UNDEATH Celebrate New Album Release with Music Video for Title Track ‘More Insane’

Rochester, NY death metal band UNDEATH has released their new album today, titled More Insane, via Prosthetic Records. Accompanying the album release, UNDEATH has also shared a music video for the title-track. More Insane arrives in the midst of their ongoing North American headline tour dates, with the group making good on their promise of “the biggest, baddest, nastiest UNDEATH record yet.”

Stream More Insane via Apple Music, TIDAL, Deezer, Bandcamp and Spotify.
Order More Insane here.

Speaking on the title-track, UNDEATH vocalist Alexander Jones comments: “We were on tour back in 2022 and had just played a show in Manhattan. Kyle (Beam, guitar) and I were drinking at a bar nearby post-set and he goes, “‘I’m writing this new song right now and I think I’m gonna call it MORE INSANE.” I didn’t even need to hear the song or read any of the lyrics to know that it absolutely needed to be the title track of the
record too. And what a track it is! It channels so many of our classic death metal influences while feeling 100% like ourselves the entire time. When we were recording it with Mark he told us “you guys are going to be playing this song for the rest of your lives”, and I sincerely hope he’s right. It’s one of my personal favorites in our whole fetid catalogue.”

Previous album It’s Time… To Rise from the Grave caught a wave of acclaim on TheNeedleDrop’s YouTube channel, earned Best New Music from Pitchfork, and, most impressively, rocketed to the top of Decibel Magazine’s Top 40 Albums of 2022, along with a coveted cover feature. On More Insane, UNDEATH – featuring Kyle Beam (guitars), Alexander Jones (vocals), Tommy Wall (bass), Jared Welch (guitars), and Matt Browning (drums)—feast on the rotten flesh of brutality, complexity, and depravity.

If the gross-out teenage hallucinations of It’s Time… rattled death metal’s caved-in cranium, More Insane explodes with even sicker vistas. Lyrically, UNDEATH pick up, in part, where Necrobionics and Enhancing the Dead left off. Indeed, the undead armies (from space) cause more carnage in Sutured for War and Dead from Beyond. Elsewhere, the New Yorkers summon nightmares from video games (Bloodborne, etc.) on Cramped Caskets (Necrology), turn to high fantasy on Brandish the Blade, and man-eating laboratory demons on Disattachment of a Prophylactic in the Brain. Unifying themes of murder, weirdos, psychotic people (who kill others), and more lunacy prevail on More Insane. Browning’s eye-catching cover art of a splayed head atop an optic white background engulfs all in graphic, blood-soaked glory.

The recording of More Insane was hearsed over to American studio wizard Mark Lewis (Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder) at Mark Lewis Audio in Nashville, TN. UNDEATH and Lewis met after a gig in Alabama. They became fast friends. With the basics out of the way, the group set up a month-long residency at Lewis’s studio to nail down More Insane. UNDEATH and Lewis co-produced, while Lewis handled engineering, mixing, and mastering. Brandish the Blade, Disputatious Malignancy, Dead from Beyond, and the title track are pure, unyielding death brought to horrifying reality by a kick-ass production.

Expect UNDEATH to take More Insane to their diehard fans around the world. Expect more bloodshed, crazier merch, and a ton of fun. In life, there’s only UNDEATH. Only this time, it’s More Insane!

DYING HYDRA Release Captivating Video for ‘Grasping Stone’, New Album Out November 1st

November 1 will mark the highly anticipated release of “Strange and Beautiful Things”, the brand new album by Danish atmospheric sludge metal heavyweights DYING HYDRA, set to be unleashed through Black Grain Records! In anticipation of this upcoming release, the band has unveiled a music video for the intense single “Grasping Stone”.

The band comments: “Behold and brace yourself for the sounds of the deep, the track ‘Grasping Stone‘ will swallow you whole and pull you into the universe of Dying Hydra.”

Arisen from the undergrounds of Copenhagen, Denmark, this beyond-heavy and intense trio has set out to paralyze the hordes with their distorted and immensely dirty soundscapes supported by mesmerizing visuals that swallows even reality itself.

