Martin Rubashov returns with his second single “Nixe”, taken from his upcoming new album “Origins Of Water”.

Stream ‘Nixe’ here: https://found.ee/Nixe-1

On his new album, ”Origins of Water”, Martin Rubashov (known from Nolavær, that features Anders Fridén from In Flames) delves deep into the essence of water, exploring its duality as both a life-giving force and a harbinger of destruction. Through a mesmerizing blend of melodies and lyrics, Rubashov invites listeners on a journey to uncover the secrets hidden within the fluid embrace of nature’s most precious resource.

About his second single he had this to say:

“A ghost story with a melodic guitar riff. It’s about flirting with the devil, who finds you in dark times and holds water as a tomb. Will you go there?”

From the tranquil trickle of a babbling brook, the hidden mires and to the open sea, each track on the album captures a different facet of water’s enigmatic character. Drawing inspiration from personal experiences and universal truths, Rubashov weaves a narrative that transcends time and space, touching upon themes of renewal, loss, and the interconnectedness of all living things.

At its core, Origins of Water is a meditation on humanity’s relationship with the natural world. Through haunting melodies and evocative lyrics, Rubashov confronts the harsh reality of water’s exploitation and pollution, urging listeners to contemplate the consequences of their actions and strive for a more harmonious existence with the planet.

From the haunting track ”Mires” to the anthemic “Elemental” each track on Origins of Water serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility and resilience of life. Guitar driven and thought-provoking lyrics, the album stands as a testament to the power of music to inspire change and ignite the soul.

As listeners immerse themselves in the ethereal soundscape of Origins of Water, they are transported to a realm where time stands still, and the boundaries between the physical and spiritual worlds blur. In this transcendent space, Rubashov invites us to confront our deepest fears and desires, ultimately emerging transformed and renewed, like a drop of water returning to the vast ocean of existence.

The new single “Nixe” is released 18th of October 2024, via Despotz Records. His new album “Origins Of Water” will be released February 21, 2025, on digital and physical media.

WHITE WILLOW Reveal Details of Fourth Album “Storm Season” from Back Catalogue

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 19, 2024
Posted in: News. Tagged: WHITE WILLOW. Leave a comment

WHITE WILLOW fans can look forward to a special Christmas treat this year when Karisma Records releases another album from its planned re-issue of the entire back catalogue of the legendary Norwegian Prog Rock pioneers.

This time it is the band’s fourth full-length album “Storm Season”, which was originally released in 2004 and was the first WHITE WILLOW album to sell over 10,000 copies.  Compared to their earlier releases, it marked a bold musical shift for WHITE WILLOW,  taking, as it does, a heavier, more metallic direction.  Blending their classical Prog and Folk Rock roots with a heavier, more streamlined side, “Storm Season” stands as WHITE WILLOWS’ most direct and impactful musical statement to date.

It is also very aptly named, because “Storm Season” was created in the chaotic epicenter of a perfect storm and reflected both the turbulence within the band itself, and of the world around them.

Indeed, the intensity of the music would nearly tear apart the band, leading to the departure of Sylvia Erichsen who had been their vocalist for several years.  And yet, it was from this very turmoil that a breakthrough would emerge, as guitarist and bandleader Jacob Holm-Lupo explains:

We wanted to create an album that felt like a storm—a reflection of the turmoil in the world with climate change and political unrest, and also within our own lives.

This re-release of “Storm Season” has been meticulously remastered by Jacob Holm-Lupo himself, breathing new life into the album

Although “Storm Season had previously been released in LP format in 2015,  that version featured an alternative cover and has long since sold out, whilst this is the first vinyl release to feature the iconic original cover art.

Set for release on the 13 December, “Storm Season” will be available as a Limited Edition LP in Stormy Marble Vinyl, as well as in CD format.  It can now be pre-ordered from:

Webshop: https://www.karismarecords.no/shop/
Bandcamp: https://whitewillow.bandcamp.com/album/storm-season-remaster
US Webshop: https://karismarecords.indiemerch.com

Track listing for “Storm Season” is as follows:

CD
1. Chemical Sunset
2. Sally Left
3. Endless Science
4. Soulburn
5. Insomnia
6. Storm Season
7. Nightside of Eden

WHITE WILLOW was formed in 1992 by guitarist Jacob Holm-Lupo, who at that time was a member of the POLICE/BRUCE HORNSBY-inspired pop band THE ORCHID GARDEN, and keyboard player Jan Tariq Rahman from local jazz-rock/prog rock band DUGGVÅTE DVE.

It was a case of two musicians coming together see if they had any kind of songwriting chemistry, and, whilst sitting on the floor playing acoustic guitar and clavinet, produced the track “Snowfall” which convinced them that they could, indeed, come up with something worthwhile.

