Following A Loner album released in 2022, the French doom metal band HANGMAN’S CHAIR returns today with a brand single ‘2 AM Thoughts‘ featuring DOOL. The two bands will also be touring together in Europe this year. All dates are listed below.

HANGMAN’S CHAIR stated about ‘2 AM Thoughts‘:
“The idea of collaborating with Raven Von Dorst doesn’t come from nowhere, we’ve been thinking about it since our last album. If we had to invite someone, it has to be Raven, we’ve known each other for quite a while long time now, played shows and partied together. Moreover, we share the same sensibilities. When the opportunity of touring with Dool became reality, it was the perfect time to record a song as one to solidified our bond. We came with music and words, Raven came with magical haunted voices. The title of the song speaks for itself, it deals with insomnia and thoughts you can experience during those moments such as anxiety, anguish, stress and doubts. The video is kinda special for us, we filmed our childhood friend Kéo Nackphouminh during his everyday life, struggling against his inner demons for years and being clean for 3 years now. For those wo don’t know, he was the very first singer of Hangman’s Chair appearing on our first album. Things have finally come full circle.”

HANGMAN’S CHAIR, formed in 2005 in Paris, are one of the most unique sounding Doom Rock bands currently active. Through the years, they have found and fine-tuned their own sonic brand, somewhere at the crossroads between TYPE O NEGATIVE, LIFE OF AGONY and SISTERS OF MERCY, to name a few, mixed with a certain street credibility connected to the group’s roots in hardcore. Each album takes its strength and essence from the band members’s life experiences, which they portrait with unflinching honesty. Whether it is the loss of band members, drug overdoses or the hardships of living in suburban Paris, all those human emotions resonate within each of their songs asthey embrace the darkness and transform it into something beautiful, heavy and melancholic.

Melodic synth-metal masters DELAIN are set to break new ground with their upcoming EP, Dance with the Devil, set for release on November 8, 2024 via Napalm Records! Today, DELAIN present the EP’s second single, a gripping live version of their hit track “Moth to a Flame”. The song’s original version was released on their latest full-length opus, Dark Waters (2023), which debuted at #9 on both the US Hard Music Albums chart and the Official German Album Charts, marking it the band’s most successful record to date.

The emotionally driven live version of “Moth to a Flame” offers DELAIN’s matchless live presence and artistic versatility by presenting a pop-induced hymn that showcases that the international unit centered around mastermind Martijn Westerholt holds its spot on top of the scene without any doubts.

By releasing Dance with the Devil this fall, DELAIN allows their listeners to dive through their highest quality discography while striding ahead into a future that promises to explore new, more synth-driven soundscapes than ever before.

Keyboardist, founder and main songwriter Martijn Westerholt on the song:
“’Moth to a Flame’ has been such a great surprise for us because the fans have responded to it with a ton of enthusiasm! It quickly became a fan favorite and always sparks an especially loud response from the crowd when we play it live. It even claimed a recurring place on national radio in Finland which is amazing. In short, after this successful festival season it definitely deserves a special spot in the DELAIN catalogue.”

“Moth to a Flame” (live) is now available on all streaming services worldwide – listen HERE!

Pre-order your copy of Dance with the Devil NOW

As their second release with a revitalized lineup anchored by founding member and band mastermind Martijn Westerholt, Dance with the Devil features a thrilling collection of two brand new tracks, two newly-presented favorites, nine electrifying live performances, and two instrumental bonus tracks, showcasing the best of their catchy, melodic signature sound with extensive electronic synth elements and fresh modern nuances.

The offering debuts with two gripping new tracks, “Dance with the Devil” and “The Reaping”, serving as a whirlwind of emotions through catchy electronic synth melodies and modern heaviness. “The Reaping” delves into collective themes, expressing disillusionment with the current path of society toward imminent and inescapable consequences. Following these, the EP presents a brand-new version of “Sleepwalkers Dream”, showcasing Diana Leah’s voice and her breathtaking full vocal capacities. Dance with the Devil continues with nine live performances, featuring massively-streamed hits from both the present and the past. These include “Burning Bridges”, “The Quest and the Curse”, “Moth to a Flame”, and the massive hit “April Rain”, which has been streamed over 10 million times, along with “Queen of Shadow”. In addition, the digipak edition features instrumental versions of “Dance with the Devil” and “The Reaping”, as well as an alternate ending version of “Underland”. DELAIN’s new EP impressively underlines the unit’s high-class standing in the scene and continues their voyage of setting fans’ hearts ablaze!