Formed in early 2018 by Lars Pontoppidan (guitar/vocals), Patrick Fragtrup (guitar/vocals), and Tejs Kyhl (drums), DYING HYDRA consists of members with extensive experience in the Danish underground metal scene, having previously played together in a now-defunct band. Upon playing together, as a trio with no bass but instead with octave pedals added for low end, the trio’s efforts spawned a new vigor and inspiration materializing in what has now become the band’s own unique heavy, atmospheric and sludgy sound.

Despite the relatively short period of existence, the band has already shared stages with luminaries such as Bongripper (US), Hatesphere (DK), Orm (DK), Alkymist (DK), and Primitive Man (US), leaving an indelible mark on the underground circuit.

“Strange and Beautiful Things” delves into the mysteries of the great oceans, exploring themes of human impact on the environment, the awe-inspiring marine life, and the profound vastness of the abyss. Each track encapsulates these narratives both lyrically and musically, delivering a relentless onslaught of crushing heaviness, dynamic shifts, and atmospheric compositions unique to DYING HYDRA‘s sonic universe.

The album was recorded and mixed by Lasse Ballade at Ballade Studios and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. Stunning cover artwork by Kacper Gilka, with additional artwork/graphics and layout by Soares Artwork & Gargantula Creations.

“Strange and Beautiful Things” makes its debut through Black Grain Records, in collaboration with distributing partners minoRobscuR, Virkelighedsfjern, Vinyl Trolden, and Quebranta Records offering physical formats for enthusiasts to fully experience the band’s aural journey.

The album is now available for pre-order at THIS LOCATION

MARJANA SEMKINA Unveils Video for New Single ‘Anything But Sleep’, Feat. Jim Grey

Marjana Semkina has unveiled a video for her single ‘Anything But Sleep’ featuring Jim Grey  of  Caligula’s Horse, taken from her stunning new solo LP, Sirin, out now.

Purchase Sirin here: https://marjanasemkina.bandcamp.com/album/sirin

Marjana comments on working with Jim Grey: “I’m so thrilled with this collaboration – Jim has one of the most beautiful voices and hearing him on my song and singing with him was such a special experience.”

On the single and video, she continues: “The song in my true fashion is about a dead girl haunting her abusive former lover and gradually driving him insane (something I definitely will do when I die) and the music video was produced in collaboration with the wonderful Cinebuds in The Netherlands over a very stormy summer weekend. Jim‘s footage was kindly provided by the old friend Adrian Goleby.

“Overall I think it’s my favourite music video i’ve ever done and what a joy it is to be able to work with so many incredibly talented people.”

Marjana Semkina has also announced a one off show, performing songs from Sirin and more. This will be held at St Matthias Church, Stoke Newington, on 1st November 2024. The evening will be headlined by her band Iamthemorning, and her bandmate Gleb Kolyadin will also perform a set of his solo work.

Marjana‘s live band features Liam McLaughlin on guitar and bass, Lulu de la Rosa on keys and Evan Carson on drums and percussion.

Tickets are available here: https://wegottickets.com/event/631950

Sirin is a journey of dark stories and fairy tales, told with Marjana’s uniquely captivating voice, on a foundation of detailed musical arrangements. However there is a prevailing darkness and grief, inspired by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, with the first single about by the protests.

On the album Sirin, she continues: “Sirin is a mythical creature from ancient Slavic mythology, half-bird half-woman, she’s a harbinger of bad luck and death, and it’s believed that if you meet Sirin a big catastrophe will happen – except in case with the events surrounding this album it’s already happened. Sirin cries and mourns for humankind, and nothing can be more appropriate in this day and age. Sirin is one of very few creatures that can travel between worlds – a world of gods of light, a world of dark deities (in some versions an alternative to the underworld) and a world of mortals. This felt appropriate because the album is quite diverse in sound and some might think parts of it sound happy, but the subject matter is almost always quite morbid, which creates a contrast that I enjoy.

