John Lodge, legendary bass player, songwriter and vocalist of The Moody Blues, and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, will be back on tour in November 2024 in the USA!  Following the critically acclaimed and sold out shows earlier this year, John is continuing in his celebration of ‘The Moody Blues’ music, and the iconic album ‘Days of Future Passed’, and is delighted to be bringing his show to new audiences in the USA. The short run will start in Clarksburg, WV on Nov 12, and end in Royal Oak, MI on Nov 19, and the tour will then recommence in February 2025. All dates go on sale today, Sept 27th, and special VIP packages are available that include a special personalized hello video from John, together with Limited Edition Merchandise and a Great Seat! Ticket link here.

The electrifying show, ‘Performs Days of Future Passed’ encompasses a first set of Moodies classics featuring fan favorites such as ‘Isn’t Life Strange’, ‘Legend of a Mind’, ‘I’m Just a Singer (in a Rock and Roll Band)’ and ‘Ride my See-Saw’. The second set sees John and his rocking band perform ‘Days of Future Passed’ in full symphonic splendor, and with incredible renditions of ‘Nights in White Satin’ and ‘Tuesday Afternoon’. The show also includes mesmerizing video to create a fully immersive experience as John, and his band, take the audience on a journey back in time. John’s stories, the incredible vocal harmonies, the passionate musicianship, and the loving recreation of this groundbreaking album, all wrap around the listener, creating Moodies magic that stays with them for long after the music fades.

Some of the Moodies most loved songs were composed and sung by John, such as ‘Isn’t Life Strange’, and ‘Ride My See-Saw’, and these are brought into the show with a new passion by John and his band. He also performs his heartfelt renditions of songs written by Mike Pinder and Ray Thomas. Graeme Edge appears on screen for a very special video, reciting his poems, ‘Morning Glory’ and ‘Late Lament’. And to complete this special evening, Jon Davison of YES performs “Nights in White Satin”, “Tuesday Afternoon”, and other classic Hayward-penned hits. Jon has been the lead singer of YES since 2012, and brings his soaring vocals and passion to these classic songs. Jon is also John’s son-in-law, and seeing them together on stage gives a glimpse into their deep friendship.

“In crafting this show, I wanted to ensure there was a place for all my Moodies bandmates. It’s a joy to perform not only my own songs but those of my friends Ray and Mike, and to hear Jon sing Justin’s songs. But my greatest joy is seeing Graeme up on stage with me, it never stops being emotional. My hope is that we can all take a trip down days of future passed together, and that audiences will leave feeling as if something joyful happened to them. It’s been a tough year, but thanks to the love of my family, and the support of my fans, I’m delighted to be back on the road, so thank you all for keeping the faith.”

As Beneath a Desert Sky said, ‘a must see show if you love classic progressive rock music or The Moody Blues music’

‘Days of Future Passed’ was released 56 years ago, and was arguably the start of progressive rock.  These songs began the long standing cross-over between rock and classical music, and the Moody Blues shows were always known for recreating this incredible sound, and for the wonderful atmosphere enjoyed by both those on stage, and in the audience. John has surrounded himself with a band that are equally passionate, who put simply, love performing together, and who appreciate and respect the legacy of the music. The Moodies may not perform any more, and the loss of Graeme, Ray and Mike is felt deeply, but this show honors John’s friends and the music.

The electrifying show will also be in support of John’s album ‘Days of Future Passed – My Sojourn’, available now on CD and all streaming services, with limited edition 180g coloured vinyl also available, HERE.

Watch John’s video for ‘Nights in White Satin’ from the album:

Joining John on stage is his ‘10,000 Light Years Band’, comprised of long term collaborator Alan Hewitt (Music Director and Keyboards) and Billy Ashbaugh (Drums) from the Moody Blues touring band, together with Duffy King (Guitars) and Jason Charboneau (Cello).  Jon Davison of YES will also be joining him for his special renditions of ‘Nights in White Satin’ and ‘Tuesday Afternoon’, plus the magical voice of Graeme Edge.

‘If you love The Moody Blues music, then you really need to checkout John live.  He and the band put on a great show!’

