believes that, “it’s always quality over quantity for EXUMER, and we hope and believe people appreciate that approach.”

As a bonus, Death Mask Messiah includes a guest and a cover song: Nasty Ronnie Galletti from American metal legends Nasty Savage sings on EXUMER‘s version of his band’s track “Unchained Angel.” EXUMER supported the band in 1988 on their first European tour.