“I was never very political and I always tried to keep my art within the realms of lore, literature and imagination. But when events like the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine happen, it is impossible – and I’d even say, unforgivable – to stay silent and do nothing. Thankfully being based in the UK I feel rather safe speaking out against the current regime and I do have a platform that I can use to try and show the world that Russians disagree with the actions of the Russian government, and there are so many of us that only wish for this to be over. I’m just trying to show it in the most artistic way I can muster.”

Sirin track list:

01 We Are The Ocean
02 Lost But At Peace
03 Anything But Sleep (feat. Jim Grey)
04 Pygmalion
05 Angel Street
06 Gone
07 Death And The Maiden (feat. Mick Moss)
08 The Storm
09 Swan Song
10 This Silence This Dreaming

Now permanently based in the UK, Marjana has been an active campaigner against the Russian occupation in Ukraine and has raised thousands of pounds via her activities to support the victims of war. She will continue her work, including selling a number of a limited run of handwritten lyrics from Sirin, with the money going to Ukrainian charities. Acts punishable by 15 years imprisonment should she return home.

Marjana is joined by an array of world class musicians (detailed below), which includes two very special guest vocal performances from Jim Grey (Caligula’s Horse) and Mick Moss (Antimatter).

Known for her work as the vocalist of prog duo Iamthemorning, self-exiled Russian Marjana has forged a successful solo career with two critically acclaimed solo releases: her 2020 debut solo album Sleepwalking, and 2021 follow-up EP Disillusioned.

Marjana has previously collaborated with many incredible artists, including The Flower Kings, Jordan Rudess, Blackbriar, as well as Anna Murphy with their Maer project. Combined with her work in Iamthemorning, her experiences have enabled her to become one of the most unique and exciting solo artists in the progressive world today.

Adelaide’s rising metal/punk act, Lonely Empire, are set to make waves with the release of their debut single, ‘Like a Misfit,’ on October 4 via Golden Robot Records, now available across all streaming platforms.

‘Like a Misfit’
is a raw, powerful blend of nu-metal and metalcore, inspired by the struggles of feeling like an outsider. With heavy riffs, relentless energy, and emotionally charged vocals, the song resonates with those who’ve ever felt like they don’t belong.

Lead singer, Lucas Magourilos, shares: “The track is based on my own experiences growing up – feeling misunderstood and like an outcast throughout my school years. It’s about realizing how, in life, you’re often pressured to follow the collective or face being ridiculed.”

Stream/buy here: https://orcd.co/like-a-misfit

The debut single showcases Lonely Empire’s unapologetic sound and their ability to fuse aggressive instrumentals with deeply personal, relatable themes. Fans of bands like Slipknot, Linkin Park, and Bring Me the Horizon will feel right at home in this adrenaline-fueled anthem.

‘Like a Misfit‘ marks the first taste of what’s to come from Lonely Empire as they carve out their place in the heavy music scene. With their intense live performances and a message that speaks directly to the outcasts, the band is poised to make a big impact. More exciting news from Lonely Empire is on the horizon as they gear up for their upcoming releases.

SEETHING AKIRA Release Fabulous New Single ‘Sunflower Shadows’

Hitting a slightly more mellow note than their usual fare, Seething Akira offer up the rather fabulous ‘Sunflower Shadows‘ as their latest single. The band state: “Sunflower Shadows, Seething Akira’s 3rd offering from their upcoming album “Cancel Estate” coming 25th October! This single shows a much more positive perspective from the sextet, whilst still displaying that signature level of aggression.”

Presave: https://earache.lnk.to/CancelEstate – Preorder: https://seethingakira.bigcartel.com/

Following on from the release of their critically acclaimed ‘Nozomi’, Seething Akira are gearing up for their new album ‘Cancel Estate, to be released on 25th October.
Seething Akira are a band built on the foundations of connection, sharing something special with a stranger and forming a bond that lasts a lifetime. Taking the most gloriously crushing parts of metalcore and joyfully triumphant elements of EDM and smashing them together with lashings of British grit, determination and cheek, they craft a uniquely vibrant experience. Delivering as many breakdowns that could cut diamonds as techno breaks that wouldn’t sound out of place in the clubs of Berlin, they strive to unite two worlds with more in common than many think.