John Lodge is bass guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter for the iconic Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame 2018 inductees, The Moody Blues. Songwriter of such mega Moody Blues hits from “Ride My See-Saw,” to “I’m Just A Singer (In A Rock and Roll Band),” “Isn’t Life Strange” and many more.  Lodge has been performing and recording with The Moody Blues for more than five decades, selling in excess of 70 million albums, as well as releasing his three solo albums ‘Natural Avenue’, ’10,000 Light Years Ago’ and ‘B Yond’.  Lodge has been voted one of the “10 most influential bass players on the planet,” and has been the recipient of many awards, including ASCAP (American Society of Composers and Publishers), an Ivor Novello Award, a Lifetime Achievement Award from Prog Magazine, to name just a few.

*with Nocturnal Depression

“Nightfloating” comes after four years from the critically acclaimed “Nihilistic Estrangement” and it’s an accurate picture of where the band stands these days, artistically; reinterpreting its Depressive Black Metal roots – a genre the band helped to define in the early 2000s with its classic first three records – in the light of its 25 years’ experience, FORGOTTEN TOMB reinvigorates itself with a record that blends past and present, exploring darker territories and different shades of gray. From atmospheric cuts such as the anthemic title-track and the blistering “This Sickness Withered My Heart”, to intricate yet harrowing songs such as “A Chill That You Can’t Taint” and “Unsafe Spaces”, the band tops it off with the surprising dungeon-synth detour of “Drifting” and the 10-minutes epic “A Despicable Gift”, crafting an uncompromising yet refreshing album and setting itself apart once again from all bands that followed in its footsteps. From the first note to the last, “Nightfloating” sounds unmistakably like FORGOTTEN TOMB.

The majestic cover artwork has been hand-drawn by Greek artist Satta La Main Verte, perfectly complementing the mood of the record and its lyrical themes, that follow the band’s caustic tradition while touching on various subjects, from more introspective meditations to all-out misanthropic aggression.

“We are proud of this new record, it’s been a lot of work and the fact that it’s gonna be released during the band’s 25th anniversary makes it even more special,” FORGOTTEN TOMB comments. “It doesn’t get more Forgotten Tomb than this record, it sounds like you would expect, but at the same time it’s got a fresh approach to the subject matter. There are a lot of details to be discovered throughout the tracks.”

The album was recorded at Elfo Studio in Italy between August 2023 and January 2024, and produced by Daniele Mandelli and FORGOTTEN TOMB. Daniele Mandelli, Ferdinando Marchisio and Alessandro Comerio mixed the album. Davide Tavecchia mastered it at Twilight Studio in February 2024.

Tracklisting:
1. Nightfloating
2. A Chill That You Can’t Taint

RIOTOUS INDIGNATION Release New Single + Lyric Video ‘Indoctrinate’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 1, 2024
Posted in: News. Tagged: RIOTOUS INDIGNATION. Leave a comment

Riotous Indignation’s new single “INDOCTRINATE” addresses how people who are easily manipulated can be used by those in positions of power.

With only 12-weeks passing since their last single “Wheel of Misfortune” premiered on Decibel Magazines website, Riotous Indignation has just released another single.

The new single, titled Indoctrinate, sets its lyrical focus on how the divisive, manipulative, and corrupt nature of Americas failing political class has a deliberate and negative effect on the country’s citizenry.

“With a pending U.S. presidential election coming in the next few weeks, I wanted to get this single out because I feel that it will touch a lot of people who are completely disgusted by what is currently happening in our government, but who may not be willing to discuss these things publicly. For those people, I hope they can find their voice in this song.” – states Mike Repel, the bands frontman and lyricist.

Musically the track has some strong elements and a catchy melody that make it memorable yet haunting at the same time. It also contains two guitar solos, the first featuring Scare Crow (Berator, Never We See) who also contributed solos to the band’s prior releases Lords of War, and The End.

Scare Crow stated that:

“This new song touches on how a lack of moral compass can affect people in power. Newer generations are being born and raised with a sense of underlying slavery to the government and other components of our society which seem to inhibit free speech and also seem to be controlling our every move. With crushing riffs and cunning lyrics, this new release takes you through a depth of how we as a society must break free from what destroys our true will.”

