VOODOO CIRCLE Drop New Single ‘On The Edge’ from Upcoming Album

November 15, 2024 will see German hard- and classic rock overlords VOODOO CIRCLE release their much-awaited, seventh studio album, entitled “Hail To The King”, via AFM Records. The album can be pre-ordered at this location: https://voodoocircle.bfan.link/hail-to-the-king

Following a lyric video for the band’s latest single “Let It Rock”, today, VOODOO CIRCLE are releasing their brand new song “On The Edge”! Get the track on all digital streaming services at: https://voodoocircle.bfan.link/on-the-edge

Every album has its own history, and this one not only tells of VOODOO CIRCLE and its musicians, but also – indirectly, of course – of Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Rainbow and Led Zeppelin. Without trying to disguise their influences, VOODOO CIRCLE consciously follow in the footsteps of these iconic acts and their great international status. Their upcoming album “Hail To The King” doesn’t even try to hide the obvious source of inspiration that spawned the twelve tracks on the recording, but presents with pride, bravura and impressive stylistic confidence the brand of timeless hard rock coined by those groups. As band mastermind Alex Beyrodt recently said: “Our aim is to continue in the great tradition of this music and translate it into a contemporary context.”

The history of “Hail To The King” includes an interesting anecdote: Two of the twelve new album tracks were penned by former Rainbow keyboardist Tony Carey. Beyrodt remembers, looking back almost 25 years: “At the beginning of the 1990s, we were in Tony’s studio to record material for a Sinner album, including the two Carey compositions, ‘All For One’ and ‘Billy’s Song’, which were only released in Japan at the time. I still remember how, in my mid-twenties, I couldn’t believe that I was standing in a recording studio with a legend such as Carey, watching him play the Hammond organ for us, headbanging away. Both songs have been at the back of my mind ever since, just waiting for the right moment to record them again. And since I also wanted to listen to the Rainbow side of me for ‘Hail To The King’, that perfect moment seemed to have arrived.”

At the same time, the new VOODOO CIRCLE album contains not only the usual Whitesnake reminiscences but also a powerful dose from the Led Zeppelin direction. As always, Beyrodt proves to be an outstandingly versatile guitarist, adding: “Ultimately, each song decides which guitar I play. The days when musicians stood for one specific type of guitar are long gone. Nowadays, it’s all about doing justice to the song and its story.”

The first-rate mix courtesy of Achim Köhler, which – like the impressive cover artwork – captures the spirit of this powerful rock disc perfectly, also underlines this claim. Finally, let’s not forget to mention that VOODOO CIRCLE will be going on tour in November 2024, because one thing is obvious: These songs belong on a stage, where hard rock à la VOODOO CIRCLE is truly at home!

LEÆTHER STRIP Return with Tommi Stumpff Banger ‘Massaker’

Claus Larsen, known to 30-plus years worth of industrial fans as Leæther Strip, is back with a brand new single drawn from his upcoming Halloween album All Hallow’s Eve.

Following a tempestuous reading of “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” with the even heavier-hitting “Massaker,” Larsen not only reawakens old memories, he paints fresh textures across one of the key industrial dance club hits of the early 1990s.

A major, manic European club hit for composer Tommi Stumpff in 1991, just as Larsen himself was stepping up to dominate the dancefloor, “Massaker” was a BPM behemoth, as dynamic as it was doom-laden, a swirling sweatbox that retains all its original power… and then some… in Leæther Strip’s hands.

Stream the single: https://orcd.co/leatherstrip_massaker

Indeed, “Massaker” has already established itself as a firm audience favorite in Larsen’s current live set, yet it is scarcely alone in driving All Hallow’s Eve into vivid new landscapes.

Depeche Mode, the Cramps, the Human League and Siouxsie and the Banshees all receive a classic Leæther Strip lashing across this remarkable album – itself the seventh volume in Larsen’s long-running Æppreciation series of truly immolative covers.

The darkest movie themes, too, swirl within the smoke, as All Hallows Eve aligns itself alongside Cleopatra’s other seasonal classic of the year, Gothic Halloween – home to Larsen’s own self-penned horror classic “Strap Me Down” – to guarantee a super-scarifying time for all.

Larsen says, “This is a collection of covers of songs that I connect to my own Halloween. Songs that I would have on a October 31st playlist. Something to enhance the mood of my favorite time of year. They are all songs that I love, songs that I find timeless and very inspiring. Enjoy and celebrate this wonderful time of year.”

  1. The Angel
  2. Massaker
  3. Human Fly
  4. I Like The Night (And The Night Likes Me)
  5. Christine – Main Theme
  6. Being Boiled

THE PIT Presents ‘The Holy Gift – The Documentary’

“‘The Holy Gift’ is not a documentary about Tool, but inspired by Tool’s music.”

As newest addition to its list of programs, THE PIT VOD platform presents ‘The Holy Gift’ : a documentary about the band Tool, produced in the USA, France, and Chile, without involvement from the band members.

It explores the broader impact of their music, appealing not only to Tool fans but to a wider audience of music lovers and anyone curious about how and why music can move us deeply.

The full documentary is available right now on the platform with a 7-days FREE trial.

“Listening to the ‘Lateralus’ album was a shock to me, and I now consider it perhaps my greatest musical encounter. I had always described this music as ‘different’, without ever being able to put a word to that difference.

This music questioned me more and more, and that’s why, in 2005, I started writing a film without suspecting that it would take me 14 years to finish it.” (Stéphane Kazadi, director of ‘The Holy Gift’)

35 years ago today Babylon A.D. released their self-titled debut album. Lead singer Derek Davis looks back on getting signed and their showcase performance for Arista Records Clive Davis…

Getting a record deal and releasing our first record was one of the greatest highlights of my life. I had dreamed about getting “The Deal” and being in a recording artist since I was 8 years old. It just proved to me dreams can come true.

I remember it like it was yesterday, The band had just moved to Hollywood in a one bedroom apartment at the infamous “Saint James” off Hollywood Blvd. There was 6 of us living there for less than a week when our manager called and said that Clive Davis the President of Arista Records wanted to see the band on that Saturday and they had arranged a showcase for us at SIR studios on Sunset Blvd. We had not practiced in a while do to the move from the Bay Area but we were ready! I mean this is “Clive Fukin Davis” The Music Mogul” the man who signed “Janis Joplin”, “Aerosmith”, Simon and Garfunkel”, “The Grateful Dead”, “Santana”,“Whitney Houston” and many more world renown artists and he wanted to see – US!!! WTF??????????

That Saturday morning we practiced a 7 song set and Clive showed up around noon with two New York A&R guys and Randy Gerston the head of the West Coast A&R department. Our manager Jay Malla was there also and that was it! Five guys wearing suites, sitting on a big long couch right in front of the band. We were on stage and we blew through our set and nailed it, and the second we finished the last song “The Kid Goes Wild”, ‘Clive Davis’ jumps up off the couch and opens his arms real wide and says, “Welcome To The Family Boys”! I will never forget the rush of that moment, We had been working for a moment like this our whole career. We signed a 10 album deal and the dream began with our first album the self titled “Babylon A.D.” which was released 35 years ago on October 3rd 1989!

What a fantastic ride it has been and we plan to keep on going. There is no stoping us, “Babylon A.D.” is creating new music and we still get that rush every time we play together on stage and in the recording studio. The music and the fans keep us alive and let us live the dream we still have! We are truly grateful and blessed to be able to still do what we love!

Stay tuned because we are just warming up!!!

Babylon A.D. recently released their latest album “Rome Wasn’t Built In A Day”. The third single “Sometimes Love Is Hell” is active right now on radio.