Martijn Westerholt adds:
“We’re thrilled to have brand new material ready to be released! In addition to the new songs, it was fantastic to have captured some magical live moments of our European tour earlier this year as live tracks for the EP. RESOLVE Release New Single And Video ‘Sandman’

French metalcore quartet Resolve have announced their new album Human (Extended Cut), which will be released on 25th October, 2024 via Arising Empire. This version of Human, which was originally released in 2023, will not only include brand new music, but also the ‘The Fire, The Aftermath, The Everlasting’ live performance as a bonus.

In celebration, the band is now unveiling another new single ‘Sandman’, merging the lines between the past and present.

Pre-order Human (Extended Cut) here: https://arisingempire.com/humanextendedcut

Resolve‘s bassist, Robin Mariat comments on the track:

“Some months ago, Anthony (Resolve‘s lead singer and songwriter) went through an episode of sleep paralysis. If you’re lucky enough to have never experienced it, imagine waking up in the dead of night with a terrifying figure looking over you, and being unable to move or ask for help. The next day, Anthony came up with the demo for ‘Sandman’ originally named ‘Sleep Paralysis’. That probably explains the nightmarish vibe of the track. The choruses though, are epic and hopeful, a reminder that even in the darkest moments of our lives, there will always be something or someone to lift us up and bring us back into the light.”

Resolve have various tours coming up. A full list of confirmed shows can be found below.

Brian Perera, President of Cleopatra Records, shared his excitement about the reunion:.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Ministry back home to Cleopatra. We’ve always taken great care of their classic Wax Trax! recordings, and now, as we reunite with Paul and Al, we’re ready to continue honoring and expanding their iconic legacy.”

“Looking forward to how this new and FINAL Ministry record comes out. Turns out working with Paul is like riding a bike, you never forget how. Buckle up, this is going to be a good one

MÖRK GRYNING Release Single And Video for Title Track of Upcoming Album “Fasornas Tid”

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 9, 2024
Posted in: News. Tagged: MÖRK GRYNING. Leave a comment

The relentless storm of Swedish black metal strikes once again. MÖRK GRYNING, undeterred by the passage of time, reveals their latest single Fasornas Tid from their eponymous upcoming album. It’s a declaration of war, a journey through the tumultuous realms of the human soul.

Bracing against the bitter winds of mediocrity, the purveyors of the most nefarious melodies, have once again defied expectations with this latest single. This track heralds a return to their roots, reminiscent of their seminal opus “Tusen år har gått…” yet drenched in the visceral immediacy of the present.

Fasornas Tid is a relentless onslaught of melodic harmonies intertwined with breakneck tempos. With it, MÖRK GRYNING refuse to bow to the whims of mainstream trends. Recorded, mixed, and mastered by the legendary Sverker Widgren at Wing Studios, this release bleeds authenticity from every riff and growled lyric.

The accompanying music video, crafted by the visionary Claudio Marino & produced by Artax Film, plunges you into the heart of darkness. A visual feast that complements the track’s apocalyptic themes, it’s a cinematic portrayal of inner turmoil, the eternal battle between light and darkness, and the insatiable call of self-destruction.

Fasornas Tid is out December 13th on Season of Mist.

Mörk Gryning was founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 1993 by Goth Gorgon and Draakh Kimera. Two years later they released their debut album “Tusen År Har Gått” (1995), recorded and mixed at Unisound Studios, by legendary producer Dan Swanö and released by No Fashion. The album is one of the milestones of the ‘90s Swedish Black Metal scene.

The group returned to action in November 1996, working at Sunlight Studios together with Tomas Skogsberg and Dismember’s Fred Estby to craft the “Return Fire” album. Over the following years, three more albums were released, for example “Maelstrom Chaos” with new guitarist Avathar, a scene veteran, recorded at the legendary Grieghallen Studios Bergen, Norway.