The second solo in this song is hammered out by Repel, who is also the song’s composer and producer.

The song is available on all Digital Service Providers which can be accessed along with the band’s social media accounts on their HearNow page.  https://riotousindignation.hearnow.com/

Metalheads in the USA can call their local radio station’s metal show and request to hear “Indoctrinate.”

Making the song’s message abundantly clear is a lyric music video that is also now available.

Founded by Bob Clayton and Mike Repel in 2015, the band released their debut, The Violentus Musicae EP, in early 2016. The EP was recorded and produced by Repel, and was mixed at Dexter Labs Studio in Milford CT. by Nick Bellmore and was Mastered by Chris “Zeuss” Harris.

Since the release of The Violentus Musicae EP in May of 2016, they have obtained positive press coverage and have confirmed airplay on over 50 internet radio stations, some terrestrial radio, and podcasts. This also includes a twenty-two week charting run for their song “Secret Societies” on Radio Naklo’s Czadlista & Czadlista Post Scriptum Radio Show in Poland.

In January of 2017 they released their music video for “The End” and also became a semi-finalist in the 2017 Hollywood Film festival for their work in creating the video.

In 2017 the band has increased visibility with ongoing promotions in mainland China. Their music was included in a music festival playlist, and was the focus of a syndicated column about heavy music on QQ Music.

Their music has been featured on several recently released compilations, including: The Making a Scene 2017 compilation by Whatever68 Radio and PP Promo Records, El Bunker Del Metal’s The Force of Annihilation compilation out of Argentina, and also The Metal Music GlobAlliance Compilation out of Slovakia.

They have also been featured on the 2018 Imperative Music Global Metal Compilation Vol. 15 with Destruction, Hammerfall, Cradle of Filth, Death, and many other bands. This compilation, based out of Brazil, is a DVD/with Audio and Video contributions from each band. It was distributed internationally through Imperatives label and media partners in several countries.

Previously unreleased music has been coming out in the form of singles, all which have been receiving terrestrial and internet radio play. This includes “Lords of War” (Nov. 2021), which debuted at #24 on the NACC Charts, and Wheel of Misfortune (2024), which as previously stated, premiered on Decibel Magazines website.

WANG CHUNG’s Iconic ‘Everybody Have Fun Tonight’ Gets a Fresh Remix

The ’80s were full of party dance anthems, and one of the era’s most memorable is Wang Chung‘s 1986 hit, Everybody Have Fun Tonight. On September 27th, 2024, the song returns with a new remix by acclaimed remixer Eric Kupper, known for his work with artists such as Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, Depeche Mode, Diana Ross, and Earth, Wind & Fire.

Wang Chung’s Nick Feldman and Jack Hues were immediately impressed with Kupper’s remix, describing it as vibrant, infectious, and full of dynamic energy that breathes new life into the song while preserving its original shape.

To hear the new take on this classic track, visit: https://sym.ffm.to/wang_chung

Reflecting on the band’s cultural impact, Brad LeBeau, President and Founder of Pro Motion, the global leader in DJ and Club promotion, commented:
“Given the world’s obsession with music from the 1980s and 90s, the Eric Kupper 2024 remix of ‘Everybody Have Fun Tonight’ by Wang Chung has risen above the pack at the domestic and international club culture deejay, specialty radio programmer, and music consumer social media levels.”

Everybody Have Fun Tonight, with its now-famous line, “Everybody Wang Chung Tonight,” saw the invention of a new US verb – ‘to Wang Chung.’ Icons such as Homer Simpson and Frasier Crane name-checked the band on TV, and Wang Chung even achieved punch-line status in the movie The Spy Who Shagged Me.

Beyond their chart-topping hits, Wang Chung became a multi-media sensation, contributing to the soundtracks of dozens of commercials, films, and T.V. shows. Their critically acclaimed score for William Friedkin’s To Live and Die in L.A. in 1985 is one of their most iconic contributions to cinema, solidifying their influence in pop culture and the film industry.

Eric Kupper’s remix marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Wang Chung, further cementing their legacy of timeless dance anthems and multimedia influence.