Inspired by the swell of the pit as much as the heat of the dancefloor, movement is encouraged, but so is critical thought. Though the band’s music straddles the shoulders of the community proudly, it is when they are on stage together that it truly comes to life. They’ve shared their hopeful philosophy with everyone from Don Broco and Ingested to Skindred, Killswitch Engage and Sleep Token, as well as decimating stages at Download, Bloodstock and Victorious. And each performance they been a part of has been viewed as a blessing, a chance to change someone’s perspective with the euphoria they have forged. There is no barrier between the band and the crowd, they are one in these moments.

10/10 – Emerging Rock Bands: “Nozomi – New metal masterpiece!” Devolution Magazine – “In Nozomi they’ve created something very special. What these six guys from Portsmouth have just produced is a contender for album of the year.”

Bloodstock Main Stage 2023: MetalTalk – “With their adrenaline-fuelled approach, they tore the Bloodstock arena apart, and the masses responded in kind with pits and circles aplenty.”

Dark Arts Conspiracy: “They are a band that need to be seen to be believed, especially in the live environment, where they truly thrive, being in their element. It’s no surprise that they have already supported the likes of Skindred, Hacktivist and Don Broco.”

Seething Akira:
When did waking up with air in our lungs and blood in our veins stop being all we needed to know that life is wonderful?
At the end of everything, you won’t be thinking of the things you bought or the number of followers you had. You’ll be looking at the places you saw, the things you felt and the people you were with. That’s what this should all be about. It’s all this has ever been about. We just need a bit of reminding every now and then.

Seething Akira have made it their mission to be that reminder. That’s because they are a band built on the foundations of connection. Of sharing something special with a stranger and forming a bond that lasts a lifetime. It’s a sentiment that made them fall in love with heavy music in the first place, and since their inception in 2017, they have been striving to leave their mark on the genre in the same way their heroes have.

The future is more uncertain than it has ever been, but what we can control is the things that we stand for. As beautifully human as they are, they are wonderfully otherworldly; Seething Akira know who they are and what they believe now more than ever. Of what it means to make the most of our time and endeavour to make every moment one to remember. They want to be a flag in the ground for everybody else who feels the same.
So, are you coming along for the ride?

SKAM Release Video for New Single ‘Rising Fever’

SKAM have released their video for huge new single ‘Rising Fever’, taken from the new album ‘From The Depths’ set for release on 29th November.

Neal states:

“This song is about our journey in the Music Industry, and tells the story behind the new album. We decided not to compromise on our sound and what we are about as a band, and write songs that we truly believe in and love. The lyrics are about all of the so called ‘industry experts’ we have come across over the years who have told us to write songs a certain way, or look a certain way. We aren’t built that way, and never will be, so this is for them!”

Order ‘Rising Fever‘ here: https://earache.lnk.to/RisingFever
Preorder ‘From The Depths’ here: https://skamuk.com/shop/

Formed in 2011, SKAM are a hard rock power trio band from the middle of England. They have a reputation for delivering no nonsense, gutsy, classic sounding contemporary British rock music. To date, the band have independently released 3 albums. ‘It’s Come to This’ (2011) and ‘Peacemaker’ (2014) were released to critical acclaim and the band established themselves as a live force to be reckoned with.

A drive to innovate inspired SKAM to release ‘The Amazing Memoirs of Geoffrey Goddard’ (2017), a concept record based on the diary entries of a time travelling RAF pilot. The songs were described as ‘gritty anthemic rockers’ by Classic Rock Magazine and the album received a number of 5 star reviews from the UK Music press. Lead single ‘Take it Or Leave it’ was voted as ‘track of the week’ by Classic Rock Magazine and has since been included on Earache Records ‘New Wave of Rock N Roll’ compilation vinyl. In 2021, broke into the Official UK Rock Charts with their ‘Intra’ EP hitting number 6. Part 2 ‘Venous’ went one better making it to number 5.

On 4th October, the band returned with new single ‘Rising Fever‘, taken from upcoming release ‘From The Depths’, their most eclectic and ambitious album yet. On this album they have pushed themselves into unknown waters, experimenting with everything from Metal to prog, to Acoustic balladry. The album is due for release on 29th November.