WHITE WILLOW’s history, however, was never simple, with members having come and gone over the years  and only Holm-Lupo having remained with the band since its inception, whilst WOBBLER’s Lars Fredrik Frøislie has been a mainstay since 2001.

The band’s  sound too has undergone changes, but it’s safe to say that it is frequently centered around female vocals and an expanded instrumentation that usually includes a host of analogue synthesizers, mellotron, woodwinds and strings, in addition, of course, to traditional rock instrumentation.

Now, exclusively a studio project, WHITE WILLOW is noted for featuring guest appearances from prominent musicians such as  Norway’s guitar hero Hedvig Mollestad, or internationally renowned klezmer clarinetist David Krakauer.

By the time the re-release project is finished, Karisma Records will have released all six of the following albums:

Ignis Fatuus – 1995 (released Nov 2023)
Ex Tenebris – 1997  (released April 2024)
Sacrament – 2000  (released July 2024)
Storm Season – 2004 (due for release 13  December 2024)
Signal to Noise – 2006
Terminal Twilight – 2011

Italian Heavy Metal act DIE FOR MY SINS has unleashed another intense taste of the band’s upcoming debut album, entitled “Scream”, scheduled to be released on November 22nd via Swedish label ViciSolum Productions. Following the release of the first single and album’s title track, DIE FOR MY SINS follows up today with a lyric video for “Time” (feat. Ralf Scheepers of Primal Fear, ex Gamma Ray).

Fabio Calluori about the song: “‘Time’ is our second single and it’s the song with which this new adventure began because it’s the first one that I wrote for this album, so I’m very attached to it.
‘Time’ is one of the most melodic track on the album and represents another aspect of our music after the more aggressive feel of our first single ‘Scream’.A guitar lick introduce the song and after the riff, vocals, bass and drums hold the field till the melodic and catchy chorus. The middle break is characterized by a powerful guitar riff before the great solo by Luca Sellitto. After my guitar melody, a symphonic strings arrangement accompanies the vocals before the epic finale dominated by the powerful voice of Ralf Scheepers.”

Formed in 2022 by brothers Fabio and Nicolas Calluori, accomplished musicians previously known for their work in power metal outfit Heimdall and other notable bands, DIE FOR MY SINS merges their shared passion for Heavy Metal in this exciting new venture. Teaming up with renowned metal vocalist Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear, ex-Gamma Ray) as the core session singer for the album, the band also features a stellar performance from top-notch vocalist Ian Parry (ex-Elegy, Rock Emporium) on one track. The result is an explosive album, made up of 9 Heavy Metal songs characterized by a mix of powerful riffs, catchy melodies and symphonic passages.

British rock luminaries ASKING ALEXANDRIA yesterday (October 18) released a digital EP featuring remixed versions of popular tracks from their acclaimed 2023 album WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? via Better Noise Music. The band shared two of the EP’s songs in September including the fan-favorite track “Bad Blood” which was remixed by the record-breaking Indonesian DJ group Weird Genius (who broke Spotify’s record for the #1 longest charting local song on Spotify Indonesia’s Top 50 charts in 2020) and a sci-fi themed music video for the album’s third most highest streaming track, “Let Go,” remixed by up-and-coming LA-based producer kodeblooded.

WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? THE REMIXES includes seven tracks with additional remixes from multi-instrumentalist, producer, and actor Cass Dillon; viral Canadian producer and multi-instrumentalist Fairlane (Rihanna, Ava Max, Imagine Dragons); and DJ/heavy metal guitarist Sullivan King (Papa Roach, The Chainsmokers, Atreyu). ASKING ALEXANDRIA are currently touring across the U.S. on the second leg of their headlining “All My Friends” tour with support from Memphis May Fire, The Word Alive, and Archers. The tour stretches until November 2 in Chico, CA after which the band will head to the UK for a handful of shows supporting Falling In Reverse alongside Our Last Night, and Tech N9NE.

“Asking Alexandria took the stage amidst thunderous applause and delighted shouts. They launched right into a relentless barrage of hits, practically sending the crowd into a frenzy — it was nothing short of electrifying.” – Top Shelf Music Magazine (5/20)

“Their veteran showmanship was on full display. It’s not often bands of this caliber (and few can do it) play a series of heavy songs with varying intensity and then break things down and go acoustic! But Asking Alexandria does, and they do it extremely well. At times they had Bogart’s in the palm of their hands last night… I discovered why Asking Alexandria continues to forge a path influencing and inspiring metal bands worldwide.” – Cincy Music (10/8)

Catch ASKING ALEXANDRIA on one of their remaining dates for 2024 listed below. Tickets, VIP meet-and-greet upgrades, and further details can be found HERE.