Emerging from the UK’s post-punk/new wave scene, Wang Chung went on to achieve worldwide success, selling millions of records. Over their 40-year career, they’ve released six studio albums and two greatest hits collections, with six US Top 40 hits, including a massive #1 single and two chart-topping dance tracks. Along the way, Wang Chung’s influence and relevance have made them a pop culture staple.

Wang Chung’s music continues to resonate, appearing in countless commercials, films, video games, and TV shows. Now, they embark on a new chapter with Eric Kupper’s remix of Everybody Have Fun Tonight.

In early 2025, the remix will be featured on Wang Chung’s upcoming vinyl retrospective Clear Light / Dark Matter. This deluxe collector’s edition will include a 7” single with the dub and club mixes of the track. For updates and preorder details, visit: http://www.singmarket.com/market/wangchung/cldm/deluxe

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER Unleash Video for ‘Panic Hysteric’

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER unleash their latest video for “Panic Hysteric.” The fiery new tune comes off the band’s tenth studio album, Servitude, out now on Metal Blade Records.

“Panic Hysteric” is a modern, classic TBDM waltz in the time-honored Swedish style. “Lyrically, it’s a tribute to the fear and outrage that rock and roll ignited in mid-century America,” elaborates vocalist Brian Eschbach. “I was reading quotes from Frank Sinatra, who really didn’t like rock ‘n’ roll, and was pretty eloquent about it. I quoted him a couple of times in the song. That was a fun Sunday writing those lyrics. I’m not gonna lie – vodkas and Shirley Temples were involved.”

Watch below THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER‘s “Panic Hysteric” video, created by Robbie Tassaro and filmed on location during The Remnant Returns EU 2024 Tour.

Watch the band’s previously released animated video for “Mammoth’s Hand” HERE and “Aftermath” HERE.

“The highest praise one could give [Servitude] is that it sounds like the kind of death metal record [late vocalist Trevor] Strnad himself would’ve loved,” writes Decibel Magazine, who recently featured the band on their 20th anniversary issue. “At a brisk thirty-three minutes, there’s no real fat, just a collection of raging riffs and solid gold grooves that never overstays its welcome…” Blabbermouth concurs, “THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER could have taken a prolonged hiatus and returned a few years down the road, refreshed and reinvented. But fuck that. Whether wallowing in grim, doomy waters on ‘Mammoth’s Hand,’ or blasting away like some crazed, nihilistic army of intergalactic ghouls on ‘Transcosmic Blueprint’ and climactic hook avalanche ‘Utopia Black,’ this is an album that nobly delivers the goods, while screaming defiance at the stars. Everybody involved should be immensely proud. The saga continues.” Adds Kerrang, “…the release of Servitude faces down existential concerns with determination and defiance. Forged from tragedy and loss, it honors their fallen friend while celebrating the survival of THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER as an ongoing entity.“

Guitars, bass, and vocals for Servitude were recorded at guitarist Brandon Ellis’ home studio in New Jersey while drums were recorded by Mark Lewis in Nashville, Tennessee where the album was also mixed. Servitude was mastered by Ted Jensen.

With the tragic passing of the THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER‘s frontman and co-founder Trevor Strnad in 2022, band co-founder Brian Eschbach, bassist Max Lavelle, drummer Alan Cassidy, and producer/guitarist Brandon Ellis were faced with a decision: Close the door on one of the most beloved death metal bands or carry on in their fallen brother’s charismatic spirit? After a period of profound grief and soul-searching, Eschbach moved from guitar to vocals, setting aside his lifelong identity as a live guitarist for the survival of the band. Former THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER member Ryan Knight returned to the fold to take Eschbach’s place on guitar. The new lineup made their debut in the band’s hometown of Detroit in late October 2022 for a tribute show for Strnad.

Fast forward to now: THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER‘s new album is the one that many would have thought impossible. Servitude marks Eschbach’s recorded debut as THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER‘s lead vocalist and lyricist-and their first with Knight on guitar since 2015’s Abysmal.

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER is:
Brian Eschbach – lead vocals
Max Lavelle – bass
Alan Cassidy – drums
Brandon Ellis – lead guitar, backing vocals
Ryan Knight – lead guitar, backing vocals