Ever since the debut album, “Tusen år har gått…”, Mörk Gryning has refused to follow in the footsteps of others and walked their own paths – something which is made very clear on the 2003 release “Pieces of Primal Expressionism”, an experimental and heavy progressive release recorded at Dug Out, produced by Daniel Bergstrand. After a couple of years of touring and festival performances, the band was put on hold.

Returning to the scene again in 2017, the band performed an exclusive live show in Stockholm playing all the songs from the debut album and some other songs from the back catalogue. This ended in releasing the 4-song live record called “Live at Kraken”. During the pandemic the comeback album “Hinsides Vrede” was released to much critical acclaim with many of the songs today being the backbone of their live shows. A new album is scheduled for release in 2024 and the band is more active than ever.

ERSHETU Premiere New Track ‘Sekiryō’ from Upcoming Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 9, 2024
Posted in: News. Tagged: ERSHETU. Leave a comment

Cinematic Black Metal project ERSHETU, founded in 2021 by conceptualist/lyricist Void (DMP) and composer Sacr, unveils a second glimpse into their upcoming album, “Yomi“.

Listen to the album’s third track, ‘Sekiryō‘, on DMP’s YouTube channel, below, and via Bandcamp.

”Sekiryō‘ merges the raw intensity of Black Metal with rich cinematic atmospheres. Opening with haunting ambient textures, the track explodes into fierce guitars, blast beats, and chilling vocals from Vindsval (BLUT AUS NORD, FORHIST). A serene midsection of ethereal soundscapes and melodic guitars offers a brief respite before a powerful, thunderous finale which showcases ERSHETU‘s distinctive fusion of contrasting styles.

Composer Sacr shares his thoughts on the creation and structure of ‘Sekiryō‘:

“‘Sekiryō‘ could have started with a long section played solely on the Koto (from 0:16 to 2:39), but in the end, I preferred to integrate guitars, bass, and drums because I felt it would have made the introduction too long. This opening passage is, for me, interesting because it gradually builds emotional intensity before releasing, like someone resisting death until they finally let go and free their soul. It leads to a sense of peace.

After that, the track maintains a certain slowness with different dark atmospheres, until the shift to a faster rhythm with a very Japanese-inspired melody.

Vindsval really unleashed his creativity on this track. His vocals are incredible! It’s like souls crying out, hoping for redemption. At least, that’s how it feels to me.“

Lead vocalist Vindsval adds:

“I took my time before agreeing to record all of “Yomi”s vocal parts, as Lars had done an incredible job on the first album, and stepping in for him was a particularly daunting task. Ultimately, I decided to approach the project in a radically different manner. I don’t possess his vocal abilities or mastery of singing, and attempting to imitate him would have been an absurd idea destined to fail. Instead, I worked as I do with BLUT AUS NORD, using my voice as an instrument in its own right. I never prioritize vocals in my mixes; rather, I treat them as an integral part of the arrangement that serves the compositions, and the atmosphere created by the music. This is evident in “Yomi” and in this second excerpt, where you can hear a blend of many distinct voices, ensuring that the composer’s intention remains intact.“

Find all info about “Yomi” here!

“Yomi” will be released on CD, vinyl – including exclusive DMP editions (CD/vinyl) – and digital via Debemur Morti on November 8th. A specifically designed t-shirt will accompany the launch. Pre-orders are available via the label’s EU, US and Bandcamp shop.

ERSHETU was founded in 2021 by conceptualist/lyricist Void and composer Sacr to create cinematic music that blends epic, obscure, and atmospheric Metal with the evocative dramatism of film scores. Each album examines the concept of ‘death’ as interpreted by different civilizations or religions.

The project’s 2023 debut, “Xibalba“, drew inspiration from Mayan folklore and sacred text the Popol Vuh, and featured the unmistakable vocals of Norway’s Lars Are Nedland (BORKNAGAR, SOLEFALD) plus bass/additional guitars by the enigmatic French artist Vindsval (BLUT AUS NORD, FORHIST).

ERSHETU‘s upcoming second work, “Yomi“, explores the death-lore of Japanese Shinto. The album features an expanded role for Vindsval – including lead vocals – and sees the band heading to deeper and darker territory.

“Yomi” is set for release on November 8, 2024.
